What a weird title. It's a Watchmen reference, but I feel like I could have used an analogy that was less of a mouthful. It's been a while since I read Watchmen but I'm pretty sure a giant squid monster is dropped onto New York as a war deterrent. So I guess I'm saying Death Knights are a class war deterrent? Makes sense I guess, but still weird.
I love the little Donald interlude in this one. Here it is in HD:
Death Knights were the first new class introduced in wow. They were pretty strong on release, so you can imagine how much anger there was in general. Especially for classes that felt they were undertuned and had similar roles. A similar thing happened eventually with Death Knights as well. So I thought it would be a fun idea if hating on Death Knights created some kind of truce between the other classes.
The hardest thing for me to look at with these early comics is how much so many of the panels look the same. All characters are visible from feet to head, they all stand fully in frame. This makes it so each image is less dynamic and any changes become harder to see. There's a lot more humor you can get from posture and facial expressions when you're able to get closer to the characters. But I guess that was part of the charm of these early ones. They were very simple in their own way.
