And I’m having a little difficulty trying to figure out a song to do for the spookiest season of all. Got ideas? Drop ‘em in the comments and load me up with suggestions (there are no wrong answers here). Maybe we’ll figure it out together.

Thanks!

Jayden Driver

Spooky Scary Skeletons!!! 💀💀

Sophie Plourde

You gotta do Monster Mash!! I remember we brought it up last year too

Chloe

Monster Mash!!!

Katie D

Sweet Transvestite from Rocky Horror Picture Show 🤣 As a more serious suggestion, I would say Monster Mash, as so many others have already suggested. Or perhaps something from Sweeney Todd 😁

Dylan Reubenking

Thriller? I feel like you could put a really sweet spin on it. I haven't seen too many bass singers do a Michael Jackson song 👀

Alisha Watson

I did not need that mental image, Katie🤣

Alex King

Cry Jack from "The Nightmare Before Christmas"?

Randiskye

Monster Mash! They say it'll catch on in a flash.

Tra Mason

Come little children? Don't think I've ever heard a male version, could be interesting.

Celeste Gosling

Oh! Oh! Oh! I have the perfect song - "Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand"

Rebekah Galy-Davis

I’m throwing my vote in with the Monster Mash folks!

Del Rhea Watson

Make it so. 👄👄👄👄👄👄👄

Sophia Schmidt

Jacks lament from the nightmare before Christmas!!

Liz Munro

My 9 year old Ryan said Spooky Scary Skeleton please

Dylan

I put a spell on you

Jojo Hale

Ooooh ooh ooh I have a perfect one! Pick me! Pick me! 👋👋👋 look up “The Shankhill Butchers” by The Decemberists.

Mary Boesdorfer

Spooky Scary Skeletons or the Addams family!

Jojo Hale

Ooooooor, Ghost Riders In The Sky, á la Blues Brothers (in the Blues Brothers 2000 movie)

Tara Congo

"I Put a Spell on You"? Love that one. The Addams Family theme song would also be kind of hilarious.

Jojo Hale

Ooooor……. I Put A Spell On You, either the Creedence version or the version from Hocus Pocus.

Gregory Topolski

Not necessarily Halloween, but maybe Chills and Fever?

Alisha Watson

I Put A Spell On You, the Addam's Family theme or Little Red Riding Hood.

Wendy Bishop

Werewolves of London please!

Debs Badger

• Bad Moon Rising • (Don't Fear) The Reaper • Bad Things - Jace Everett • Creep? (not sure on this one, since you've done Radiohead already) • Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) - David Bowie

Jacob Mustian

don't fear the reaper by blue oyster cult

Helen A

Friends on the Other Side, Weird Science, or Dead Man's Party.

Mike Pearce

Gotta be Spooky Scary Skeletons.

Christine Miller

How about the Jumpin' Gene Simmons song Haunted House? 🕸🕷

Alisha Watson

Looks like Tara beat me to it🤣

Justin Bush

What about Heffalumps & Woozles from Winnie the Pooh? It’s dark & creepy but still fun and jaunty. Plus it has great bass moments thanks to Thurl in the original!

Jen A AKA Dravengal

"The Time Warp?" You could totally pull off playing Riff Raff, and you know many a talented lady who could do Columbia or Magenta! (Apropos of nothing but I'd give up half my MLP collection to see you dressed as Dr. Frank N Furter, Geoff! Though you'd probably make a good Eddie, too.) "Heads Will Roll?" (I loved the Glee Mash Up with "Thriller!") "Somebody's Watching Me?" Thanks for all your hard work, Man! Do you have a P.O. Box?

Hunter

Oof! How'd ya top Headless Horseman? That’s tough. Hmm… Might I make a small suggestion? We haven’t heard you read anything as of late. Maybe a spooky Halloween story to…up the spooks? But, song wise: Paint It Black - Hidden Citizens (it’s quite creepy)

Naomi Norwood

Spooky Scary Skeletons, Living Tombstone version/pacing

Nana Koranteng

I would love to see a cover of Thriller by Micheal Jackson that would be a fun to see

Debs Badger

He does. Check his website.

