Chapter 58: Confluence of Individuality

(Original Chapter Title: New Memories, Old Memories)

Ranger Team 6 was already coming together as a team, but here we see them coming together as individuals too. Teamwork camaraderie swiftly bloomed into proper friendship once Ranthia came out of her shell after her near-death experience.

Gods I hate the original title, it barely even made sense. The new one's punchier, even if it's a bit of a mouthful—but at least it's better than the old.

I don't have a ton to say about this chapter. It didn't change much from the original draft. Sentinel Silver's still an ass—though again Ranthia's extreme bias is adding a ton of color to the prose. She makes it easy to hate him. His personal defensive Skills are genuinely impressive though, the tragically nameless dinosaur was doing its best to bite through him for hours, yet he only had minor bruising in the end. Also, to be fair to him, he actually tried to handle the situation solo instead of risking the Rangers that were at his beck and call.

I've mentioned that I love using perception to color events. I wasn't kidding.

In some ways I kind of wish I had more time to play with Ranger Team 6. To show more of how Green shaped each of the Rangers under her care. To get into the backstories of each character. But that's not how I pace things.

Ranthia's journey continues and Ranger Team 6's arc was one that Ranthia will look back on fondly. But, time marches on.

There's a lot I could say about the differences between Ranger Team 13 and Ranger Team 6, but aside from what I discussed before about how the teams united—there's not a ton I can say that isn't blindingly obvious. Green and Leoios were extremely different leaders. In the end, Ranthia grew a bit more mature and self-aware. She has valuable lessons to carry forward to shape her in the future.

But Ranger Team 6 is done and the team is back in Ariminum for reassignment.

The 4812 Ranger Convocation (that's 11 years after Dawn's disappearance, FYI; I'll be updating the timeline on my #royal-road channel on Discord after book 1's done on RR) has arrived! But what will it bring for our heroine?
