In the FINAL discussion for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, MinnMax's Ben Hanson is joined by his old friend Ronnie, Ross "The Star Wars Guy" Pfund, and special guest Ana Diaz from Polygon! This is the end of the road, sadly. In this discussion, we cover everything in the game from Chapter 12 through the ending. We talk about the date at the Gold Saucer, Cloud's personality, the final boss, Aerith, and a whole lot more. Odin tip. He dodges attacks by countering with reprisal if your character has been hit by one of his pink aura charged skills like ‘Helmcleaver’ or ‘scintillating spear’-there’s more of these pink skills as the match goes on but these are the first two you will see. you can tell if he’ll dodge and counter attack with reprisal if your character has pink wristbands animation-this means they got hit by one of his pink buffed abilities. The pink wristbands will go away after awhile. So yeah- attack with characters that don’t have pink wristbands and he won’t cast the reprisal counter. Barret with bonus round or Yuffie with shuriken throw is good at preventing him from zantetsuken because increasing his stagger and doing continuous damage will stop him from casting the horn warning and zantetsuken. I actually just finished soloing full might Odin on every playable character today while listening to the last dd pod - thanks for the content 🙏

Use hp mp swap in endgame AP XP farm so you never have to rest between nuking enemies quake+magnify all day and one shot those mobs for AP farm and never have to visit a bench. Similarly useful on hard mode on a glass canon like aerith - if you give her first strike and magnify+quake you can destroy all trash without going into your ‘actual’ mp - then take the materia off before a boss and she’ll still be on full mp. Another hint - the choco bus stops in hard mode restore mp , it’s only the dungeon benches that only restore hp. So you can fill her 5000mp up before going into a dungeon then one shot all trash on the way to the boss

Yes please. I really think this ending is jarring at first but extremely clever, sad, and haunting after letting it marinate.

Ben, thank you so much for this Deepest Dive. I stopped in the middle of Rebirth, because I felt overwhelmed by the amount of hours left. But your passion and love for it during the end of the year discussion really motivated me, and I ended up putting in a lot more time and finishing. But of course afterward I needed to hear more discussion about it. So I jumped on Patreon, subscribed and found the treasure trove of this fantastic Deepest Dive. Love the format. And I look forward to combing through more of this archive.
