I almost gave up on this piece because it felt like it wasn’t coming together at all, but I persevered and… well, here we are, for better or worse.

Just for the record, I have no familiarity with the show they’re from, and it was really only by pure accident I found out who Torg was.

Created by Bill Everett and debuting in Sub-Mariner Issue 55 from August 1972, Torg the Abominable Snow-King was a Sub-Mariner (better known nowadays as Namor) antagonist.  Torg contested Namor’s rule of the seas as he, Torg, ruled the seas surrounding the Antarctic (if he’s meant to be a water denizen, then why does he have fur?  I guess to convey he’s from a cold part of the world?)

Anyway, the 🌙 Person and Devil Dinosaur show re-imagined Torg entirely to be something more like a King Kong-expy, a giant gorilla.  A kaijû movie premiere in New York gets interrupted because Torg appears to complain about his likeness being infringed upon and outright size-ism (that is, he says it’s not fair he be vilified purely due to his size).

Funnily enough by the series’ abrupt ending, he and Devil Dinosaur end up becoming friends.

And err, yeah, that’s it.  Enjoy.
