Is anyone excited about this new Jurassic Park reboot? I like the cast but wasn't sold on the writing in the trailer.

SuperCerberus

If Rockstar released a new Grand Theft Auto game that looked and played exactly like the PS2 games but with a new map, story, etc., how well do you think it would do?

Voivod McGarnagle

Message from the past: how important is it for Sony to announce a new first party game near future? Thanks 💚

Neal McMahon

Hey all, Do we need to see more (working) mirrors in games? I remember the first time I saw a dynamic mirror in Duke Nukem back in the 90s and thought it was so cool. We see it a bit more in games today but not nearly enough in my opinion. Is this still a technical limitation of some kind? What are your favorite mirrors in games?

Andrew Danglis

Kyle, have you righted your wrong and watched The Tale of the Princess Kaguya yet, and how many tears were shed? Kaguya is my personal favorite Ghibli film, not just my favorite non-Miyazaki one. It needs more eyes on it and more respect!

Mike Lynch

What's the biggest game, game concept or hardware of the current console generation you thought would be the biggest flop?

Travis in Fargo

I woke up at 5:00 this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep, so I decided to partake in an online auction for a local business that’s liquidating all of its merchandise. It was thrilling! I can’t wait to see if I win anything, although I feel bad for the business owner. What’s your experience with auctions/estate sales, either online or in person?

RickyWinterborn

Have you ever had a shameful snack? I had a raw-dogging frosting phase. Also my friend's mom said when she was a kid she would hide in a cupboard and eat spoonfuls of crisco with parmasan shake cheese on top. Still makes me gag to think about.

Blobarsmartin

What is the best instance of public transport in games? (In a very broad sense). I’m a huge fan of travelling with the carriages Dragon’s Dogma 2, but my all time favourite are the ski lifts and helikopters in Family Ski & Snowboard. Sitting in one of those and seeing my brother shred some gnar underneath is a pretty great experience

starbittz

as a new patreon sub and relatively new to minnmax in general, what backlog content is the most hype to catch up on?

Luca Alberti

Hello MinnMaxers! Snake Eater famously featured an Ape Escape cameo, with Delta supposedly releasing later this year and rumors of the game coming to Switch 2, which characters would you like to see take the Apes' place in the Xbox and Switch 2 versions?

Clarke Foster

If video games are art, could you ever see them, and the journalistic organizations that talk about them like Minnmax, being considered charitable endeavours like other organizations in the arts are at the moment? Tax receipts for Minnmax subs?!

Catpurrnicus

If you could have one truth about your future revealed to you, but you couldn’t change it, would you want to know? Why or why not?

AlexTheSnood

Hello, MiniMaxxers! Is there a specific studio or franchise you’d like to see try the Eternal Strands route of making a smaller, more scoped-in game?

Chris Fantry

Hey MinnMaximos. I recently got into preserving all of my CDs and will get into doing the same for the DVDs and Blu-rays I have, and I also recently purchased an audio production software with the plans of playing around with it to making my mixes of songs. What are some recent obsessions or hobbies that you picked up?

Torugos2

Hello everyone I love your work and all you guys have been doing, so keep on. My question is have you guys ever been taken by surprise with a music or an album? For example recently I've listened to DTMF album by Bad Bunny. One of the songs talks about how we should have taken more pictures and how we should have hugged more our loved ones, and it hit me so hard and it left me in tears.

pork bun powered

Hi MinnMax, in celebration of Valentine's Day, what's the most romantic game you can think of? Alternatively, which characters have the most chemistry (bonus points if it does not involve the playable character!)?

Joe Carney

Can Yakuza be the next Deepest Dive? I have been on a real losing streak with Deepest Dives. BG3 lost to Armored Core. LAD8 lost to Rebirth. Every time a game I'm into comes out, it launches beside another big game. This is all to say, I look forward to the Avowed Deepest Dive being announced.

resident eva

have you ever had a dream so nice that waking up was a huge bummer?

Aging_Poorly

Missed Joke Opportunity: Last week Hanson mentioned the upcoming movie "Jurassic Park: Rebirth", and nobody lamented that because of "The Greatest Work of All Time in 2025" we'll have two years in a row where Hanson has to defend "Rebirth" against a bunch of nay-sayers. Related question: Movies look pretty promising in 2025, no? Are movies back? Which other ones are you looking forward to?

