ZAYRAY!

I loved that!!!!!!!!

Emily Dion

I look to you to be my Thurl expert, that's why.

Ellen Reiser

You just want an excuse to not shave ❤️

Angie Woollard

We can't do ALL your work for you, Geoff! Look at how happy you are, finding this song all on your own... The sense of ACHIEVEMENT, Geoff! Don't you love the sense of achievement of unearthing this one without us badgering you for it? 😅 I never knew I needed to hear this song until just this moment. OMG this put such a huge grin on my face, Geoff! Thank you for this unexpected treat!!

Anja Eder

Ooh my god!!!! That was so cool!!!!!

Ashley Evers

OMG I’m laughing so hard 🤣🤣🤣

MJ

okay then

Filiz E

Never heard it before but I love it ❤🖤

Karen & Lauren

How did we not bring this to your attention? Wait. You mean you don't know every Thurl song?

Beth Comer

I wish I could say I'd ever heard of it before, but I'm awfully glad you found it to educate us! This is such a delightful surprise this morning (and an awfully catchy tune!).

Katie D

I didn't even know this song existed, but I'm so glad it does 😄 I've had a rough few days, this was a nice surprise 😊💖

Michael Lackey

Awesome, never heard this one before. Now do your take on The Ballad of Davey Crockett.

Denaliland

OH I'd forgotten he sang that Perfection! But where's Babe? He was my favorite of all the Disney folk tales. Looks like he still is.

Lady D Richter

Thanks for doing more of what you want! That was cute and fun! BTW this is just another example of how we Americans will use anything but the metric system, cuz were STUBBORN like that!

Jeanette Pencz

Never heard this song before. But it is fabulous 😃😉 You put such a huge smile in my face with this song 😁 Thank you

Amanda Hovendon

I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT PAUL BUNYON!! THANK YOU GEOFF!!! Do more minis like this!!!

Lexy Wolfe (aka Pam)

I might have heard it once, but I don't remember it. This is fricken awesome. Thank you so much.

Mikki Fullerton

Wait, so you didn't do your research Thurlly and you're trying to blame that on us? 🤣 Thanks for another song!

Connor

Amazing! I need this on my music platforms like Spotify so I can listen to it all the time

Joshua Vandenberg

This is a song i didn't know i NEEDED to hear geoff sing, all the yes!!!!

Angie Woollard

"Thurlly" *stands and applauds heartily*

Peter Gregg

I remember the Paul Bunyan cartoon. Forgot that it had music.

Joshua Vandenberg

Was a disney animated short, american letends or american tall tales, something like that, they also did john Henry

Sarah Borzelli

Heeeeyyy how come you had such fun and didn't tell us?! Great! Thank you for this very pleasant surprise! Love your very last expression!

Patricia Schuman

I'm ashamed to say I had never heard this song before either! By the way, Geoff, have you ever heard Thurl's versions of the songs from 'Babes in Toyland' from the album prepared for kids rather than the movie soundtrack? I grew up listening to him be the voice of 'Barnaby' so was quite confused the first time I saw the movie later on and heard Ray Bolger's quavery tenor instead of Thurl's booming bass, LOL.

Debs Badger

Fine. Kick me off the crazy train, then. 😜

Jacky Friedman

That was awesome. Very upbeat and catchy. Agree with Kaleigh Henderson. I remember this from when I was a wee lass. Even watched the cartoon with Paul and Babe. Thank you Geoff.

candi lunsford

So made for you! I hadn’t heard this one either.

Lexy Wolfe (aka Pam)

Oooh, that one! Oh my gods, it's been...a really long time since I saw that one. Eesh. It's older than me by about 11 years. I probably saw John Henry, too.

AmbularD

Well done, but 6'3"? Growing up I recall the stories saying that Paul was supposed to be a literal giant...

Mikki Fullerton

I always liked the Davey Crockett one...

Dominique

Thank you Geoff, that was fun! It had the flavor of Saddle up and it worked perfectly for the song. 6’3 was tall way back then, now I guess it is not anymore.

Melissa Randall

Next few verses have to be about Blue! Great song!!!

Diane Holland

Wow! You brought me back to my childhood. I remember playing this song on my record player. I love this version.

Virginia Small

What about that Canadian song, The Frozen Logger? That would be awesome.

Virginia Small

He's 63 ax handles high. An ax handle can be 32 to 36 inches long. That's pretty tall.

Grim Grinning Tracy

Always love a Thurl tune! You should have held up a roll of paper towel at the end.

