Mac😭😭😭😭

You can have HQ mod in Mac! (At least I managed to do that when I played sims 4 on mac, just that the file you have to edit is in a different path, compared to windows)

Erique K

please tell how!!

Okay, the file you have to change is GraphicsRules.sgr, right? In a windows pc it's in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin", but in a mac the path is different. You have to open Finder, then go to Apps folder, look for The Sims 4 icon. Right click it and click on "Show package content", then go to Contents, Resources, and there should be the GraphicsRules.sgr file. Very important, make a backup of that file before editing it. For some reason when I edited it using TextEdit the game didn't work, but if I edited it using windows' text editor, it did. Please, be very careful. You also will need to download HQ textures for basegame and all the EPs you may have

It's a mod that increases the size of game textures, making everything look better, crisper and with more definition. In sims 3 it was way easier, but in sims 4 you have to download all game textures in a bigger size for it to work. Alf-si has it very well explained here https://alf-si.tumblr.com/HQ_ts4_English

I don't because I have 35GB of CC and I don't know if it is compatible or not, some of it is conversions or older CC that I can't get anymore and I just don't want to mess with my CC so I don't. Is it worth it? I have no idea, does it cause lag?

gravechill

hq mod is useful if you make screenshots and want to improve their quality, mods can be converted using hq texture converter, nothing lags for me and everything works fine!(sorry for my bad english haha)<3

I don't really get the hq mod so no, in trying not to break anything I just haven't tried it :)

Like lilshpala said, unless you use the game for taking pics, it's not needed, while you play sims you're not THAT close to them to see the difference. In my case, I use it because I want the pics to look as best as possible, and because making a texture in 512px is a joke (sims2 and sims3 had 1024px texture for hair) hahaha

antosims

it's only useful if you use the game to take pics, but if you don't, then better leave the files untouched hahaha

Terrance

I don't use the mod itself but I've edited my graphics card to run the game as if I do so my game looks HQ even tho I don't have the mod itself. Hope that makes sense

antosims

Yeah that might enhance the way the game looks, but textures remain small. It's sad that EA decided to make so small textures for the game 😭

Matt Xanthis

I tried several times. But couldn' make it work. When I will succeed, I'll definitely run the game in HQ.

antosims

It's a bit tedious to make it work (at least compared to Sims 3), because you need to download in HQ all base/EP game textures... and imho it's worth only if you want to take pics of sims, for gameplay is not even noticeable hahaha

Ferdinand

Thanks for pointing out these issues with HQ Mod.
