Well, here's a song I never ever thought I'd do ever in the history of ever. Let that be a lesson to all of you youngsters out there - you never know what's just around the bend. Could be chicken, could be peaches, could be you singing "ding dong ding dong ding dong ding dong" ad infinitum ad nauseum. Life's just full of bewildering surprises. ENJOY!

Perks forthcoming!

I’m so happy! I was hoping for this. ❤️❤️🎶🎶❤️❤️ //Åse

Debs Badger

I really liked this one, G. You definitely made a version all your own.

Zane

Another great one.

Gretchen G

This may be the most terrifying Christmas song I've ever heard, lol. I love it! It's perfect ☺️

Lynn M

I haven’t even listened, but to paraphrase a particular reactor, SIR!! I will comment later after I’ve had time to listen a few times.

Jamie T.

Well that was unexpected - but I loved it! Good thing for us that you know enough to listen to the boss (thank you, Kathy!!). 🤣 Happy Holidays to you & your family Geoff and to all the other Patron's reading this.

Karen & Lauren

you know, i think this has been the YEAR of Geoff doing songs he never thought he'd do "in the history of ever".

Masha

Gorgeous...

Jamie T.

Gee, I wonder which reactor you're talking about...🤣🤣🤣 This is going to knock him out of his chair, again!

Jennifer Remy

Wow! That was insanely mesmerizing. What a triumph! You redefined that song forever!

LaRae

Absolutely beautiful. One of my all time favorite Christmas songs.

Amanda Hovendon

“That guy on the far right was very ddrunk.” Me: “Hmm.. must be Daryl” Jk

Annett Günther

This has to really sink in for me... amazing

Olivia Clark

Merry Christmas! Love this composition.

Druid

OBSESSED. Thank you, Team Castellucci!!!!! ❤️💚🔔💚❤️

Amanda Hovendon

Where was this filmed? Cause that’s one hell of a fireplace!

Lulu Dumpling

When you're stroking a cat and they're purring & limp & sloppy then you scratch their chin and they do that face, like they just died & went to cuddle heaven.. That's how this made me feel.

Amanda Hovendon

I am so using the mp3 for a drawing video for my YouTube if you don’t mind🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Judy Wilde

I love Christmas music, but I’ll admit this is my least favorite because of the repetition. But you have transformed it and made it tolerable - even enjoyable. (I’d still like to know the other song you had planned and why the boss nixed it!)

Sandy Nickell

Thank you Kathy for being boss! It sounded awesome! Really, really awesome! I especially appreciated the room shaking bass notes! Can’t wait to see the reception on YT! When will it be released? 💜💜💜

D Tal

Awesome

ObscureReferenceWoman

That was wonderful! Like being carried away on a wave of joy. Dare I say, the boss made a good call?

Amanda Hovendon

Can’t wait for the isolated and the karaoke tracks for this. God it’s beautiful

Mark Vince

Awesome rendition. Always been my favorite Christmas song.

Biene

That subterranean G1/D1 Christmaaaaaaas hit me completely unprepared.

Kourtney Frantz

Ok…this was really good. I love your mid range for Christmas songs souly because it’s heart lifting. Next year… I’ll be home for Christmas. PLEASE!!! The harmonies you and your clones could bring to this would be GLORIOUS!!!! And…not repetitive.😁 Yet still…those lows just sooth my soul!! Thank you for a stirring rendition of Carol of the Bells!! 2nd champagne bottle popped! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!!!🎄🥰 PS… Keep the strands of tinsel in your hair…you wear it well, my friend!!! Peace and Love to ALL!!🥰😘

Huldra Draco

Dayum, now THAT'S an EPIC xmas song! LOVE IT!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Kristin Taggart

Oh listen, it's Santa's war music. Loved it!!!

Lisa Kettlewell

For being a highly repetitive song you sure made a beautiful arrangement out of it! 💜

Stephanie Graham

Love this! Such a beautiful and intense version of this song. It’s such a powerful variation. It feels very reminiscent of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen that was released 2 years ago. 🔔🎄❄️

Theresa Schultz

Well crud, yet another Christmas song that I'll be playing all year long. Masterfully done sir.

B Sprak

I've made a similar comment elsewhere, but I can't resist telling you how absolutely beautiful this arrangement is as performed by you! It's gorgeous, epic, majestic, and powerful! Thank you for blessing us this Christmas & Yule with such a masterpiece ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Jonna J

Loved it. Nice bonus at the end of the previe. Extra thanks for posting actually solvable hints this time, even though the teaser pic and video threw me off for a sec.

Azazel

This music always make me emotional but a cover by you ? I was crying, shaking while my heart was beating so fast. I NEVER had that before... It's so powerful for me. Thank you for doing it Geoff

Manasi Kane

Wasn’t prepared for an epic Carol of the Bells 🫨 ! This is awesome, Geoff ! Does give GRYMG vibes and your version is my favourite! This one beats it I think ! Love your twists on all the songs you cover ❤️

Jessica Lord

I absolutely cannot wait for this!

Jaezrar

This one blew my mind! More than other songs! It was a work of musical art. I can't wait for Friday. As soon as this gets release to the entire world on Friday, I'm sending it to my friends and family xD

Jodie Yates

Geoff and VoicePlay are going to have me actually liking Christmas music. What an epic version of Carol of the Bells.

Ashley Evers

I definitely thought this was more likely to show up on Voiceplay's channel, but you made it yours in the best way. This is just epic. I adore the drama, and the power, and the bounciness 🤣

Scott Pearce

This definitely is a bass song and Geoff nailed it once again

Cheryl Smith

I dont think Ive ever heard a Christmas song sung that low. Beautiful and a little scary. LOL

Filiz E

That was just EPIC Geoff!! I adore your vocals but also the instrumentations in your songs just keep getting more and more EPIC as well.. WOW!!

