If you had to drive a car without a speedometer, how long could you go without getting pulled over?

Lewis K

Hey team, At what age do you think you’ll play your last video game?

Neal McMahon

Hey maxers, How often are your top 10 games of all time shook up by a new game? Personally, my top three games of all time has not changed since 2008, as no new game has ever been able to surpass MGS3 and MGS4. My top 4-10 games sometimes alter every 3 to 5 years, (eg The Witcher 3, Red Dead 2) but it is very rare that my top 10 is drastically shifted. Is it a product of nostalgia or are games just not as good as they used to be?

Malcolm Holliday

If you had to set up a panel or talk to give at a games conference like GDC what would your topic be about?

Jerry Young

Hi minnmax. So after finishing prince of Persia lost crown, the timing worked out great with rogue prince of Persia getting its full release. The dead cells dna is there but it’s very much its own game and I’m loving it. This got me thinking, are the two best prince of Persia games not traditional prince of Persia games? Are there any other franchises you would like to see games outside of its traditional genre?

Steve Bellegarde

Hey MinnMax! Inspired by Jacob’s latest video, are there any old strategy guides that hold a special place in your heart? For me it’s the Final Fantasy X guide. It was given to me with the game and it is one of my most precious childhood objects.

Mike Lynch

I just saw a video of a person petting a vulture that landed on their paraglider. What do you think will be the next animal that humans will completely domesticate?

Travis in Fargo

I recently watched a movie that earned a 10/10 rating from a popular video game/entertainment outlet. I had a bad time watching it, and I thought the movie was awful. What review or writeup made you go “whoa, whoa, huh?!? What were they SMOKING?!?”

Jacob Mazanowski

What’s your spirit animal for the the last few years? Has it changed through your life?

Elliot G

Based off historical real world name origins, is Yoshi the only canonically Japanese character in the Mario games?

Neal McMahon

Question on MGS 3 Delta: are the old movie clips, JFK footage, and all that still in this remake? I know Konami had issues with the licensing in the past. Is this still as issue?

Zachary Sweet

During the Minneapolis Travelogue, Sarah made a reference to the show Taskmaster. And this begs the question, why hasn't there been a New Show Plus option for a MinnMax version of Taskmaster?

Sam Worms

What’s your party trick? I do a pretty solid Wookie roar.

Cath

Was there a European difference at Gamescon compared to e3 or sgf

CaffeineDad

Hey gang! Are you allowed to change your favorite color? Growing up, my mom would dress me in red and my brother in blue or green because we looked alike, and she thought it was cute, so I thought my favorite color was red. Now as an adult I realize that I’m more of a light blue kinda guy. Follow-up: favorite colors?

Elias Armendariz

Hey MinnMax, it's HR required team building time! Which cohort do you think you know the best, and which cohort would you like to get to know better?

DylanTheWizard

Do y'all use sunscreen everyday? Cause you should!

Christian Hall

Hey MinnMax! I went down a Trackmania rabbit hole on YouTube recently. Enjoying all this content, it prompted me to try the game out for myself. Sadly, I didn’t have nearly as much fun playing Trackmania as I did watching pros play it. Outside of made-for-stream games like Only Up or Getting Over It, what’s a game or genre you prefer to watch rather than play?

Lamb Dance

Hey MinnMax! This week I’ve been thinking about all the indie games that have been delayed in the wake of Hollow Knight: Silksong, including stuff I was looking forward to like Baby Steps and Demonschool. I understand why these games might be worried about releasing near another big indie, and they’re just trying to find the best window for their game to release. But it still seems to me like it might be overreaction - I feel like a great game can breakout whenever it comes out, and coming out at the same time as a big game in a different genre shouldn’t really be a problem. I wanted to hear MinnMax’s takes. Are games right to be afraid of releasing near Hollow Knight: Silksong? Bonus Question: Would you be more afraid to release your indie game at the same time as Silksong or Hades 2?

JG

Hey CLCs, with the positive reception of Delta, and assuming it sells well, Konami would be stupid not to start developing another MGS remake (if they haven’t already). This presents a tricky problem: MGS2 would probably be the easiest to remake for the delta team yet would be tough for series newcomers who have only played delta to understand, on the other hand MGS1 makes the most narrative sense although it would take a lot of work and would require more liberal changes than 3/2. What do you think is the best option going forward for the team considering their technocratic approach towards remaking 3. Love the show!

