Comic #956: The Guild is Always Greener (Patreon)

This one ended up being kind of two premises in one.

The first was the original setup and joke. Some raider is going on about how ready he is, final panel shows a ready check with a raid leader telling him to click the damn thing. The problem with this initial idea was I had a really hard time coming up with various ways of the raider talking about how ready he was without making it so you see the punchline coming.

I knew the penultimate panel would have him saying “I WAS BORN READY!” I just had a hard time figuring out the dialogue for the panels leading up to it.

In the end I married it to another idea I had lying around, about a raider bragging about his old guild. I used a LITTLE of this concept way back in #309 (see panel 6), but it was more of a throwaway joke than an entire premise.

I think it ended up working out, but I still feel a little the two ideas never fully gelled together. What do you all think? Did the two ideas work together?