Agnes EvaR

I haven't heard this song before, but I love it. And now I'm smiling. Thank you!

Angie Woollard

Do you mean the Log Driver's Waltz? I have such fond memories of growing up with that one.

Miranda Rakers

....although I just watched it again closely and it does look like Geoff says 6 foot 3 axe handles high, but as someone born and raised in Minnesota I have always known the lyrics to be "He's 63 axe handles high"...so now I'm questioning my entire life.

Sara Wolhart

Did you know that Minnesota was the birth place of Paul Bunyan? I'm pretty proud to call it home! And in my hometown, there's an amusement park called Paul Bunyan Land. Minnesota has a lot of tourists from all over just to go to the park! I love living in the state! Born and raised! Great job on the song! It takes me back to where I was at the park and heard the song for the first time! Loved it so much!

Jordi S

I always liked the Davey Crockett one also

Davide Dalmonte

this was amazing Geoff! you should absolutely post this on Tiktok

Tine

Oh my gosh🤩🤩 we are getting Geoff mini's now? I love it❤️👏🙊

Lois McCray

I forgot this one. Paul Bunyan and his Blue Ox Babe. Remember watching this on The Wonderful World of Disney way back in the olden days.

Amanda Hovendon

I love Babes in Toyland! And I have listened to Thurl’s album on Spotify

Justin Bush

Oh this is glorious!! Those Disney & Thurl vibes, coupled with those harmonies, really reiterate to me just how perfectly you would do Heffalumps & Woozles from Winnie the Pooh. That little singing bass honey pot would reach new lows if you gave it a whirl~

Jordi S

That was tons of fun! I had not heard that before, Thank you for making me smile today.

AmbularD

Ah, yeah, I just misheard the lyrics. Thanks!

Amanda Hovendon

YASSS!! I still want him to do Davy Crockett too. I believe Thurl did a cover of that as well

Hunter

You are too good to us Geoff! Goodness me! Thank you!

Sarah Roberts

Nope never heard it before. Hard to tell someone about something you didn’t know existed. XD

Amanda Hovendon

Haha I was hoping someone would mention that 😂. BRAWNY

Sandy Mrotek

So great. Thank you so very much. Made my dad a good one.

Patricia Schuman

Well, I guess he's waiting for Geoffsula to sing that part.

Angelika Bock

Thank you so much for the ear candy - and for brightening up a dull day...

Virginia Small

No. It's The Frozen Logger. I don't know if it goes by another title. It was written by James Stevens, and is an American song. I thought it was Canadian. Check the animated version on You tube. Come to think of it, that old song has a bit of violence, and a death. Geoff just might pass on this one.

Suzy Bailey

I've never heard this before but Geoff, you are always bringing the sweet notes and smiles. Thank you for this special Geoff mini, it was a lovely surprise! 👏💜

Randiskye

Thurl Ravenscroft. One of Geoff's bass idols. He did a LOT of work for Disney, in voicework for both films and the park announcements. You can look up his works on YT. He also sang "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch "in the old cartoon version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", and was the voice of Kellogg's Tony The Tiger. He was truly "Grrrrreat!"

Patricia Schuman

You will also hear Geoff channelling Thurl Ravenscroft in his vocals for VoicePlay's "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" and "Grim Grinning Ghosts", and in his solo videos "The Headless Horseman" and "Saddle Up."

Bonnie Kaupp

I have long forgotten this song. Awesome job!

Randiskye

Nope, it still is tall 😄!

Gillian Drysdale

looking like a lumberjack there Geoff! ❤️

Melissa Struxness

I should know that one lol. Just thought it was initials for something. Did not think of Ravenscroft. He sang Mr. Grinch right????

Ashley Evers

This is *exactly* why my answer to 'what should I do next' is always 'do what YOU want to do'. The results always make me so freaking happy 😁

Shirley B Karr

How fun! Never heard it before. My only connection to Paul Bunyan is a family pic next to the statue of Paul and Blue the Ox at Trees of Mystery in Eureka, CA. I was three. Anyone else have flashbacks to the Lumberjack Song by Monty Python? Ha! And Geoff, congrats on 720k views on FPB and still climbing! I think you're gonna have to brace yourself for being recognized in public more often. Trips to Michael's might never be the same.

Lacy McCloud

You look like you should be on a package of paper towels!! (In the best way possible!) They would def sell more paper towels!