Tess

Hey MinnMax! Which real band has the most "That's a good Band Name"-styled name.

Elizabeth Fort

What is the next super smash bro going to be like? How can they iterate on ultimate or do they just try something completely new

Rich Lynch

With the upcoming possible of release of Toxic Commando, when will MinnMax get John Carpenter on the show?

LivingZombie00

Sup MinnMaxers? Well known throughout the Metal Gear series is the fact that a simple cardboard box can be the most indispensable piece of equipment in a spies' inventory. What is a thing you use all the time that is super important to you, but might seem silly or right out useless to someone not in the know?

Rikimaru

Hey MinnMax! What game has inspired you to travel? After playing Persona 5 I planned my first trip to Japan and Death Stranding 2 has me looking forward to visiting Australia. If not a real world location, has a game with a fictional setting ever made you want to travel? Thanks!

Swansonge

Hey cohorts, what’s your ideal Deepest Dive scenario? Is it one where a game you’ve anticipated for a long time delivers on a great discussion? One where a game comes out of nowhere and you quickly pivot to do a Deepest Dive on it? Something else?

Tyler

Do you ever do something or see something irl that immediately inspires you to play a specific game? For example, I recently went on a work trip to South Dakota and got to visit the badlands. When I got home I immediately booted up Red Dead Redemption 2 and proceeded to walk through all the various terrains lol.

Erik Welsh

Where's your favorite third place to game (i.e. in a car on a roadtrip, library, in the death zone of mount everest, at the club)?

Eliinspace

What's the best food ever?

Muffyn Crumbs

Hey crew, following your epic in-person meetup a few weeks ago, will Minnmax ever do a live audience for a Minnmax show episode?

Orange Wedge

Hey gang! Ever since I moved to Virginia, I've been blown away by the amount of personalized license plates around here. I usually find them cringeworthy and embarrassing, with one rare exception that just said UGLY JR. It makes me wonder about who ugly senior is. If you were forced to choose a personalized license plate, what would it say?

Donald Wieden

IM CLAIMING CREDIT! In my introduction email for Patreon, I mentioned Into the Aether, which Ben said he had never heard of. The next week?! Ben starts to mention ITA! I have the receipts! My question: what's your greatest "I'm responsible for that connection"?

HaulingGas

Hey Gamescommers (three Ms), Sooo Love and Deepspace won Best Mobile Game at Gamescom this year. I have a feeling that Sarah wouldn't be happy if you ignored it, so I'm submitting this question to save your bottoms: Does the success of Love and Deepspace mean the videogame industry is headed in the right direction in terms of inclusivity? Do any of you care at all?

Keaton Johnson

The hot new roguelike Raccoin has a A+ pun name and includes a trash panda to increase the games charm and style. What recent game could have been improved with a pun title and a furry friend playable character?

Cody A

In games when you defeat an enemy they often drop a food item. If the same were true of real life... What food would you drop when you die? Also would you eat that food if it dropped from someone you knew?

RynaGoGo

Hello Ana and the Hortz! Now that the giant that is Silksong has a release date, how long until people stop asking “Where’s Silksong?” In chat for directs? Will people still think it’s funny in a year? Or is it just going to naturally turn into “Where’s GTA6?”

Kep

Ghost of yotei is coming out on October 2nd and Taylor swift is releasing her new album October 3rd. Is it possible anyone at sucker punch is concerned about releasing so close to Taylor swift like everyone’s worried about silksong/gta 6. Or is music and video games enough of a separation that it’s not a worry even with someone as huge as Taylor swift?

Derek Achoy

Is Nintendo conceding a big chunk of the young kids demographic by becoming increasingly budget-unfriendly, and is this going to bite them in the butt later?

JHerb

Hey cohorts! With Gamescom now behind us, feels like a good time to refresh the question: What is your favorite gaming show/conference reveal or experience? Could be a shadow drop announcement, talking with a specific developer or colleague, or witnessing a miracle on the show floor. Thanks for all you do!

Trebor Treebeard

Other than Minnesota, what is the most beautiful state/province in the U.S. and Canada?

