Totally going with gum on the ceiling 😂 I like that you can see the rack of laundry in this one. (Hello, Goff's shirt from Way Down, and lead singer's shirt right behind it!) The one showing the text message gives too much away. Re #1: I’d be more contemplating, how did mustard get on the sombrero in the first place…?

Riley

Difficult to choose between 1 and 2!

Sarah Borzelli

HA I was just rewatching 'Blue Christmas' right now!

Carcidon

While I really like the colour balance/blend on three, I don't think the brilliance of the text humour should be spoiled in the thumbnail...

Tine

Hmm.. I prefer pensive and tortured though staring at the gum on the ceiling is a great second option. The text just kind of spoils the funny, which is a shame, the unexpectedness was hilarious

Girl On Fire

I voted for Number 1, but Number 3 is the most shocking by far haha

Beth Walsh

#2. No particular reason, just going with my gut reaction.

The Lou Crew

I agree with you on the text message picture even though that is my favorite part of the video.

Lacy McCloud

This poll popped up just as it ended!

Alyssa Daniels

#1 I think has the best visual composition

Amelia

We never did fing out what Bill thought about those sheets. Were they ok for sensitive Geoff skin?

Gundula Mayer

Going with thumbn. 4, since the surprise about the funny section and the hopeful ending will be higher ;-)

Tara Congo

4 is way too serious for the actual tone of the video, imo. 3 made me laugh out loud, but ultimately went with 1!

Amanda Hovendon

Imma say the 4th one. There’s a lot less going on in the background and I feel like it focuses on you more. I also like the colors in that one and it’s just simple looking. It’s just easier on the eyes.

Michelle and Quincy

Do we vote based on picture or by the description of the picture??? HAHAHAHA

Mikki Fullerton

I voted Pensive and Tortured since the extra brightness drew my eye in the 'what makes me look first' test (although I left out the one with the blue textbox... that one did draw the eye more, but gives away WAY too much). Also, use vinegar water for the mustard stain... 😄

J.L.

I want one to won, er, win. Win to win? One! There can be only one! =^,^=

Sarah Borzelli

I'm going with 4, pensive and tortured (what does that say about me?) although I'd prefer the title to be centered. This one caught my attention because of your face being closer but now I'm really on the fence about the one with the blue text box - that is something new and maybe a little more clickbaity?

Skatemyway

I think #3 would get the most clicks on YouTube because it would stir curiosity.

Anna Mattaar

I voted #1. The colours and composition are great, the Christmas decorations are clearly visible, and it's not too sad but without spoiling the twist.

Erika Morton

Those descriptions are sending me

Nic

#3 ♡

Filiz E

I went with 4 for being a closer shot of you, but my fav is 2 and 3 is just hilarious

Amanda Nathan

Can't do 3! That gives too much of the game away!

Gail R.

I was torn. #3 definitely got my attention so I would click on it. The downside is that it ruins the surprise of the humor section. I voted for #1.

Sarah Reach

I went with #1 because I like the subtle blue light you are looking towards, and I also like #4. #3 is best revealed in the video, keeping the element of surprise.

Ashley Evers

The text box absolutely drew the eye the most, but I would go with the truck on fire text, or the part about having numerous transgressions. This is too much of a spoiler 🤣

Mythos Myths

😎 #3 because, if I did not know about G, I would definitely click on that video.

Tara Congo

I changed my vote to 3, although that definitely seems to be the minority opinion. Your regular audience is probably going to click on the video regardless of the thumbnail, but the text shows that this is something totally different from the other Blue Christmas covers floating around. It's the one that caught my eye first, but I originally decided against it because it's so spoilery; but it's also kind of clickbaity, which can be great for the general public

Tara Congo

Yeah, agree with that! I like the text, but maybe save the most insane one as a surprise

Mikki Fullerton

What about the blue text box for the eye-catching pop of color, but put the title of the song in there instead of the spoilered secret?

Suzy Bailey

I'm in agreement with most others, 3 is hilarious but gives away the surprise and of the others no.4 stood out the most, I like the colour balance and the focus being on you! 😊💜

Gretchen G

I like the Geoff in 2 best, but the background in 1 best. It's more blue and more Christmas-y. They all look pretty good though.

Lori Templeman

I voted for 1, but it is more or less tied with 4 for me. No on 3--don't give away the text!

Angie Woollard

Very good rationale, Tara! Totally agree.

Brontesaurus Rex

I don't think 3 will thumbnail well, but it made me laugh so it wins anyway

B Sprak

I liked 3 best. It's hilarious & eye-catching!

Jeanette Pencz

I voted for 1 (just because I like the explanation ;-) But I like them all.

