Beautifully said ! Here from Denmark I feel your pain and the past few days have been depressing. I am heart-broken. Election night was after midnight for me and, being sleep-deprived already and needing to be fresh the next day, I didn't stay up for it. I dunno why, but that night I had a wonderful dream about the Democrats colouring many more states blue than expected and taking the Senate majority too. I woke up and got up at 6 only to see Trump leading and turning out quite likely to win. WTF? For one thing: I have known and had access to public health care all my life. Obamacare was far from perfect, but was a step along the right path and I was hopeful that it would be improved once the Democrats no longer were obstructed by Congress. No we can be almost certain that Republicans will roll it completely back again. You were spot on the Democrat establishment ignoring and not addressing the pain and suffering of common people. Sanders would have clearly been the better choice both strategically and policy-wise. Let's see if they will learn from this and take this seriously in the future. Like you, I am hopeful and actually believe that it is the only way forward. Actually, if Trump had lost, I was hoping the Republican party would split, prompting progressive movements within the Democrats to split off too, thus finally getting a multi-party system. I guess I sound terribly naive...
