What cereal is acceptable to eat soggy? I love soggy Apple Jacks how about you? PS after hearing the cereal comments by Ben a while back, can we have a bonus pod dedicated to nighttime cereal eating?I too find a good bowl of cereal soothing at the end of a night.

Hopefully it’s many years away, but the reality is: one day, there will be a final episode of the MinnMax podcast. First off, have you thought much about this? And secondly, what would you plan for the grand finale of MinnMax? The All Time Two Tens? A 10 hour podcast with guests galore? Musical guest Charles Harte performing several new, original songs and parodies?

Mike R.

Hey Crew, what is your favorite snack now and as a kid growing up?

PhillyYeetSteak

Hey crew, Do you prefer a game have great combat or great traversal?

Chris Tesiny

What part of your current jobs do you feel you’ve had to grow the most for? Currently working on some areas for a job I took that was completely new for me and finding it hard to find ways to understand and improve so any shared experiences you can share would be great! The adjustment has been difficult but trying to work through it.

Sam Worms

What's your go-to Dairy Queen order?

I’ve been thinking about Janet’s references to playing the GBA version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater growing up. what is your favorite 2000s obligatory handheld port of a popular game? Did you like this version more than the more popular console versions?

Spencer P

I was listening to a podcast from a newspaper and they had on their Culture editor but the culture editor at one point stated that they knew nothing about video games. Do you think that this is a gap that should be filled? How important do you think games are in the broader idea of "Culture"?

Travis in Fargo

What non-musical video game would make the best musical movie adaptation, and why?

Sky Fellowship

Hey, you ever stop to think about how wild the 3DS was? Not only did we get 3D without glasses, but in that 1 little console, you can play every single era of Nintendo save for Virtual Boy games I'll only provide 1-2 examples per console but NES (Ice Climbers, Zelda) SNES (Super Mario World, Super Metroid) N64 (Starfox 3D, Mario 64 DS) Gamecube (Luigi's Mansion 1, Ocarina Of Time's Master Quest which was a Gamecube exclusive) Wii (Xenoblade Chronicles, Kirby's Epic Yarn) Wii U (Yoshi's Wooly World, Super Mario Maker) Switch (Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors) Switch 2 (Captain Toad, Donkey Kong Country Returns... They got updates to run better on Switch 2, this counts!) Gameboy (Donkey Kong 94, WarioLand) Gameboy Color (Oracles Of Ages/Seasons) Gameboy Advance (Metroid Fusion, WarioWare Inc.) Nintendo DS (Backwards Compatability) Nintendo 3DS (Its actual function) So outside of Virtual Boy (which requires you mod your 3DS to play) and yes I admit I'm being very cheeky with the Switch 2 games and Zelda's Master Quest mode counting for Gamecube, but all this still does mean that the 3DS is the only Nintendo system that allows you to experience at least 2, 1st Party Nintendo game from every era of Nintendo consoles/handhelds.

thejjuan1

Hello Minnmax. Have you seen the interview with Naoki Hamaguchi confirming that Chadley is a fan favorite character and will play an important part in FF7 Remake Part 3. “We understand that many fans are fond of Chadley. However, whether he’s become a playable character is something we’re unable to comment on at this time. That said, Chadley will continue to play an important role even in the final installment of the trilogy. His strong curiosity and tendency to talk a bit too much - inherent traits that he’s aware of and somewhat self-conscious about - will be further explored in the third game, too. It’d make me happy if players could warmly follow how Chadley becomes involved in the story and what role he takes in supporting it.” So Minnmax crew are you ready to admit that you guys are in the minority of the hate towards Chadley. That he is as beloved as Cloud and Tifa. That by the end of Part 3 will you love him more than Arthur Morgan or GLaDOS. Open your hearts, Minnmax. Be on the right side of history.

Hey Suriel! What fighting game should Minnmax cover for their next Deepest Dive?? Why won't Ben let this happen?? Miss hearing you on the show!

Stevelution

On the latest Bonus Pod Ben talked about the recent Starfox reaction stream and potentially being too negative but also not wanting to be disingenuous in his reaction. As games journalists how difficult do you find it to strike the right balance between honesty and positivity in your writing and discussion?