Douglas Hill

Reactor predictions: Jennifer Glatzhoffer - aghast and stumbling over her words at every stop. Kaz- walk out at least once with a “Nopenopenopenope” (Twice of watching with Sarah.) Mortius - backs up into green screen wall three times. Or crumpled to the floor twice. DJ_410 - has bass face fan out for 90%of the song, or breaks fan by the end. Sir Hairless - no fewer than two “blimey”’s

Melinda

This will be unpopular, but - when you put the reverb on your deap notes, it kills it both. We do not know if it's you, or the reverb. And, even though i love your higher voice, your base what makes you unique. I'd love this song without the reverb.

Sarah Borzelli

MAJESTIC!!!!!! You say: "such is my lot in life" but you have only yourself to blame because you are so BRILLIANT at making songs UNREPETITIVE, that's why repetitive songs haunt you - holy bells!!! You put so many creative spins on it - I can't even process at this time of night! It blows my mind how you thought to turn this song into something so EPIC! I never cried during this song but here we are! You definitely sent me through a range of emotions here! The instrumentation is perfectly monumental; the strings, the drums, the piano and there is so much more going on but in a very harmonious, yet heroic way. I love also the gentle higher singing against the dull drums. And how can your singing impress even more? You have incorporated the deep, very spectacular notes very tastefully! I love the location and the tasteful, dramatic but noble decorations, too. I'm moved and touched and joyous while crying! Thank you for this precious gift! (I'm so curious, though, what was the other thing you weren't allowed to do? "Last Christmas"?)

Laural Andersen

LOVE this! This song definitely needed a bass version, and you delivered 👏🏻

ANITA M WRIGHT

This is so very awesome! Everything you do is awesome! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! God Bless you Geoff, and tidings to you and your family!

christine smith

I love this! Thank you for this awesome Christmas gift.

Tara Williamson

GEOFF!!! "Carol of the Bells" is my favorite Christmas carol. I can't even tell you how many versions I've collected over the years but I can tell you that this is definitely the bassiest and certainly one of the best!

Stacey V.

Yes, yes, and Yes ! My first guess was right. Thank you Geoff for working through the monotony. It has always been my favorite Christmas song and I love how you turned it on its ear and made something really cool out of it. May you and your family have a great Christmas season.

Lynn Tanner

Unique and beautiful! Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Janet Wright

I recently found out that the song originated in Ukraine when randomly the Ukrainian folks something or other sang it in their native tongue and it was stunning. I had no idea that it would be equally stunning as a bass version. I really liked that you slowed it down. I always feel like my ears can’t keep up with the lyrics when they’re done in the rapid traditional way. I need to watch it a few dozen times more, but I do like sassy Geoff over on the far left along with passionately singing Geoff in the second position. 😆 You’re getting pretty fancy with your multiples. This time all of them walking in one by one. You’re obviously getting a lot more comfortable and brave with your editing. Like many others I want to know what the one that the boss said no to . Happiest of holidays.

Leonie Frenkert-Ghazi

SPECTACULAR, EPIC, INCREDIBLE 🫨 HOW MAGIC! Thank you Geoff! Merry Christmas!

Michele Hearns

This needs a warning - utterly glorious deep base notes held long enough to turn your insides into mush! 3 notes - Hah! I still believe you could make anything singable sound wonderful. Thank you so much and a peaceful joyous Christmas to you and yours! With love and appreciation from Auckland, NZ💚🌲🎁🌲

Andrea Oliver

Thank you on behalf of the ding dongs. You did them justice sir. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Mikki Fullerton

*whew* That was a JOURNEY. I enjoyed it very much, thank you, and look forward to getting it into the playlists! 1. When the drums started I couldn't help but look up for the drummer in the sky to appear. IYKYK 2. Love the set and that fireplace is gorgeous! 3. That added distortion had my daughter freak out her speaker was blowing, lol. 4. Love that super light-touch piano in the back of the middle slower section, oh so sweet! 5. That half-step up (or major chord or whatever it is) at 4:42 is my favorite part of the whole thing, happy ears, happy ears! 6. Those tiny little tinkle bells at 5:07 right before you hit the depths of hell are just the *perfect* contrast. Love the setup! 7. As for doing songs that aren't really traditional bass songs, that really shouldn't matter much, right? Given you're a baritone? 😉 8. And finally, regarding your rant at the end... if you don't like the way the popular songs already out in the world are written, then you should just write us something better, perhaps with more notes in it! 😇

Karen Campbell

I don't know what to say. That was so intricate and mind blowing. Thank you so much for all of your music this year. Its such a gift. Have a very Merry Christmas and the New Year be good to you, Kathy and William (of course we can't forget the pooch too!)

Jill Weimer Koeninger 🐉

Well, Mr. Geoff Castellucci, you've done it once again....how could you? My goosebump's goosebumps had goosebumps!! Chills down my spine with every deep in the basement note! Does Kathy go through having chills like these?? If she doesn't, have her chillator checked out pronto! 😊🥰

Tonia Richardson

Well, I must say, MAHALO NUI, Geoff, for accepting your lot in life, because this is just stunningly gorgeous!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! It's an arrangement of a fave Christmas tune of mine, which could as smoothly be added to a horror movie soundtrack!! A collab with Tim Burton, perhaps? LOL! Seriously, Geoff, this is a masterpiece to be proud of!! I - and I am sure countless others - deeply appreciate your efforts, repetition and all, and shall treasure this arrangement / performance for the rest of my years. Words cannot even come close to expressing how much that lowwwwwwwww rumble means to me and my well-being...then on top of that, your amazing range and talent, producing those intricate harmonies as well as interactive visuals, with yourself!!! Not many artists would or could even consider creating / presenting all of that. Astounding! Captivating!! ALL the things!!!! Thank you so much, and Mele Kalikimaka to you and yours!!!

