I'm honestly glad you got mad at the doctor, a lot of reactors latch on to rose and get mad at her for being upset but I think they forget that she's only 19/20 years old and is being confronted with some awful truths about the future of her relationship with the doctor to give him a little more credit, the doctor doesn't just ditch people because they're not young and hot anymore. I think it's much more about the fact that he believes most humans want something he can never give them (like a stable relationship or a family), so he pulls some self-sacrificial bullshit and "makes the choice for them so they don't have to." In the classic series, he even pulls that with his granddaughter, leaving her with a man she fell in love with without even giving her a choice because he wanted her to have a "real home" and knew that she would never choose herself and her needs over staying and taking care of him