Luke Watts

What are the chances from 0 to 100 that Rockstar bought the rights to the Nemesis system and have put it in GTA6 cos I think that would pretty cool.

Daniel May

Hi MinnMax, I'm borrowing a question from the Triple Click mailbag: what is a failure from your experience that you learned/grew from and how did you learn/grow?

Tyler Sticka

Hello hello, cohorts! Once I had an issue where my car's speedometer got stuck, I was quoted four figures to replace the whole console, and I fixed it by running a $2 magnet above the gauges. What's the most satisfying fix or repair you've pulled off yourself?

Linktrev

Hey MinnMax Crew, If you could snap your fingers and instantly teleport to one specific location, where would you choose? The catch is that it's always the same destination every time, and only you get teleported no bringing anyone else along. Where are you setting your teleport point, and why?

Jeeo Banogy

Anyone else impressed at Pearl Abyss's patching speed for Crimson Desert? Do you think that stems from them being used to patching an MMO or are they just pushing their devs really hard?

Stay At Home Gamer

In honor of Lego Batman, it seems like the consensus for the Arkham games is either Asylum is better or City is the best. What are the cohorts thoughts?

Malcolm Holliday

Hey MinnMax! I've recently have been thinking of entering a fighting game local tournament, just trying to find one that fits my schedule, maybe this is my Better Quest goal 🤔?! My question is have any of y'all considered entering a gaming competition? Which type do you think you'd crush? Speed running, shooters MVC2 👀?

Patrick G

Here's a Q James Bond, Mina, LEGO Batman, and Yoshi - Final Destination, no (new items) who wins?

Tracy B

When 007 First Light was announced, it seemed obvious that IO Interactive was a perfect fit for the James Bond franchise. What other studios are there that would have a perfect fit property for them to adapt?

Jason Wojnar

I feel like I have been witness to a disproportionate amount of street fights in my life time. I don’t look for them but they just seem to happen around me kind of often. When was the last time you saw two or more people get into a physical altercation?

Travis in Fargo

What’s a weird bit of advice you took to heart? A while back, someone on Reddit extolled the virtues of hanging from monkey bars for a couple minutes. Apparently it helped with their back or shoulder pain. Now I hang from monkey bars when I have the opportunity.

Blobarsmartin

In GTA Online, you are prompted to butter up the dancers at the stripclub by talking into your microphone. What is the most ill advised prompt in a game?

Bill

Hey MinnMax. What game would be interesting to adapt into a book, and what book would be interesting to adapt into a game? Visual novels are an acceptable (but cowardly) answer.

JessHawk

What's your favorite 007 Goldeneye or Perfect Dark Memory? Mine is learning about the cheat codes and my friends cousins spending an hour during his birthday unlocking everything and then us duking it out with paintball and dual wielding weapons!

BEEFCAKE

My kid's friend came over this weekend, saw our YouTube algorithm on the TV and asked me "do you have one of them nerd brains?" So I guess I'm going to pass the question on to you guys. Do you have one of them nerd brains?

Josh LaBaw

Howdy Cohorts, Did Sarah ever critique Ben's wordrobe from the morning news appearances for the Mario movie? If so where do I see that? If not. Who can best channel their inner Sarah to do so now?

SlyCut

Hello all, You've discovered a cheat menu for real life. You've narrowed the options to only two cheats and you can only activate one of them. Which do you activate? Give me $100,000 (one time, or $1,000,000 if that makes the question more interesting) No fall damage

Geebeesee

Have you had a “perfect gaming day” recently? One of those days that makes you think “this is why I love video games”.

MrButtons

When a video game adaptation is your first introduction to a franchise or IP, do you usually check out the movies, shows, or books beforehand, or only explore the wider franchise if you love the game?

Caleb Sorenson

Yoshi and The Mysterious Book as a name felt weirdly ominous to me for some reason, like what makes this book so mysterious, who has it trapped within it's pages. But this made me think what traditionally cozy or family games would make a good horror spinoff, or what horror game series could make a good cozy game. A Silent Hill city builder where you make the town nice, Pokemon Snap but the safari goes off the rails and the Pokemon want revenge.

