Hey Minnmax! I know you love what you do, but as content creators in this time do you feel like a stabilizing force for your listeners, with deeper connections developing from all of this shared uncertainty and worry? Do you ever feel more pressure now to create your content so it benefits others as much as possible? I don't know if people considered content creators to be integral the morale and health of a society going through a traumatic event, but I think it's obvious now they are!

Hey Ben and the CLCs, Activision recently announced the remaster of COD MW2 and it released on March 31 - but only on PS4. This remaster of a 10 year old game is not coming to Xbox or PC until April 30. Why are we still dealing with timed exclusive deals in 2020? I guess I can understand some timed content or DLC, but full games? And a remaster on top of that? It’s frustrating when companies like Microsoft and Nintendo are trying to knock down these arbitrary walls but yet publishers like Activision pulls this.

FlaminQueso

Hey Howdy Hey Hanson Lovin' Cohorts, When given the option in games like Mario Party, Mario Tennis, and Mario Kart how often do you play as the titular character? And why is the answer, "almost never"? Don't we all agree that we like Mario as a character and thoroughly enjoy games staring Mario? What is your theory behind this aversion being Mario when presented with the option to select from the supporting cast? Thanks! Queso

James Smith

Hanson, you didn't read my question last week you bastard! What are some tips from each of you for writing questions that appeal to you specifically, so that we can all better our chances of winning that sweet Question of the Week prize? Essentially, what do you all like from your podcast questions? Thanks for all the great content. Looking forward to Photomode Snap!

RickyWinterborn

playing post apocalyptic games is all of sudden different...especially in VR. when i first picked up calorie bar ration things in half life alyx it gave me goosebumps. weird to think we could get there in our life time...

Justin Hughes

Hello Ben and cohorts. Do you think Sony fought hard to get Half Life Alyx on Playstation VR? I feel like it would have been a major system seller for them. The major pay wall involved with being a pc exclusive could hinder their sales numbers, so do you think it will eventually come to PSVR?

RickyWinterborn

i really want a physical copy of ff7, what's my best bet to get it in these TRYING TIMES

derek m

hello everybody, with the final days of the PS4 upon us, and with the release of persona 5R, currently the 3 highest rated PS exclusives on metacritic are Last of us remastered, the aforementioned P5R, and God of War. my question is: do you think any of the upcoming PS exclusives have a chance of matching or topping those three before the PlayStation 5 releases?

Two Button Crew

Place your bets! Raise the stakes! Will the Mario games this year be remakes, remasters, or just port re-releases?

Roberto Zayas

Any stories of legendary culinary creativity (good and bad) during this pandemic? It could also be something you did before the pandemic. When I was in elementary school, a hurricane hit Puerto Rico, and I spent almost a whole month drinking a mix of 2/3 Welch Grape Juice, 1/3 Coca Cola, with a side of saltine crackers - delish!!!

Alex B

Hey, Ben and the Hanson's!What game franchise do you think would make a great fighting game, that hasn't been done yet?

austin nickelson

Hey minn Ben and the max lads! I was thinking how most games base their maps off of New York and Los Angeles and wanted to know what other cities would you like to see be created in a video game? Do you think there could be more variety when it comes to locations in video games?

Bob Buel

Howdy fellas, looking like a million bucks- Where do you consider the line is for a game to be considered "retro"? I know that this is a line that constantly is shifting with every new generation, but where would you draw the line in the sand for all games before it to be considered retro?

Hugo Aguilar

Hey Clcs, What’s one video game mechanic you can live without? For me is the ranking system in stylish action games. I’m not the best at pulling off combos so seeing a grade at the end of a level takes some enjoyment away for me. Looking at you stone ranking in Bayonetta. Anyway thanks for all the hard work!

