What a weird one. I feel like this should have been 4 panels. I know I often complain about how many extraneous panels I would have in the old days, I just have to hope regular readers find it endearing rather than annoying.

There's something I really liked about having plain boring names for characters in a fantasy world. Ronald, King of the Lepers has a nice ring to it.

I have to say though, the premise here is pretty timeless. I could still make a similar joke today. If I were to do it now, I would just have her complete the quest, immediately summon a vendor mount, and then sell the hat right in front of the NPC's face. I could also imagine someone asking her "You couldn't have done that out of line of sight?" And her replying, "I'm not made of time." With the NPC silently sobbing in the background.

Has "The More You Know" been memed enough in the internet era that even young people get the reference? In the 90s you would see that thing on NBC all the time. I went back and watched one on youtube just to rekindle the memory and it was Matthew Perry and now I'm sad. Did they all sit in chairs in empty rooms? I can't remember, but Keydar's definitely sitting in one, I wonder if I watched the same one for reference. I could go back and watch more but they are so awkward and I can't handle the second hand embarrassment.

Also, out of sheer curiosity, I removed the speech bubble layer to see what the NPC's facial expression was in panel #8. Care to guess?

If you guessed the exact same expression as panel #9, congratulations! You know me well enough to guess I would use a speech bubble to hide my laziness.