SlyCut

Hello all, In Jurassic park, when Gennaro runs to the bathroom and Malcolm answers Grant, "When you gotta go, you gotta go," and they then see the t-rex escape her paddock, Malcolm says, "Boy, do I hate being right all the time." Malcolm is talking about how he predicted something like the t-rex escape would happen, right? But for over thirty years, ever since I was a kid, I thought he meant he was right about when you gotta go, you gotta go and that he was saying he just wet himself. It just hit me what he actually meant when I watched it again with my kids for the first time. Have you ever had a long lived misunderstanding of something like that?

David Dubs

Hey Gang, much can be said about Destiny 2 dying and why it got there. This got me thinking though - how long should a live service game realistically run? Destiny 2’s need for constant updates seemed to have gotten in the way of any sequel development of Destiny 3. Does the constant need for growth hamper the long term needs for a studio?

FinalSin

Hey all, when you see a color, what's it's flavor?

Maximilian Mackinnon

Are there any big franchises left from the 90s that havent recieved some kind of remaster/remake?

Christopher Foster

I saw a bunch of reviews recently complaining about how the podcast has taken a stance on the current political climate around the world and in the US. As someone who appreciates the stance MinnMax has taken on specific topics and listens, to an extent, specifically because of it, how much do these reviews weigh on the choices you make as a podcast network?

Sam Kennedy

What's the best possible flavor of Doritos that we haven't invented yet?

Dominic Cichocki

Hello MixxManers, Is our current thinking of console generations as useful as it could be? As I dive more into the early 360/PS3 games I missed as a kid, the more the '05-'08 era of games feels like a microgeneration onto itself. Some of it might be the changes that came with the recession, but Assassin's Creed to II is a great example - the first AC resembles modern games but is weirdly ambitious and stylish in ways that would not be thought about now. The same with The Darkness, Mercenaries 2, or Tomb Raider: Underworld to shout out some others I've played. What do y'all think?

RTz13

Following up on the discussion about devs taking a year break. As a patient gamer without Gamepass, you would just became a gamer like us! I have a huge backlog of Deepest Dives on games I'm planning to experience in the future. You would have the opportunity to swap gems with the crew, finish up old games like JeffM Red Dead 2, Ben Elden Ring, etc. Also, as the devs are not developing, you would get the chance to visit as many as possible for interviews! Which teams would you visit, and who would you bring along from the crew?

mapleviolet

it was asked last week what games from this year would be nominated for GOTY at the game awards, but I'm more interested to know the games the cohorts have played that they expect to have in their top 10s at the end of the year, and what games from this year so far you think will make the two tens? (Is it time for the bonus pod where the community proposes hidden gems from this year?)

Arturo Perez

Hi MinnMax! What does you grocery list look like? any fun additions in the past few months? Take careee ps. I swear I'm not just collecting data😂

Travis in Fargo

Do you think the Pope speaking out against AI, and comparing it to the biblical Tower of Babel, will have any tangible impact or softening effect on the advancement of AI in tech industries or culture?

ChickenHarm

Been playing the Google Play version of Sea of Stars and enjoying it very much. Sometimes the app times out and you can lose your progress, which can be frustrating. But when I boot up the game I really enjoy seeing the title screen before I start a play session. I feel like this is a lost part of modern gaming, at least for me. Usually I'm playing a single game for weeks or months at a time on my Switch. Since I never turn the device off, I never see the title screen for the game. Would love to hear your thoughts on this, and if you have any favorite title screens that come to mind?

WeGoGiant

With the Japan talk there's been a lot of mentions of the Muscle Girls Cafe, and of course there are cat cafes, maid cafes, you name it. Basically anything out of the ordinary could have a cafe where inside, that thing is just normal. My question is, if you could make any cafe you wanted, what unusual thing would you base it on?

Jeff Britton

What's your favorite story or narrative from a wholly optional side quest?

