Hey everybody! We're happy to reveal that for the month of July we'll be joined by Kyle Bosman as a Guest Cohort! The same way we had Alanah Pearce join us in January, Kyle Bosman will be appearing on The MinnMax Show and New Show Plus throughout the full month - all thanks to your support. You might know Kyle from his time at Easy Allies, or his excellent YouTube channel Delayed Input, or his work with Geoff Keighley on The Game Awards/Summer Game Fest/Gamescom Opening Night Live!

Also, don't miss our fun Rematch sessions against Giant Bomb here - https://youtu.be/VWyG7IklMZw

ALSO, just a heads up that if you upgrade your Patreon tier to any level before July 7th we'll DM you on Patreon here with a Steam code for Despelote. It's truly one of my favorite games from 2025, it's a short game about childhood and the impact of soccer in Ecuador... but it truly rules and is wildly unique. We'll post on social media if we run out of Steam codes.

This week for community questions on the podcast, we'll have Ben Hanson, Janet Garcia, Kelsey Lewin, Jacob Geller, and Kyle Bosman! It's your turn to make the show better by leaving a question, news story, BetterQuest goal, or anything else for us to read on the show as a comment below! We’ll choose our favorite and iam8bit will ship out the great prize below for the winner! We'll stop pulling questions around 8am Central on Wednesday.

On this week’s episode we’ll be talking about...

The 2025 game release calendar shoot-out

The Hundred Line - Last Defense Academy

Everybody at the Backstage Pass tier can watch us record the show live on Wednesday at 4pm Central, with an exclusive pre and post show. The unedited archive will be available to view after the fact. You could do us a favor by subscribing to the audio version of the podcast on iTunes or your favorite podcast app, telling a friend, leaving a review, and subscribing to our YouTube channel!

I was watching an episode of the Rewatchables from last week from the ringer podcast network, where Bill Simmons talks about their 400th episode and I just realized that the MinnMax show’s 300th episode lines of near perfectly with the Rewatchables 400th episode. When are we gonna get a collaboration with Bill Simmons? PS how does it feel to be technically connected to the Rewatchables with the folks from Blank Check being guests on the Ringer’s brother show, The Big Picture?

Jacob Mazanowski

What state that you have never been to, would you move to if you had to move there today? Ps, this does not include driving through the state on a road trip.

Peter Gallagher

What is the coolest animal that you have seen in the wild? I have seen a porcupine while skiing and a beaver while in Philadelphia… i don’t know which is cooler!!!

Stevelution

With Nintendo confirming the Odyssey team as the folks behind the new Donkey Kong do you think we might be looking forward to a possible GOTY contender with this?

Blobarsmartin

”Lesbian R2D2” I recently met someone who in casual conversation dropped: ”I heard they made R2D2 lesbian”. My question is; when was the last time you said something and realised mid sentence how obviously not true whatever you were saying was?

Xavier Porraz

What's your worst habit and best habit?

That's Mildly Raven

Have you ever been wronged? I don't mean has anyone ever been really mean or rude to you. I mean has anyone ever wronged you, to the point where using that word would feel accurate.

Sam Worms

You don’t hear a lot about the Bermuda Triangle anymore. Why do you think that is?

Ben H

What gives you the right?

Jump On Everything

What's a joke that has inexplicably stuck with you since the first time you heard it? (Bonus points if it isn't particularly funny) The Werewolf bar mitzvah song from 30 rock randomly pops into my head at least once a month.

Fancygraham

Is there a numbered sequel that you can think of that deserved a subtitle? For example, after Halo: Combat Evolved, should Halo 2 instead be called something like Halo: Combat Enhanced?

Mike Lynch

-"ARCADE GOD" Years ago at my local arcade, we had a Senior high school kid (tall, black trenchcoat, and boots, natch) who dominated most every cabinet and left GOD on the leaderboards. He would literally have small crowds watching him play. Did any of you have a local "Arcade God"? Were *you* the Arcade God? (*If no, it can also include friends or family who dominated console games*)

Badmonsterman

Howdy gang! What is y’all’s top 3 international food rankings? For me it’s Caribbean, Chinese, and American southern.

