Holiday Special #3 - The Grace of War (Patreon)

This time is a bit different, instead of digging something out of my archives (I'd mildly hoped to relocate something I wrote as a kid, but failed) or showing art (you've seen what I've got... that I can share so far at least)... I have an announcement.

Book 1's editing pass is complete.

Now, mind you, I still need to incorporate beta feedback and I might need to redo one bit, but my initial editing pass has finished!

I'm not going to say how many chapters book 1 is total (that's not changing from here, more-or-less no matter what), but I will say... you might want to keep subscribing through January (if you're able! Please don't go bankrupt for me.)

Below this I'm going to give a back of book style summary of the plot of Blind Chaos book II: The Grace of War. If you don't want to be spoiled, I'm layering it between a pile of my paragraph divides so you can better avoid seeing any of it.

I've spent my entire time editing book 1 looking forward to book 2 (and eager to start book 3, naturally). So it's with gleeful excitement that I finally arrive.

Ranthia spent years pretending the shimagu threat had nothing to do with her. It was a far away danger, something only legion forces and politicians gave a damn about. She doubted the propaganda, she paid them little mind, and even when she dreamt of the Pallos beyond her nation's borders, she never thought of them. Until the reality of living in a nation at war visited her and those she cared about.

And now, as a newly appointed [Redacted], Ranthia finds herself assigned to the war zone. Conflict like nothing she had ever experienced becomes a fact of life—but at least she's free of the Dead Zone, so the constant danger comes with commensurate levels. At least so long as she can survive.

But what will happen when the single largest shimagu offensive ever seen punches through the war zone and the lines of combat are redrawn?

Ranthia will confront questions of morality, the horrors of war, powerful beings that bear six classes in a single body, the consequences of her past decisions and actions, and get an unwanted taste of the true level curves of Pallos' elites.
