Hey everyone,

I’m torn on the direction for Working Girls Monthly, and I’d love your input.

Two Possible Futures:

A Wild Romcom RideIt's Working Girls Weekly +++ The ridiculous shenanigans, office hijinks, fake workplace drama, escalating chaotic nonsense, absurd misunderstandings, and over-the-top situations where Itoya and Anna’s dynamic is at the heart of it all. Every chapter would be a fresh dose of fun while slowly developing Anna and Itoya's romance.

A Seinen Action DramaOr… the story could take a more intense turn. Volume 1 is already written in this style—diving deep into deception, battles of wit, love and revenge, escalating stakes, and the heavy cost of living double lives. It’s a world where trust is dangerous, emotions are weapons, and affection is a currency. Everyone isn't who they seem to be and each one with a dark past that are now haunting them.

Two completely different vibes, but both have their appeal. So I want to ask—which one excites you more?

Let me know in the comments I truly appreciate your thoughts!

I personally like the Romcom vibes. That's more of my daily dose versus drama based stuff, but both do have their perks.

I have to go with romcom. I dread dramatic twists where everything just keeps going wrong. I like having security knowing that the characters I like are not going to end up going through manmade horrors beyond their comprehension.

I yearn for the heartache. Makes me more invested in the story and characters.

I like romcom stuff more, BUT having serious problems aren’t bad to have ONCE in a while.

Romcom chaos is your greatest strength. I wholeheartedly support your work. Always have. You’ve built this community and your work from the ground up 🥹 Honestly, it would probably make sense for a Seinen action drama at this stage of the story. But I feel the story would lose parts of its charm from its origins in the old comics. IMO, the “push into action” has already been established as Anna’s determination to be in a relationship with Itoya after that first date. Itoya has been following along that same path (oblivious to some degree; but we see hints of his attraction to Anna as well). Plus, his dad style jokes/humor are part of his character and it opened the door to all the jokes/situations from the whole cast. That’s what drew in a lot of readers - the comedy. What made us stay was the characters themselves. They’re funny, relatable, well drawn, and interesting enough to want to know more about. The shenanigans/hijinks/misunderstandings/dramatic situations…are the perfect foil (as subplots) to the main romance. In a seinen, you’d have to rewrite or change the substance of those interactions/events to focus on the escalating stakes & battle of wits. The vibe would surely change as would the comedic style as well. I’m quite a fan of the “OVER-the-top” comedy that this series has been known for. I really wouldn’t want to lose those lighter, crazy but fun moments. Heartache & serious matters can definitely be part of romance. It’s pretty much a staple of every Rom-com. I would love to see that included in this series…as long as it feels natural to the story and the characters. Since we’re on the topic of Seinen action drama, I’m very curious on your thoughts on this. I’m interested to see if you really want to explore more genres. I’ll definitely dm yu. Keep up the great work 🫡 WE ALL BELIEVE IN YOU and WE LOVE YOU 🥰 💖

I came for the romcom chaos and amazing dad jokes from the blue strips you post on X

I would love to see more seriousness in the comics, but the romcom delight is a welcome reprieve from the depression of living in the world today. Both are something I would anticipate eagerly.

I would love to see a Seinen project! That said it shouldn’t be Working girls since you already have it wacky. If you want to keep it in the same world, why not do something with the noodle vendors? You can have all kinds of folks walk in.