Matthew Hornyak

Hey cohorts! I’ve been playing a lot of Dreamcast recently, and man, that Dreamcast controller is really weird. For a few generations it felt like every controller was downright experimental, the n64 controller, the duke, even the GameCube controller has one bumper. What do you think was the last weird/uncomfortable mainline controller for a console?

JTDenton

What's a franchise that you've stuck with faithfully even as its quality has arguably gone downhill? Also, is Ben planning to see Jurassic World: Rebirth?

Connor Hale

Here's some rapid fire video game would you rather questions to welcome Kyle on and get to know him a little better. Mr. Kyle Bossman, would you rather: o grind levels in a jrpg OR search for collectibles in an open world? o beat a difficult roguelike run OR beat a difficult fromsoft boss? o lose a hundred hour save file OR lose a hundred dollars?

Elias Armendariz

Are you familiar with the Stop Killing Games movement? How do you feel about all the Internet drama around it?

gybones

Most people think it’s in poor taste to talk good about themselves or shy away from it, so here is a loophole: What’s the last compliment you got from someone that made you feel good?

Chandler

Do you think anyone actually called Mario "Jumpman"? Like would the average person in an arcade even care what his name is?

Tess

Hello MinMax!! Who are your favorite video game writers/narrative designers? Obviously the games narrative can come from a lot of places and be very collaborative, but I feel like I don't see much talk about the writers themselves. I usually say my favorite is Kotaro Uchikoshi who wrote on games like 999 and The Hundred Line - Last Defense Academy-, because of his emotional science-fantasy writing and fun plot twists. One writer I would love to say is my favorite is Hana Kikuchi, who was apparently an animator on Princess Mononoke before going on to write on NieR: Automata, but its hard to find any info about her. So, who are the video game writers you would love to give some shout outs too.

HaulingGas

Hey MinnMax and MinnMax's stepdad, I have a question for this episode's esteemed guest. How does it feel to have been born to be a Boss? And do you think Kojima-san would want to cast you as his new quirky character in his next big game? I can picture it already: Bossman - Kyle Bosman (performed by Ben Starr)

Jonah Abraham

Hello MinnMax! What’s your gaming “quest”? I’m on a quest to beat every mainline Final Fantasy game. (I only need to beat FF5 and then I’m done!)

thejjuan1

Hi Minnmax crew and dark prince of dark media. Have you all seen this Tiny Chef story going viral? If you don’t know, it's a Nickelodeon show that got cancelled. Where on the official YouTube channel. Post a vid of the main character getting the call of his show getting cancelled. He started breaking down on the line and then went to bed and cried. It was the most depressing video I ever saw. But some good news, people are going out to support Tiny Chef. Even getting a one time donation of 80,000.

Travis in Fargo

What do you think you’ll be for Halloween? I’ll be a gorilla (as always).

Travis in Fargo

What teacher made the most positive impact on your life? (And then once people answer, Ben says: “Well, [cohort’s name], we knew your answer was [cohort’s teacher’s name], so we have a big surprise for you today! (Pretending they have the teacher on the line). And then says “you’ve been Punk’d!” - or maybe you could actually put in the work to get that teacher on the line for a heartfelt conversation. Either way is good! 🙏

Eric Trapp

Best video game hair? My vote is for TOTK Link. The long flow (not tied back) reveal in the trailers got a bigger reaction from me than literally anything else about the game.

Daniel Doran

So I traded in Pokémon Conquest for the DS to a local game store and I feel like an idiot…it goes for about $100 and I honestly have no idea what they paid me for it because I traded a bunch of other stuff in with it. The guy behind the counter was even like, “I’ve been waiting 2 years for someone to bring this in—I’m totally gonna buy this.” I probably could’ve sold it directly to that guy for more money than the store gave me. I’m still beating myself up about it…what’s y’all’s experience with trading stuff in?