L Stockler

Hey! If you could choose a superpower for another cohort, what would it be?

Sincerly, Eric

I would like to share what I am going to call a BetterTip (please feel free to share a better name) This Podcast is all about Games, Friends, and getting Better so I would like to add a personal life hack that has made my life better, and see if you all have similar suggests. A few Months ago I started exchanging Apologies, with Gratitude. By this I mean, instead of "Sorry to keep you waiting." I have started using "thank you for waiting." 90% of interactions can be changed like this, but it has made me feel so much better and I think other people react better as well. Instead of me feeling like a apologetic burden to them, I make them know I am thankful for them. It just changes the whole mood. Do any of you have any small phrases that make a big difference. Or any other BetterTips to share?

CrabPalace

Y'all see any good live entertainment lately? Comedy, music, theatre?

landsealion

Do highly anticipated games (for example Silksong or GTA 6) have a responsibility to other games to announce their release dates more in advance? Lots of games (mostly indie) have been scrambling to change their release plans because of Silksong.

Luis Pérez

When traveling, what's something you've wished you could bring back home and have it available forever? (public transportation, food or candy, general kindness, etc.)

Adam

Hey all: As game critics on a gaming podcast whose opinions influence our purchases, do you approve of us buying Silksong at launch with zero reviews available, on the grounds of "everyone thinks it'll probably be fine?" If so, does that lessen the value of podcast discussions around it or similar games?

RickyWinterborn

If Ana Diaz is "On-a-DS" what are the equivalent nicknames for all the other cohorts? Kelsey is obviously "On-a-Wonderswan"

Fancygraham

What do you do when you’re playing a single player game but you have someone else beside you watching who is…let’s call them…a well intentioned backseat gamer? They just want to help you find things, however they regularly ask you to turn around because they think they saw something, or go back and do something you’re just not in the mood to do that moment. I know I could just say stop, but I don’t want them to be discouraged from enjoying their time with the game even if I’m the one playing it.

SlyCut

Hello all, What is your ideal nap? Where at? How long? Or do you hate naps?

Jump On Everything

Recently a lake where I live almost completely dried up which meant that for the first time the little island in the middle of the lake was accessible by land and I could actually wade over to it. This immediately made me think of how many games have something similar to that moment. So my question is have you ever experienced a video game cliché in real life?

I_Am_Magnus

Hey gang With Gamescom now having come to an end and at least me learning for the first time that there's such a thing as Gamescom Asia I got thinking Do you think there's a games conference or event that should exist but doesn’t? Something that highlights either certain cultures or minorities that more should know about

Mark Polley

Playing Burnout 3 the other day, I came to the conclusion that it reprints the Arcade Racers completion. I.e. the games released since haven't really gotten better in a definitive way, just small tweaks here and there. What are some other genres that have been "complete", and what were the games that did it? Are there any other genres in the "end game" I.e. almost complete, but there is still room for the defining title

ThomperPippin

What's the most fun or the most you really connected with a game that was less than $20?

BobaFets

What's your favorite console box? N64 for me.

Joe Kafchinski

What's up with the zeitgeist around Metal Gear Solid 5? I had never played an MGS game so I decided to fire up MGSV after loving Death Stranding 1 and 2. I remember the scuttlebutt around 5's launch being that it was one of the best games ever made, which the 93 on Metacritic would back up. Now, when I was looking up stuff on the game, I regularly see it ranked 4th or 5th just among MGS games. Why do you think the consensus did such a 180 around the game?

Shawninator

Hey folks! What's the worst Hotel/AirBNB/VRBO experience you've had? For my honeymoon we had a nice little unit in a duplex, but the shower had a window starting at about 5 foot height that went into the entryway that had big windows and a screen door. It faced away from the road, but still a bit weird; especially at night.

Ari

Hiiii Ana, can you tell us your thoughts and feelings about Pokemon Legends Z-A. Oh and one fun fact about yourself. Thank you!

Poofydoo

What song/artist/music are you self aware of? Ben mentioned on the first podcast of A Fire Inside Out that he was self aware that the music he liked was dumb. Any of you still feel that way?

Luis

Konami calls Metal Gear Solid Delta a "faithful remake" of the original. When it comes to remakes or remasters, do you prefer them to stick closely to the original with updated visuals, or reimagine the game more dramatically, like Resident Evil 4?