Juniper Cain

Hi Minnmax! I was surprised last episode to hear that Kelsey hadn't played Crosscode. I associate her as the 'JRPG fan' on the pod, so without really thinking about it, just kind of assumed she'd have played one in the genre I'd heard good things about. What game that you've never played, do people most often assume you must have because of your public-facing interests?

Chuck Zich

Hi Minnmax, do you think there are too many multiplayer and live multiplayer games in the market based on how many people play those types of games? I see high quality , high budget games like Marathon that just don't seem to be holding players and wondering why. The obvious answer to me is the market is saturated and there are too many choices and many of those choices require heavy time investments to stay relevant so its tough to bounce between games. What's the long term solution in your eyes?

aaaChandler

In Suriel's heart does he feel like a founding member of minnmax or is it just something he did for a while? In other words does he think about minnmax more or less often than advance wars?

Limp Bizquick

Hey Minnmax! I'm a sucker for fomo/a chronic late-adopter. With Destiny development drawing to a close, I can't help but feel like I missed out on a cultural moment (can you call it a "moment" if it's been over a decade). What're some pieces of media/cultural moments you missed the boat on?

Mahmoud Hakim

Hey MinnMaxer’s! Following from a discussion about game journalistic integrity a week or two ago, what do you think is the difference between reviewing a game as a cultural piece/ art piece versus reviewing it as a product? Do you think there’s an inherent difference? What’s the purpose of reviews in either case?

Mike Lynch

What are your thoughts on fan meet and greets? I like it as an opportunity for lower rung celebrities to make money. But, my god, does my social anxiety flare up at the thought of being at either end of that transaction.

Fancygraham

Am I nuts, but is there a question of the week out there where the person claimed someone stole footage of someone else figure skating across rooftops? Respectfully, I need a follow up.

Fancygraham

What’s the most underrated iconic sound effect in gaming? Halo’s shield regen comes to mind for me. Or maybe the beep when you select parts in VATS in Fallout?

Russell

What’s your favorite James Bond title song? Lounge jazz trumpets and Tom Jones’ lush baritone crooning “Thunderball,” Norwegian synth-pop sensation A-ha’s “The Living Daylights.” or the punchy grunge guitar-led “You Know My Name” by Chris Cornell? Shirley Bassey’s “Goldfinger” or Shirley Manson’s “The World is Not Enough?” Maybe an obscure pick, like Radiohead’s rejected theme for “Spectre?” Thanks for all you do, making the world better and more fun.

Manuel T

The 90s and 00s where filled with (mainly bad) movie tie-in games. Now we have AAA games like 007. It got me thinking: what movie franchise deserves the prestige video game treatment and hasn't had it yet?

p9xm

Memorial Day was a nice bonus day off for us Americans. I spent it sleeping in, going to the gym during daylight, and going for a walk to get dinner with my partner. What's your go-to day off activity?

Aging_Poorly

Hey crew, all else equal, what’s the best swag to get from an event or convention? It’s mugs, right?

Tess

Hey MinnMax! Has anyone read Dungeon Crawler Carl? I just finished the new book, and its so good. I'm surprised how little I hear about the series in gaming spaces compared to how seemingly popular it is.

violapog

Question for the Leo//Winners (and I guess that other show). How do you balance wanting Minnmax to be accessible to a wide audience, while also being able to explore more niche ideas, opinions, or bits that can potentially turn off some viewers?

Max Malavenda

If you could have one Bond gadget what would it be? Also, should James Bond be allowed to do all that?

Dalien

Do you ever find yourself wanting to play older games and loose interest in stuff coming out now? If so, do you find yourself replay favorites for the sweet nostalgia or checking out games you missed in older generations. I know your jobs make that a pretty unsustainable way to play, but lately I've been re-living the 3DS library since I never owned one until recently and I couldn't be bothered to turn on my PS5

Elz

Hello and much love! What’s the most delicious enemy in a video game? Is it the dragon quest slime? Maybe the robots in Pragmata are tasty under their hard shells?

Nathan

What’s your favorite video game sword?

Graham Jones

Are gaming rumors better when the company they are about comment on them or don't?

Graham Jones

For naming remake games, do you prefer the regular game name followed by 'remake' or the punny names like 'campaign evolved' or 'resynced'? Do you think the type of name the studio uses denotes how much they are changing the game?