Cara K

Super, as usual! Thank you! Happy Holidays

KorKnot

Oh wow wow! Loved it & the chills it gave me. Merry Christmas wishes to you & your family, Geoff...and to everyone.

Kyoko Nightstorm

This may not "traditionally" be a bass solo song, but you managed it anyways. I will now be comparing every version of Carol of the Bells to this one.

Tim Radde

Wasn't sure what to expect for this. But I really enjoyed it. Well done.

Embran

You thought you wouldn´t ever do this...really? i always thought it a logical follow up to God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. Color me surprised, but VERY pleased!

Lizzy Hite

So good! It’s like Middle Earthian Christmas and I love it

Sarah Borzelli

Right?!? The clones entering one by one is really impressive!

Coda

This gave me chills. Loved the impact of the bass notes and the instruments in the back especially drums. Loved it. Will listen on repeat

Olivia Edwards

This was AMAZING!!! Carol of the Bells is one of my favorite Christmas songs and you made me love it even more. This was perfect. I seriously have no words for how great this is. ❤️

Lexy Wolfe (aka Pam)

Okay, I'm absolutely laughing because I thought it would have been ANY other song than this one. It's my absolute favorite one. Thank you. <3

Sue Armstrong

For a song that's not bass-y, you certainly made it very bass-y! Two thumbs up!

Scott Boa

This is EPIC. I can't wait for it to go live on YouTube.

Judi B E

I love this song so much for so many reasons. You have made it incredible. My favorite of yours so far. 🎵🔔🎶

Felicity McDonald

Dave: Gonna squeeze his new stress ball unless it bursts, and/or possibly pass out

Tine

Hahahahaha woowww that was intense for a Christmas song😂😂 I really enjoyed that! This was definitely on the list of requests for you so I am pleasantly surprised!

J.L.

When the boss is right the boss is right! Oh my gosh, oh me oh me, if done right, one of my favourite songs ever -- and you took it beyond right, it was amazingly stunning. Wow. This is now THE version for me, no kidding. Well done, Geoff and company, well done, boss! =O,o=

Lynn M

Yep, I knew this would be epic when I saw what song it was, but I severely underestimated the level of epic. This is like God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen crossed with Rains of Castamere. You definitely outdid yourself Geoff. Oh, and thank you for the live studio demo/rant at the end 🤣🤣

Alyssa Daniels

I don’t know how you keep coming up with surprises in these arrangements after four years, but jeez, I was not expecting those held out subharmonics with those sub-woofery almost staticky bass hits on top 😳 Loved the slowed down verse to change up the rhythm. Also giggled over your exasperated ending rant about the repetition 😂 you do a fantastic job of making the whole song fresh and engaging!

Lori Chaslot

I have a new holiday song to listen to ❣️

Alexandria Sommers

Absolutely stunning. I adore the complicated arrangements that you and Voiceplay love, but a simple repetitive one like this give us a chance just to breathe in the timbre and tone of your voice, to enjoy it's luxurious sound. It's like enjoying the complex nuanced flavors of a carefully crafted lasagna but really getting to savor and languish in the savoring of a well-prepared steak. Sure it's simple when compared to the layered flavors of lasagna, but that makes it no less a pleasurable sensory experience. This was the finest steak prepared by a loving chef. And I revel in it. Loved it!

Amy Fredlund

Well you may not have enjoyed preforming it, but I sure enjoyed listening to it! Carol of the Bells is one of my favorite Christmas songs, and your arrangement is really just so fun and gorgeous!

Angie Woollard

You've proven yet again that you can take a repetitive song and give it interesting twists and turns! I'd have loved to be inside your head as you tackled this one, seeing what decisions you made for these unique ways to turned it on its head.

Carol Franklin

Well that was beautiful & the live mini rant at the end added to my enjoyment 🤣🤣. Merry Christmas to you & all the family ❤️

Trixie

Yes, it may have been repetitive, but you’ve made it sound quite beautiful

Jacky Friedman

Never cared for this one because of the repeatness. However because of your highs and looooows and your beautiful voice I love love love it. I found myself sitting here bopping to it and humming with you (don't know the words). I am so looking forward to this going on YouTube and my playlist. Lots of listening to it to come. You and VP both hit it out of the park this year with all of your videos and shorts. And ending with a couple amazingly fantastic Christmas videos.

Jacky Friedman

PS... Can't wait for the behind the scenes on this. Very soon please 😉

Jacky Friedman

Love the analogy and comparison 😊

Judi B E

About making it bass...one of the reasons I love this is because we (our hand-bell choir) did it when I was young (5th or 6th grade). I had the low C and maybe D. They were very large bells and took 2 hands to hold and ring properly and not very often, but that was my lot in life (being a few years younger and smaller than the rest and really not needed).

Jacky Friedman

Totally agree. The other versions are too high for my sensitive ears. That and the fast repeats are what makes me not care for them. Geoff slowed it down and turned it down.