Machine Gun Keeley

Hey cohorts, after last weeks discussion on MGS5 and specifically the character of Quiet, i feel like i've got to play "perverts advocate". I'll be honest, i like horniess in my games! Having a titillating visual such as Quiet or Eve from Stellar blade serves to appeal to other areas of pleasure and -- as long as it doesn't take away from the story or game play, i'm all for it! So, i've gotta ask, is it only the misogyny / objectification in games that you object to (Re: Quiet)? On past MinnMax episodes there seems to be a general negative attitude toward "perverts" despite the fact that vast majority of American adults view pornography in some form on regular occasions. All that said, what is the best way to handle "eye candy" and adult content in games? Lastly, this question is equally pointed at the females in the cohort! I am all for equality...a naked Raiden for every Quiet, as the saying goes.

Harrison Holt

Hey folks, Do you think Xbox has trained Xbox Players not to buy new games?

supakoopatroopa

Heyo, Is it me or are movie trailers more deceitful? The Mean Girls remake is an example, the trailer doesn’t mention that it’s a musical. Have you ever bought a video game or watched a movie based on its trailer and it wasn’t what you thought it was?

Sam Nelson

What's your favourite game in a genre that you otherwise have no love for?

Rick

Hey Minnmax! What is your most insane management system? In an effort to keep up with my subscriptions page on YouTube, I use random.org daily to pick which Watch Later 1-5 playlist I assign the new videos to while adding videos under 10 min to a queue to watch immediately. Feel free to roast or validate me

L Stockler

Hey Minnmaxers, Nowadays, who are your favorite video game "authors" and what do you feel is their signature characteristic in their respective games? (Like, Kojima and his convoluted storytelling or Miyazaki and his hard but fair gamedesign, etc)

Landon Tyler Cook

Hey everyone, I really just want to know what Kyle's favorite shirt is?

Victor Pham

Should fighting games have smaller micro-goals (think dailies in Fortnite) to help retain players? Like achieve 5 hadokens or 10 throws and you get XP to earn cosmetics and stuff?

aFamiliarSpirit

What do you think the chances are that Donkey Kong Bananza doesn't have a section that recreates the original arcade game but retcons it so that Donkey Kong is actually trying to help Pauline and it's all just one big misunderstanding?

Juniper Cain

Hi everyone! Congratulations on 301 episodes, that's even more impressive than creating 300 of them! What else have you celebrated in your life that other people don't usually consider worthy of particular note?

BobaFets

Is it just me or does this generation seem incomplete? I know the pandemic altered everyone's perception of time but I can't see the justification for a PS6 or next Xbox even in 2027? What technological leaps can we even really expect and how will anyone be able to afford them?

Travis in Fargo

I think more pop songs should be like 1 minute long.

Chris Pelley

Your perfect summer day trip/activity? Assume you can easily get the day off, as can family and friends.

Swansonge

With the recent news-reported by Brian Shea of Game Informer- that the Mario Odyssey team is officially developing DK Bananza, it got me thinking about Nintendo is seemingly the only publisher intent on hiding who develops their games, even if it’s a studio as acclaimed as their Tokyo Team. Why do you think they do this? Is there any potential benefit to obscuring the developers until people see credits on the game, or should we know who the developer is from the first announcement?

john pinkerton

Which holiday would be better if we moved it to the summer?

RickyWinterborn

How does Kyle decide when to put the car horn in his vids? Also for this whole month every cohort has to say "This issss" how Kyle says it if a "This Is" happens organically.

Austyn

I just beat the first Death Stranding, a game I’ve owned since launch and had to restart several times before it finally stuck. Now it’s my favorite game. What games didn’t hit right at first but later you came around to?

lilcczar

On your 18th birthday, the government made you choose one dish to eat for the rest of your life. What did you choose?

Josh LaBaw

What happened to the Pikachu Skateboard from the first studio? Was that an auction item?

Tom Rickard

Hey Minnmax! What is the definitive black hole game that felt like it was going to be a huge goty contender?By black hole I mean it’s almost completely forgotten, had no impact, and/or dropped off player count quickly. My vote for most recent contender is Monster Hunter Wilds.