Spicy Egg

Hi all, What is a gimmicky feature in games/consoles/tech that you got used to or found unimpressive, but blew someone else’s mind when they saw you use it? For example: I turned on the Wii U to show a friend Super Mario 3D World because his daughter likes cats and I was trying to pitch getting it for her Switch (first console for them all), and when I blew into the gamepad microphone to move a block in one of the Captain Toad levels on the TV he was so shocked he couldn’t speak. Like witnessing alien technology.

Daniel Slawson

With the talk of Mina and the interesting mechanic where you have to charge the heal by attacking to make it more effective. I was thinking how much I love little novel ideas like this and it had me wondering about others. Something that usually has a fun diagetic logic or that leads to interesting risk reward decisions. Are there any examples the cohorts remember really enjoying? A couple I love are: 1. In Mirrors Edge L1 (the higher button on a controller) is for up actions like jump and and low actions like crouch are on L2 (the lower button) and if you want to tuck jump you combine them and press L2 while in the air. 2. In the Banner Saga the health stat is both HP and the attack stat, hurting someone reduces their attacking ability, I'd never seen that before. Have a good one and bring on the Summer Game Festivities! Dan Slawson

Axel Jrpg

If you could be a cameo npc in any game/franchise which would you choose and what would your purpose be (Ben the merchant, JeffM the informant, etc)

Josh M

Hey all, with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book launching, where it's kind of a platformer and kind of not (which has been fresh and unique to me, but definitely isn't for everyone), what's the best game that defies or reinvents a genre?

D M

You buy a snack at the store and the cashier hands you a receipt. As you leave the store, the wind blows the receipt out of your hand. you lean over to pick up the receipt, and it blows away further. How long do you chase after the receipt before giving up? Are you littering?

Chris Gillar

Howdy y’all, in honor of the prize this week: what’s your favorite slime in media?

Clayton Dexter

What is your favorite game you haven’t played yet?

Neil Brown

What's the pettiest or smallest reason you've stopped playing a game?

Luis

When listening to a popular audio program, is it proper etiquette to dress in evening wear, or is lounge attire acceptable if the parlor door is closed?

Brian Lyness

Hey folks, What has been your biggest false hope in gaming? One that's up there for me was Konami killing the chance of PT being fully realised into Silent Hills. I adored that demo, literally one of the best games I played that year. It was a bit of gut punch when the news came out about the fallout with Konami + Kojima then the cancellation of the game.

Brett N

G'day Minnmaxers, Forza Horizon 6 launched recently to positive reviews and strong sales (Nealy 5 million units) it got me thinking, is this the most successful "spin-off" in gaming history? Also would it be nuts to say its now XBOXs biggest franchise (excluding those they bought up in the actiblizzard deal)?

Julie

Hi all, simple question: What's the most embarrassing song on your workout playlist?

Josh Lamm

What are your favorite non-Zelda Zelda games?

Waves

A benevolent genie gives you 200 USD with the caveat that you MUST not do anything practical with it. What are you doing? Me? I would buy 4,000 bouncy balls (which is the most I could find for $200) and let them all loose at once!

Memory Card

What's the smallest thing you've played as in a game? What's the biggest? (Which would win in a fight?)

L Stockler

Hello! Who among the cohorts and minnmax's extended family is more likely to be a spy/secret agent?

Muse of Salzburg

Do you think stakes in video games have a floor? How far can the difference in outcome between a success and failure state be minimised while still retaining player investment and interest?

Shawn Mills

If you could choose only one would you rather have an interview with your great-great-great grandparents or your great-great-great grandchildren?

Steve Bellegarde

Hey MinnMax. Even though I never liked Destiny, as a Halo era Bungie fan, I’m sad to see it end so abruptly. What makes me sadder is that someday destiny will just be unplayable and over 11 years of Bungie history will just be gone. Do you think Destiny will have a long legacy like Halo?

Grizzled Gaming

Hey, gang! No question, I just wanted to say it's nice to have Suriel back. It's fun to see the OG four together again on a podcast.

