Hey friends! Hypothetically using your Patreon money as a budget, what kind of game would you want to make? What kind of game could you make?

Andres Martin

With The Last of Us 2 coming out this year Ellie will be one of the only fully gay main player characters I can think of in a AAA game. This got me thinking of the backgrounds of main characters in AAA games in general. What are some character backgrounds you all would like to explore? Personally I'd love to play a game as a Native American and explore that culture and history. Assassin's Creed 3 sort of did this but was focused on the civil war aspect more then the Native American stuff. Ideally I would want it to take place before Europeans show up to really keep the focus on that setting.

Jon Mickelson

Hello Ben and Friennds (two ‘n’s)! Last week I beat Bloodborne for the first time. I picked it up at launch and really enjoyed it but just bounced off after a certain point. I didn’t play it again until last month at a friend’s recommendation, finishing the game nearly five years after I started. My question for you all is, what games did you take the longest break from after starting before going back and finishing? Why did you stop playing in the first place? What brought you back? Love what you guys do, always excited to see the alert on my phone when you’ve posted something new! P.S. Jeff, don’t feel bad, I haven’t finished Red Dead Redemption 2 either.

Ben Cooper

Hello Ben and the cohorts from Ben! So I find it fascinating how people keep saying CD Projekt Red can't do wrong in the game department with only one super popular game under their belt out of three. The Witcher one and two I found to be fun games but they did not sell well and people hated the gameplay in the first (they had to release an enhanced edition to make it actually playable). Just find it interesting how everyone is convinced that they can't go wrong with their next game. I'm excited for it also but I won't say it's the best game ever made before it's even released.

Victor Pham

How do you weigh the community's interests versus the interests of the core four of MinnMax? Have you guys felt compelled to create certain kinds of content because the community wanted it but not necessarily what you guys wanted?

Bdun912

What is the one thing/opportunity you said no to, personally or professionally, that you wish you had said yes to?

FlaminQueso

Dear computer and the Cohort loving Bens, Admittedly immature, yet always entertaining, many video games feature this. Whether in a jar in the form of a grenade, or available as a prompt as a way to interact with the village folk, there are many ways this has been heard, seen, and smelled across games. So I pose this question to you four grown and mature adults: What is your favorite fart in a video game? Thanks, Queso

Brian Brown

Hey Ben and crew! Recently I just played the Kingdom Hearts III DLC and was extremely disappointed in the fact that this series STILL has not wrapped up this story after so long and somehow is creating more questions than answers in its recent entries. I think that my enjoyment of a series that I once loved more than anything else is starting to wane. My question for you all is, has an entry in a franchise ever been bad enough or disappointing enough that it killed your love and enjoyment of that franchise? Brian Brown from St. Louis, MO

Clint Farley

What are some of your favorite gaming accomplishments? Was there a boss/level in a game that took you a while to overcome, and when you did, how excited were you? I have two which are the Trials of Archimedes in God of War Ascension on Hard before they patched it, and getting the platinum in Dead Space 2 which had a trophy that required you to beat it on the hardest mode using only 3 saves and no checkpoints (that was actually easier than I expected, but the planning phase for those saves was fun, as well as the overall execution).

Brian Keese Jr

Hey there, Ben and crew! When Ben mentioned on this week's MinnFaqs that he'd never watched an Episode of Stranger Things it made me think of what holes I have in my own pop cultural backlog. I was wondering what each host feels like the biggest gap is in their TV, Film, and Video Game background. For me it would probably be The Wire, The Godfather, and The Mass Effect Trilogy. Thanks, I'll take my answer off the air.

Juan Cabrera

When is Kyle dropping Zelda timeline or breakdown videos?

Tim Lorow

Lately I’ve been watching the show “My 600lb Life” which has me thinking a lot about addiction. It must be so hard to be unable to stop doing something that is clearly destructive. Also I’ve learned that addicts are usually enabled by someone in their life who usually have their own issues. Have you or someone close ever dealt with addiction? Are you ever concerned about enabling community members who have gaming addictions? I personally think you have done well to be enthusiastic about gaming while being examples of how a healthy relationship with gaming should look.