WeGoGiant

Hello MinnMax, and welcome to Kyle Bosman. I look forward to the "shoot your six" episode half way through the year, and last year I submitted a lightning round with 10 anticipated movies. Time for Round 2: Electric Boogaloo. 10 films in order by their release date, everyone gets 2 shots (PS, this won the question of the week last year so in fairness please don't consider this for the qotw this time around 😄): July 11 - Superman July 25 - The Fantastic Four: First Steps August 22 - Eden August 29 - The Toxic Avenger October 10 - TRON: Ares November 21 - Wicked: For Good November 26 - Zootopia 2 November (no specific date yet) - Frankenstein December 12 - Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery December 19 - Avatar: Fire and Ash

Trapezoid

Why is linearity in games seemingly so frowned upon these days. This really came to bear after Tears of the Kingdom and Final Fantasy 16 came out in 2023 and people seemed to hate FF16 for being so linear (among other fair criticism). I love being able to go off the beaten path and discover things in games, but why is it seen as a terrible thing when a game has a linear story and sticks to it?

pork bun powered

Hi MinnMax + Kyle! Your discussion on Despelote made me think, what's the best "pound-for-pound" game? Or, what game with a very short runtime that has done the most with its minutes? The challenge for Jacob would be to name a game in addition to The Beginner's Guide.

Christian F.

Hi CLCs! Nintendo recently confirmed that the team behind DK Bananza is the same as Mario Odyssey. Which got me thinking, not really about a question, but a potential answer. Ben often asks about Nintendo’s secrecy around what team is developing a game. I’m almost certain it’s primarily due to Nintendo being a public company. The DK news, for example, raise concerns about the timeline for a new 3D Mario game, which will most likely affect their stock price. There are SO many gaming announcements from these companies that people find weirdly timed that are simply aimed at shareholders. Nintendo announcing a Splatoon offshoot on a random Tuesday and Xbox announcing an AMD collab for next gen consoles, all on a random day instead of the big Direct/Showcase they just had? Just stock market strategy, it’s not meant for fans.

Joey Smith

With 1000xResist last year and Despelote this year, it has been cool to see high profile indie games embrace being multilingual in different ways. What other ways do you think games could explore this while remaining as accessible as possible?

Dill Pickles

Howdy Minnmax and welcome Sir Bossman! Are there any games or game genres that you wish you could play/ that know you would enjoy in theory, but can’t? I wish I could play longer RPGs or games like death stranding 2, but by this point in my life I know I won’t be able to get through it without losing interest 20 or so hours in- it’s pretty frustrating knowing I would definitely enjoy a game if I could only force my brain to get through it. Have any of you had similar experiences? Keep up the good work yall! Jacob’s book was great btw! I loved the section his dad wrote (spoiler alert!)

RynaGoGo

Howdy MinnMax and Kyle Big Bosman! Is sand the worst thing about the beach? Or is it the best thing? It’s so polarizing, and after 38 years of going to the beach I still don’t know how I feel about it. It’s such a love hate relationship and I feel I should do a pros and cons list to finally figure this out.

Connor

Hey CLCs! With so many great games coming out all the time, how do you decide what games to play in your gaming time? I sometimes find myself getting decision paralysis with so many great titles to choose from. How do you decide which games to check out? Do you ever feel guilty spending a lot of time with one game knowing there are so many others you aren’t checking out? I imagine this would be much harder when prepping for GOTY discussions etc. but how do you balance chipping away at your backlog with the constant flow?

Cathal O'Halloran

Question for Kelsey, or anyone here who knows the answer. Why are used Pokemon games so expensive? Like, unboxed GBA pokemon games are all over 130 here. I don't get it, considering Pokemon games sell in their millions, so shouldn't be rare? Are there just a tonne of copies in attics and basements? Or do people rarely part with their mons?