Ethan Kayne

One word. Epic!!!!! That was absurdly epic!!!! The only other version of that song that I would consider Epic would be Mannheim Steamroller (totally butchered that). This had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Definitely going on the playlist right behind your version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. Thank you for the holiday cheer

Jacky Friedman

Or if Dave can't find his ball then his deodorant or candles will get sniffed a lot. Or the dragon will come take his soul 😂

Jacky Friedman

There's a lot of reactors I watch. And 99.9% of them are going to be blown away.

Ms Molly

Well that was by far the most unique rendition of that song ever done! I've done that song in many choirs/acappella groups and it's always sopranos taking on the bell tones of this piece so it was a fascinating take to have your lush deep bass doing it! It brought an almost ominous twist to it that was very unexpected yet exciting and otherworldly! Beautifully ominous!

Leisha Slaughter

Oh I love the trading of the Merry, Merry line between low and high Geoff. And the rumbles. The change in tempo was a nise way to add variety. Also, nice to see Daryl made it into a Christmas song. Fantastic!! Merry Christmas and happy holidays all

𝕸𝖊𝖑𝖆𝖓𝖎𝖊 ♡ 𝕵𝖚𝖑𝖎𝖆 𝕾

Wow! I am so flashed! This is one of my favorite Christmas songs! I never thought someone could make that song even better! But you did it!!! The low notes, how the video was done, how each clone comes in individually, the crackling fireplace, awesome! I was carried away by the atmosphere! Unbelievable! Thank you so much for that epic one! I wish you and your family, and all here a Merry Christmas! 🎄🕯

Alexandra Lorenz

I hear this wonderful old song completely new and I love it. Thank you, I hope you have recovered by now? 😉 And also thank you for the catchy tune that I can't get rid of now 😂

Suzy Bailey

I agree, this is very repetitive but this is your superpower Geoff, turning these repetitive (sometimes boring) songs into something new, interesting and wonderful and we love you for it! This gave me goosebumps, loved it! 🔔😃💜🇬🇧

Martina Kraft

🥹 Oh yes you knocked this out of the world. And with these absolut earthtrembling low note and then going up high in the sky just like an angel... i was sitting here with my eyes and mouth open. And this slowed down part is just amazing and gave me time to breath again. A more than wonderful redention. So glad you listened to what your boss said 😉

Cloudy Skies

Stunned...simply stunned. You turned this song on its head and I love it.

Pat A

The Boss was absolutely right. This is amazing!

Tracy Z

Beautiful ! Hard work I’m sure, but it was great! To me, it’s in the style of “Mannheim Steamroller “ only with the singing I always wised to hear with that music. I have sung this lots over the years. I always get stuck with ding dong repetitively.

Leigh D

Can I just say that, sung well in its original form, I love listening to this song. That being said, Geoff, you have totally transformed this song into another amazing original. This is definitely going into my Christmas playlist. Thank you 🥰

angelika bock

Seasons greetings from Germany, that was just so beautiful and - even of reoetotive - pure Art!

Mia

Take an angelic song and give it The Batman treatment. I am still staring in disbelief at what magic you wrought with this. It is 💣🤯 Amazing vocal agility, creative arrangement, gorgeous singing, perfect staging. I was impatient for every single repetitive theme. My favourite holiday song immediately 🖤

cyberjanet

This I like. It is not the most repetitive song I have ever listened to either, by the way. When is it coming out on Qobuz?

Gaisha Ziapour Edwards

Love it, love it, ❤️ thank you for all your beautiful voices..😁

Agnes EvaR

I don't know what to say. Thank you! I love this so much! I was hoping for something like this. My heart is full of joy, my eyes are full of tears now. It's a masterpiece.

Veronica Thunander

Yes, a repetitive song, but you made it interesting. Beautiful! Say thanks to your boss!😊 Merry Christmas / Holidays everyone!

V.E. Griffith

This is amazing, and I HATE Christmas music.

Loralei Dragon

Bravo Kathy, good choice! I'm very curious about what the other song was though.

Irena S

A wonderful song, incredible interpretation and a magnificent voice! Best wishes from Ukraine ❤️

Sheila Stephens

I've always loved the atmospheric, minor-key advent and Christmas carols the best. That you made a carol I associate with children's choirs crossover to that mood so effectively is spectacular! Thank you!

Petra Harwin

Ok, so I was dubious about this one. I love the original and I thought “I just can’t see how this is going to work”. So, I start listening with that attitude, but hopeful that I will be wrong. Then we get to 3:33 in this video and I find myself exclaiming “Yes Geoff!”. 😅 Absolute brilliance, thank you. This will be on repeat for me.

Anna Mattaar

I never expected to feel threatened by this song 😂 Epic!

Rahel

WOW!! Wonderful! Overwhelming! Why beat my heart so Hard? Thanks so much!

Holly G

I work retail and it's killed each and every song that plays on repeat. Especially the Christmas ones.

Holly G

The real question is....does Geoff now have the earworm from this in his head too!?! I certainly do. Ding dong ding dong...

Maria Moore

Wow ihave chills for days. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it

Kevin McAleese

Merry Xmas to you as well, now that’s talk about this song.. This is just crazy good, the atmosphere is amazing, its like those Xmas songs you hear at shopping centre is like a car sitting on railway tracks and Geoff comes along with the cargo train and just smashes the car off the tracks into 1000 pieces Xmas has attitude again 🔥👊

Rachel Dempsey

Okay i am literally barely a minute into it and i have no idea why this has never been for a bass voice because this sounds fire (maybe pun intended 🤔)!! So good in this range! I never had much feeling for this song other than oh it’s the one from home alone but I love your version and I’m not even finished yet. Merry Christmas and Happy holidays to You, The Boss 😂 (lovely Kathy), William and Tommy.

