There is something about white walls that always makes me want to photograph differently.

A simple white background becomes almost like a blank canvas. With nothing else competing for attention, I can focus entirely on the bodies, the interaction and, most importantly, the attitude. The hard light and strong shadows make everything feel raw, direct and almost like a snapshot, while the poses move between playful, exaggerated and deliberately ridiculous.

It somehow gives me permission to ask models to stop taking themselves so seriously — to have more fun, act stupid, be careless, playful, even a little vulgar. 😂

And this frat-boy attitude is something I find incredibly fun to photograph: the flexing, the showing off, the teasing, the physical play. Especially when models stop thinking about the camera and simply start performing, playing and being. There is something really interesting about combining such controlled, sculptural bodies with behavior that feels completely uncontrolled.

These photos of Mr. Kent & Ace were taken years ago, and I never shared them here because, at the time, I thought this kind of photography wasn't really “me.” Looking back now, I realize that it actually fits much more into my work than I used to think.

The truth is, nowadays I photograph this kind of energy much more often — that playful, messy, irreverent side where eroticism and humor can exist in the same frame. And I think I've finally learned to embrace it.

Hay algo en las paredes blancas que siempre hace que quiera fotografiar de una manera diferente.

Un simple fondo blanco se convierte casi en un lienzo en blanco. Al no haber nada más compitiendo por la atención, puedo concentrarme completamente en los cuerpos, la interacción y, sobre todo, en la actitud. La luz dura y las sombras marcadas hacen que todo se sienta crudo, directo y casi como una fotografía espontánea, mientras que las poses se mueven entre lo juguetón, lo exagerado y lo deliberadamente ridículo.

De alguna forma, me dan permiso para pedirles a los modelos que dejen de tomarse tan en serio las cosas — que se diviertan, hagan el tonto, sean despreocupados, juguetones e incluso un poquito vulgares. 😂

Y esta actitud de frat boy es algo que me divierte muchísimo fotografiar: los músculos, presumir, provocar, jugar físicamente. Especialmente cuando los modelos dejan de pensar en la cámara y simplemente empiezan a actuar, jugar y ser. Me encanta esa combinación entre cuerpos tan controlados y esculpidos y un comportamiento que se siente completamente descontrolado.

Estas fotos de Mr. Kent & Ace las hice hace años y nunca las había compartido aquí porque, en aquel momento, pensaba que este tipo de fotografía no era realmente “yo”. Viéndolo ahora, creo que encaja mucho más con mi trabajo de lo que pensaba.

La verdad es que hoy en día fotografío este tipo de energía mucho más a menudo — ese lado juguetón, desinhibido e irreverente donde el erotismo y el humor pueden existir en la misma imagen. Y creo que finalmente he aprendido a abrazarlo.