Rory Sublett

When a game says “Press Any Button to Start” what do you like to go with? I usually pull the Left Trigger to see if that works

CJ

Loved Ben’s interview with Shuhei Yoshida last week! I appreciate how affable Shuhei is, but despite that, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed with him when Ben pushed him on studio closures and lack of executive accountability. It felt like Shuhei simply replied with “yeah it’s hard”. If we presume Shuhei ranks highly on the executive passion spectrum, and even he can’t muster a better response than that, what does that say for our industry as a whole? Sorry if this is less of a question and more an expression of angst. Thanks!

Luketheman5

Hello dear Minnmax, I’m an elementary school teacher and during class eating team, instead of the usual Bluey episodes I’d educate the children on some classic video games. Due to the popularity of Shadow the hedgehog lately, I hopped on YouTube and to my delight, found a 90 minute edit of Sonic Adventure 2. This video was fantastic and not only covered the entire story, it stitched in gameplay to give the scenes more context. This has been the student’s favourite thing to watch and they are now spending their lunch time pretending to be Rogue the bat. Is there a video game out there with a “no commentary let’s play” you think would be fantastic to watch like this? The students yearn for more.

Tess

What place in the world is the farthest distance from a wii fit balance board?

Jacob Mazanowski

It seems like video games are shown off in two seasons. Which season of announcements do you enjoy and anticipate more? Winter or Summer?

Michael Archer

Have you ever tried a genre of game that ended up making you way better at every other game you've played? In the past 6 or so months, I've started taking SimRacing more seriously by entering ranked online competition and now when I play twitchier games I've found that I'm able to translate a lot of the lessons (patience, pushing myself, timing, accuracy) from iRacing to other games; most notably character action games.

SlyCut

Hello all, Valentine's Day... Am I right?

Cashewual

Dear Minnmaxers: Which of these two genres do you feel are in the more dire state at the moment: Rhythm games or city bilder games?

James Z Hale

What do you guys think about a video game "book" club? Have you ever heard of something like that before?

David Dubs

Hey Gang, when was the last time you were genuinely surprised? I’m talking about surprise birthdays level of being surprised - absolutely no expectation of seeing it coming. It's felt like the older I get, the less I ever get to be surprised by something!

Graham Jones

Hello Ben, I was listening to your interview with Shuhei Yoshida this week and really appreciated the breadth of knowledge you have on gaming history even if it was before your time in the gaming industry. That had me wondering, what is your history with learning game history? Did you learn a lot as a kid or did you pick most of it up once you started working in games media? Was there a particular studio, peice of software or game that started this passion for gaming history (apart from psychodyssey)?

WeGoGiant

Hey MinnMax, If you were being interrogated, what song could they play on repeat that would break you the fastest?

RiskyChrisP

What are the greatest song lyrics of all time, and why is it “Bing-bap-boom-boom-boom-bap-bam, the type of sh*t I’m on you wouldn’t understand”?

Michael Fahy

Say a friend or partner made a character in an RPG and then told you that they designed the character to look like you. What would you say to them if you think the character looks hideous or otherwise nothing like you? If it’s truly egregious (but still earnest from their perspective), would you pick an argument or brush it off and laugh?

Elias Armendariz

How many games do you guys play (not necessarily finished) a year? I just finished the Most Anticipated Games episode and you all still pull out the most random games that you played but never mentioned before. As a part time gamer, there are times I wish I could play more!

Dill Pickles

Howdy Minnmax! I have a little challenge for you all! Can you each name a game that exactly one (no more, no less) of your cohorts has ever heard of? Keep up the good work y’all!

Juniper Cain

Hiya gang! I'm interested in Avowed because I really love the world of Eora, and I realised recently that while I hope the story is good, I mostly just want another chance to be in that universe. How often does this happen for you? How much do you care about the in-universe 'lore' of your favourite games? Or could you just kinda transplant the main narrative into another world and you wouldn't really mind?

CaffeineDad

Hey gang! Sorry for being such a fake MinnMax fan, but I had never seen a rapid fire interview until the Avowed one! It was so fun and charming! I mean this in the best way, but the format really reminds me of Vogue’s questions videos where they walk and talk with the person they’re interviewing. Did this format take inspiration from theirs? And are there any interview formats you wish you had come up with, are envious of, or just otherwise want to try out? Asking because I loved the Hot Ones interviews y’all did!

