Pretty Officer x Drunk Salaryman Chapter 5 (Patreon)

Hey everyone,

Just a quick update on where we’re at with Pretty Officer x Drunk Salaryman Chapter 5. The basic outlining is almost done. Next week I’ll be diving into the actual script writing. Writing in English (a second language I still struggle with) can be mind numbing at times. There’s a lot of staring at the same sentence until it either works or I give up and rewrite it from scratch but we’re getting there.

This chapter will take place in the present. Shirosaki will finally decide to take responsibility for Hiroshi’s nightly drunken search for her. Whether that’s out of civil duty as a police officer or a sincere effort to rekindle whatever was disrupted between them in the past we’ll find out together.

At its core this story is about two people trying to desperately find something "real" in a city district whose entire industry thrives on selling fake love packaged polished and sold through a prism of romance. In that kind of place the search for authenticity can feel like the most rebellious act of all.

I’m also considering hiring some help. Nothing is final yet but I’m looking into bringing on a colorist. If a fully colorized weekly release is something you’d like to see please let me know in the comments as it will help me decide.

Another goal is to gather a small team to help me upload my work to platforms like MangaDex Webtoon and others. A lot of people have requested I make the comics easier to read in one place and I think it’s about time I stop ignoring that request.

On the health side I’m making changes to avoid the mistakes I made last year when I pushed myself so hard that I ended up in the hospital twice and had to take a couple of months off. My ever loving wife has finally convinced me to go on a diet and I’ve gone from 85 kg down to a healthier 75 kg aiming for 65 kg lean with some muscle if I can manage it. Staying healthy is my absolute priority this year and that will shape how I pace my work.

Lastly I’ll be taking questions specifically about Pretty Officer x Drunk Salaryman. Other questions are welcome too but I’ll try to keep the focus on this series for now.