Patrick Polk

Hey everyone! I am one of those old people who still prefers physical media. Also I like good looking typography. I was looking at my Switch games the other day and I realized that the only one I own with stylized typeface on the spine is . . . Super Bomberman R??? That game kinda sucks! Why does such a mediocre game get such special treatment? If only there were a recurring segment on the show to inform me about interesting aspects of otherwise unremarkable games. Dear Minnxes, If your life was an RPG. What is the next skill in your upgrade tree that you will unlock? Or hope to unlock? PS thanks for everything. You guys are the best. Keep it up 💪

Grant Campbell

Hello, Cohorts! I’ve recently found myself getting into Ubisoft’s 2014 release, Rocksmith. It’s an easy, fun way for me to practice playing bass at my desk, and it’s reinvigorated my love for playing! I appreciate when games are able to make something that requires real world knowledge a little more accessible. The Zachtronics games come to mind as a great example of this. Have any of you ever had an experience with a game that has made you interested in something in the real world that you wouldn’t have known about otherwise? Love the content, Grant

Super_DAC

Yo MinnMax. With the release of Animal Crossing New Horizons drawing nearer I have been scrambling to come up with a town name so I don’t have to spend time doing it on release day. How do you guys normally name people, places, or things in games?

IanTClark

Well hello there my fun loving cohorts. I am a fully grown adult with a respectable career and modest income. I have the privilege of owning all current gen platforms as well as a capable gaming PC. What a time to be alive! Anyways, if you could only choose one platform to play on, what would it be? Me personally, it would be the Nintendo Switch. What say you?

RAWKPARTEE

Dear handsome and cohorts, my question this week is about stadia, the question, what’s going on with it? The only thing I’ve heard is Jeff g. From giant bomb give a monthly update about how many of the people that added him are online, the answer is usually a couple. Is google just going to spend years running around like John mc lane in diehard after walking through broken glass hoping against hope somehow things pick up, or will they try a relaunch later in the year, maybe rebrand, or will they sell it off or try to retire?

The Jacques

Hello friends, What's the best made game you've ever played? Games that just felt like they were built well and ran well. Mine is a tie between Doom 2016 or Titanfall 2.

Christopher Reardon

Hey Benn and cohorts and welcome Jack! In honor of Anna Howard Shaw Day, what public figures inspire you to do so much good in your communities?

Tim Conlon

Support much?- Hanson, could you do your breathless rendition of everyone that posted a comment, question or whatever for the podcast on the Patreon- to give everyone a little love? Thanks and keep up the great work!

Wes Bates

Hey MinnMax Crew, I have a question that is inspired by something Andy McNamara brought up on the GI Show a few weeks ago. If aliens landed on earth and specifically sought out MinnMax to show them the 3 games that best represented what human video games are, which 3 games would you show them? You can give individual choices or come up with a list as a group but these 3 games will represent this medium to the rest of the galaxy so keep that in mind. Would love to know what you’d pick. Keep up the great work. Wes Bates Woodland, CA

Wes Bates

Hey MinnMax Crew, Last week Yarrow was inquiring about a good sci-fi RPG to follow up on Chrono Trigger. I wanted to suggest checking out Cosmic Star Heroine by Zeboyd Games. It’s an awesome, Galaxy Hopping, Sci-Fi RPG with a great cast of characters, beautiful 16-bit pixel art graphical style, a great OST and a battle system that’s actually very reminiscent to Chrono Trigger. It’s also relatively short (about 15 hours or so) and is available on multiple platforms. Check it out! Wes Bates Woodland, CA

Wes Bates

Hey MinnMax Crew, Simple question – what game has your favorite UI or HUD and how would you like to see games utilize their UI/HUD differently than the standard, boring life bar, ammo count or mini-map? Thanks and stay awesome! Wes Bates Woodland, CA

Wes Bates

Hey MinnMax Crew, I had an idea for a way to make the show better. I think it would be really cool to give a weekly shout out on the podcast to a different community member who regularly contributes to MinnMax in a positive way through either their actions or words. It could be somebody who always gives good, constructive feedback or somebody who always helps new members to the Discord or anything in between. I know you have a supporter tier set to give acknowledgement to folks to who support the show monetarily and I think that’s great but it might be cool to give a little additional show of thanks every week to folks who regularly build up the community and the MinnMax culture on the whole in other ways. I know that's something that I would appreciate anyways. Thanks for considering my suggestion. Wes Bates Woodland, CA

Mark Garcia

Hey Ben and Crew, A real quick question: what was the first game that each of you ever beat on your own, without needing any help, strategy guides, or cheat codes/game genies? How old were you when you got the game and how old were you when you beat it? Megaman II was the first game that I ever beat, but I got it when I was seven and it took me until I was nine or ten to master and beat it. Thanks! Mark Garcia Plano, TX

Guy Incognito

Hey CLCs, watching The Outsider on HBO. If you had to be in a world of a Stephen King horror freako, which one would you choose? I haven't picked one yet, but I'd go with one that won't eat me alive and would give me a quick death.

