Comic #947: Rogue None (Patreon)

I started this comic off as a continuation of last week's. I was planning of having some narrative that showed that the most popular classes had the most forum posters and thus got the most complaints and then the most buffs. So I looked up class distribution statistics and the classes at the top and bottom were not exactly what I expected. So this comic was born.

There were a few jokes in there that couldn't make it into the comic. I had a couple versions with commentary about evokers for example. At first Keydar was going to say Rogues were the least played class, Nyte would point out evokers, and Keydar would make some comment about forgetting they existed or something.

Initially I wasn't going to include any jokes about monks, until I realized Nyte's comment in panel 2 was completely disproven by the existence of monks. So I felt like I had to make a joke to address it. I considered a few options, but the idea that monks have no visible weapons when attacking was funny to me. I also had Nyte mention class fantasy there because I feel like that's a good catch-all explanation for why monks aren't played that much.

I wanted the final panel to show hunters just destroying shit, but I feel like I reached the limit of my time and ability to animate. I hope it ends up making the point. I wanted to convey that hunters do one thing but they do it with extreme badassery.

I doubt anyone would notice, but I borrowed Nyte's legs from the first panel of #908 for the hunters running animation. I had enough to animate I felt like I earned the right to steal my earlier work. I initially just had the hunter shooting in 3 static locations, but I felt like having the hunter running while shooting would get across the joke even better.