Rachel Dempsey

Also random but like how “O’ Holy Night” by Carey Brothers was used as the back track of an epic vampire fight scene in the vampire diaries (or the originals I didn’t really watch it but love Carey Brothers) I feel like this version could definitely be used behind some epic scene.

Rachel Dempsey

I should definitely have just waited to the end to comment but this has to be my favourite of your Christmas songs! Don’t get me wrong they’ve all been great but you are clearly going above and beyond every year. I think after these top speed lyrics you’re ready for your Eminem era! 😂😂

Cécile Roussey

I will say it’s great and a word comes to mind: grandiose Not easy to sing, you assure Geoff! As always I am not disappointed ^^

Lana

I never thought that a Christmas song repeated to the point of boredom and processed a hundred times could produce a real miracle, which is originally a choral piece! Geoff, congratulations for making it! You have completely transformed and given a new color to Carol of the Bells. The wonderful vocal agility, creative arrangement, beautiful singing, and the long-lasting subharmonic part erased the boring and usual ringing sopranos in the repetitions, and instead brought real deep feelings and a little dark shadow. You didn't make a new cover, but you took a Christmas song that was slowly repeated to the point of boredom and gave it a new life. You raised it to a very high level with your knowledge, voice, talent and a lot of work. Please don't give up on the repetitive songs, especially if YOU give them a new interpretation!

Leonie Frenkert-Ghazi

Regarding your last comment: Your boss is really strict if she gives you such a task! Is that union-compliant in the USA? 🤣

Mickey H

this arrangement broke me, smiling like mad while tears are streaming over my face, wonderfully done!!

Jeanette Pencz

Oh wow. As soon as you are starting this song I have got instantly goosebumps and shivers. Pure joy and amazement. This is soooo beautiful done and arranged. And proof that you can really do anything - also a song that you never ever thought you would do.

Janina

The goosebumps I got fom this gave them their own goosebumps. So amazing and so poweful 🤩

Pixy P

What a way to wake up in the morning! I was right, it was incredible 💖

Cai

That's a beautiful first day of advent gift to give us. Thank you, I'm looking forward to adding this to my favourite Christmas songs playlist and listening to it all month.

Grand Nagus

Always listen to the boss, specially if she's your wife, Geoff! lol Happy Holidays everyone!!

Helen Surtees

This is the best version of this song iv ever heard my god xxxxx

Debs Badger

Things don't typically come out anywhere until it's released publicly.

Beth Comer

One of my favorite carols, sung by my favorite vocalist. Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas, indeed!!

ChazyUK

Oh I am lost for words ! astonishingly fabulous Geoff, couldn't be better : ) I love the song anyway, not coming from the US I have rarely heard it, perhaps odd times on films or adds, so no monotony here.

Emma Yadkin

Merry Christmas to all. Thank you Kathy for giving such great orders.

Frances Smith

I have always loved this song and it is beautifully done—except, the background music is too loud and it it’s hard to hear your beautiful harmonies. But I have much hearing loss, so that might be a reason.

Ann Durham

SQUEEEEE!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. This is my most favorite Christmas Carol! And I love the nod to Ukraine with the ever-so-subtle blue-and-yellow color scheme.

ChazyUK

I noticed that too, wonderfully done

Katie Jean

You make it seem as though it is not repetitive at all! Bravo!

Carolyn Bryant

Thanks for this gift! I LOVE it! I am so appreciative of the music you have brought back into our home.

Jay Fritz

Great arrangement, and yep, there is room for BASS in this one. The camera shakes are a really nice touch. You continue to amaze. Thanks Geoff!

ChazyUK

Sarah, this is off track but I think I noticed in the live chat replay that you went to see the ''Rocky horror show'' my adult kids, their partners and my Grandson went to see it in Sheffield last week. Did you enjoy ? They all loved it, I was so sad as I always used to go but cant now booo. I did get lots of great pics and vids though. Its the first time my Grandson has been, he's 18 in January, he will be going every year he says haha.

Sarah Borzelli

It was great fun, thanks for asking. I saw it for the first time. The audience participated so well (which isn't a given in Switzerland) , I really enjoyed it! Glad to hear your family had fun too! Sad to hear you couldn't go though! Big hugs!

ChazyUK

Janet yes, Plus the very small hint of background colours giving a little warm hug to those who really need them

Lenka Z.

HOLLY MOLLY. 😲That is for sure the most EPIC Christmas carol cover ever. I was not sure at first how to feel about Geoff covering this song as I´m a lot spoiled by beautiful version from Voctave, but this surpased my expectations million times. It´s so great that I have no words to express it accordingly. Just maybe a tiiiny bit less of volume on the background music, I think it drowns at some points the vocals - and that is eternal shame. But it is splendid nontheless. And now excuse me, I´m going to listen to it thousand more times. 🥰

Janis Carney

Appreciate the nod to Ukraine, and the way the bass drop kicks off the chorus and instruments. Three notes for three bells, chiming in the season. Keep adding beauty to the world, one song at a time.

HGeek

It was amazing 😍 just loved it Geoff, the song touched the soul ❤️

Lee Chowning

Carol of the bells is designed to be accompanied by a set of bells... and the lower bass you go, the bigger bell you need. So... to make it a bass song you need to have BIG bells.

D. Maenad Schluter

I've never felt so threatened by a wish of Merry Christmas. Feels like Halloween Town was helping! Lol, but I love it so much!

Bonnie Kaupp

Geoff! What a beautiful bassy rendition! Wonderful! I love it! Merry Christmas to you, Kathy and William as well 🎄☃️🤶🎅💕

Karen Z

Wow! That was... so great, thank you, Geoff!