Scott Castro

Yesterday, when driving up to the air pump to inflate my tires, I pulled in just as someone was pulling away and I filled my tires with their leftover time on the pump without paying. It was A RUSH! It felt like I got away with a crime. What’s your favorite little crime to do? Sometimes I’ll ring up my organic apples as non-organic apples at self-checkout. COME AND GET ME COPPERS!

LlorchDurden

Civilization VII is releasing on Switch along all other platforms!

Sam Worms

If MinnMax were to get a vanity license plate, but some jerk had already taken "MINNMAX", what alternative would you get? (In MN, you get a total of 7 letters.)

Derek Achoy

What would MinnMax do if Elon became a $1 million per month Patreon subscriber??

AnAttackCorgi

Hello MinnMax! What’s a funny insult or a weird compliment you got from the comments section/a colleague? Keep on keeping on.

tuxpeng

It's different for a lot of folks, but in anime communities some people like to go by a "3 episode rule" to figure out if they're into a show or not and want to keep going. Do y'all have an equivalent for games, or is it mostly a play it by ear situation?

Lucas England

Hello cohorts! What is your least favorite level/mission/boss/part of a game that you would consider one of your favorites?

Adam Castellanos

When was the last time you listened to music you haven’t heard before? And how do you seek out new music?

claudio

Whats the most grossed out a video game has ever made you? I really want to play Avowed but the fungus growing out of creatures skins makes me want to die its so gross. Not sure why the last of us didnt gross me out as much!

Ray Sweat

Piggybacking off your indie game sequel discussion last week, what's the most impressive second entry in a video game franchise? And how would you just find impressive for this question?

RynaGoGo

Howdy Cohorts. I love cheese. I’m a huge fan of goat cheese and it got me thinking why aren’t there more mammal cheeses. Is there a mammal that you wouldn’t try their cheese? Cat cheese? Dog cheese? Human cheese? Human cheese pizza!? Come on!

Swansonge

Some sluethers have seem to discovered a character redesign (or re-redesign) of Donkey Kong in the new Mario Kart. What’s do you think is the most interesting video hame character redesign? Idk if it counts because it’s just box art, but mine would be giving Kirby angry eyebrows for the American releases

Noodle

What is the one gaming surprise (announcement, shadowdrop, leak, etc) that got you the most excited? For me, the Tetris 99 shadowdrop blew my mind and I've never been in such a rush to launch a game. Battle royale Tetris... genius.

Dan from Canada

Can you think of any game that you wish could have launched in early access ? I’m thinking about older games that had a rocky launch that lost whatever potential momentum it could have had if early access existed back in the day

Nathan

Are there any spin-off games you really love, despite having no affinity or experience with the original property? I played dozens of hours of Theatrhythm on the 3DS back in the day for example and have recently been enjoying the newest entry Final Bar Line. My Final Fantasy knowledge? I wish I could say I ever made it past the tutorial for one, but alas, songs like Zanarkand only conjure the image of notes flying at me at top speed on ultimate difficulty.

Jordan Watson

If any of the crew were to get involved in game development - which areas would interest you the most (programming, art, sound, producing, etc.)?

A.J. Minotti

So this weekend we have two multiplayer betas going on. Monster Hunter Wilds supports cross play. Elden Ring Nightreign does not. Where do you all fall on cross play as an essential feature these days?

Boondock-Bandit

Bonjour. The official MinnMax show seems perfectly timed - the team can usually catch a gameplay/dev reveal (Sony state of play, Nintendo stream, etc.), then talk about it on the next show, or you can move the recording around a day or a couple hours to get reactions quickly. Was there thought to which day to record the MinnMax show, or did y’all just get lucky with timing!?

Cath

Hi! Can we know what was Kelsey’s dream now? I’m dying to know

BeefNewton

ive been obsessed with park builders but it feels like they've been dominated by a few series like the tycoon franchises but theres been a few newer games that have blown up like planet zoo. my question is What genre or subgenre of games would you like to see more competition in?

Kelsey Sims

We all love a good co-op, but what are some of your favourite single-player games to play with someone else? For me, it's the Resident Evil series. I rarely have the nerves to play horror games, so I watch my partner play them instead. When RE2 Remake released, he played through the whole thing while I had a guide open on the side to help where needed. This spawned Oracle as both a nickname and verb, asking if we'd Oracle a game for one another so we didn't spoil things for ourselves by reading too far ahead. I'm also watching his current playthrough of MK1, which means I get to watch this bonkers movie via cutscenes without struggling through a fighting game.

