Youtube Walkout, Christmas, 2020 (Patreon)

Hey everyone,

It's been a while since I sat down and told you all what I've been up to, how things are under the hood, and where I want to go.

First of all, a little scheduling talk. This week, there's a protest of Youtube's new terms of service which outlines a policy of removing channels it consider's "not commercially viable". With a noted exception of coverage of the UK election, YouTubers are encouraged not to make content between the 10th and 13th. Likewise, viewers are encouraged to not go to youtube at that time.

So, as part of this, I won't be making a Step Back video this week. Also, due to the holidays, I will not be making a video for the week of December 26th either. This means I have one video, a really cool Christmas special, slotted for the 19th, and then I will be off until January 2nd. Do remember that I do a new years day stream every year, though!

Lastly, I think I have begun to settle into a bit of a schedule I like. You likely noticed I moved to a weekly release schedule a few weeks ago, and I want to keep that up for the foreseeable future.

In the meantime, I now have a system in place which lets me make weekly content, while still giving time to more significant, less urgent projects on the backburner (one of which right now is some sample chapters for a book to shop around). These projects include videos I want to put some extra elbow grease into because they could use a really high polish, or I wanna do something special with them. I very much want to treat these projects as done when they're done, so I will only have firm dates on them as they get closer to completion.

2019 was a massive year for me. This is the year that this weird side-hustle became enough to start pushing it into a full-time gig. This would not be possible if it wasn't for your support. So I hope you know how much I appreciate each and every one of you. This is a dream come true, and I get to wake up every morning thinking about how to make cool stuff that eaches about the world. You made that possible!
