Comic #840: Deja Queue (Patreon)
Content
I was queueing for LFR the other day and this happened 5 times in a row. It wrote itself.
The hardest part was juggling how long to make each pause in the animation. How many frames should Nyte be staring at nothing, vs staring at the declined queue, etc. The longer pauses work well, but I start to risk having a reader scroll down and read the final panel in the wrong moment and ruin the joke a bit. This is why I made the queue filling take so long. I figure if someone scrolls down in that moment it works fine.
I did consider removing the second frame, and just having the first and last frame in the comic. Unfortunately that would ruin the rhythm of the comic unless you happened to scroll down at the perfect moment.
I also struggled with the second panel for a while. The panels are not very wide, so I couldn't really fit Nyte and the LFR popup in the same frame. I could have put the popup above her head, but then it ruins continuity for the frame being on her right side in the final panel. In the end I worked it out by creating a different angle. It also had the benefit of changing up the monotony of having the same character in the same perspective two frames in a row.