Nathan Ritchie

I’m a fan of Friend’s on the other Side, Spooky Scary Skeletons, or Monster Mash

Lois McCray

"Spooky Scary Skeletons" Disney 1929

1u3e

Be prepared or Hellfire would be verry cool

Tara Congo

Ooo, forgot about Bad Moon Rising! That's a good one.

Angie Woollard

Monster Mash/Purple People Eater mashup

Angie Woollard

Running with the Devil - Rolling Stones

Amie Brady

Send in the clowns. 🤣 j/k. I need to think on this. Lots of great stuff to choose from.

Angie Woollard

Maxwell’s Silver Hammer - The Beatles. Upbeat tube with creepy lyrics.

Emily Ginn

How about something from Little Shop of Horrors? Could be interesting. I also love the idea of you doing something from Rocky Horror Picture Show (one of my all time favorite movies). Also, anything Disney is always good. I've loved everything that you've put out.

Angie Woollard

Creep - Radiohead. Ok. I’m done. For now. (Sorry)

Naomi Norwood

I think the original is too slow, hence my clarification

Amy Fredlund

My Friends - Sweeney Todd Puttin' on the Ritz- Taco I Put a Spell on You - Hocus Pocus Monster Mash - Gary Ramey Underground - Assassin's Creed Spooky Scary Skeletons - Andrew Gold

SamIAm

Maybe a classic? Monster Mash

Victoria Rodli

I think bass cover of "I Put a Spell on You" would be epic!

Jaidyn Negley

Or Toss A Coin to Your Witcher (monsters & Halloween go great together)

Gretchen G

Johnny Cash - Ghost Riders in the Sky Jace Everett - Bad Things Billie Eilish - Bury a Friend from Sweeney Todd - My Friends from Hunchback of Notre Dame - Hellfire Halloween is the best!

Laura Boley

Couple of different suggestions...Boris the Spider (ori. The Who) or Spooky Scary Skeletons (Disney...almost a mate to your Grim Grinning Ghosts)

Karen Greenwood

Dr. Facilier’s Friends on the other side. I know Jay did it but I’d love to hear your version.

Susan Smith

Superstition by Stevie Wonder Somebody's watching me by Rockwell Eyes with no face by Billy Idol

Alaethea (Ali)

If you want something really weird and creepy, I recommend the Hearse Song. I used to sing it at people while working at a haunted house. Buttttt the general public probably won't like it as much as I do.

Scot Ethington

Haha don't laugh! Do a very bass tweak on Thriller. As a bonus you get to do the talking part at the end of the song.. Would be super unique

Amanda Hovendon

I’ve Got Friends in The Other Side from the Princess and the Frog

Dana

because i am also old, and also boring... i remember buying Monster Mash as a 45 single, and that was my first thought.. thinking you might enjoy making a video for it, in addition to actually arranging and recording it. and then i admit i had a nice little giggle imagining you doing Ministry's Every Day Is Halloween. oh, it might not be everyone's cuppa but i'd up my monthly contribution just to hear it. Bette Midler's variation of I Put A Spell On You, from the movie Hocus Pocus is also a delightful idea.

PJ

I feel like you could do a cool mash up of Monster Mash and Time Warp OOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRR Hellfire please!!!!

Barbara Pinney Carlson

Love to hear what you would do for Witchcraft (1957 Cy Coleman & Carolyn Leigh, recorded by Frank Sinatra), and my second choice That Old Black Magic.

Lois McCray

Somebody's Watching Me, I Put A Spell On You, Witchy Woman, Love Potion #9, Purple People Eater, Monster Mash. Just off the top of my head.

Eastana(4 Kraken)

Black Magic Woman- Santana would be difficult but so satisfying. Love to hear what you (or Voice Play) could do with it.

Kaitlyn Wells

I've got friends on the other side! That would be amazing!

Christina Dowdican

Monster mash, Thriller, I put a spell over you from hocus pocus, heffelumps & woozies, little red riding hood, Scream by Michael Jackson to name a few

Louise Bathurst

Yes it's the best time of the year. Suggestions: I put a spell on you, Creep or anything from Sweeney Todd. I'm sure whatever you do will be amazing.