Michael Lane

Coming off of Gamescom, if you had a time machine and could go back to visit any games tradeshow in any location/era, which would you want to go see? E3 2004 for the infamous Twilight Princess reveal? A late-90s Tokyo Game Show? Anything you wish you could have experienced in person?

Felix davin

Hello friends. Ana, if you had complete financial freedom and two free days per week, what game media endeavor would you tackle ? Obviously others are welcome to endeavor forward their endeavors. Merci et bonne journée !

Vilis

A simple question with complex answers: between Death Stranding 2 and Metal Gear Solid Delta, which Kojima joint do you prefer? Numerous cold war and Bond movie references, or contemplations on death and life and extinction? Also, there's that afterlife river scene in Delta where Snake gets accosted by every enemy he has killed in the game so far: prototype concept of some Death Stranding stuff?

pork bun powered

Hi MinnMax! I liked the discussion last week about how "every indie Art Game is Journey now" in that you're restoring color to a colorless world. It made me think about the limitations of trying to tell a story with only symbols and basic gameplay. Would these games have benefited from a less abstract narrative? What are some different types of stories that you think could be told effectively with these restrictions?

Luca Alberti

Howdy MM crew! Since Ana and Janet attended Gamescom I would like to ask about some cultural shocks (if any) that they experienced in Cologne! Did you enjoy Germany overall?

Galexzzz

Hey MinnMax! I feel like tag lines aren’t emphasized enough in video game marketing these days. What have been your favourite ones from recent or old ones you still love?

Juniper Cain

Hi all! With Gamescom fresh on the mind, have you ever really adored a particular demo or slice of a game you got to play at an event, but then really didn’t enjoy the finished product? What’s your biggest “why didn’t they make it all like that?”

Postcards From The Ether

What is the ideal snack to have while gaming? Alternatively, what is the absolute worst snack to eat while gaming?

Travis in Fargo

If you could communicate with your 12 year old self, what would you tell them that would absolutely blow their little preteen mind? (Positive or negative)

Seneca Kier

What video game franchise has the best plushes? I don't want to hear any figurine business here, where can I find the most delightful little friends to get cozy with?

Tokyo Game Life

I’ve been really enjoying Chibi-Robo on Switch 2, so I checked out the original Game Informer review. It got a 5/10 with the subheading, “Want to play a mean joke on your kids? Buy them this game!” What’s an unusually harsh criticism of a game that stuck with you?

Xavier Perez

Hey Minnmax crew, as a follow up to the discussion about video game soundtracks last week, I have a bit of an inverse question. Ever since my wife and I had our first baby in April, my gaming time has almost exclusively been at nighttime while monitoring the baby’s sleep. Therefore I’ve been playing mostly handheld, and on mute so I can pay attention to any cries. I know I’m missing out on some great music but I’m still having a good time gaming this way. Have any of you ever played a game fully on mute? If so, have you ever went back to replay it later unmuted?

Xavier Richardson

Hey Minnmax, I'm playing clair obscur while I'm having fun, the audio timing/mixing is super funny, like everyone a track ends it just hard cuts and then there's a long silence before it loops again or the backing track goes from loud to quiet super quickly in cuisines, etc. My question is: What are some moments in games (quirks, bugs, design choices, etc) that reminded you the game is made by flawed humans?

Dan Villone

Hi CLCs, so I've lost count of the number of times Ben has done a Jerry Seinfeld impression during the show. What are the rest of the cohorts' go-to celebrity impressions?

Geebeesee

What are you grabbing from the fridge after a long, late night gaming session before you finally head to bed?

Travis in Fargo

When was the last time you wrote out more than one sentence using a pen or pencil and paper? Bonus question: what’s your favorite kind of pen? I’m a big InkJoy Gel pen guy.

Sleeksaber

What is your favorite rediscovery you've experienced in your life? Something you might have loved and enjoyed from the past, completely forgot about, and either randomly remembered or came across years later again. Doesn't have to just be a video game (music, movie, anything).

Frostphorus

When you're demoing a game in front of the developer, like at gamescom, and they ask you "what'd you think?" How much criticism is appropriate? Do you just say, "it was good" or politely say "not for me". Or can you get detailed like "the jumping felt weird"?