DarkFishDays

What is your current or home town’s “Lil Sebastian”? Similar to the mini horse from Parks and Rec, your town’s Lil Sebastian could be anything that your town is obsessed over but no one else knows about. I realized my Lil Sebastian was Klondike and Snow, the twin polar bears born in the Denver Zoo in 1994. When my partner visited for the holidays my whole family at separate times brought up the bears without me knowing. Then months later I showed my partner a pin of Klondike and Snow and she burst out laughing.

Hello minnmax! I was playing clair obscur recently when it struck me how majestic and open the environments felt despite the relatively small play area thanks to the beautiful hi-res skyboxes. Do any of y’all have a particular favorite skybox/non-playable environment from a game?

Devin Atlee-Nutts

Hey MinnMaxers, Sony's Dual Analogue Controller released 28 years ago and set the standard for modern controller designs to this day. Any deviations from this design, like the Wii/Wii U controllers or touch controls of the DS haven't had much lasting impact beyond their own console ecosystem. The only lasting addition to the layout since then is a single 'Home' button on Playstation and Xbox controllers (which takes the same spot as the 'Analog' button). Do you think in another 30 years' time we'll be interacting with video games in a significantly different way?

Felix davin

Hello KyleBosMannMix, it's been more than 5 years and a half of getting better. Are Ben Hanson's initial intentions a roadblock to the idea that we are all good enough as we are ? Cheers.

Travis in Fargo

What video game do you most want a Portal-style developer commentary for?

austin nickelson

Hey all!! How does Kyle feel about being referred to as minnmax step dad? If Kyle is the step dad then who would yall consider the step mom?

Chris Fantry

Hi MinnMaximos! What ais a food you add toppings to that might be unusual? I've recently got into snacking on some and find it better than I remember and added peanut butter and chocolate or Oreos.

Luis

Kyle, you’ve worn many hats in the industry – from your creative work at Easy Allies to producing for major live events like The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest. What’s a behind-the-scenes moment from one of these live shows that fundamentally changed how you view the games industry?

Luis

Kyle, looking back on your time at Easy Allies, you were often credited as the "special sauce" behind some of their most unique content. What’s a project or segment you wish had gotten more attention, and what did you learn from its creation?

George Perry

Cohorts! What's the best game you've never played?

George Perry

Using the YouTube transcript website Ben was playing with last week, what game (or game series) do you think you've mentioned the most on the podcast? You could all take a guess and the cohort who guesses the game with the most mentions wins!

Damon from paradise

We're always learning interesting and novel video game history from this podcast, so I'd like to offer a Missed History Opportunity. Last time you were looking for the first time Nintendo had a naked character and it was right there in front of you the whole time! Donkey Kong (ref your DK reveal reaction stream)

Mason Cowell

At the end of the opening sequence of Clair Obscure, as the title card comes on screen just before they land on the continent, the musical sting of the mother freaking GAME OVER screen plays. To make that a question, is that the coolest thing from any game ever?

McGreevy

Show and tell cohorts! What is something in your home that fits in your hand with the best story behind it?

Tokyo Game Life

The year is halfway over, but are the nominees for Game of the Year at The Game Awards already locked in? Clair Obscur, Death Stranding 2, Split Fiction, Donkey Kong Bananza, Blue Prince, Ghost of Yotei. Do you see any other game getting a nomination over those six?

Vilis

Bonjour! Having finally completed Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, as a film/art freak, I kinda want to go back and play the whole thing in French to hear how the vibes change. By contrast I only played Ghost of Tsushima in Japanese in Kurosawa mode, but felt no need to go back and play in English in Colour. Is there any game you've played through, or wanted to play through in two languages to get different impressions?

pbpufs

Bosman (and fellow Digimon fans), which studio would be your dream pick to develop a new Digimon RPG?

Travis in Fargo

Do you ever compliment a total stranger? Whether you like their shirt, how they smell, or the music they’re blasting on their car stereo? What’s your personal stance on this?

KayBree

Hello! The MinnMax stories on Instagram often show the incorrect caption of 'Midmax' whenever Ben says MinnMax. How do you plan to retaliate against Instagram/Meta for such a devastating insult?

