Hey There!!!

Ok Ok OKAY. So i Said I'd NEVER do this song, and yet here we are, together again, getting ready to watch yet another video of another song that you asked for that I finally agreed to record. See - - - all you have to do is pester me for a few years and I'll relent. Squeaky wheel gets the grease and all that.

The original concept for this video was going to be a shot for shot remake of Chris isaak's video, but Kathy and I couldn't agree on her wardrobe or which EXACT beach to roll around on so... we ended up with this. One less thirst trap, i suppose. 

Anyway, I mention it in the preamble, but i genuinely enjoyed working on this track, so I genuinely hope that you genuinely enjoy it too. Thanks for suggesting it a thousand times and thanks for being here. Much love and all the hugs.

I LOVE this in the lower register! I was never a huge huge fan of Chris Isaac’s version (I did love the HiM rock cover, possibly because Ville Valo also sings in a lower range) but this is just pure goosebump inducing song greatness! 🥰

I never liked Chris Isaak's version...but I just knew that would be a song you would make great. I'm genuinely thankful you did it in the growly grizzly bear style of 'Till Then' and 'Further on up the Road' I love the simplicity of the visuals and the song and yet, there is so much going on! With such a simple, yet beautiful set you made it so interesting using different angles. And all the sounds layered in the song...so well placed! It's just stunning. Excuse me while I go cry some more!

I just about choked on my dinner when I saw this notification. I couldn't believe you did Wicked Game. It's also probably better you and Kathy couldn't figure out which beach to roll around on because, let's be honest, that thirst trap would've broken the whole Internet. 🤣 On to the music. STUN👏🏻NING👏🏻 , sir. That first drop at around 2:55 made me gasp. About halfway through I suddenly realized.... Are we going to get any harmonies? Then, of course, we did, and they were gorgeous. 😍 Then I was thinking how I was really enjoying this song in "Geoff register" and when I thought the whole song was going to stay there, you took it soaring up.... Just beautiful. This is fantastic. I can't wait to listen to it 500 more times. Geoff - Not only do you nail the vocals, but you've really hit the emotions well on this! There's a bit of that 'depressed' Jack's deadpan look here that tugs on the heart. Once again you've given a cover more meaning than the original. Isaak's had a haunting quality, but I didn't feel the emotion in it that you've given us. More fitting to the actual lyrics. Beautifully done! But no wonder none of us guessed the song. We had all figured you'd never do it!

Where to start with this one?? First, I had to go watch the original Chris Issak video because as much as I love the original song, I had never seen the video. I completely get why Kathy would be a little concerned about the wardrobe! Second, I had to go look up 'thirst trap'. Apparently, I'm too old for that phrase to be in my vernacular, but I get it now! :-) Lastly and most importantly, this is pretty darn amazing! If you don't want people thinking about Kathy getting in the shower (Hearing Loss video) then you definitely wouldn't want them thinking about her cavorting on the beach dressed like the model in Chris Isaak's video. Kathy could totally pull off that look ... but I think what you did here was a good choice, as the basic background lets us concentrate on the swoon-worthy vocals. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the original, so "an average time listening" would already have been meeting my expectations -- hearing a song I don't like done well by a singer/arranger I do. I had a terrible day and decided that if nothing else, a Geoff song is always good for a pleasant bone marrow massage and a blood pressure drop. Three cheers for autonomic dysreflexia lullabies! Instead, I'm left waiting for full release so I can put this one on a playlist where I keep songs that are the aural equivalent of a weighted blanket. I still don't like the song itself, but I sure do like your version.

I didn´t know the original, had to watch it to be able to compare - and I must say, your cover is MUCH better. I know I won´t watch/listen to the original again, it didn´t impress me - but for sure I WILL watch your version repeatedly. It´s such a nice touch to do it visually so simple, just you and the piano. Empty room. It emphasizes the mood, words and melody, the performance itself. And it stresses (at least for me) that you don´t need to show off in any other way than your musical skills, which are tremendous. Thank you for being you.

When I play this preview screening video clicking the progress bar just to the left of my tiger's right ear will leave 2 seconds left on the countdown timer so I can jump right into the music. I have no idea why it popped up on my Patreon on Thanksgiving morning 2025. So I wish you all Happy Thanksgiving with your family and friends! I am going to my daughter's for a very laid back day with wonderful turkey seitan to go with the vegan meal my wonderful daughter and her husband are creating. I need to be getting ready but I am sitting here replaying Geoff's hauntingly beautiful recreation and thinking of a 10 year love that was in my life, never meant to be permanent but was the best of my life. Yeah, bittersweet. It's a great memory. Thanks, Geoff. Again sorry for your butt, but so glad for your perseverance!
