Straight!? Revamp v0.17 Public Release!! (Patreon)

Hey all,

Aaaand here we are with the public release of v17 of the Revamp.

It's been a long road and it's no secret I bit off a little too much with this one. Really surprised me how much work there was to do here but it's done and is a significant upgrade from the original.

This update officially starts Chapter 8 and will take us through the first 1/3~ or so. For those that played the original, it'll stop probably where you expect it to. Lot of new stuff here with two completely new environments that were heavily populated to try and make them more realistic/world-building than what we saw in the original. 638 new pics, new new audio tracks, and some expanded scenes with much smoother writing.

Characters meet and paths begin to intersect.

Lot of setup in this update for things to come. I hope you enjoy.

Real quick: You may also notice that there's no MEGA.NZ links this time around. Basically, the game is now too big for using mega. It'll cost me to upload there but more importantly, people would have to have an account there to actually download this big of a file (mega puts restrictions on daily download sizes per user). However, I'm introducing Pixeldrain this time around so if you happen to use it, lemme know how things go (particularly if there's any problems or ultra slow downloads). I've used PixelDrain in the past to download stuff and I liked that it wasn't cluttered with ads and fake "download" looking buttons. If you're sketched out by a new download link, just use MediaFire or G-Drive (warning, G-Drive severely restricts downloads so only use that one if you have to-- I'd really like to save it for people that MediaFire is too slow for)

Note: this is the same version release to Patreon 3 weeks ago. On the Discord people have reported a few minor typos which I've fixed and we'll be seeing when v18 drops. However, it was a ton of extra work to recompile the entire game just for a few typo fixes. Feel free to still report things to make sure they were fixed but it just seemed better to spend the repacking time working on the next update.

So what are your future plans for this game like is there an end that has been decided and if so how lond do you think it will take cause im way too excited cause i dont really like cliffhangers and its a great game tbh.

heya, thanks for reading. so... yep. there's a clear ending. in fact, it's already been finished back in 2024. this current work is the revamp of the original version which contained the entire story. there are 10 chapters total and they progressively just get longer and longer. there's a lot left. i will say that each update typically does deal with a cliffhanger, although that's honestly my favorite way to read it because the cliffhangers are purposely done at a place that suggests consideration or just doing a mental recap of where things are. sometimes sitting with that tension allows us to relate more to the characters imo rather than just get quick resolution. The original is published on here and is v0.21.4. However, imo I would strongly encourage you to stick with the revamp. The original has far less images and the quality of those images isn't even comparable. The best image in the entire game isn't even close to the quality of the worst image in the revamp. The writing is also far less consistent, and there's no sound or music because i couldn't afford to license yet-- thus, the revamp was born and is far better quality in every way. the original as literally me learning how to create a game and write a fictional story in real time so there's a lot of growing pains there. the revamp is a much more confident me. the revamp will follow the original story though

WHAAATTT!!! So, my first time reading a visual roman. actually, first time invested in a 'reading' story. i've been clustered on this for 3 days and just finished. Just stumbled on this by accident, i'm so hooked, feeling like a teenager again. Thanks so much for that, but seriously bummed i'm gonna have to wait now for the continuation. Heya. Ok, so there’s 2 versions. Vo.21.4 is the original version and is finished. All 10 chapters are complete but the quality is bad because it was a first attempt at writing and gaming and coding and everything. So when I finished I started the Revamp. The Revamo is currently being worked on and will eventually be all 10 chapters completely reworked with smoother writing, visual upgrades, and sound. The revamp is the only one being worked on and the original v21.4 while complete, is not longer being worked on. Eventually the Revamp will replace the original and be the definitive version of the story and the original will be archived here but no longer posted outside of here