Adam W

Hey guys, Simple question: What is a game you genuinely feel like you are very competent at? A game that you are proud of your skills in. Doesn’t need to be competitive, it could be playing single player games on ultra hard mode. Anyways, have a great week AWTR

Ahoy captain Hansen and the quarantine lovin crew; With the U of M shifting fully online, I've been having to find more ways of breaking up my studying and lectures and I've opted for keeping my PS Vita, or switch by my desk and breaking my study time up with 10 or 15 min at a crack of gaming to make it less monotonous and give my brain a break. My question being, what games would you recommend that are good for these short intervals of entertainment digestion? My go to games lately for this purpose have been Super metroid on my DS, super meat boy and animal crossing on switch, and castlevania SOTN on vita. What would you folks be playing? P.S. Going to the U of M for Mechanical Engineering in case you were curious. Been a mechanic for the past decade, and after spending a large portion of that time complaining about engineers, I figured it was time to put up or shut up.

Sincerly, Eric

Hey Ben and the Quarantinis! Where is the first place you're going when this is all done? On the topic of visiting Studios. What is something you've Seen that stands out to you. Something from Video Game History that they have that is cool, some..... Frappuccino Maker they had? Idk. Haha. Anything stand out?

Grizzled Gaming

Howdy Ben & CLCs, What is your favorite word? Mine is Onomatopoeia. It's just fun to say. HONK! CRASH! POW!

Sam Morrow

Good day Ben and those other guys! My question is this: which game world would you most like to be an NPC in? And what quest would you assign the hero? Please avoid weird alien sex stuff if you can.

Juan Cabrera

Hey Minnmax, Hope all are well and sufficiently supplied with TP. My question is for all the cohorts. If capcom was going to add an online feature in resistance, why not just go the left for dead model? People want more left for dead, and if we could use the RE engine in that type of gameplay that just sounds spectacular. Thanks! P.S. I just saw a butterfingers/FF7 crossover commercial. The hype is real sir.

Thom Blackburn

BABA-BOOEY MINNMAX! Do you want to hear something...SPoOoOoKY?! If yes, then buckle up buttheads! When I was a young one my little sister got a Bop-It toy. It was loud, plastic, battery powered and demonic. One night I had a friend sleeping over and we decided to take a break from playing cool-guy video games to mess with dumb toy Bop-It and it kept "bopping" after we were done playing with it. "Bop it," it demanded of us. Over and over again it yearned to be bopped! We had enough so I took the batteries out of it. ...and yet, it continued to demand a bopping in slower, deeper, raspier tones. My friend started to freak out that it was unkillable! "BOP IT, TWIST IT, PULL IT" it said, taunting us (quite demonically.) After a sleepless sleepover, the torture finally ended. Thom from Redmond, WA... But originally from (DUN DUN DUN) ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA!

Geoff Enright

Goooooooood Moooooorrrrrning Miiinneeesoootaaa! And hello, my nemesis JeffM spelled with a J. Some friends and I are going to have a virtual game night, but not all are gamer hobbyists. We're looking for easily accessible, lower complexity games to play. Think virtual form of cards against humanity or something completely different. The only game I have at the moment is Evil Apples, a free phone app like cards against humanity. Anything else you know about?

Andrew Burnes

Hey, guys. Last week, I played through a game I've been wanting to play for literally years. No it's not Breath of the Wild or Titanfall 2 or some other amazing game I should probably experience, it's PaRappa the Rapper, baby! It was finally on sale on the PS4 store and I scooped it up and played through it immediately. And after years of anticipation, I must say, I don't think I've ever been this underwhelmed. I instantly recalled an old Replay where Kato said over the objections of an obstinate Jeff Cork "This game is terrible" (you are now all obligated to do your best Kato impression as you read that line). My question is, which games have left you the most disappointed based on your hype level going in?

Tyler Carver

Hello fellas, I have been having an absolute blast with the community the last week or so, mainly through the discord of course, but I am a little perturbed. How much interaction is too much interaction and am I being annoying? But that’s not my question for you; When is the last time you had self loathing thoughts like these and what do you think is the correct response? I hope this finds you happy and healthy, Regards, Panda

David blessman

What is the smallest amount of time you guys ever replayed a game from originally beating it? What game? I’m currently on my 2nd play through of fire emblem 3 houses!