Christine

I'd like to add my voice to the chorus for "I Put a Spell on You" (Bette Midler) I'd also like to suggest "Mack the Knife", "Remains of the Day" from Corpse Bride or "Friends on the Other Side" from The Princess and the Frog. I'd probably combust if you did a full version of "Hellfire".(Please don't be deterred it'd be worth it😭)

Remember

A playlist for the best holiday of the year: The Addams Family theme song - Vic Mizzy Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon Bark at the moon - Ozzy Osbourne Pet Cemetery - The Ramones Monster Mash - Bobby Pickett Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult

Amanda Hovendon

Welcome to My Nightmare by Alice Cooper or Remains of the Day from Corpse Bride

SisterofWar

Red Right Hand - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (Don't Fear) The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult People Are Strange - The Doors Remains of the Day - from The Corpse Bride

Åse M Bruun Lagnestål

I think “Ghost Riders In the Sky” is a scary good suggestion. 👻 “I Put a Spell On You”, “Thriller” or maybe the theme song from “Ghostbusters “? 🎃 I love “Creep” by Radiohead but I don’t think that’s a Halloween song… 😳

Amanda Hovendon

I Put A Spell On You from Hocus Pocus Witchcraft by Frank Sinatra

Jacklinka

Geoff, it would be a wonderful idea, if you pick several songs here and record some mini examples, even on iPhone. We will choose which one is the best, sitting better on your voice. Maybe we will chose them all! 👻👻👻 Actually, Halloween songs are your jedi force. ⚔️ And also a comfort zone. It will have a great success!

SisterofWar

LOL, this is what I get for commenting without reading - absolutely seconding Remains of the Day!

Katie D

Don't worry, we all know Geoff isn't going to put on fishnets 😆

Ken Hiseler

How about a one eyed, one horned, flying purple people eater!

Jamie T.

My vote would be Monster Mash as it's my favorite Halloween song.

Angie Woollard

I freaking LOVE that song. “By the light of the night, it’ll all be all right, I’ll get you a satanic…mechanic.” Such chewy lyrics.

Katie D

I love it too! Still, I don't see Geoff choosing that song 😂

Alisha Watson

And now I keep picturing Eli as Riff Raff. *glares at Katie* I blame you for this😆

LadyGory

In The Dark Of The Night from Anastasia would be amazing

Lioba

Don't fear the Reaper - already mentioned Pet Sematary - Ramones Jack's Lament - Nightmare before Christmas Devil in disguise - Elvis nearly forgot Ain't no grave - Johnny Cash

Tim Mummert

I would love you to do "friends on the other side" from the princess and the frog.

Cynthia Ross

I like “I’m Gonna Put A Spell on You” as others have mentioned too. And I’ll drop another vote for Black Magic Woman” by Santana. But….I must be older than most here because my first thought was “Spooky” by the group Classics IV, or “Witchy Woman” by the Eagles since you just proved how dang perfect you can sing bluesy stuff. There’s also the fantastic “Legend of Wooly Swamp” by Charlie Daniels…murder…curses….vengeful ghost…yeah. It’s a good choice. 😁 I like ‘Monster Mash” as well, but I think that has a lot of potential for a group project just for all the characters it mentions, so I see that more as a VoicePlay project. Same with “Purple People Eater”.

Steven Mower

Danse Macabre. An orchestral piece. Could mess around with different syllables/sounds and harmonies to make it your own. Would definitely be a challenge though, being that it has no lyrics. I suppose restrictions bring about creativity, though...

Steven Mower

Ain't No Grave would be epic. Definitely something I could see him arranging and performing.

Lorraine Tellei

"Over at the Frankenstein Place" from Rocky Horror Picture Show

Alex Walker

I'm all in for MONSTER MASH! As much as I love Creedence and Bad Moon Rising, it would be great for another video. But for Halloween, Monster Mash is perfect! 🎃👻

Tine

Oohh yess

Tine

Definitely the best part of the year is coming up now. I don't know why this song popped in my head but.. sweeney todd? Although there have been so many good suggestions already..

Kristin Taggart

"Come Little Children" from the movie Hocus Pocus. "The Dark Waltz"... my recording of it is by Hayley Westenra. "The World-Ender" by Lord Huron. (Yeah, I go for the lesser known stuff...)

Frieda T.

