Shout out to my makeup artist, audio tech, camera tech, and lead candle blower-outer, Kathy on this one. She's a one of a kind gal, and I'm lucky to have her.

BE WARNED: I'm very topless for part of this video, so younger folks, (or the man-nipple disinclined) please avert your eyes lest you go blind seeing the very pale cadaverous man that I am. It was a necessary part of the shoot to not have any clothing near my neck when shooting the "heads" so that the "Cuts" would be clean and I'd have an easier time in post production. You know what they say, don't work harder, work smarter... and shirtless.

Anyhow, enough said about that. Thank you for everything and let's talk again real soon. This was nice.

Of course you post this while I’m elbows deep in some bbq wings . MUAHAHA 🤣 🎃

Thanks for the warning. I promptly shooed my husband and child from the room 😂

Cadaverous body! Too funny!! I love behind the scenes and this didn't fail. So fun to see some of the steps in making the vid. Kathy does seem pretty great😊

Wow! I would never have guessed that was shot in your living room! I thought for sure you had been in a studio. Incredible, nice job on the video!

Arlene Jacobs

Great to see the BTS! Now I need to figure out how to make the first part my ringtone!!

Katie D

That's my daily dose of giggles 😋 I love bts videos, thank you so much for sharing this with us! 😊💕

Jamie T.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I can't imagine how much work it is to put these videos together and I would never in a million years know how to do it. I am so impressed. I loved seeing how much fun you & Kathy seemed to have working together. After 35 years with my wonderful husband and raising our now 22 year old son, believe me the ability to always laugh together is priceless. I loved seeing Kathy pop up from behind the desk after blowing out all the candles! Keep up the great work, you're bringing a lot of joy to a lot of people.😍

I cannot wrap my head around those heads. How the heck did you do that. Was it similar to how you edited everybody into I Will Survive, by drawing lines between each head and then cutting and pasting them next to each other?

Stacy Tee

It’s always soo awesome to see all the work it takes to makes your brilliant ideas come to life. I hope that once you finally release it that it will always feels like it was worth it!!! Love you the both of you laugh together!!!! ❤️

Ebel Knebel

This was hilarious, adorable, and interesting. I love seeing what goes into making the videos and I love seeing you with Kathy and/or William. Your family is beautiful and so adorable together.

Bradford A Wallick

You two need to start your own production company. As if you aren't busy enough, huh? 😁

Cynthia Ross

Man, that's a lot of effort...sure ain't a job lazy people could handle. I know the warping/teleporting is a computer effect added later, but I'm curious as to how it was filmed. Do you do a shot in each location and the computer creates the movement to bridge from one position to the other, or do you have to film the movement and the computer speeds it up? And for the record...you ain't "cadaverous". I behave myself around married men - never more than light teasing - but...yeah. No. "Cadaverous" is not a word that would come to my mind. I'll leave it at that so I don't get myself in trouble. :)

Olympia

Wow! So amazing to see how much work goes into making one of these videos!!

Kim Taylor

Thank you for sharing the behind-the-scenes. It is wonderful to see how you and Kathy work so well together. I am amazed how much work had to go into creating the entire video with just the two of you doing it. Again your talents go far above just singing. Although your singing is amazing! I always look forward to hearing your range of vocals. I can't wait to see what your creative mind has in store for us and any future clips or photos of you, Kathy and William that your can share. Love seeing how your face and smile light up even more when Kathy and your little one is near. Celebrate and cherish every moment of this new endeavor.

Sunniva Melhuus

I'm dying 🤣 Kathy, you are fantastic.

Kel's Kitchen

I didn't realize you did all of the editing and filming yourself! Makes this all the more impressive. Can't wait to see what's next <3

Rio

I'm glad you didn't burn the set down with all those candles! 😅 I love seeing bts stuff, always makes you appreciate such creative work even more, seeing how much heart, talent and creativity goes into these music videos. That's what makes your works so outstanding! Your (voice-) acting skills are so good btw, I'm amazed every time.

Sophie Llewellyn Smith

Geoff, your creativity and attention to detail are amazing. Thanks for this BTS!

This makes me appreciate the final version even more! Thank you so much (and Kathy)!

Geoff Castellucci

Ha - yeah, under the table was the only place to hide and she needed to get out of frame quickly before the smoke from the candles drifted away. It's a good thing she's tiny.

Geoff Castellucci

Similar technique, yes. The industry lingo is "masking", but basically, yes. The camera was on a tripod the whole time and all the movement was added in post. Because the camera wasn't moving, it was just a matter of getting the angles correct and then removing the green screen, and "masking" out the rest of my body so i could place those ridiculous heads in the shot with the real me. Honestly, it barely makes sense to ME.

Geoff Castellucci

You're correct about the way it was shot, yes. The camera was on a tripod, and the movement was added in post. The "teleport" effect was done with a still of myself with a lot of motion blur added and then that movement was also added in post. It sounds more labor intensive than it is, but it all comes down to planning. If you plan it out correctly, it's easy enough to do. In fact, i learned how from a tutorial on Youtube that a 12 year old did. THANKS 12 YEAR OLD!

Geoff Castellucci

SERIOUSLY. Kathy was concerned that i was gonna go up in flames at any minute!

Rebekah Galy-Davis

In all seriousness, my husband swears by shirtlessness. I got him a shirt for Father’s Day that says “I’d rather be shirtless,” because...well, he would...but in some cases it’s just not appropriate 😂 Love the video. All the green screen stuff is close to my heart. I haven’t used our green screen at work in ages. I just go without talking heads for my promos these days. And somehow I became the “voiceover chick.” Would rather have a voice like yours than me sounding like a 12 year old.

Rio

I have huge respect for fire, especially with longer hair near candles - horrifying. so I can understand her very well!

beelypuff

I love this. This is the kind of quality content I was hoping for.
