Chapter 27: Blind Retribution II

Thank you all for joining me for Blind Chaos, it's been a heck of a ride, but—what do you mean anyone that can read this already knows that the story continues past this point?

I convinced exactly no one that this was the end, and I somehow doubt Royal Road will prove to be any different.

But things have gone quite poorly for our heroine, haven't they?

But for another chapter coming up, this would be the most edited chapter in this book. I'd actually carved out most of this chapter and polished it shortly after I wrote it in the OG draft, to share with a couple of friends. ...Which makes it kind of funny that I found a few different errors while I was editing it just now ahead of the RR release. Sigh.

Honestly though, I'm still proud of how this chapter turned out. I've had some pushback against Ranthia getting seized and it is (somewhat) fair to say she didn't fight as well as she could have; but frankly, she was utterly outmatched not just in terms of stats, but in control over the situation. Her opponent was fast and knew her a bit too well—which let him get his claws into her. And, in some ways, that was the least of her woes. Also, she was trying to minimize damage to Remera, not that she accomplished much in that respect. At any rate, I don't feel like her plight was the result of total ineptitude.

While I list this chapter as coming from two chapters, that's a little misleading in this case. The only thing from the OG draft's Blind Retribution II is the scene with Avyna and her daughter, mostly because I liked stopping after Caeli's protestation in the prior chapter.

Anyhow, I don't have much else to say at this time!