Ghostriders in the sky

Hugmany Foemen

It looks like Monster Mash is winning the poll at the moment. However, like Cynthia, I think it would suit the band better, if VP are covering Halloween this year? I think you could really get your creep on with Come Little Children, it would make full use of your seductive voice. But this really is the perfect opportunity for Ghost Riders in the Sky, which has been on the list for a while now... :-)

Or Nir

Thriller by Michael Jackson or creep by Radiohead will be awesome 🔥👻

ZAYRAY!

HOCUS POCUS PLZ!!!!

Seren_Builds

This is Halloween - The Nightmare before Christmas

Alex

I´ve never been into the Halloween-thing, until I discovered Voiceplay and Your "Headless horseman"; in Germany Halloween is not a big thing.Nevertheless I would like to hear you doing "The skeleton in the closet" by Louis Armstrong, a song with chanting, singing and a lot of swing. Can find it on youtube. By the way...what a phenomenal version of "The house of the rising sun" ! Much better than the most known version by The Animals (never liked the shouting part). You did a tremendous job !!!

Alex

Almost forget my favourite song....

Alex

Ghostriders in the sky !!!

Michael Rooney

I think a bass twist on Thriller could be REALLY cool. I can already imagine the ending. 😁 Ghost Riders in the Sky is also a fantastic choice. 😍 My girlfriend also suggests… Haunted House - Bee Gees 😎 Spooky - The Classics IV Maxwell’s Silver Hammer - The Beatles

Luna Koole

Slappy sings a song, Thriller, a full bass cover (multiple bass singers!) Of Grimm Grinning Ghosts, like with Avi, Tim, maybe Peter Hollens

ZAYRAY!

I put a spell on you plz!!!! Ghost riders in the sky would also be another great one!

Rachael Heidi

Oh I cannot wait for Halloween! I would love to hear I Put a Spell on You, anything from The Rocky Horror Picture show or Monster Mash. Don't know if they're something you'd be interested in or not but some ideas haha. Oh, People Are Strange by The Doors ❤️.

WisconSims

Ok hear me out: Disturbia- Rihanna

WisconSims

I'll also throw a vote in for Red Right Hand- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds or Ghost Riders in the Sky- Johnny Cash. Also The Devil Went Down to Georgia or Psycho Killer- Talking Heads or Don't Fear the Reaper- Blue Oyster Cult Baby You're a Haunted House- Gerard Way There's just too many. Whatever you choose to do, you'll make it your own and you'll make it fabulous.

Meg Richardson

Just for a laugh - Purple People Eater or Ghost Riders also would be good

Cynthia Ross

He already did that one as part of VoicePlay. You can find it on YouTube and it’s fantastic. 😁

Beth Comer

Might be a bit of an out there suggestion, but how about Lullaby by the Cure? Definitely creepy, and low enough for some good bass drops.

Dylan

Why did I not think of this? People are strange deserves all the votes

James Pastor

It’s not specifically a Halloween song, but I’ve always thought a bass version of ‘The Cat Came Back’ would be awesome!

Alaethea (Ali)

I do love the devil went down to Georgia

Liz Munro

I’d definitely like to hear your version of Friends on the other side - I think Addams Family theme song, Thriller and Monster Mash are better with all of Voiceplay involved

Liz Munro

Or maybe even Pattycake Productions Bump In The Night

Rita (idolanocircus)

i would looveee to hear your take on Jack's Lament from nightmare before christmas! ♥

Terry Ford

As a low bass singer myself and having grown up in Florida idolizing Thurl Ravenscroft, you and VoicePlay already covered my top three favorites in GGG, The Headless Horseman, and This is Halloween. I always wanted to re-make an acappella version of 'Dead Man's Party' by Oingo Boingo or re-imagining 'Monster Mash'. Also, 'I Put a Spell on You' would make for an easy low bass arrangement.

Terry Ford

I almost forgot that 'Spooky' by Dusty Springfield is a great song to bassify! The Nylons did their take and it was awesome!

Terry Ford

And finally, 'Skeleton in the Closet' by Louis Armstrong has some fun lyrics that lends itself for a perfect Halloween offering. Just please don't do 'I Want Candy'...lol

Allison Waldron

Ghost Riders in the Sky would be great. Dracula's daughter is a fun one too. Or Riboflavin Flavored, Non Carbonated Polyunsaturated Blood. Ooh...Come Little Children from Hocus Pocus!