Hey there, Aaryn! I just wanna start by thanking you for being the prime reason for this masterpiece's existence! Now, I must admit, I am fairly new to encountering "Straight!?" and your work, but reading it, I already feel like I've known it for years. I guess it just left that much of a mark on me. I wanna say that this is the greatest, in my own eyes and liking, romance(as a whole) that I've read. The chemistry between Zack and Braden has been drawing me in more and more with every moment I spent reading it. It is so authentic and so genuine, and I absolutely adore that. I say this as a fairly experienced reader of all nuances of fiction, especially including romance, and I say this with all my heart and am proud to say it - this is the best piece of romance I've ever laid my eyes on. I'm not exaggerating, I am not unnecessarily glazing. I am absolutely serious. And I am very openly going to admit that in all my years on the internet, you are the only creator that I've ever decided to support on Patreon. I've had plenty of favorite creators, however, there has never been a project that I've been as excited and passionate as "Straight!?". Honestly, I am very grateful that I came to know about you and the two boys(Zack and Braden) so late. It is, because I was first introduced with the revamp, and no offense, as I AM REALLY serious about wanting to go with the story through the revamp, without resorting to the draft, no matter how much time it takes. I wish to experience "Straight!?" in its greatest potential! Another reason for my gratefulness is that I encountered it with the revamp fairly developed and as much as I am a patient person, I don't know just how much I would've been able to sit through it all. Now, look, I already heard from somewhere that the original story was around 10-ish chapters, however, there's nothing I wouldn't give to see a whole lot more content about these two(Braden and Zack) in the future. Like maybe, the rest of their college years, that are in front of them? I don't mean to be a bother with all of this or to pressure, it's just that in the short time that I've gotten acquainted with "Straight!?", it started to mean really much for me, especially when I relate to Zack in way too many ways(not because of the fact that he's gay, but primarily because of his mindset and character. It screamed to me "Me" all the time). I hope I haven't annoyed you too much with all of my ranting. It just really means way too much for me. And that means a lot, because I am normally very nonchalant about everything I read. This just struck me like a truck in the soul. I hope it means to you as much as it does to me, because that's all I'll be happy with while I wait for it - a creator who is pouring the fullest of their heart and soul into the thing they love. And so, I want to thank you once again for bringing this into my life, it has undoubtedly brought changes to my own character and life in one way or another. I'll be here, waiting for all the possible content(and much more🤞) you could bring to me about them! In all honesty, if you were to ask me, if I would prefer watching TV shows with the length of, for example, "The Simpsons", "Family Guy" and hell, even "One Piece" or read "Straight!?" with twice as much content and plot to those shows, then I will, without hestance at all, choose "Straight!?", because I've never had such a blast and experience as I've had while reading and diving deeper and deeper into these two's story. And so, with this, once again: Thank you...truly...thank you so much. It has brought me immense joy on so many levels and I cannot wait until the next release! Thanks for sitting through my rambling, as well... 🫠 (also, no push or anything, but I am always accepting of any words you would like to have with me about it or whatever. also to clarify: the Revamp is currently out. it's just not finished. i'm releasing it sequentially as I get parts of it done so it's sorta coming out like watching episodes of a tv series every few months. the post above has the link to the most recent version of the Revamp but it only goes up to the first 1/3 of Chapter 8

I've only ever become a patron to get exclusive content, but I can honestly say this is a project that I'm PROUD to support the creation of. This is such a special piece of media, and I think everyone can tell the time and dedication that has been put into it. Excited for the future!

ugh... so hi. i just realized that i read this message and i thought i responded but there's nothing here so i either 1)had that conversation in my head, or 2) i posted it and it just didn't post; so i really apologize for the obvious slow response. it certainly wasn't my intention. first off, thank you for your kind words. I've joked in the past about accidently writing a "romance." here i am, writing something in a genre with almost zero limits-- i like comic books and dark fiction and fantasy and sci-fi and horror... i'm not usually a fan of romance but there's a few movies i thought were good. it's weird when you peel away my layers, i end up writing a friggen romance. but i do like diving into the character dynamics and the back and forth of people. that probably stems from the psych background and counseling relationships with people though. i'm also glad you're willing to wait for the full revamp version. lot of people jump over to the original after finishing the most recent revamp releases and there's a significant drop in quality there. the story does mean a lot to me and i take it seriously. while i still never really feel like i know what i'm actually doing, i do put thought into the decisions and I've stated numerous times that i know people trust me with these characters so i take that seriously. you mention long running shows and i think that would be the only way i'd be interested in depicting this story. while there's a lot that happens, a lot of the "action" is just in the dialogue and i appreciate that stuff. i think it's how we meet people irl and how we learn about those around us.

I got your game it on itch.io a few days back and didn't know much about it. I just finished playing through it. You have no idea how fast I RAN here to become a supporter. That's how invested you got me in this story!! Honest to god, probably the best gay VN I've ever played. The writing, the characters, the art, the slow burn that burns sooooo gooooooood... I can't describe it. Thank you thank you THANK YOU for this! Your talent and your skill are unmatched, and it's like you were born to do this. Eagerly awaiting the next releases of the Revamp!
