Chapter 44: Remera
(Original Chapter Title: Remera)
This is probably the bubbliest we've ever seen Ranthia, so please forgive her for her obsession over having a home—she'll settle into it!
Avyna's standards for a tent are probably better than my standards for a house are. That said, actual layout isn't really complicated:
(Note: The home should be a square, but Patreon apparently compresses horizontally rather than scaling the image accurately.)
A simple enough floorplan, but it's more luxurious than Ranthia is used to and far more magical than any home she's ever seen. The internal dividers might be curtains, but it's definitely more house than tent.
Ranthia continues to be very normal about her relationship. Though admittedly, I can kind of emphasize with her getting caught up in setting up her new home and endlessly adding "just one more thing" before she rested—I've done that more than once myself.
There's not a ton I really have to say about this chapter, in terms of development. The OG draft's version was pretty similar, just less polished. I think the only actually new bit was Avyna's introduction to mage-rock (which went swimmingly, if you ask me).
We've finally reached the new base—I was not about to keep it named Launchpoint 8 (yuck)—and for now it's remained unchallenged. The shimagu at the tiny understaffed base weren't willing to try to contest a major base. The smarter and less wasteful move was to destroy or carry anything of value as they left, while they set up some traps to keep the Remans occupied if they sniffed around.
But how long can peace last in a war?