Miran Tideturner

What a wonderful way to get into the spirit of BASSMAS! An epic arrangement of a classic song.

Katie Jean

IM SORRY THE KEY CHANGE ON RAISING THE SOUND?! EXCUSE ME?!!! Chillllls

Sandy Mrotek

One of my favorite Christmas songs. It was great. Thank you so much for doing it. Hope your family has a wonderful holiday.

Grace Files

OMG GEOFF I don't know how you do it, this was absolutely amazing😍 Like you said at the end, the song is repetitive but your version did not feel like that at all. All of the changes you made to it made it less repetitive and just added so much to the song. I like the original but I think I like your version more😅 I also love the video, the setting doesn't have Christmas colors but even with that it still feels like a christmasy setting if that makes sense. And I like how you did the camera shakes at the chorus, it added more of an impact to them (not that it wasn't impactful already). I could ramble on and on about how much I love this, it is just perfect. Thank you so much for this amazing Christmas song, and I hope that you will have an amazing Christmas!!❤️

Rahel

Why does my heart beat so strong....

MomLadyJay

Geoff, your talent is showing!

Dorothy Rosenberg

Thank you for this marvelous holiday gift. I’m impressed when countertenors perform pieces usually sung by basses - and vice-versa. Your arrangement changes made the repetition un-noticeable. Instead, your rendition was sheer perfection. BRAVO!!!

Jen Shymanski

This is right up there with God rest ye for most epic Christmas songs ever. For sure will be played year round in my house

John Sarro

Oh my word! This is Jack’s Lament levels of EPIC! Bravo

Beckie Henry

First, let me say how the song blew me away. I was skeptical...but you once again have knocked it out of the stadium! I want to put this up on my page for Christmas. Now, as to the repetitive nature...I know, I know, I know. Being a Soprano, I was stuck with this song most of my singing life. And now that I play the hammer dulcimer, it is always a request, although I admit to sometimes turning it down in favor of something everyone can sing with me. And your response...well, what a great laugh I got out of that. I don't know how to thank you for all this joy!

Samuel Volle

GOOD SIR! What notes were those subharmonics?!? When you said there were some good subs in this piece you were working on, you weren't lying! My Christmas will be merry indeed!

Rachael Dizmang

Merry Bass-mas to all from our favorite bass deity/deities. Fantastic job on this song G, even though it is a very repetitive song. Nonetheless, it's definitely an earworm-y version of this song.

Lee Chowning

Some of his songs would be fun to sneak into the store playlist... this one would bring everything to a halt for a minute or two every time it came on.

Uli Nomis

Ohhhh my G.. it is perfect 🥰🥰

Marie Galaxy

Sometimes a boss can be wrong. But if anyone can make it right, it’s you! You are so, so, so good!! I imagine the boss is pleased, ‘cause it is very pleasing for a song so wrong. 💜💚😺

James Yang

That’s a very special bass bell there!! Very fun arrangement!! And a whining Geoff makes it more perfect 🤣🤣!! Merry Christmas Geoff!!

Karen Grace

Holy cow bells! This is Amazing! I had doubts when I saw what song it was but you blew them out the window!

Amber

Wow! That was so incredible! You took a song that is just ok and made it absolutely beautiful! I love it Geoff! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family ❤️

Joanna

Ah, once again, you've created some terrific melodic hooks that hit my sweet spot (especially at 4:42 and 4:46). A marvelous, bassy arrangement!

Jennifer J C

Thank you 😊 I think this will break some of the reactors 😄

Lori Templeman

I'm not crazy about this song in the higher key--it always sounds frantic and over-caffeinated (and not in a good way) by the end to me. Your version has so much power! I love it. This is up there with GRYM!

Alec Hentschel

I think, the deepest subs were D1s. Not sure tho. I think the pattern is G1-D#1-F1-D1 and repeat.

Magnus Kendall

I love this so much Geoff, I’m not even going to attempt to repeat everything everyone has said here. I did notice though at about 2:10, the Geoff one to the left of center Geoff has his left arm/shoulder cut off by center Geoff’s frame. I don’t know if you can/want to change that but I just wanted to mention it

Shirley27

Was one of my favorite Christmas songs that’s now THE favorite Christmas song. Thanks for singing it.

Amanda Nott

That was awesome! The arrangement was just beautiful! I am curious about something, however... Do you choreograph the hand motions so all of the Geoff's are doing something a little different? :-)

SunnyOutlook

WOW! Masterfully done. The arrangement is exceptional and I’m just blown away. I feel the same way I did when I heard God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen for the first time. The skills here are just getting better and better. One more thing, I just have to say the hair is getting better and better as well. Love the presentation of this whole Christmas package. Thank you for giving the spirit of the season a jump start.

Jen Shymanski

Think my daughter just malfunctioned. This is now her favourite song... Ever!

Katherine Powell

I'm not screaming, you're screaming. 🤯 Those long tone, earth- shattering bass tones....I may never recover. Growing up Carol of the Bells was always my favorite Christmas song because in the midst of all these joyous, upbeat, bright, beautiful songs sat this minor, somewhat eerie sounding, almost manic song with which I was enamored. Geoff, you have just made sure this song will continue to have it's hold on me until the end of time.

Ilona Dever

Watching again and again and I notice that far right Geoff really, really wants to dance!!

