The Process of Drawing Teldrassil (Patreon)
Content
For those interested in the process of some of my work, I broke down some of the layers that went into the drawing of Teldrassil in #607.
1. Base
This is the base ink layer, this is where I started.
2. Background
This is a simple gradient radial fill, white to yellow to orange to black. Gives the illusion of fire.
3. Coloring
This one is a bit subtle, but you can see that the coloring within the tree itself has changed. Makes the tree appear more 3-dimensional.
4. Backdrop "Glow"
I started with a fully black backdrop and selected and deleted sections bit by bit to create a "void". I mostly used a polygonal lasso tool to select, and delete radial lines.
5: Ink Detail
I just added some more detail to give the feel of motion and fire.
6. Fire Detail
I added some more detail to the color of the fire above the tree.
7. Water Base
This is the base of the water layer.
8. Water Detail
To create the rest of the water, i simply copied the entire image, and flipped it, creating a reflection. I then blurred the flipped image and lowered it's opacity. Finally, to give the illusion of waves, I erased some small horizontal lines in the reflection, revealing the base lighter layer of water underneath.
