Greetings from Kansas City! With the recent news of Sony not being at E3, I wanted to see what the panel's thoughts were. While I think E3 has some issues and companies are doing things their own way (such as State of Play) I was a bit surprised Sony decided not to participate in the year they're launching the PS5. The marketing nerd in me says they are making a massive mistake, as this is the biggest way to attract mainstream media attention to games. Another factor is MS will be at E3, so from that standpoint it just seems like a mistake to not participate. Is this reminding anyone of the Sony post PS2 going into PS3? Are they resting on their laurels from this gen too much or do you agree with the decision? Thanks, Jared Barzee

Also, am I the only one that's incredibly frustrated by the constant time wasting that Game Freak makes players wade through in mainline Pokemon games? In Sword/Shield for example doing a max raid battle takes _forever_ before you even get to choose an attack. Another example would be the box system... it's great they let you access it from anywhere now but *good grief* is it an awful user experience. How in 2019 was there still no way to filter by type or perhaps assign boxes a type so they automatically show you matching Pokemon?

Listening to the Hayao Miyazaki pitch got me thinking about how we all seem to have one game idea that’s always being tweaked in the back of our mind. For me the idea is basically Pokemon except trained creatures can also be caught, creating Nemesis-like situations where NPCs hunt you down to reclaim their creatures and vice versa. I know it’ll never be made but it’s a fun thought experiment. What’s your game idea that you think about most?

I've seen several games journalists and commentators saying Cyberpunk 2077 is one of their most anticipated games of 2020. While I really enjoy the genre and thought the demo shown last year was compelling, I cannot in good conscience buy the game given CD Projekt Red's very poor labor practices. It's actually a little frustrating to hear the breathless coverage of Cyberpunk 2077 from outlets while ignoring the conditions workers went through to produce the game. What is the view of y'all about the situation? Also, what circumstances around a games development would cause you to avoid playing it, regardless of the quality of the title?

Ive been wondering a lot recently what people from 100 years ago (1920) would think about what our lives today. If someone from 1920 was teleported to today what do you think their reaction would be to video games? Would they be amazed at how impressive they look or horified to see people strapping screens to their eyeballs for VR?

Recently I met the husband of my wife’s childhood friend at their house and it was super awkward... Until I noticed he had a whole shelf of Switch games and found out he apparently used to work at GameStop. It turned out to be a lot of fun chatting games while the ladies got caught up. While I find video games are a very awkward topic with non-gamers, it can also unite us as well.

What is the first game that you remember finishing or beating? I think mine was the original Legend of Zelda. It brings back a lot of pleasant memories for me as my parents and I would play it together--me actually handling the controller and playing, them couch coaching (all with a little help from hint books). This arrangement actually extended to ALttP, too.

After watching love, death and robots i couldn't stop thinking how good Sonnies edge would Make an awesome game. It helped that the character artist for sonnies edge, Cedric Peyravernay, was the same one who worked on Arkane studious games. Anyway this lead to me fantasizing about all the mechanics and story possibilities that could be made from this small story. It would be my perfect game. A Kaiju creation fighting game meets dishonored. Have you ever fantasized about a game from any media or other that doesn't exist. What would be your perfect games? what mechanics would they have to scratch your itch.

Hey Cohortions! Similair to the Holden Molden question from last week about individual taste in Games. I have a similair one but about story. I'll frame it by saying my answer is anything that boils down to Kids VS Evil. Obvious examples being "It", Stranger Things, The Goonies, or recently on Netflix The Dragon Prince. Hello MinnMax crew. Thanks for all the content. Based off what we know and what we can speculate, if you had to choose only one console for next gen, what would it be? Considerations and rules: -potential hardware/power/VR/etc -programs such as game pass -you can’t play console games on PC or stadia -your friends will play on the same system -*most important* potential exclusive games. (The thought of a new Fable makes me want to go with Xbox) -Rob from NY Ps I did ask this already. Hope that’s cool.

Howdy Cohorts, Recently Nintendo and Sony sent out everyone's 2019 most played games on their respective systems. As we are in the prediction season, what would you all predict are you top three most played games across any system for 2020? I think it would be fun to look back and see what you actually ended up playing compared to your predictions especially with surprise releases. Last year around this time I wouldn't have guessed I'd put 165 hours into a Tetris game, but then Nintendo dropped Tetris 99 in February. My personal guess is Animal Crossing, having almost 3/4 of a year to play probably about 30 minutes a day on average that's gotta take the cake...especially if my sister (who I can definitely beat in basketball) plays as well. Hey max stats, The people at Digital Foundry recently discussed the news of how all series X games for the next 1-2 years will run on xbox one and one X. They felt as though new generation games for xbox might be held back by the fact that they will also have to be able to run on old hardware. If new games are truly held back by this, wouldn't it make sense to hold out for the next xbox series? We may even see the new xbox series right after that 2-year mark. Hey howdy hey Ben and those computer lovin’ cohorts, If you could make one book series into an excellent video game, which would you choose? What type of game would you want for your adaptation? For me, the Princess of Mars series (that bad Disney John Carter movie was based on that book) is the one I think would lend itself very well to a video game. Hey Ben and his binary buddies, Recently I was playing Death Stranding and in a wave of confusion, looked to the Death Stranding wiki to remind myself of an early story beat that happened in the opening chapter. What I found, in the FIRST SENTENCE on the main page, was a major spoiler that occurs in the final 15 minutes of the game. I was in the final chapter of the game at that point and managed to avoid all spoilers up until then and felt defeated. Granted maybe I shouldn't have sought out that info until the very end, but they could have atleast used spoiler tags or something. My question is: "what piece of media did you have spoiled for you that truly hurt your soul? " Ps. I'm still very confused about Death Stranding Thanks, Alex E

Sony has bailed on E3 for a second straight year and heading into a new generation of consoles. I don't know if I see them returning at this point do you? It seems a lot of the media are ready to be done with E3 and I don't know if fans really need it either. Do you think the industry still needs these industry events? If MinnMax could build their own event what would it look like?

Hey MinnMax crew. How often do you change your phone's ringtone and notification sound, and what's your current ringtone? I used to change mine quite often, but since I almost always have my phone on silent these days, I only ever hear it when I'm playing music or a podcast through a speaker or earbuds and someone calls, and therefore don't think about it much. (It's currently the theme song for Bojack Horseman for ringtone, and lightsaber on noise for notifications)

Evening cohorts, What is an internet rabbit hole you've gone down recently, whether it be wikipedia deep dives, following youtube recommended videos until you don't remember where you started, odd twitter accounts, etc? For me, on a whim, I recently looked up the wikipedia article for the "laugh track" and found an intensely detailed article on the history of why it started, how it evolved, competitors getting in on the action, how cartoons ended up getting laugh tracks, and why it died out. I spent about 2 hours reading it and related articles and found myself thoroughly entertained and informed, but also thinking "how did I get here?"