FinalSin

What is the scariest thing you have ever done, but in the end, turned into a great experience? (besides starting minnmax) I am terrified of heights, but took flying lessons, most enjoyable experience ever!

b_wood

I am really happy to see Ana Diaz on the podcast. It feels like a gift to have her on. Do you have someone you hope can join the podcast some day?

b_wood

As you probably already know, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged. The announcement has given us another example of how popular Taylor Swift is. The engagement announcement had nearly 5M likes & 2M repost in 2 hours. It currently has over 27M likes. Creators who I have never heard talk about Taylor Swift started posting content about the engagement. Also, Taylor was on Travis's podcast two weeks ago and YouTube was going crazy. Not the people on YouTube, but the official YouTube channel on YouTube kept adding comments every time they posted a short about the episode. Sometimes it is hard to compare the cultural impact of one person compared to others throughout history. However, can you think of someone who has demanded this much attention from the public?

Chris Fantry

Hey MinnMaximos. What would you do if you had a Brewster's Millions situation but could only use the money for MinnMax related content?

Chris Fantry

Hi MinnMax! I live in Florida and it feels like it's almost always summer and it sucks. What do you think is the worst season?

BEEFCAKE

Where do you think Silk Song will land in the two tens?

Jason Wojnar

Hi Minnmax, with Death Stranding 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 both coming out within a short timespan, makes me ask, do you miss short Kojima games? I love Phantom Pain and both Death Strandings but I also long for the shorter game where detail and unique environmental interaction is packed into ever corner. Do you think we'll see him make a shorter, linear game ever again?

Josh Lamm

What's a food from a place you've traveled to in the past that you miss the most and would travel there again just to have that?

Kajkacz

Being from Europe, it seems that all of you often spend a lot of time working. How is MinnMax work life balance for you?

Jake

Whats a song you could sing perfectly a Capella if you cloned yourself for the different instruments

Duderado

Does non-spoken written text in video games hit as hard emotionally as spoken dialog?

Thorn23

Hi crew, down here in the ‘upside down’, aka AUS, we be getting some wonderful Tariff 🎁 recently from u guys lol - but also the miraculous return of a certain legendary print magazine, so in a way it cancels out 🤷🏻‍♂️ Question today is - are you a Morning person or a night person? How do you best manage either with your particular work schedules? No wrong answer here, Take care! T-23 from Melb!

Chris Underwood

What are the best non-AAA narrative games of recent times.

TheFrigidPixel .

Hi MinnMax crew, my wife and I are actually headed up to Minneapolis for vacation, and I wanted to hear if y’all have any must go to restaurants or eateries that you’d recommend to non-locals. Thanks again for the great content!

Robbie Dolan

Hey Minnmaxers, hope your all having a good week. I just recently played through Still Wakes the Deep and (being from Scotland) I really appreciated the authentic accents and vocabulary as it is something that's usually done poorly or not included at all. So my question is, What is the best (or worst) representation of your home town/country in a game? Thanks and keep up the great work!

Boondock-Bandit

Hey all, IO Interactive is unlocking exclusive skins and such for 007 First Light based on Steam wishlist numbers. Has something like this been done before? Is this cool, or is it a bit wierd?

LlorchDurden

how many time have you bought MGS3 Snake Eater so far? :P

Leon Kennedy’s Shoulders

Hey Cohorts! Last week you debated over who the cutest villain is. I’d like to ask, who do you think is the cutest *companion* character in a video game? For me it’s Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite. I feel like she’s the cutest because she was so sheltered, and throughout the game her reactions to seeing new things for the first time was really fun to watch. It was a welcome break from an otherwise brutal game.

Sky Fellowship

Do any of you have a genre that you love, but can burn out on so fast that when a hugely anticipated game in said genre is due for release, you just don't play the genre at all until that one game drops? Personally, Metroidvanias, I absolutely adore them, but usually play them non stop until genre burnout kicks in and then can't touch them for years. As a result, the Silksong wait has been a brutal, cause I haven't even dared play Metroid Dread, let alone Blasphemous, Ori, Nine Sols and more, because when everyone assumed Silksong could've shadow dropped at any time, I just couldn't risk being in Metroidvania burnout mode.