Dylan Reubenking

I never thought I'd hear a dubstep-like bass drop in Carol of the Bells of all songs but I'm flippin here for it

Jacky Friedman

Just watched this again since Saturday. Sorry for not watching more. Anyway. This time through I watched more closely to everything else while listening to you Geoff. And I have to say that while I absolutely love the whole video. My favorite parts were when you went super low with the reverb and the video shaking. Your low basses usually don't effect me like super high notes because of my sensitive hearing. But goodness gracious my heart stopped each time you sang those verses.

Sofia Alfenito

ik at this point there’s no way to NOT interpret them as 5 different people lol

ChazyUK

Second listen, absolutely no musical theory or anything else music educated, in the know etc, so yep just a plain old listener of music haha. However, one of my favourite parts is at around 5.08 : ) I love it all of course but that part was extra +

ChazyUK

The subtle yellow and blue both background and clothing, nice touch if I on the right track with my thoughts and feelings

Judi B E

Me, too. Maybe we will see it before the New Year?

MEGAN FEAR

By the way whilst all of the Geoffs are lining up 2nd from the left Geoff's arm gets chopped of when he goes in to Geoff 3s frame

Christine

I just don't know what to think about this. I've never heard anything like it. I just wanted to laugh all the way through and I didn't want it to stop. Has any Christmas song ever sounded so unlike a Christmas song? It is absolutely fabulous, but I don't know why and I find that annoying!

Loralei Dragon

I'd guess not. He doesn't usually do more than one holiday song per year.

Cynthia Ross

Holy heck. Bring on the drama! I couldn’t imagine how you were going to do this one. It’s always been such a high pitched “squeaky” sounding song to me; I couldn’t mentally drop it to your usual range. Thank you for this. It’s now fighting your version of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” for face holiday song. Was this filmed at the same place you did “Ain’t No Sunshine”? It kinda feels like that place.

Karen & Lauren

...and they don't come in Geoff bass size. From what I understand, the carillon bells (as pictured in the artwork for this track) don't have anywhere near the ability to reach Geoff's depths. The largest one is a G2 - weighing approximately 1200 lbs. and having a rim diameter of nearly 7 feet. The odd thing about the bells though is that the fundamental pitch (in that bell's case, the G2) is an octave LOWER than the sounding pitch. In other words, the largest carillon bell made would be sound nearly two and a half octaves higher than the lowest note Geoff sings in this cover.

Mike Nieder

Merry Christmas Geoff. I expected The Carol of Bells to be accompanied with the traditional hand held bells. But no. Geoff accompanied the carol with church bells. Actually church and cathedral bells harmonizing beautifully.

Sheila

Stunning! It gave me chills.

PetraH

Wow - absolutely amazing! Thank you, it is perfect!! The boss was right :-) Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Blue Raven

Ha ha - I think Geoff said in the chat during the hidden premiere, that the far right dude was ddrunk 😄 Cheers! 🥃

Marie DesJardin

Thou SHALT make merry ... else I shall throw thee from the bell tower This is the most threatening Christmas carol I've ever heard. I'm in love with it

Chrissy Lee

I love the darker, more gothic sound to this. It sounds amazing, please keep it up.

Karen & Lauren

As an added note, we all know Geoff's abilities are still notes on the piano keyboard. We also know it would take a 5-string bass guitar to match. But take in consideration this: orchestral basses would need a C extension just to reach the lowest here.... and a pipe organ would require 32-foot pedal stops. The majority of pipe organs only have 16-foot.

Jacky Friedman

Geoff was sitting in his studio one day trying to arrange this but having a hard time. He let out an exasperated sigh. He looked at Tommy who had a light bulb over his head "what Tommy?" " You know what you need in this dad?" "What?" "A very very low growl with the room shaking like my tail is wagging shaking it." "Great idea. Thanks Tommy" as he giving him lots of rubs and pets. And that's how Geoff got the idea to add the low bass and room shakes to the video 😁😂🤣 Ok. I know. My mind is weird 🤔

Jacky Friedman

Hmmm never noticed. I'll have to look closer next time. Thank you 👍

Jacky Friedman

Hence Geoff's higher voices to simulate the bells. Personally I never liked this song because of the bells and high high tenors. But with Geoff bringing it down to a lower level and used his beautiful voices for the bells it has become one of my favorite Christmas songs. I can actually listen to it without it hurting my eardrums.

Jacky Friedman

I'm curious as well. Maybe she'll let him do it next year 😄

Jacky Friedman

Same here. I worked it for 30 years. Now I'm not a big fan of the holiday. Except giving my family gifts. We don't decorate or anything. Just exchange gifts with the family (daughter, grandkids and daughter's boyfriend). And this year my daughter is going to the kids house so I'll be here with the cat. They live with her dad so of course I'm not invited. Don't like each other anyway lol

Jacky Friedman

I think Geoff said in chat the 6th to the public. Which is this Friday.

Jacky Friedman

Know what you mean. I don't like the original but find myself singing this in my head and along with Geoff.

MtheHell (Marcel)

🤣 I have some "Dam, da-da-dam" vibes now, after watching the full video. 😂 A good song or nice arrangement doesn't have to consist of many notes, harmonies, etc. How often do you find 'tonic, subdominant, dominant' in songs (In Germany we call it 'a song with "Stube, Kammer, Küche" = "room, chamber, kitchen") and it sounds great. - Merry Christmas to all at this point, although we'll read us on YT or else before! ;) 🎅

Anikó Estók

💓 This was shocking and wonderful! Geoff has created Christmas in hell and heaven at the same time. I was so drawn in that I only realized halfway through the song that I was crying. I'm struggling to recover, feeling so much... i'm grateful for all of it. Thank you! 🎄 Merry Christmas for everyone!

