Chapter 19: Minor Interlude - The Guildmaster of the Sardonia Adventurer’s Guild branch - Tomorrow

Was I a genius, scheduling a double chapter day for the one month anniversary of the story launching? No, no I was not--this was a total (semi-happy) fluke.

I considered axing this one when I got to it during editing. The original version was a bit clumsier and arguably the interlude didn't add much. It largely existed because it was hard to write Skill problems without thinking of Maximus and how excited he would have been to get involved.

Instead, I revised it to add more interest (and a joke about Adventurers and liveliness that I bet even Elaine would giggle at) and added a second interlude to go with it! I do think the chapter serves an important role of establishing some information for those that haven't read BtDEM. Remus is changing and Ranthia's too inexperienced to really appreciate it. So I gave a perspective that DID appreciate it.

Was it worth reading? I can only hope so!

Minor Interlude - Lacintus - The Darkest of Arts

This chapter never existed. I'd named Lacintus more-or-less by whim while writing the scene that culminted in Ranthia's "Mirage match." But since he was named, it seemed fitting to use him again.

Not that I had any ideas.

When I decided to add a second interlude, this one more-or-less wrote itself. Ranthia used her journey to practice, but what if she wasn't as alone as she thought? It was a good chance to get a (terrible) perspective and the best benefit was that it's a reminder for the audience that Ranthia's build is weird by Reman standards.

Honestly, it was a blast to write. A mix of twisted and silly, and what more can anyone ask for?

When Lacintus decided to hunt for authorities, I decided to have him find a random Ranger team. What better spot for a couple of cameos?