Jack Seage

Ahoy hoy, everybody! If I asked 100 people family feud style to name an iconic Shakespeare play, what do you think the top 5 would be?

matteo

I have a problem. I am a chronic completionist. I often don’t want to move on from a game, even though there are so many others I know I’d love way more if I finally tried them. Are any of you recovered from this shameful life? How do you decide when it’s time to leave a game behind? P.S. Curse you JeffM for putting me on to Cauldron last year!

YalkYalk

Hi MinnMax, long time commenter first time listener, what franchise that has not had one already would be your dream pick for a fighting game? If you want you can pick a dream crossover fighting game as well. (I'm definitely not asking this question because Suriel is on this week)

RedMption

Do you guys ever check out live theatre at all, or have a favourite play? I've been making a habit of seeing any production of 'Once' that is put on in my area.

LlorchDurden

Ben "screaming" is one of the peak moments of the year!!

LlorchDurden

Crew! Are there any other 007 games you love? Back on N64/GC gen 007 games were happening way more often (the movies were doing waay better too) Personally 007 Everything or Nothing is SO good and nobody will remake it, it even has a GBA version for Janet to check! Below all 007 games, last one before First Light was 007 Legends, 2012, 4/10 from Game Informer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Bond_in_video_games

George Perry

Howdy gang! Has anyone had a chance to see Obsession yet? And if so, what did y'all think? I saw it last Wednesday and it blew me away - especially the lead actresses performance.

GreenMountainState

Hey MinnMax, I am struggling a bit to understand the mismanagement of studio acquisitions. We've talked about the Xbox ones quite a bit, but now Sony seems to have its own streak going with how things have played out for Bungie. What do you think the disconnect is with these studio purchases, what expectations must have been, and how things can go so south? It seems odd to pay 3+ billion for a studio and then ice it's major IP. Certainly they'll do something with the Destiny IP right? RIGHT?! I just wanted to pay my respect to destiny as well. I've been tuning in and keeping up since D1, over a decade ago. It always had its ups and downs but I found the gameplay to always be engaging and a lot of the smaller stories to be really interesting and fun. Those high highs were also some of the best moments in gaming for me. I'll see you starside Guardians!

bizkiut (Nick S.)

Alright. It's time to settle the great Midwestern debate. Ketchup or Ranch?

elrob

quick question... what are each of you typically doing with your hands during a podcast episode?

Josh Lamm

My daughter is 3 years old and we went to go see The Mandalorian and Grogu this past weekend. She can handle a lot, but this one was right on the verge of what she can tolerate. She loved it in the end, though. It got me thinking, for those of you who are parents of young kids, what movie are you most excited for your kid to finally see for the first time once they are old enough? It's a toss-up between Empire and Jurassic Park for me. This can be a hypothetical for those of you who aren't parents of young kids.

MyNameIsDan

Hey Ben, Mind sharing some of your feelings on Survivor season 50 now that it is over, and how you feel about the "Open Era"? Thanks, Dan

Sam Chery

Hi Ben and the CLCs, This question is mostly for Janet, but with all the big developers chasing a hit live service game, why aren't they leveraging shifting annual sports games to this model? The developers make a "new" game every year with actual improvements coming every 3-5 years. Why not make one game and support it for 3-5 years? Thanks, Sam, from MA

matteo

Who looks more off-putting—the new Starfox, or the new Hero from Dragon Quest XII?

giuliano

If you were an appetizer, what appetizer would best describe who you are, and why?

resnet

Hi MinnMax. What's the worst bite you've ever received (from an insect, a wild animal or perhaps even a person)?

CJ W.

Hey MinnMax! Something I find myself thinking about are games that popularized or created certain mechanics, and what the world video games look like without those games? Examples: How would third-person shooters have evolved without Gears of War and the cover system? Do we get environmental destruction in Battlefield if it was never featured in Red Faction? I know there are other better examples but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Greg Starling

Hey Minnmaxxanistas, I currently have a couple weeks off for medical leave after brain surgery (MoyaMoya) and I’m finally finishing the Digimon Cyber Sleuth duology. Have there been any games that sat in your backlog and then became favorites once you actually play them.
