Hi folks. I am almost finished my playthrough of Metroid Prime 4 which has been average at best. But to my surprise, I have been loving playing the game with mouse controls. I needed to remap the scan visor to the R3 button, but once that was done I found it shockingly comfy to use the joycon as a mouse. It especially shined once I switched it to linear mode + 120fps. I missed out on the Bonus Pod episode on Hidden Gem games, but I wanted to shout out Kingdoms of the Dump, which came out last month. It's an Earthbound/Secret of Mana type RPG where you play as a trashcan squire named Dustin Binsley who goes on an adventure to save the king of the Lands of Fill. I absolutely love the writing and all the trash based puns (especially all the NPC names). The game went up on kickstarter 6 years ago, and was created by a couple of janitors, so it's definitely a project of love. Really hope more people get to play it as it's absolutely flying under the radar right now.

What's a genre of game you wish would return? Myself, Arcadey sports games. NHL HITZ, NFL BLITZ, FIFA STREET, NBA JAM etc... I don't even like sports outside of hockey, but I grew up loving sports games. Then sports games started focusing more on realism than fun and I dropped off hard. Probably just as well as now, sports games focus more on battle basses and loot boxes and "fun" is so far from the forefront that I don't think anyone even enjoys them anymore, which might sound weird but seriously, when is the last time a sports game dropped that people played and played and played cause it was just good old pure fun?

I was having a really hard time with silk song and was this close to putting it down and forgetting it. I was recommended a mod that decreases the damage enemies do to you and gave it a try. The difference was night and day. I no longer felt the game was unfair. Silksong became my game of the year all due to this one change. G’Day MinnMax Gears of War and Halo are incredibly similar it’s almost eerie, both had their trilogy made by established companies that innovated gaming immensely, following the trilogy both games changed to internal Xbox developers that proceeded to make 4&5 in the series for them to split their community due to changes My question is, why do you think Halo gets all the conversations about its life and decline but Gears of War is never talked about? To me they are both reflect each others situation perfectly Thanks!!

I’ve noticed that indie game ads on Reddit never have the title in the heading. It’s always key art with a descriptive heading like “co-op roguelike dungeon crawler!”, forcing you to click through to see the title of the game. Is this effective marketing or a turn off?

Now that we're a few weeks past the Thanksgiving Joke-a-thon, are there any jokes you thought of later and thought, "man, I wish I would have thought of that sooner"? Here's one: I'm Thankful that Nintendo didn't carry on with the Nintendo 64 name and increase it sequentially with each new generation. Because that would mean that the Switch 2 would be named "Nintendo 69" and when grandma asks what I want for Christmas, that's a conversation I'd rather not have.

I have a gaming confession about a dirty honorable victory that I was unable to share in the Google Doc for New Show + this week. My family was playing Lego Party with the CPU as the 4th player. After losing a gold brick, I had 2 less gold bricks than the first place CPU. In the last round, I earned two gold bricks, but since I had less studs, the CPU was still in first place. On my daughter's last turn, I reminded her she had a power up and this is the last chance to use it. Turns out, it was a thief power up and allowed her to steal a gold brick. I convinced her to steal a gold brick from the CPU. This put me in first place and allowed me to win the game. It also “earned” me the trophy “Honorable Victory”, which you earn when you win a game without stealing from another player. So technically I didn't steal, I just convinced my innocent daughter to do the dirty work. I feel bad about that. The thing is…I would do it again. When we play party games, I am OK with the results as long as the CPU doesn't win. If I end up getting an unearned trophy for it, then so be it. By any means necessary, the CPU can not win. How bad is this? Do you have any trophies/achievements won in a dirty way?

Conversation from the Discord : What games do you think could be reskinned as another game and still work. For example Tunic is a solid Zelda-Like, that might be more liked if it was in the actual Zelda universe. What about if the Last of Us was reskinned as Donkey Kong Bananza, would the game and story hold up? I think Aesthetics are pretty important to a game.
