I can never be fully sure what knowledge the reader has, so I was a little worried about people getting the joke in this one. In order to understand this punchline the reader needs some knowledge of the Legion expansion as well as the current game. They also have to know what a Monkey's paw is, which I hope at this point is a large enough part of pop culture that it won't be a problem.

I tried to incorporate a little bit of extra exposition to help fill any knowledge gaps some readers may have. The dialogue in the second panel ended up a lot longer than it was originally. I wanted to make sure people knew that monkey's paws granted wishes, and that he wanted to get an axe. The third panel makes it clear he's trying to get a legendary.

For those without the background, Krom wishes on a Monkey's paw for the new legendary axe, and instead gets a legendary from back in Legion. On top of that, the Sephuz's Secret was a pretty underwhelming legendary early into that expansion, and it was a disappointing first drop.

Should've been more specific, Krom! ^.^;;

This is SO true. The first ever legendary I got (during BfA, having played since 2010) was from Legion content.

And if anyone doesn’t get the paw bit - it dates back to a 1902 short story. A mummified monkey paw is enchanted to grant 3 wishes, but the wishes have dire consequences because messing with fate is bad. First instance as an example — guy wishes for enough money to pay off his family’s mortgage. Next day his son dies in a work accident and the settlement from the company equals the mortgage balance.

Sorry Keydar in the DACHL region Monkey Paw is neither common nor do I have a knowledge of current WoW's legendary system as I left during BfA for Classic.