Unsupreme

Hello computer lovers, something to ponder: Is "Bop It!" a roguelike?

Nathan Ryer

Hey MinnMax! With the Castlevania GBA and DS collections and the Switch 2 out, will we finally get a proper new 2D Castlevania game? (It’s been 17 years since the masterpiece Order of Eclessia.)

Emily Webb

Would MinnMax consider playing Civ V and stream it? My spouse and I have played countless hours together. It’s also a game that different people play very differently so we would be interested in watching you all play it together.

Quaznarg

Hello Minnmax and Bosman, How much would a corporation have to offer you to legally change your name? You would now be named Ben Nestlé Hanson, or Janet Charles Schwab Investment Firm Garcia, or Kyle The 2026 Kia Forte Bosman. And Kyle, love Delayed Input, keep doing what you're doing. -Quaznarg

FinalSin

Hey all, what's your vice?

Zae

Hey Minnmax, What would be an interesting game genre and style of game matchup? For example a first person soccer game, or a turn based racing game?

Bayleaf Moon

G’Day MinnMax! Animal Crossing has come to the Melbourne Aquarium and I’m so excited to go for the stamp rally! Whats a fictional video game event you would love to come to your city?

Michael Nickley

Hey MinnMax Crew! An experience that I always appreciate is when I find myself crying at a work of art for reasons that I don’t fully understand in the moment. Trying to unpack these reactions after the fact often helps me to cultivate a deeper sense of self-understanding. In this spirit, what’s a game or other piece of art/media that evoked a strong emotional reaction from you… but you weren’t entirely sure why?

Shawn Singh

Hey MinnMax and Happy July! Is there a mentor, teacher, professor, etc. you've had or worked with that has shaped how you are as an individual in the workforce/who you are as a person? Can be someone who you really look up (or someone you strive not to be like)! For example, my college band director (positively) guided my perspective on education philosophy/life and how I currently teach my students in my music program. Cheers everyone!

Kevin Kuper

Hello all! Batman and Spiderman have both had excellent video games but what super hero would be best suited for a video game that hasn't already been done? Doesn't have to be one in production just what move set would translate the best?

D M

Have you ever read a "choose your own adventure" book? Does this count as reading, or playing a game?

Bon Jon Bovi

Kyle, can you convince at least one person on the panel to cosign your take on A Link To The Past? (PS: I agree with you)

clay_dough

What are your top 4 favorite movies?

Aging_Poorly

Question for Bosman: what's the best gag you've ever pitched for a Keighley special that you weren't allowed to do? (for everyone else: ever pitched a skit or joke or the like for school or Game Informer that got turned down?

LlorchDurden

Hello crew, welcome Bosman. Beautiful intro to celebrate the 300th episode last week. Really moving. Question for the crew, How come Ben hasn't aged at all in 300 episodes and y'all looked like the toon version of yourself when introduced compared to today? Specially Janet and Jacob! Bosman, are you concerned about how much you'll age during this month?

Jason Wojnar

What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened on a date. Obviously don't get x-rated with it. I, on two separate occasions but at the exact same place, ripped my pants while dancing Salsa and Bachata on a date. One time the rip was small and no one saw it but the other time it was so big I had to ask my date if we could wrap the sweater she wasn't using around my waist to hide it. The funny thing is that the latter date ended up being a relationship that lasted several years. I guess I'll also add that I am a very capable Salsa and Bachata dancer, so that helped.

Scott H

Hello Maxers! Not really a question but I just wanted to write in so Kyle can roast Ben for picking PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC in 2022 for release calendar shoot-out and trying to convince everyone that it would be an interesting game.

demo_sphere

G'day MinnMax, and G'day to the Dark Prince of Nerd Media. My kids are almost exclusively playing Free Roam in Mario Kart, they don't at all seem intrested in doing the races. They just want to drive on walls and run over Shy Guys. So my question is, should the children be considered more when reviewing video games?