Bryan Tylec

One of the most common jokes I've noticed in the chat for every streamer I've ever watched is "Is this a Strand game?" whenever anything even tangentially similar to Death Stranding happens. But, the more that time goes on, the thing that spawns that joke becomes closer and closer to what Kojima was actually describing when he introduced that concept. So my question for you is, was Kojima right? Did he get the last laugh? Did Kojima win???

JorSneezy

Is there a game genre or series that you decided you've aged out of? For instance, I no longer do scrolling shooters because I'm terrible at them now.

Qax

Did you know some people don't find video game characters attractive? What gives? Hanson, Tifa exists, explain yourself!

Josh Robinson

What is your earliest memory of using the internet to look up the solution to something you were stuck on in a game? Mine is of using Psypokes' Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen walkthrough to get through Mt. Moon. As a kid I always got so lost in there and I'm not sure I would have been able to find my way through without that pristine 2004-quality JPEG of the floor layout in front of me.

Mrjaco12

What's the furthest that you've stretched the definition of "podcast game"? Last year I played Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal and while the atmosphere created by the music and sound design was superb, I was falling behind on my Podcasts. I had no choice.

Matthew Davidson

Hello Minn and also Max, I have but a simple question. What's your favorite episode of The Simpsons?

OhMyBlob

It’s Valentines Day! A lot of my favourite movies are romances - from Lost in Translation to Before Sunrise - but it’s something gaming still hasn’t got right in my view. Why are all gaming romance scenes a bit cringe? Or am I horribly mistaken?

Nathan Ryer

Has anyone ever “accused” you of owning too many handheld systems? Do they multiply when left alone in a dark drawer?

humblebees

Inspired by last week's discussion on "sometimes games are bad to make good things feel good", what's your favorite version of "thing is bad (or just okay/fine) and then upgrade to thing is good"? For example, I love getting some sort of ship/mount to travel faster in the world in a JRPG and then eventually the flying airship version of it. Xenoblade Chronicles X is my favorite specific example where you get a mech that can drive around and eventually it turns into a flying mech.

Cory S

Does consuming food in a video game ever make you so hungry you have to pause playing and get whatever your character was eating? (Every time I played Bioshock, I had to make coffee).

Fancygraham

Do you have any plans for your hairstyle besides potentially getting your head shaved during a charity stream? Facial hair included, if applicable.

JeffM's Backlog

I've had it up to my gills with this fake early access release date garbage and it's not getting enough attention as a sinister video game industry tactic. Remember when Xbox used to tell us 700 times per showcase that a game was Day 1 on GamePass? They've been a lot quieter about that recently because now it's actually Day 5 on GamePass and you have to pay $25 extra to get it on it's actual release date. On top of that, this 5 day FOMO period often falls during a Holiday weekend. Maybe Haley has an idea about this, but is there any kind of legal issues Microsoft could have from them telling consumers this game was coming Day 1 to GamePass, while they've quietly changed the meaning of Day 1?

Victor Pham

What games did you accidentally make harder for yourself by neglecting a tutorial or mechanic?

Nawt Poncho

I recently got into Tekken 8 as a lifelong fighting game avoider. Now I'm over 60 hours deep and I can't stop thinking about the game, whether it's messing around in practice mode, hopping on ranked, or making funky costumes for my dumb big cyborg guy, Jack-8. Having late night tekken matches with my friends is some of the most fun I've had in a multiplayer game in recent memory. Why are we all so scared of fighting games? Tekken 8's not so bad!

Vilis

I know everyone generally agreed Metaphor was great last year, but how many of the cohorts actually finished it?? Just curious since I'm not sure what the final breakdown was, and I feel like that might be an interesting aspect of the "Do people need to finish games to know they're good, and how much does that matter?" conversation: do people just play games they've heard are good to check if they're good? If they don't finish a good game, is that a failure of the game's prestige? There's a bounce off factor, for sure, but that niche of someone who plays 20 hours (or 2 hours on a shorter game), thinks "This is great!" then sets it aside because they have confirmed the consensus that it's great and have something else to play without the intention of returning to it. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

Luciano Comassetto

Where was the first place you saw one of the other cohorts (that you didn't work with)? I remember seeing Huber for the first time on a reaction video from Gametrailers to the ff7 remake reveal and it's one of the best moments on YouTube. I recommend watching it.