Abe Foster

Hey MinnMax team, I'm keen to hear your thoughts on the idea of emotional cognitive dissonance in video games music. Do you ever get the feeling when playing a game and listening to its music, of two feelings violently at war in your brain? Not simply ‘joy’ or ‘fear’ but contrasting compounds like ‘melancholic euphoria’ or ‘hopeful dread’? For me, it’s David Wise compositions and in particular, the Donkey Kong Country soundtracks. Tracks like Stickerbush Symphony, Forest Interlude and Seashore War take my breath away and leave me feeling emotionally drained, but somehow... in a good way? The post-launch music in Outer Wilds, and that which plays just before things go boom, also gave me this feeling, almost like I’m-finally-accepting-my-own-mortality: The Musical! Have you ever had these intense, mixed emotional responses to a piece of music from video games. If you could hazard a guess, what do you think caused it? Thank you for all your hard work - Abe in Reading, UK

Alistair Grant

Hey nice people, on your Feb 6th show you had a question from Geoffrey Jones...my grandfather was called the very same so this gave me a nice big smile whilst listening to the podcast when driving down to see the folks. I think if I were to meet this GJ I would feel warmer towards that person. This got me thinking, do you have any naming similarity quirks that have helped ice-break any social situations, foster immediate or deeper connections with people, or create a lasting link with a fictional characters. For example, my nickname is Ali, which has given me noticeably warmer reactions when I visit Turkish barbers around my city and the barbers (plural here) tell me about their friends called the same. Alistair, Glasgow, UK

Zack

Hey friends, Something I thought wasn't entirely clear last week: was Ana just a one-off guest? Was she there as part of the Hyperdot sponsorship because she works for the publisher? Or is she officially a new Cohort now, planning to join you on many more episodes and shows in the future? I'm hoping it's the latter, and if it is I definitely need to know: does she Love Computers? L&R, Zack

Cody Hester

Dear Two Ns, Has something most people wouldn't notice or think twice about ever bothered or disturbed you? I saw a movie with Martin Short and the girl from the Matilda film adaptation where a woman was magically turned flat. Other than being paper-thin, she wasn't hurt. She slipped through a crack in the floor or something and was gone. The thought of her living the rest of her life like that horrified me. I was a kid when I saw it, so that probably made a difference. Has anything freaked you out? Thank you and best wishes. Cody from West Des Moines, IA.

Fred Dinovo

Howdy, Best sitcom intro song? Answer: Brooklyn 99, but I’m open to your silver medals Thanks!

Brian Londergan

Hey machine-inclined maniacs, I've been fascinated by handedness my whole life. Are any of the crew left-handed? If so, how have you found your handedness has affected your gaming hobby? Personally, I recall the Wii era being the most difficult when playing with left-handed friends. Thanks!

Brady Easter

Hello people, Hope you all are having a fantastic week. (Jeff, how specifically is your week going?) Quick question just for fun: What movie or movie franchise would make you most excited if you learned it was actually a documentary series (i.e. everything in the movie(s) was real)? What about least excited? Thank you for all the amazing content and for creating such an awesome community. ~Brady E.

Adam H

Greetings Ben and the Whoopee Cushion Clan, What game were you most excited for as a young gamer, but ultimately never played? I loved Pilotwings for the SNES and must have read Nintendo Power's preview of Pilotwings 64 daily. However, by the time my bro and I saved enough money to purchase a N64, the game and console bundle was hard to find, along with Mario 64 being the obvious choice with a side of Goldeneye. Thank you all, Adam H

CANAS1AN

HI Minn Max Crew, I have a question for Suriel this week. There is a tool that shows you a heatmap of time spent in Destiny 1 or 2 for each day played. The tool is called Days with Destiny. Here is the URL: https://chrisfried.github.io/secret-scrublandeux/ It does prompt you to sign in with Bungie/Steam. I can't seem to include a picture of my heat map via Patreon, but if I could, you would see a super dark square on the release of the Taken King because I took that week off work to play. Would love to hear Suriel's insights into his heat map. Love the show! CANAS1AN from Gresham, OR.

Mike Vogt

Hello MinnMax! All your consoles, phones, and PC's are powered on, your game libraries are open, and you've got exactly 15 minutes of free time. What game do you play?