Alex McMillan

Hey Minns and Maxes! My TV allows you to rename the HDMI ports, so I've labelled them all with their appropriate consoles. I have replaced my Switch with a Switch 2, is it worth me taking a singular minute out of my day to make the port say "Switch 2" now?

b_wood

It has now been 1 month since SGF started (if you count PS State of Play). Is there a game that you are still thinking about? I still think about Marvel Tōkon and I am not a fighting game guy.

Sam Hookom

One of my pet peeves with open world games is, at times, it can feel like the story is nagging you to push on, despite myself wanting to explore and just be in the world. Which open world games have the best balance between their story and giving the player space to exist in the world?

Jake

Perform a single kamehameha (can charge it whenever but once fired its gone) or 1.25 million cash

CaffeineDad

Hey gang! Have you ever had a game so addictive that you felt the need to put it away? I’m playing a ton of Magic the Gathering’s Magic Arena app because of the Final Fantasy collab they’re currently doing, but I think I’m going to have to uninstall because I just keep playing one more match.

Beau Bakken

Hey Minnmax and Kyle. Ben and Kelsey were just talking on Bonus Pod about pet names and kid names. It reminded me of my family's recent summer trip. We were walking on a lot of hiking trails in the Black Hills of South Dakota and somewhere early on I decided just on a goof to come up with a different name for each of my kids when crossing paths with other hikers we would never see again. They became Flip, Mabel, Yuna, and Maxis. I forgot to use the fake names if it looked like one of them was tripping or in danger of being to near a cliff side, but for the most part we stuck to the dumb social experiment. Ever done something similar?

Admiral Ackbar's Snackbar

Hi Ben and the computer loving cohorts, Have Yall checked out “What the Clash?” on Apple Arcade from the makers of “What the golf?” And “what the car?”. Talk about fun mini-games. Welcome Tour should have taken notes. Thanks for the great content as always! Happy Episode 301!

Thom Blackburn

Hi everybody! What types of games would be made worse by including a "new game plus" feature? New game minus if you will. -Thom Blackburn

Emmett Watkins Jr.

Howdy! Hope im not too late on this, but wanted too late to bring this up this week, but wanted to know if y'all've heard of the Stop Killing Games initiative? I just wanted to bring it up to have yet another chance to get some conversation around it. They're looking for 1 million signatures in the EU by the end of the month, and they're 80% there, so hopefully they make it. Here's a link for more context if needed: https://www.stopkillinggames.com/

Luca Alberti

Hello MM crew and Kyle (big fan). Are we sure Donkey Kong Bananza is a platformer? I get it's something we take for granted given DK's legacy, but nothing about Bananza, outside of the side scrolling stages, really screams platformer to me: DK can climb almost any surface with no stamina, his jump isn't particularly high and smashshing allows him to circumvent obstacles rather than face them. Isn't this just an Actiong game with some platforming side missions??

Michael Fahy

What do you like about your current office / gaming set up? What do you want to change?

Draffut

Morning M&M's, What's the spiciest thing you have ever eaten? Would you do it again?

Richard Varall

Hey Everybody. Given Ben’s well known love of Jurassic Park and Final Fantasy VII, I was curious what he and the rest of the group think of the new Jurassic World movie being titled “Rebirth”. On a surface level this seems like a slight crossing of two of Ben (and many other nerdy millennials’) favorite things. But taking it a step further, do you think that this is a sign of games and eastern pop culture becoming ingrained in Western media? Obviously anime and games are much more socially accepted than they were when millennials were kids, so is this a sign of the times or a coincidence? Is The Goonies Vol. 2 365 Days / 3.14 next?

Ryan Bird

While 99.99% of me is devastated, angry, and horrified over the rumored and actual Microsoft Studio layoffs and closures. Is there anyone on the panel that also agrees with the sick 0.01% of me that would be excited for a 2 Player Productions documentary to come out of a Double Fine closure? PsychOdyssey showing the struggles of an independent studio trying to find financing juxtapositioned with a documentary showing how the same small studio operates while owned by a giant corporate conglomerate and the different fears that come from that could be a contender for greatest work of art of all time.
