First of all, a huge thank you to everybody for supporting MinnMax on Patreon and submitting a town as a contender for the big community meetup in September. We had a blast going through the options, you can watch that by clicking here in case you missed it. We ruled out Los Angeles (since we're having a meetup there on Sunday, June 9th at 7pm PT at Button Mash Arcade), Seattle, and Minneapolis/some other midwest locations since we'll have more meetups there in the future. So we narrowed it all down to seven, now it's time for you to lock down where we'll be going.

Please only vote for a town if you're planning on attending the meetup, we want to get a rough estimate on how many folks are showing up. Vote for where you want to go, you're welcome to vote for more than one town. We've held off on encouraging folks to fly in for community meetups in the past, but we'll be celebrating MinnMax's fifth anniversary with this big meetup so you're welcome to join us on this adventure. Obviously, please don't travel to the meetup if it causes any financial stress whatsoever. While we will be flying in as many cohorts as are interested, we won't be spending the entire weekend as a big communal group. The community meetup itself will just be a nice opportunity to meet some folks in person for several hours at a restaurant/event space and give us a chance to thank you in person for supporting MinnMax. We'll also be producing a travelogue chronicling the adventure as well, so you can watch the video and feel as if you were there if you can't make the trip. We'll lock down the date for the meetup once we have a location.

Feel free to leave a comment with suggestions for activities in any of these seven cities, make your case and try to persuade others for where we should all go. The poll ends on Friday at midnight.

Here is the (randomized) list of potential towns and some details about each.

Lets do this!!!

RynaGoGo

Asheville crew!! You won’t be disappointed!

Zane Dukes

Say I can attend one of the cities but can’t the others, am I allowed to vote for that city?

Quillgrim

Won’t be attending, but I can’t overstate how fun Williamsburg will be for those of you who can go there!!

Deirdre Bouquet

I grew up in the area and Akron being on here is killing me.

DontBashAsh

Come oooooon San Marcos!! Would be a doable drive for me and would be SO COOL to meet some community members. I’m crossing my fingers…

Jake Eckert

Jacob sold Asheville I think. Kennett Square is only a few miles from me and I could drive there in half an hour. That’s the only reason I would want it to be there :) Because it’s not really as cute as it sounds. It’s kind of just Pennsylvania suburbia. As a local we’d much rather do stuff in West Chester PA.

Stackhouse

For Williamsburg - for the Board Game Fest, I'll note that's going to run Sept 20-22, not just the 21st! And we'll be all about hosting MinnMax community panels should Williamsburg be picked (and should this happen that weekend)! Also Williamsburg is very easy to get to by plane, and there are tons of hotel options for those considering travel in casting their vote!

Mason Cowell

I would love Ashville! It's a beautiful town. Also, A+++ ghost tours!

Kyle Silva

It’s such a tough vote because I’m voting under the assumption that it can be on a weekend I can fly or it can line up with possibly other cool things happening nearby.

resnet

I don't live in the states but I'm looking forward to this content

Tanner Hoisington

Charleston could have been on this list, but oh well let's go team Asheville

Stephen Woodson

Here are a few more reasons you should vote for Williamsburg :) - TWO awesome amusement parks: Busch Gardens & Water Country USA - Great escape rooms in the area - 1 hour drive to VA Beach, for beach fun - Is one of the "7 cities" - there are 7 small/mid-size cities all within driving distance for different activities - Vibrant board game community in the area, including meet ups most weekends - Did we mention the decaying president heads?

BechamelTest

The San Marcos area also has - Pinballz Kingdom, which is a crazy arcade - Schlitterbahn and Texas Ski Ranch, water parks - Snake Farm, a funky lil zoo - A good ole fashion dance hall in Gruene (built in the 1800s!) - And I would love to see the cohorts experience a Buc-ee's gas station, the world's largest convenience store -There's also a gigantic sporting goods store nearby called Cabela's, similar to Bass Pro, which could be a great piece of content

Poofydoo

Asheville is so amazing. Best strip of breweries I’ve been to. 🤯

Seabass

Making another pitch for Gloucester. Even though you can’t pronounce it, you get witches, fishermen, and a ton of seafood. If it’s warm, we have some of the nicest beaches in New England. Schooners, whale watches, fallout 4 locations, castles, dog town historical park, cottages, lighthouse, more nautical words. 🐳⚓️

Stef P.

