The Process of Drawing #609 (Patreon)
Content
1. Base Drawing
I drew the characters first.
2. Light Elements
I next added the bright rays of light by deleting a void from a completely filled black layer.
3. Rings
I deleted some concentric rings from the previous light drawing. I felt it gave a more centralized focus of action.
4. Color Change
I altered the color of the layers to make them a little more faded. This helps the look in the end as a figure in a history book.
5. Text
Most of my fonts are blambot fonts, (www.blambot.com). They have a huge selection of great fonts for use in comics, and the quality is excellent.
The description text is a font called "Honeymead", and the text below it is my all time favorite of theirs, called "MumbleGrumble". It is effectively a scribble font, which is extremely useful for any time you want the illusion of hand written text, but don't want to put in the effort of writing it.
6. Page Texture
I found a page texture online for this. There are various sources of free or paid page textures. You could also scan your own, or even make your own texture if you're feeling adventurous.
8. Page Details
To give the illusion of an open book, I added a vertical line for the spine, and added a gradient for shading.
9. Final Image
I simply put both elements together.
