Chapter 57: A Return to Consistency

This chapter has been a long time coming, and represents one of the few moments I somewhat regret separating the OG draft into two (soon four) books.

At long, long last... we learn something that I have joked about in comments—knowing this chapter was coming—since fairly early into Blind Chaos' run: that Ranthia doesn't consider killing to be [Sexy]. She's actually more than a little disturbed by the concept! It even caused one of the most blatant moments that Ranthia found herself reassessing her relationship, not that she let the thoughts run wild.

Also, I wasn't kidding when I said in my last chapter afterword that Ranthia is against picking apart previous actions, in case you somehow doubted me. Here we once again see that on full display! It was my hope that the comparison in back-to-back chapters would make her atypical behavior in 56 more apparent.

Also pictured in that scene: blah blah blah, shimagu might have a way to get new twins, who cares.

But in the aftermath of the siege, Ranthia chooses to refocus on the moments happiness that she's won. But the war continues, and her role in it will surely remain the same.

And at the risk of toeing into spoiler-y territory, it is my overall hope that this chapter will hit a bit differently to people on future rereads than it does now. Have I succeeded/will I succeed? Only time can tell.