Shirley B Karr

Thurl Ravenscroft had a long and prolific career as a bass singer and voice actor. Probably best known for singing You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch (VP did a version) and being the voice of Tony the Tiger ("They're grrrrrreat!"). Geoff did Headless Horseman in the voice style of Thurl.

Tara Congo

I've had a particularly frustrating day at work so far, so this was an absolute breath of fresh air and brought some much needed smiles. Love this, Geoff! So fun!

Tine

oh Geoff, you just RADIATE joy and giddyness and I am HERE FOR IT. This feels like it came from the depth of your heart and I love it so very much. What a silly little song to evoke such a thing. But I really really love how much you seem to love this. That is magical

Ilona Dever

Now if you just had an axe slung over your shoulder..... didn't your dad have one in the garage??

Emily Houk

Oh my goodness!! What a fantastic treat to start my day!!!

Barbara Binney

It's THURL so I assumed you already knew about it. Glad you got a chance to wear the Brawny paper towel guy red plaid shirt again. It looks good on you. And, as always, great job on the song and video. Loved it.

Cyndra

Love the song and that smile! ❤️

Sarah Reach

Oh my goodness, this song is PERFECT! I hadn't ever heard it, but I am so glad you made this for us. You spoil us! Also, glad you had your Brawny shirt handy, perfect look for it too!

Melissa Struxness

Thanks guys. I do know who he is grew up on him but just fir some reason saw the cap letters and thought it stood for a slang. Did not even think of Ravenscroft. People say he copies him too much. Well everyone has their faves they kind of worship and copy.

Eileen Parkman

I just adore when you channel Thurl. You perfectly capture his timbre and his delight in singing. <3 <3

Heather Gibson

I never heard of this song before but it's a catchy tune. Can't wait to hear more since you all ways put a smile on my face.

Maryse B

A first Listen for me. Joyful and catchy song. Thank you Geoff!

Janet Wright

I am really old, and I could actually visualize that cartoon as soon as you started. It’s been a long time (it came out in 1958), but both my grandparents worked in the logging industry, live near the Big Trees and I grew up on stories of Paul and his blue ox, Babe. Thank you for the great memories. My grandfather worked in the coal mines, worked as a train engineer and worked in the logging industry so 16 Tons, Big Bad John and Paul Bunyan were all part of my musical history as a child. Now you just have to do Casey Jones and John Henry. 😉

Janet Wright

And Casey Jones and Johnny Appleseed! Some of the main stages of my long ago childhood.

Janet Wright

Someone remarked that if you download the song you can play it as a local file through Spotify. I haven’t tried it yet but I am making a list!

Tracie Schlaak

This totally brought a smile to my face. It looks like it brought one to you as well. Excellent job on harmonies!

Janet Wright

I spent a lot of family vacations in the Sequoia Trees of Mystery in Northern California on the way to my grandparents house who both worked in the logging industry. I heard that Paul Bunyan song the whole time grandpa worked there. Trees of Mystery has a giant statue of Paul and Babe out front just like one in Minnesota. (not as old, yours is the original .🙂). It used to freak me out as a kid because they had somebody watching and when kids go by they have a speaker in Paul’s head that says things like “well, there is a cute little girl in a pink T-shirt “🤯. Later I found it amusing, especially for my brothers were startled the first time.

Jay Fritz

What a treat!! I remember this from the an animated story of Paul Bunyan I saw when I was a kid. Next I suppose you're going to do the Jolly Green Giant jingle! Thanks, Geoff for the wonderful memory!

Debbie Casler

Love, love, love this comment! Hahahaha I think it speaks for most all of us. ; )

Amanda Nathan

Oh, that was so much fun! And the main reason why I didn't say anything was because I assumed you already knew about it!

Gretchen G

So much fun! I don't think I've ever heard that song before.

Carol Franklin

I’ve never heard that before but it’s great

SunnyOutlook

Smiled so hard it hurt, in a good way! Thank you!

Erma Payne

You certainly know how to make my day, Geoff. Thank you so much!

Ashbii

Loved it, smiled the whole way through and long after!

Tine

Also, this is super reminiscent to me of Saddle Up and I do really enjoy that one, so I'm just very pleased with you trying this out.

Karen Grace

I've never heard that before. I enjoyed it! Thank you.

Amanda W

I wanted to like Debs' comment calling you a dork, but I couldn't find it. 😂😁😜💜💜💜

Huldra Draco

lol, this was amazing, Geoff! love it when you do stuff that YOU want to do, that always makes it extra special ❤❤❤ thanks for the smile!

