Chapter 15: Adventurer II

Still in Adventurer I, at least for the first bit of this chapter. Dealing with Lacintus was entirely new! I wanted to show more of Ranthia's early Adventurer days when I expanded these chapters, and I figured she deserved a display of competence (just ignore vase to the back of the skull, that didn't count).

Ranthia has a girlfriend, at long last! There's a lot that could be said about their relationship, but I'll let the readers judge for themselves.

She also had her first brush with goblins! ...Well, first in prose, fair chance she dealt with them alongside the men at some point. As much as I'd love to write every adventure they had, the plot does need to roll. After all, Ranthia's still juuust shy of 15 currently. And by the end of book 1 she's (spoiler) and by book 2's end she's a cool and mature (spoiler).

Anyhow, on goblins, I really like Ranthia's reflection on them and the danger they pose (that's not arrogant of me, they were her thoughts, I just transcribed (seriously, this is how it feels to write her; I'm weird)). They're so easy to underestimate. ...And yes, it's intentional that Ranthia kind of starts to underestimate them as soon as they prove they're stupid.

Life is full of ups and downs for her as an Adventurer! And I've enjoyed getting more opportunity to show that. Hopefully you and other readers agree!