Gamesz

Perfect way to describe what the ukrainian people might feel this christmas

Jim Weisz

Cue reactors freaking out over the low notes in 3...2...1...

Desiree Cox

Amazing! Thank you for my smile today and the earth rumbling Christmas gift.

Angela Scheiber

After Maybebop taking it on now you have brought the gift of this song to us. Everyone gets other vibes out of it, it's so interesting to hear. Your kinda goth version is unique I must say - I like it, even though I would have probably used the magnetic magic of this song more by not adding those mini pauses between the 'merry, merry, merry' parts between the different heights - it could be s smooth. Any way, it's great as is as well and I love it!

Swan

This cover feels like getting hit by a train (in the best way) and I love every second of it! This is brilliant <3

Jen A AKA Dravengal

Holy Yuletide Geoffquakes Batman! I'm...practically speechless. My eyebrows hurt because they were at my scalp for the whole song! This is my second favorite Christmas carol! This was SO non-repetitive! Brilliant, beautiful! A bass version! My new favorite version!!! If you ever do my favorite "Candlelight Carol," Heaven help me! (Most people have never even heard of it.) Thanks for the wonderful Xmas gift, Castellucci Crew!❤💚

Jen A AKA Dravengal

Oh, and this may sound crazy, but I was totally picturing this version as a backup to a scene in a Christmas action movie, for some reason. Like a car chase or something. Ah well, I'm weird...

Dawn Michelle Jacobs

Powerful! That’s the first word that occurred to me after hearing this for the first time. It’s still the first thing I think of after hearing it several times. This will top my Christmas playlist this year. Thank you for all the work you did to bring this lovely piece of art to us!

Rick Duff

I wanna be Geoff when I grow up…..I’m 62. 😬

Ellen Reiser

You get better looking every year. It isn’t fair.

Tara Congo

This is extraordinary, Geoff! I shouldn't be surprised, but this is far and away the most unique version of the song I've ever heard. This joins GRYMG in the league of "Christmas songs to listen to before a battle" 😆

Sophie Llewellyn Smith

Well, this isn't the vibe I normally get from Christmas carols. This was more... EPIC event in some kind of EPIC fantasy film! And your haiiiir!!! Great stuff, Geoff. Thank you.

Susie Q

The "boss" was right to choose this song. I get why it may not be something you wouldn't normally choose but the way y'all arranged the 5 Geoff parts and how you sang them gave this song life. The low notes blow me away!!! Y'all seem to turn every song, every video into something more than special. I totally agree with all the comments. Epic!

Oma Tee Fry

You have to do what the boss says. It'll be okay. Have another piece of pecan pie.

ChazyUK

Hi Sarah and thank you for the reply. I had a bit of a fall just after Geoffs premiere and before VP’s 🤪 I really hurt my big toe ouch. I just wanted to explain why my reply to you took so long, sorry I didn’t reply sooner. I am so pleased you enjoyed the RH show, we always got dressed up lol 😂 and yep joined in big time. I miss those times but the memories are great 😊 take care Sarah.

Sarah Borzelli

Oh no! I hope you're ok now! I didn't expect any answer back, you're good. Thank you for answering anyway! Take care, big hugs

Silv E

Well, you knocked that out of the park! After seeing this intro, though, can't help but be curious about the other option. Maybe we'll get to find out someday?

Silv E

Also, I actually especially like it when you cover a repetitive song, because it's like a blank canvas for your arranging talent. It's always so fun to see what you'll do with it.

David Wanderer

You never thought you'd do it, and I never thought I'd come across a version of it I liked let alone something this epic. This song is sensory madness for me normally but honestly even my dad would have loved your version (and he was more sensorily-tuned than I am).

Kourtney Frantz

I SOOO LOVE YOU for the mishaps that happen, IN LIFE!!!! 🥰❤️🙌🏻

Sharon Bapp

You are getting wonderful reviews on this piece! Actually enables you to showcase your vocal range. No red and green either. Love the setting and the forward motion and energy you put into the piece. I would think by now you would realize that Kathy is always right!😆🥰❤️

Sharon Bapp

I liked the pauses at the beginning. It added a little tension

Sharon Bapp

That was on my mind also

Sharon Bapp

New versions for a new age.

Sharon Bapp

If I were Ukrainian, I would take this wonder piece as a undertaker le, powerful marching song. I love it

Sweet Caroline

This is my favorite Christmas song, and now I have a fave new version! Thank you so much for this!

Janet Wright

Well, you did it! It is 6 PM on the West Coast on Christmas Eve and you have hit ONE MILLION VIEWS for this!! I have to confess I’ve been checking every day. Today I’ve been checking about once an hour and was delighted to see that you finally hit that benchmark. It just goes to show that you should listen to your wife more often!🤣

Erma Payne

Extraordinary! Love it!

Susana

This video is perfect to show people who think that the voice in the videos isn't yours, that everything is technology. And watching you here, we all know that you have the great gift of having such an amazing voice. Thanks for sharing part of your life with us. Hugs from Argentina.

LJPrettyBird

Surrounded as I am by displaced Ukrainians, I love that Carol!

Carol

This is the first video I heard you do and I have been hooked ever since.

donna stockwell

You are the best ,love your version of this one ❤️😊

Helen D

Best version of this I've heard.

Marna Brown

I love this Christmas carol! I don't remember ever not liking it. And now that we are approaching the Christmas season I will be playing this one LOTS! I am so sorry you didn't like singing it but I am sure glad ya did. Please know you have at least one old lady in Vermont who really, really is very happy. Thanks so much ❣️ ❣️