I live in San Antonio but I’m more than happy to head to San Marcos to see y’all

Nate Marshall

I more than likely won't be attending the meetup and I selected that as my official vote, but wanted to put in an honorary vote for Asheville!

Kelsey Sims

My partner & I live in Southern Ontario, so Akron is the only one we could feasible make 🥲 Just over a 6 hour drive, but way cheaper than buying plane tickets!

wittynicknamehere .

Not sure how I got left off of the Submitted By list for San Marcos, but that's where my vote is going!

Cagney McCauley

Hoping for San Marcos as well. I will definitely be there if so!

WW Bill

San Marcos!

Josh Stevens

SO GLAD TO SEE AKRON ON HERE! Even if it doesn’t end up winning I’m just glad y’all are considering Ohio lol

Lanthian

This is exciting! Hoping to be able to make it to this one!

Marc S

Also about 20 minutes from Akron is Medina which has indoor go kart racing and Sweets and Geeks, a multi floor candy and game shop.

Michael Federico

I'm thrilled Gloucester is on the list. I live in Massachusetts and am only a half hour away so I'll definitely be going to the meetup if it wins. :)

Aaron Ault

Ok I was not invested in this at all until I saw Akron is tied for first…OHIO LETS GO!!!

Trey

Remember you can vote for multiple options.

Matty Gaffney

Wow Kennett Square is a welcome surprise having grown up near there. Near some amazing things like Longwood Gardens, the Wyeth museum, and where all the Foxcatcher stuff went down 😵‍💫

VGTO

Closest option for this west coaster is right about 600 miles away. So no go for me. Hoping for a fun travel log.

Andrea

I'm excited about both Gloucester and Kennet Square since they're close enough to me that I can actually attend either.

Alex Owens

Lets go Akron!! Awesome art museum in downtown also!

Michael Berry

Akron for me! Lived there for about a year awhile back and they have an awesome zoo and a fun drive-in burger joint called Swensons. Not sure if Swensons exist outside of Ohio but it if it wins, check it out. Also, about an hour from Akron is one of the best arcades I have been to called Past Times Arcade in Girard, Ohio. If you are commuting to Akron, make a detour and check it out. So many arcade and pinball games that I have never seen anywhere else. Including Sega Gun Fight, an electro mechanical arcade and Computer Space, the 1st arcade cabinet that was commercially available from the 70's. The place is huge and has plenty of weird and rare cabinets and machines. Really cool stuff!

Richie Molina

I’ll go where ever it is, I’m a street photographer and would love the opportunity to take photos of this community (that I adore) and document this very odd event hahahaha.

Mitch Krassin

A totally bizarre thing to see Gloucester, where my inlaws are from/live show up on a poll. That city is incredible and I'm always happy to visit.

Miguel Lopez

San Marcos for me maybe Asheville depending on the date

Ted Ryser

Not a more beautiful time to visit Ketchum Idaho than September!

Vilis

I'd be happy with Asheville or Kennett Square, but I'm voting Williamsburg since it's most feasible for me, and I think it will be better suited to accommodate a large number of people.

Garrett Dunlap

Is there a date set for the meetup yet? Baby on the way and when during the month it falls determines if I should vote.

Cory S

It's great reading all of this Akron love!! If it comes to Akron, not only will I be excited, but the city will think it's so much fun. It will be a packed, lovely, quirky weekend.

Micheal Coons

Anyone want to do a brewery tour in Asheville (if it wins, of course)? I’m a bona fide real professional brewer and Asheville is my favorite beer vacation spot in the US.

CateeFord

I'm all in for San Marcos or Asheville

Gabriel Cleveland

Wherever it ends up, please make it later in September!!! 🤞

WavingWorld

Asheville is only 1hr away from my family so that's the most convenient for me, personally. Honestly anywhere but Texas is fine for me.. I'm moving from TX in August so please don't drag me back, lol

Aaron Parker

Should have done it before now, but this finally got me to join the Patreon so I could cast a vote for Asheville! I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but Asheville has a pretty awesome pinball and arcade spot called Asheville Pinball Museum. Their hours are a little weird, but this would be an awesome spot to check out while in town. https://ashevillepinball.com/

Max Jahner

Seeing this late, but *wild* that Ketchum made the list. Doesn't look like it'll win, but makes me happy to see it did its best, ha. Howdy from Boise!

It's Hugo's Nook

If yall vote for Ohio, I’ll make live art during the meet up 👀