Nathan B

Hellfire from Hunchback would be amazing!

Debbie Hudson

Would love to hear Ghostriders in the Sky ...even though it is not so much on the spooky side. I think your version would outdo any others...as all your covers do!! The Headless Horseman was insane!!! I love the storytelling with your unbelievable voice...so any like those would be perfect!! You can't go wrong on anything you sing!!🎶❤🎶 You and your family...have a wonderful day!🙏❤🎶🤗

Marcello Bass

Is “asleep in the deep” a Halloween song???

WisconSims

OMG I don't know why I didn't think about it until now.... Zombie Jamboree!!!

Kristin Taggart

I just thought of another one: "Sympathy for the Devil"!

Barbara Binney

I would love ANYTHING from Rocky Horror!

Barbara Binney

I thought "Running with the Devil" is by Van Halen. "Sympathy for the Devil" is by the Rolling Stones.

Barbara Binney

Sympathy for the Devil by the Rolling Stones Superstition by Stevie Wonder Witchcraft by Frank Sinatra or Elvis Presley (2 completely different songs)- Nothing Halloween-y about them except the title, but I like them both. Anything from Rocky Horror ETA: P.S. It's my favorite time of year, too!

Amanda Hovendon

Idk why but I’m also thinking No One Lives Forever by Oingo Boingo. That would be a fun song to do solo or with VoicePlay.

Angie Woollard

VoicePlay has already done Superstition - highly recommend checking that one out!

Angie Woollard

Ugh, you’re absolutely right! I had them both in mind and I just combined the two! 😂

Jordan Hollis

Ghost Riders in the Sky!!!! (not really Halloween but you'd knock it out of the park)

Jordan Hollis

Also on that note of not typically Halloweeny, "Little Red Riding Hood" by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs! You'd do perfect, and you get to dress up as a wolf! haha

Barbara Binney

Ah...yes. I've actually watched on You Tube. Didn't remember until you reminded me. (Getting old sucks.) LOL

ZAYRAY!

Mum wants the monster mash!

Marian Goldeen

OK, so this is a long shot, and I don't know if there's a good translation anywhere, but Le Veau D'Or from Faust? (A Boris Christoff recording gave me chills on this one before you were born!) Et Satan conduit le bal, conduit le bal!

Judy Wilde

This would be in a lighter vein, but I’ve always liked Little Blue Man. (Think Little Blue Girl for you.)

Leme

Spooks - Louis Armstrong ?

Debs Badger

Yay, someone else who said Bad Things! 😁

Debs Badger

I'm kinda digging the 'Dead Man's Party' suggestion... 👍🏻

Doug Beck

Ghost Riders in the Sky, or Mack the Knife.

Penny Cummings

I second or third or however many voted for the Ghostbuster theme...But it would work better with Voiceplay, then you guys could be the busters and I think Ashley Diane has the look of Sigourney Weaver, so she could take on a Dana role... Or Zuul, depending on how you look at it.

Chloe

Another good one would be something from the Addams family!

Rosie Boughen

Someone in the comments above (sorry, I lost it now) said “Heffalumps & Woozles” … and I’ve not stopped thinking about it all day! 😄 💯

Gretchen G

It's just occurred to me that this comment section is an absolute gold mine as I'm putting together my Halloween playlist this year. 👻

Ashley

Rythem of the Night (I guess not really halloween, but always reminds me of it) 🤔

Jennifer Richmond

Come Little Children, The Hanging Tree, or I Put a Spell On You

Jenn Winn

You could do such an amazing version of "Ghostriders in the Sky"! My second and silly suggestion is Tim Curry's "Anything can Happen on Halloween".

Brad Tobin

Anything can happen on Halloween...or... Black Magic Woman, Really no matter what you decide, I know you will blow it out. Although with that being said, it'll be hard to top last year's Headless Horseman. Ok have fun and I'm waiting for an EPIC production. Thank you in advance for all the effort put into the new production. Cheers and Salute!

Christina Dowdican

I also want to add black magic woman & witchy woman.