Adam W

Hey fellas, After working on the game for the last 2 years, I finally got out of the castle segment of RE 4! Resident Evil is one of my all time favorite franchises, despite the fact my first entry was RE5. I have since gone back and played every mainline entry, all I have left after RE4 is the OG RE3. What are some favorite game series of yours that you started late on and then decided to go and play the previous entries? Also 20K Patreon goal is a remake of “Ghost!” right? Stay awesome guys, can’t wait to see what’s next for MinnMax! Adam “Definitely From Texas” Walker

Robert Alessi

Hi Ben and crew What completely random, possibly embarrassing videos do you end up watching a bunch of? Recently I started watching “pop-lock” style dance video competitions. After about 10-12 videos I’m starting to question my sanity. Thanks Rob from NY

Duderado

Hello Benn and Friennds (two N's)! What game series do you want to see brought back from the dead that has absolutely no chance of ever being revived? I'd love to see the NFL tell Madden to screw off and allow 2k to bring their ESPN NFL 2k series back. 2k5 was such a pivotal multiplayer experience for me and has a ton of crazy features packed in that make modern sports games look shallow. You had a mansion to store your trophies and fun knickknacks like arcade machines. You could even get a phone call from Steve-O and play against his custom team. How cool is that??? Love you guys, keep up the fun content. P.s. Hanson is wrong about Pop-Tarts. Regards - Nick L

James Martin

When I think back to my old consoles I have certain games that I LOVED, but are basically never talked about or thought about or considered “Classics”, despite getting great critical reviews etc. Here are what I have as my one example for various consoles – do you guys have similar examples? SNES - Shadowrun Gameboy (Color or standard) - Cannon Fodder N64 – Shadowman (would LOVE a remake on this) Gamecube – Eternal Darkness / Starfox Adventures Playstation 1– Parasite Eve 2

umryan

What's your preferred spice level at your local CoCo Curry branch? -Ryan from Portland (also from the future)

betoq92 .

Whats up you CLCrs!? My question is have you ever submitted a question to a show/podcast and had it read on air? Was it the best part of your day? Mine was read on the GI show and me and my friend freaked out! (We had both been trying to get one read) anyway thanks keep up getting better!

William Garcia

Hello, Ben and the CLC's Like many people, I've used a simple note app on my phone for many years to jot down stuff when I need to make a list, have some ideas I want to follow up on, etc. I was clearing some of that stuff out and noticed I had some weird ones, presumably things I was writing but maybe got interrupted while writing, or maybe I was half asleep while writing it. For example, I have several notes that seem to be very bad jokes in a rough draft of a stand up routine (I am not a comedian), math equations (I think), and a note that says "carpal tunnel = caramel funnel." Any fun notes from days past that make you go, "What the heck?" Love you guys, keep up the great work! -Will in California

TJ Starman

Hey Hen Benson and the NnimXam Crew (pause for reaction) Here’s the scenario: you’ve got an N64 with Mario Party 2, MarioKart 64, and Super Smash Bro’s and 4 technicolor controllers. What 3 games industry professionals (directors, studio heads, voice actors, etc.) do you invite for a good old-fashioned game night? Thanks for all you do! - TJ

LaRay M. Hare

What’s up MinnMax (2 Ns)? I’m curious about what the panel thinks the next big trend of gaming is coming with the new generation. For example, Live Service games were the dominant new “genre” for console games (though they were already popular on PC). What’s the panel’s predictions for next generation as the next big thing? Alternatively, what features would be on the panel’s wishlist? -LaRay M. Hare

Jt

Hello MinnMax crew! The season of new beginnings is nearly upon us! What's the most dystopian idea you've seen a gaming company introduce? (ideas include Sony's "shout out an advertiser's name to stop an ad" patent, any of Nintendo's "use your body x way" initiatives, and the ever-obvious "pay-to-win" model) Best regards, Jt

Leafeonn (Josh K)

Heloo Miners! Have you ever played a game with unconventional controls? Watching kyle's metroid stream a few weeks back and seeing him play Chrono Trigger on his phone with the dualshock 4 reminded me of when I played all of Bioshock Infinite with the PlayStation Move. When it came out, i saw it was compatable, so i tried it out and realized it felt better than a standard controller. I also played inFamous 2 this way. Are there any times you've enjoyed a game in an unconventional way like mouse/keys or motion controls over a standard controller?

Felix davin

Ahoy almighty friends ! Now that there is a question of the week again, I'm putting my Question Of The Year title on the line for 2020. I plan to defend my belt, hopefully. Anyway, a simple one here : How long does it take from the moment you're home and thinking "I'd play a game for a bit, eh" and you actually playing the game, on the technical side ? For example, when i want to play on my PC, which is plugged to my bedroom tv, I have to crouch behind some furniture to turn a power switch on, wire the ethernet from an opposite wall to the pc, turn on the tv and computer, grab a controller in a drawer, grab a keyboard in the drawer to type my password, and finally I can play. That rounds up to around 2 minutes of fiddling around. How about you ?

Adam Lewis

I know you admire the EazyAllies guys but in the interest of making the show better....never, ever rap Ben Hanson! Maybe Jeff M.