Jacob Miller

On the bonus pod Leo and Haley discussed idle games I was wondering if any of the other cohorts ever had a game that became a “while doing other things” game

Tokyo Game Life

How has there not been a sidequest in Pokemon where someone tries to open up a theme park filled with fossil Pokemon, but it goes horribly wrong like Jurassic Park? Wouldn’t that be awesome?

John Praw

Hello! During one of the reactions to South of Midnight, Hanson commented on the name of the enemies, claiming it was unforgettable. Pop quiz: do you remember what they call the creatures in South of Midnight? :D

Chandler

If you were to name every person you know, would more of the names come from work or from the rest of your life?

Travis in Fargo

Everyone loves a chocolate bunny. Should there be more animal-shaped foods?

Travis in Fargo

If you taught a class on the topic of video games, what would you choose to teach?

Travis in Fargo

Hypothetically, if your mom mailed you a box of gluten free cookies because you have celiac, but while it sat on the front porch a squirrel ripped open a corner of the box and stole one cookie but left everything else untouched, and you threw away any adjacent cookies just to be safe, and the cookies are also for your children, what would you do with the remaining cookies?

Dusty Beaman

What is the most untrusted profession? used car saleman, plumber, weather/news man/woman? Conversely, what is the most trusted profession?

Fatt Mish

Hi CLCs. What seems like a reasonable number for amount of NS2 games available at launch? I feel like there could be a solid amount of third party support if the Switch 2 is similar architecture to the Switch. I'd imagine well over 50 launch games maybe (not including the obvious backwards compatible titles)? What's are your best guesses?

Michael Berry

Last week's question of the week, that discussed topics that were hard to find any info on the internet, got me thinking about the 3DO and it's library. The 3DO is loaded with truly weird, fever dream-like games. Seriously, look up Dragon Edge Tycoon. What can we do as a society to unearth more information about the 3DO's games? They are really bizarre and I would love to hear from old developers about these games. P.S. The 3DO 'Replay' episodes from Game Informer were some of my favorites episodes from that series.

Duderado

Howdy crew, This might be more of a bonus pod question but does Ben require or ask the cohorts to take online training any kind? My job deals with cyber security training and I was curious what kind of training resources are used in games media.

Toke F.

What is your favourite dish and how often do you enjoy it? (Also you did a cannon great job on the recent interviews (I'm a big fan of the rapid fire ones you've done recently.))

Ant

hey there silly billies! i pre-ordered avowed and am honestly worried about it so i hope i like what I'm hearing while i listen to the episode!! Speaking of avowed, why don't more game companies make "skyrim-likes"? I've been fiending for them since 2011 and no one is delivering! gimme!

Sincerly, Eric

What is the first gaming memory you all have? Whether single player. Playing with siblings. Or over at a friend's house. For me it's watching my Dad and his friend play Nintendo Golf on a snow day. Curious if anything is ingrained in your memories or just fleeting fragments.

landsealion

A bit late, but did everyone in the industry know that the Switch 2 trailer would show up on January 16 and faked being surprised? It seems like everyone was expecting it that morning.

landsealion

Speaking of embargos, how hard is it to keep the information to yourself? Do you talk about it with other people from the industry? How do you know if someone else is under the same embargo?

A.853

I just beat Chrono Trigger a few days ago and I think it may be one of my favorite games of all time. I’ve been playing RPGs for over 25 years and somehow never ended up playing it. I’m so glad I finally played it. Have you ever went back to a classic game that you somehow missed and walked away absolutely in love with it? Ps: listening to the deepest dive on Chrono Trigger right now and loving it!

demo_sphere

G'day Minnmaxers What's currently on everyones remake radar? With a remake of Croc Legend of the Gobbos coming out soon, I've been reflecting on the games still deserve remakes. Personally, I'm waiting for Parasite Eve to get a remake, feels like a no brainer move for Square. (Excited to hear Ben say Gobbos)

Joe Shmoe

Backlogs, we all have them and we feel slightly ashamed by them. What are some of your games you wish you could finally getting around to and how long does a game have to be on your backlog before you finally say "I'm never getting around to it."?