Jessica Van Breda

Definitely I put a spell on you by Nina Simone of Witchy woman by The Eagles!

Veronica Thunander

I agree with ”I put a spell on you”. Another suggestion is “Graveyard Waltz” by Hooters?

Amanda Fuller

Me personally would love to hear from the group,.. "I put a spell on you" from hocus-pocus, or "monster mash" would be cool,...buuut,..if its just from you,bi think a cover of "spooky scary skeleton." You could definitely pull that off. Good luck!

Gillian Drysdale

Do we though? he might just be nuts enough to try it…..👯‍♀️🧟‍♂️

MarySue Crossett

i like i put a spell on you from hocus-pocus but have fun whatever you choose

Dan Black

Oh, heck, yeah! That would be a great one!

Shari Ann Creamer

I realize I'm late to the party, but how 'bout The Banana Boat Song? You could make it all Beetlejuicy.

Emily Houk

"I Put a Spell On You" is a good one but I would LOVE to see how you could transform "Thriller"!!! Whatever you do will be awesome!

Miranda Rakers

So many good suggestions, mine is Bad Things-Jace Everett

Debs Badger

Yes! Another one who appreciates this song!

Larry Haynes

Ghost Riders In The Sky would be really cool

Rnixon

Mr Ghost Goes to Town would be cool. (The 1930s song by the 5 Jones Boys.)

Sugargirl90

Not a halloween song, but i'd love to see and hear your version of Seven drunken nights. With your sense of humor, it can only be great :D

Jessica Guerrero

This is gonna be kinda long...Ghost riders in the sky, monster mash, purple people eater, dinner with drac, werewolves of London, thriller, I put a spell on you, the blob, the addams family theme

Veronica Thunander

Yes, love this song too! I’m a bit concerned that Geoff might do a version of it that is so creepy that I barely will be able to listen to it... 👻 🥺😉 It would be great, though! 😁

Imogen Steer

I'll put a spell on you either the original or hocus pocus in a lower register would be rather fantastic

Carrie Robb

Monster Mash would be amazing

Catherine Motteram

Purple People Eater... I am sure your son would love that one too...

Penny Cummings

Took me forever, but I saw some others mention it and I'd also love to hear your spin on Purple People Eater. I have so many good memories of that song as a kid. ♥

Liz Munro

Do we know what Geoff’s decide to sing for Halloween yet?

Suzy Bailey

My favourites, I'll Put a Spell On You, Ghost Riders in the Sky or the fun one, Monster Mash. Wow we're a dark and spooky lot! 👻 Can't say you don't have plenty to choose from Geoff! 🙂

Dee Herrera

What a sorry disgrace am I would be fun!

Jess Teerlink

You should do “Remains of the Day” from Corpse Bride😏

Art Adams

Suggestions for Halloween themed songs... I put a spell on you. Monster Mash! Somebody's Watching me. Witchy Woman. I believe you would do really well with these songs alone or with your buddies from VOICEPLAY. 🎃

Brad Tobin

wow, yes I did not think of that, but you're very correct this would be Awesome for Geoff to do

Amanda Hovendon

I would love to hear you do another Halloween themed narration

John Rogers

Either The Monster Mash or Ghost Riders in the sky

Debs Badger

Nope. And we probably won't until he posts the finished product. Personally, I like being surprised. 💕

Joey Sydnes

Definitely Monster Mash.

Amanda Hovendon

I would LOVE a live version of that song. I love that song😍😍😍

Amanda Hovendon

Omg I would love for him to do the Rawhide theme song! Like he did with Saddle Up?!

Jojo Hale

That would be great….. maybe a mashup of Rawhide and Ghost Riders since Blues Brothers did them both! Of course the Clones would have to be in full Blues Brothers costume lol!

Sarah Reach

Not necessarily a Halloween song (good thing too, you have enough on your plate here) but every time I see a request for Ghost Riders In the Sky, I think of The Highwayman by the Highwaymen. I could see it done by Voiceplay, or four Geoff's. It has a kinda creepy reincarnation vibe that I like a lot.

Gary Wagner

Maybe not a Halloween song but I'm sure you could do some great things with Love Potion Number Nine.
