I feel like my comics are less bloody now. Though I did just do a comic with a giant farting worm, so I guess they are still crude.
This one is mostly still relevant. However, this was drawn before quest locations were on the map. So you did actually have to read the quests unless you had a quest helper addon.
I remember being really unconfident early on at drawing characters. I always kept them in full body view (thus keeping them small), and copy-pasted about 90% of their body from frame to frame, only altering minor features such as expressions or hand gestures. It ends up making the characters look really stilted. Nowadays I would likely have had the quest NPC more animated, having him come close and closer into Keydar's frame, pressing up against him as Keydar gets more and more exasperated with the dialogue.
The only thing that improves skill is practice, and I've never been very good at practicing, even things I have enjoyed such as drawing. I find that I get bored easily and want to do other things. So even though I was never a flat out horrible artist, I was also was never particularly good.
That's why I'm really grateful to these comics, because they have forced me to practice drawing week after week. It really has become more enjoyable over the years. Especially when you produce a product that you can be proud of.
