Chapter 33: Shock and Awe

(Original Chapter Title: A Short Journey Back)

One good thing about my medical/health issues flaring up was that it gave me (unwanted) free time to reassess something that led me to deleting the entire original version of the fight that occurred in this chapter.

In it, Avyna was far too passive and far too clumsy.

In the OG version, she killed only a single adversary, and required enough arrows to pincushion him to do it. She just stood back and fired arrows, while Ranthia handled the rest. It never really suited her and I let her noncombatant class tags cloud my judgment.

During my downtime, I created a baseline to get a feel of what she was capable of, in terms of stats.

And, in short: elves are bullshit.

I saved a few lines and ideas from the OG (literally, just copied out a sentence here and there into notepad) then deleted the original fight, then proceeded to rewrite it from scratch. The story might be Ranthia's, but Avyna is no delicate flower that needs to be protected. It was especially insensitive given Ranthia's revelations in the last chapter!