Stephanie Graham

I know I have heard this song although it was years ago, but I didn’t know it was Thurl Ravenscroft who sang it. I should’ve known though as he was the go to singer for Disney at the time. This is a great rendition of the song. You sound amazing as usual. 😊

Lizzy Hite

This was a fun surprise today—love it!

Mary Benno

And Johnny Appleseed & Davy Crockett

Mary Benno

Look up the “Disney Legends” animated movies. Not sure if it’s on Disney+. I’ll have to look. These are what I grew up on. So glad you discovered them.

Veronica Thunander

I’ve never heard it before, but it’s great! Thank you for this!

Tiredlady

Growing up, this was one of my faves. Thank you for doing this one!

Christina Dowdican

I did not know this or I would have! I love Thurl's work! Thank You for doing this! I Love It! Shirt looks great too 🙂🙃😊😇

Debs Badger

I can't call him a dork EVERY time... 😆

Alex Walker

Wow! Phenomenal WOW!! 😍

Shari Hibberd

Hadn't heard that one before, but I love it!

Lynn M

My favorite thing about this is clearly how much fun you had singing it.

Ruth Feiertag

What a splendid gift for today! Thank you.

Ameejo Taylor

OMG I love listening to your voice... that was awesome ... thank you... :)

Laryn Ann Tapp

I thought everyone knew this song...I'm sure it has nothing to do with age!! ;)

Chase D Bunnee

That was fantastical Geoff! I love the old Disney ballads! One of my favs that I could see you creating an amazing rendition of is the song from “The Saga of Windwagon Smith” sung by the Sons of the Pioneers and led by a deep voiced Rex Allen! Check it out!

Judith Kern

Perfect song for a perfect day! Thank you!

Cindy Barber

Love it, I do actually remember this song...crazy.

Michelle and Quincy

Geoff doing Monty Python would be ..... Can you imagine how many YouTube reactors would come out then???

Deborah Krach

I remember this song from long ago. You did a great version of this song. I love it! Keep on doing what you do so well!

Nana Koranteng

Good ol Thurl. Reminds me of Saddle Up. (That one is so underrated)

Lori Templeman

You're a lumberjack and you are (so much more than) okay!

Tracie Schlaak

When is this going viral? I want to share with everyone! I may have listened to this at least 50 times!

Tine

I had never heard of this song before you posted this and now this is seared into my brain. In the most joyful and positive manner, rest assured. Also.. just wondering; are you singing "He's six feet three axe handles high"? Is that a usual way to say it, seeing as the original goes "He's sixty-three axe handles high." ? Perhaps that is just creative liberty on your part of course, I just haven't heard of such phrasing in the English language yet, so that had me curious :)

Shirley B Karr

I was wondering the same thing! I've been known to mishear lyrics, but it does sound like six feet three axe handles rather than sixty-three. But in the beginning of Valhalla Calling, I hear J saying "calling ream" rather "me."

R. W. Hansen

This brought me back to my childhood in the best way! Thanks so much for sharing!

Sandra JB

This is a great song for you to do! I really enjoyed it...FUN!

Shannon D

I'm sure glad you brought it to our attention, it's awesome!

Paula Jordan

Fun song. Can you do Angel Eyes by Jeff Healy band?

Barbara Binney

^^^^YES! This please! It's such a beautiful song, and I think it would sound even better in Geoff's lovely voice.

Spots Knight (I never use my real name online)

I think I found my new favorite!! I have not heard that song since I was a kid way back in... wait never mind lol I can't wait for this to go live on Youtube so I can share it!

Paula Jordan

That's where I'm at. We should bug him to do it. Get a ton of fans on our end. HaHa

Helen A

Love it! I had completely forgotten that Disney did a cartoon about Paul Bunyan but listening to the chorus of this brought it back. Back in the days of "The Disney Channel" on cable, they used to show Paul Bunyan occasionally, paired with either Johnny Appleseed or Pecos Bill. (The Pecos Bill song would be really fun to hear you do some time, btw, though you might have to skip a verse or two that isn't exactly p.c. Is yodeling among your many talents?)

Levonne Price

Love it, Love it!!!!!! I cannot ever get enough of Geoff!

Tine

Ah, I now hear that it was changed to Sixty Three in the final version. :)

Cécile Roussey

I really like It’s playful, joyful, alive and no false notes in the chords! And when I watched this video, I had a smile that never left me...