Ari

Hey Minnmax, This year we are so excited and curious what games will be revealed. What's makes for an effective video game trailer? Is it eye catching visuals, new and innovative gameplay, or maybe ... a catchy song?

Travis in Fargo

If someone strongly recommends something, like a movie or video game, do you find you are you more or less likely to enjoy it? And on the flip side, do you ever dampen your enthusiasm about a recommendation as not to hype it up too much?

Geebeesee

Eternal Strands has been described as an indie Dragon’s Dogma. While this isn’t a perfect description, what’s a AAA game that you’d like to see an indie team emulate?

Paul McHugh

Hey crew! I'm currently going through a bit of a gaming slump, which happens from time to time. It's hard to be motivated to play any game, so I'm defaulting to an easy to play game for myself. That happens to be Hearthstone and Pokemon Pocket because card games are my own comfort food. Do you guys have any games you tend to gravitate towards if you ever get into a gaming slump?

BEEFCAKE

What do you think The Rock was cookin? Like eggs or somethin?

Zae

Hey Minnmax, what are your favorite or least favorite tropes in media? I’m kinda iffy on an unreliable narrator in books, especially in first person because of withholding information.

Blake Barber

Finally rolled credits in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Man, that music is just so good I actually watched the credits. The opening music in FF7 Remake brought me to tears. Music is so bad in most games but it seems like such a relatively inexpensive way to heighten the experience. What’s your favorite game score? I feel like movie adaptations don’t count so mine would be FF7 or God of War Reboot.

b_wood

Kendrick Lamar's halftime performance of that football game was video game-themed with stages shaped like the PlayStation controller buttons and was meant to depict Kendrick's life as a video game. Has an event outside of video game culture ever resonated with you, or do you always find yourself saying "They not like us"?

b_wood

After Kendrick Lamar's halftime performance, many have enjoyed spending a lot of time finding the hidden meaning in his performance. Do you have a performance, game, movie, etc that you like to spend a lot of time finding the deeper meaning or hidden lore or do you feel like "Ignorance is Bliss"?

2026-09-14 16:00 A while back Kyle said that he cracks his eggs by dropping them from a height. I now exclusively crack my eggs this way. Is there anything you did one way, but now do another after finding a much better method?

Hey gang, Long time first time and all that. I've been loving Citizen Sleeper 2 this week and I can't shake the feeling it's a spiritual successor to FTL: Faster Than Light. Something about the tone, the art, and the gameplay all really strike that same chord. Are there any older games with a unique atmosphere that you'd like to see more modern developers take inspiration from? Cheers!

moongarbage

What kind of campy over-the-top villain would everyone on the pod be, and from what genre?

Onlinesquid

Have you all seen sonic 3? Curious if you have any thoughts. Just wild to think that a sonic movie has Jim Carey, Idris elba and Keanu Reeves

Adam Cohen

Hello MinnMax crew. I recently finished Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. There's a mechanic in this game that I'm honestly not sure how I feel about. Every time you open a door you press X to put your hand on the door and then you have to move the left analog stick to actually open it. It's the same for chests and some other objects. Do you like this? Does it feel more immersive? Is it just adding an unnecessary step?

Jonah Nicholson

Hey Cohorts! What’s your favorite 7 out of 10 game you’ve played? I found myself playing games that really encapsulate the 7 out of 10 vibe and loving them lately. Not every game has to be a masterpiece for you to have fun it turns out!

LlorchDurden

I was reading some rumors about Nintendo announcing the price for Switch 2 on 4/2nd. I say 399$ + MK9 Digital edition preloaded, what you say? 👀

Kevin Kuper

Hello all, My wife and I are rewatching Dexter and there is a scene where someone is trying to show Dexter a video game and he shows a menu of a serial killer game is like "Don't what do you think?" I was so bothered that he didn't even show any gameplay! Whats a video game inaccuracy in other media that bothers you?

Jason Wojnar

How long before backward compatibility stops? Will the PS6 play PS4 games? Will PS7?

Josh Loebs

What's your oldest online account that you still regularly use? I just realized that I've been using the same account on GameFAQs for 20 years now. And just now while typing this, I realized my Steam account is 21 years old.

HaulingGas

Hey folks, I'm very excited to see Jacob Geller's talk in Oslo!! If you have any questions for him, I can ask them for you! Jokes aside, has Ben ever visited (or considered visting) his ancestral origin in Norway?