Katherine Powell

I went back and forth between 1 and 2. Number 1 has mostly blue lighting and the little christmas tree, but the background doesn't feel as dynamic. Number 2 still has some blue lighting, I like the rack with the clothes in the background, I like your face just a tad bit better. It doesn't feel as Christmas-y as it's missing the little christmas tree and you can't see as much of the garland, but, I mean, it is Blue Christmas....ya got kicked out....it's not supposed to feel homey in my opinion. I like them both, but ultimately voted number 2. How does one get mustard on their sombrero to begin with anyway and gum on the ceiling is equally as puzzling.

Laura

Thumb 3 looks like it could become a meme...

Bob Mutsaards

After reading the comments so far, I didn't expect 4 to be the most-voted at the moment, but yeah 4.

Ann Durham

Hmmm - can't get the thumbnails to open. But just from the title I like Pensive and Tortured.

Debs Badger

I'm honestly not crazy about any of them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Katherine Linkous

Can't see any thumbnails. Or fingernails, or toenails. I'll just have to guess.😆😆

Angie Woollard

In all honesty I’d kinda love the shot of the laundromat like in the Patreon teasers. I realize that’s a terrible marketing move though as your handsome face will get the clicks, not a dingy laundromat. But gosh that’s an atmospheric shot. I realize though this is “thinking like a patron who already knows and loves you and has already seen the video,” not “thinking like a doom-scroller looking for something awesome to feast their eyeballs and ear balls on.”

Debs Badger

They are attachments in the post, you have to download them.

Angie McDougle-Curl

I agree with Mikki. I like the text box one but it would be better to have the title in there or even a song lyric as to not give away the surprise. Aside from that, 2 or 4 would be my choice, but I don’t feel strongly about any of them tbh.

Lynn M

I voted #4. Like others said #3 is hilarious but gives to much away.

Dorothy Rosenberg

I’m voting for #3 because it has a unique, personal meaning for me. My husband is so sensitive to laundry detergent than his sheets must be double rinsed. I know it’s wrong for this song; but when Geoff read that email message, I lost it. Realistically, I suppose #4 is the best: it reflects the mood of the original Elvis song - so Geoff’s rendition will come as a wonderful surprise.

Jacky Friedman

I'm having trouble with the downloads. No matter which ones I click on to DL it only wants to give me the same 2 pictures. At first it did all 4 but I couldn't figure out which one was which in my photos. So my vote is whichever the one with the hanging shirts. Or the close up of you. The captions give too much away. It's a good picture. So maybe if you take out the captions and just had the title. Not crazy over the one of you just standing and looking up. No phone. Also gives away too much. Of course the ultimate choice is your's 😉👍

Jacky Friedman

I do too. Like the picture but not the text.

Jacky Friedman

I agree about the teaser shot. It is actually the best one. How about that one as #5?

Lexy Wolfe (aka Pam)

If the picture is tiny-tiny, #1 looks best because there's a good patch of blue on the left and you can identify details. #4 needs more blue light. #3 is cute but unless the image is big enough, old eyes won't be able to read it. #2 needs a teensy bit more blue on the right. Unfortunately, this is one I will not be listening to. It made me cry before I lost my husband. I just can't still.

Shirley B Karr

#4. With #3 as a close second though it might give too much away. The text/font is clear, the image is uncluttered, and it will look good at thumbnail size. You look great in 1 and 2 and I love the visual of Christmas decor in a laundromat (what a depressing place to spend Christmas; perfect for the song), but I'm distracted by what's reflected in the machine glass and hanging on the clothes rack. (Goff is doing his laundry!) If you had time/energy to edit out the distracting reflections, I'd go with #1. I'm still twitching at how you fold shirts, btw, with the sleeves just flopping out every which way, even the long-sleeved t-shirt hoodie you wore in AIWFCIY. Ack! 😝🤣

Lorraine Tellei

#1 is more blue than the others, except the one with text which spoils the surprise

Jamie Marcus

I voted #3 . I like the the picture best of Geoff, and the texting part of the song made me crack up bad the first time I listened .

Cécile Roussey

I vote the fourth because it reads on your face... emotion: everything is there! ;-)

Ruth Feiertag

I like how blue the first shot is (though you might want to crop it a bit to focus more on your face). The only one I think you should definitely NOT use is the one that reveals the text message. Part of what makes those texts so sparkling is the surprise of the humour!

Melanie Hobbs

I like the colour and composition of the first shot, especially the inclusion of the tinsel and the Charlie Brown tree. But I like expression on Geoff’s face better in shot #4. I’m torn between the two shots, but I decided to go with #1.

SunnyOutlook

I like number one because it has a blue tint to it with number four a close second. However, number 3 is hilarious. I think it will be fun for people the first time without having any hints as to what is to come. I know the song is a heavy one at Christmas time, but adding some humor with the adorable, hopeful ending is a very nice touch. A definite Geoff thing to do.

Anne

I agree with Dorothy. I voted for #3 because I thought it was hilarious. But a more "responsible adult" choice would be #4, in my mind.

Julie Gallagher

I'm torn between 1 and 2. 4 is a good one, but just looking at it makes me want to cry before I even listen to the song, so... Also I agree that 3 is hilarious.
