Patron Weekly Update 2022-05-27 (Patreon)

Hey folks,
Since I got a lot going on and the distance between projects is getting bigger, I want to keep in touch with you all who give your hard earned money to keep me in business. I really appreciate all you do, and to show some of my appreciation, my plan is to write a little Friday update for you all every week.
May is coming to an end and I should begin with the state of my next video. Basically, the answer is not as far as I'd like. As I began work on this Brief History of Russia video, the project has come out to be much bigger than I anticipated, possibly 2-3 times longer than a normal Step Back video, well over an hour long. I do think its an important video with an important message, so I want to give it the time it needs, but I will keep you all abreast of progress as I chew through the script.
At the same time, I am adjusting to life as a full-time parent. My wife has been ramping back to work from maternity leave and begins back at a full time schedule in June, with me as the 9-5 Monday to Friday parent. It means Step Back gets worked on during naps, evenings and weekends, and some time where we've been able to hire a little child care help every week for a few hours. This is more or less going to be how things go until he's old enough for day care. That would be like next summer at the earliest.
I won't lie, it's a bit of an adjustment. I got used to being a 9-5 youtuber, and now I am back to it being virtually every minute I am not parenting, and I did that before, it just means readjusting to it. But adjustments will be made and as soon as I can I will be making content for you all again soon!
I am also writing and researching the podcast It's Probably (Not) Aliens which has been going strong and recently just got picked up by the streaming platform Nebula. It's very fun and if you wanna hear new history-themed stuff from me every week, you can get it at probsnotaliens.com. I am currently putting those together in addition to Step Back work and getting the podcast up on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOmFwzyVUlBshVDZJg4GUUA/
Lastly, I'd like to provide some value to you people who have done so much for me and my family over the years. I am thinking of in addition to these updates, doing a short Q&A video answering questions from you guys regarding the process of making videos, or anything you'd like for me to answer. For now, just leave the questions as comments on this post, and every month I'll make a post asking you all for questions.
Thanks so much for all you've done, and I'm excited to write to you all next week. Cheers!