Rick

Hi all, What is something you randomly came across or started that quickly become a new found passion/hobby? I recently started a pottery/wheel throwing class after a somewhat random gift for xmas and enjoyed it so much I'm hoping it becomes a (semi)regular hobby! I'll also never to shill up for another pencil pot again, down with big stationery! P.s. how good was that new motorstorm trailer in SoP!?! Anyone!?!

Pablo Castillo

Now two months into 2025, and an unprecedented run at the Grammys and being highlighted at this year's Super Bowl halftime performance, the question on everyone's lips: has Hanson finally listened to Minnmax's 2024 maximum greatest work of art of all time, Not Like Us?

Thorn23

Hi MinnMax Crew, (& “friendly” Hi to Haley! =) ) Random question for the group. As an outsider, I’ve noticed how different people from various places (countries, or even states, or towns inside the US) can have their own vocabulary for common things. They often take these words for granted until they hear them being called differently. This can give you a broader perspective, anthropologically speaking. For example, I’ve heard things being called biro, a hoover, gas (with us it’s usually petrol) and trash/garbage (for us it’s always been “rubbish”). But recently, I’ve been listening to the Easy Allies podcast, and they Always spell out the acronym “N-E-S” for the OG 8-bit. I’ve always said “Nes” or “Snes” out loud. I wonder what situations you’ve experienced where you heard someone say something different from what you’re used to. I have a neighbor that is mentally unstable. He drives his car and mows his yard bare foot. He passed my wife in our neighborhood going like 50 so he could get home one second earlier, and flipped her off on his way by. Then when they both got home got out of his car and screamed at her “get in your house you dumb b****.” My wife called the cops on that one and they told her to just report anything else because they have a whole file on him. Anyone else ever deal with a bad neighbor? Any good stories? P.S. my wife and I love the Super Mario Movie 😏

I'm not asking for what your favorite game is, but what is your most THOUGHT-ABOUT game of all time? For instance, for me, I wouldn't call SIFU my favorite game of all time, but I spend an absurd amount of time thinking about that game -- how I wish other games had its fight style, how boss phases changed the entire setting instead of the appearance of the boss, how levels had different paths to explore, and probably most notably how I played that game on a Steam Deck while my newborn napped in between feeds. What game do you spend an absurd amount of time thinking about?

Howdy MinnMax crew! I wanted to ask about y'all's thoughts on the 2D animated cutscenes in Eternal Strands. I personally loved them a lot, even if they weren't the highest quality imaginable. It was just so nice to see a studio doing something like this. Would you prefer to see more 2D animated cutscenes in video games like this in the future, even in higher budget AAA games?

Hi gang. Has anyone used Steam's (relatively) new game recording feature? I think it's the best one out there!

With the recent positive word of mouth and promotion due to your interviews, how much more traction do you actually see from being mentioned in articles and other publications? Have you seen any substantial growth/surge in views, likes, subs etc...

Just finished watching your State of Play reaction stream, and I gotta ask--are we all reeeeally on the same page about the definition of "souls-like?" When the Tides of Annihilation (ToA) trailer played, I thought "wow, this looks freakin awesome. I'm so glad we're seeing more unique action games that aren't just souls-likes," but then JeffM said "This is all because of From Software, isn't it... we're all doomed to play From Software-like games for the rest of our lives." So is ToA actually souls-like, or is it something else? And can you all please give me a final, authoritative, flawless, unimpeachable definition of "souls-like?" For my sake, and for the sake of all action games fwiw, ToA felt more akin to classic "character action" games in the vein of original God of War, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Nier: Automata

Not a question but a justification for LocalThunk's favorite part of making Balatro: In an interview he said his favorite part of development was creating shaders. I thought it was an odd choice, but after working 20 hours just on one shader in Unreal, I totally get it. You can make some insane effects with (relatively) little effort. Context for me: at work I'm creating virtual environment for mixed reality video production. Unreal Engine is so versatile I recommend giving it a try and learning some tutorials! Thanks all, love the pod. More talk about niche things like Picross! Toodles, Ian Miller

If the MinnMax crew were elected to create/develop a brand new game with funding that had no ceiling.. what would that game look like? Treat this like you guys had all the control and time you needed to make it happen!
