Hey all,

So just checking in to provide an update. First off, if you haven't played v.07, you should probably stop reading because this update will pick-up where the last one left off per normal and probably spoil the ending.

Second, holy fuck there were a lot of comments on v07! I was really excited by the new members and just seeing people check-in and let me know their thoughts. I love that shit :)

Dinner Conversation

Currently, I've been working on these off and on...I have three short topics done but the past week has been pretty hectic with starting the full-time internship so bare with me. I'm still looking for suggestions or things that you guys are interested in. Maybe holes in the story or background information will be the main focus. Some suggestions such as general feelings or sports participation may play a minor role here but will have a more prominent focus in the main story. Remember, this is supplemental material you can completely skip if you're not interested. For those that shared suggestions before, I'm going to try and incorporate many of these into the dinner conversation. If you don't see your topic, it may be part of the main story instead.

Strip Poker

So this is probably what most people are interested in. As with most of my logs, you're going to get blunt honesty here. This is an event that I have been excited about and dreading simultaneously. Incorporating this into the game has always been a milestone and part of the initial plan. The problem was my minimal understanding of coding. Thus, over time I have gone through several iterations of trying to figure out just what the fuck I was going to do with this section. Did I want to actually have a card game you had to play or make it more story based? Over several months of arguing with myself, I have made the final decision to make it more story based and give the player full control of the outcome. The initial harsh feedback I got in the beginning of game development was to "play to my strengths" of which coding is not one. This feedback has predominantly guided my decision making since when I get stuck.

Basically, to give you an idea of how things will go:  Players will start fully clothed and each round will probably have some dialogue, card playing, and the loser will lose an article of clothing through a short series of sequential CGs. Basically, for each round, you will select the winner or loser. While potentially simple and not as exciting, I really felt this gives you, the player, more control of what you want to see. For those of you that want to just strip the fuck out of Braden or Zack, you can do that. For those of you that want to simulate more of a nailbiter and have them pretty even throughout the game, you can do that.

The downside: there's a lot more CG work to do than I anticipated because there are a lot of variables of who will have what on as the game progresses. Additionally, the coding and variables will be a nightmare to write. While I originally wanted this to be a quicker update, this is my plan moving forward and I feel pretty confident that it will appeal to the most players and their control over the event.

Good news is that posing the figures is quick because it's a lot of the same scenes over and over with just different variations of clothing on. Right now, I have about 30 new CGs rendered and waiting to be dropped into the game. On the other hand, I haven't started writing the strip poker scene yet because I want most of the CGs done or else it's going to be too confusing to keep track of the writing.

The bottom line

So, as with most of my DevLogs, I usually have no idea when the next update will drop. Thus far, I've been pretty consistent and tried to bust my ass when I was behind. In short, this update may take longer than I thought but I feel that the variations in the strip poker may actually allow for some replay value due to different variations in the outcome. Hopefully, this will be that middle ground between those that want the tease vs those that just want sex. Essentially, I'd rather take my time and not have regret when I look back at the update in the future. I'll keep ya posted and will likely share more pics in the future--especially, if I think it will take longer.

Thanks again for the support,

-Aaryn

(Dinner Conversation) Zack might ask Braden why he always feels comfortable with him. Braden might ask Zack how he gets on with his gay life.

After finally actually contributing to this most rare specimen of a game, I'd like to express my deep appreciation for this fervent effort. While there still remain some errors on grammar(regrettfully a most vital immersion breaker for me) in the earlier parts of the game, the relationship between Braden and Zach is developing so smoothly that it never ceases to fascinate. Is it planned to eventually include other students from their floor or the swimming/wrestling team to expand the cast and for added realism? Looking forward to future updates!

I must say I wouldn't mind either way: an actual card game or purely story based. It has both up- and downsides. An actual card game could have been a nice distraction from the gameplay. But you would probably have to put in a lot of effort programming-wise only to be told by enough people that they don't like it. So even if you had decided to make an actual poker game, you probably still would have had to offer an option to skip it. I'm very much looking forward to Braden and Zack's poker game. I know I want Zack to lose. That's just too interesting in my mind, because this game was his idea all along to get to see Braden naked. Oh, the irony if Zack loses instead. Also we know what Zack's intentions are. We can read his thoughts. We don't know the same about Braden though. So I'm very much looking forward to Braden's reaction seeing Zack naked. Will he have any kind of reaction that will show us what he thinks about seeing his roommate naked? Will he like it? Will it turn him on? Or will he be completely indifferent about it and not be interested at all?

I'm loving this story. The cliffhanger at the end with the poker game about killed me. But, being a writer myself, it was a brilliant idea if you ask me. And the look on Braden's face suggested he had ulterior motives or an ace up his sleeve. Nicely done. As for the poker game itself, letting the game player choose the outcome is very smart. This way you aren't imposing a specific version of the story on the player and allowing them to create the story they want. And as you mentioned it also allows for replays with different results. Well done. I can't wait for the next update.