Dunder

Hey Ben and the CLCs, Create the ultimate Frankenstein game console! Choose your favorite console system (hardware), controller, library of games, and online services. You may only select 1 feature from each platform (can’t choose the DS4 controller and PS4 library, etc.) I would choose the Xbox One X hardware, the Xbox 360 controller, the N64 library of games, and the PS4 online services.

Travis Manick

What's a game you love from a genre you hate?

Forest Gerlach

Hello Benthony Hanson and the cohorts who may have strong yet complicated feelings about computers! This will probably sound silly, but over the past couple of years, I've been trying to practice mindfulness when playing games, taking occasional moments to slow down and appreciate something about the game. Sometimes it's a cool vista or environmental detail the artists put in; sometimes it's a moment within the game that surprises me or simply feels really well done. While these pauses have lengthened my play times in games by several hours, I've found myself appreciating and enjoying games more than ever as I try to soak in as much of them as I can. (this dopey pokeyness has also made me worse than I already was at multiplayer games, an accomplishment in itself, but that's besides the point) My question for all of you is this - do you have any mindful beliefs or habits while playing games that have deepened your appreciation and/or love for them? Thanks for being wonderful; I'm happy to finally be supporting the show through Patreon this month!!! :-)

Jeorin

Greetings MinnMax and the responsibly distant friends. My question, and I hope this hasn't been asked before, is what is your greatest video game accomplishment? It doesn't necessarily have to be a trophy or achievement, but if you could put it on your wall, what would be hanging with pride? It could be something challenging, or something that required great patience. Mine: Getting every achievement in the Megaman X Legacy Collection. X7 in particular, nearly broke me, but getting that final badge felt amazing. A close second would be firing an arrow in Thief: The Dark Project at a guard so distant, he was basically a blur. I led him by a good 3 or four feet and caught him square in the side of the head as he walked into the path of the arrow.

Morboxis

Hello Ben and Cohorts of Computational Love. Did you ever get to explore a place in a videogame you are familiar with in real life? The closest I ever got was visiting Florence years after playing Assassin's Creed II but, unfortunately, no games take place 'round here. I'm playing the Division 2 and keep thinking how cool it must be to play it if you know DC. Anyhows, stay safe you guys and give my congrats to Jeff for finishing Red Dead 2

Chris Cobb

Howdy Maxxers, Tomorrow morning you wake up, put on your slippers, grab a cup of coffee, and sit down to begin your day job as an indie developer. You've trained for this all your life, there's no limit to your unmatchable skills. You've hand-picked your dream team, picked the team size, budget, and dev schedule. Note-- I wrote this as a GI town assignment for the local game dev crew before realizing my mistake :facepalm What's your role? How big is the team? (1-3 = indie, 15-40 = AA, 100+ = AAA) What's your budget? (<$1m = indie, $10-20m = AA, $100-300m = AAA) What genre of game are you making? Here's a more detailed list of game dev roles for good measure: Designer: - level design - game systems design - character design - online / social systems design - UX design Art: - Concept Artist - Character Artist - Modeler - Rigger - Animator - Environment Artist - FX Artist Engineer: - Gameplay engineer - Tools engineer (make tools for designers to build content) - Game network engineer (client-server coding for your FPS) - Game platform engineer (matchmaking, game stats, friends, lobbys, factions, accounts, etc) - Web engineer (for internal tools, customer support, and your game website) Production: - Game director (you're the big boss calling the shots) - Producer (running a team working on features)

Hey Ben and the Maxketeers, How many copies of Resident Evil 4 do you own/have you played? I have a physical copy on PS2, a digital copy on PS3, and a physical copy on PS4, but my brother took it with him to Ukraine this year, and who knows when the heck I'm going to get it back. I also just bought it this week on Switch because I just got a Switch. Cool, right? So, altogether, that's four versions of Resident Evil 4. Can any of you beat that?

Fabled Ursa

With the recent events going on in the world around us, there have been a lot of buzzwords going around like “quarantine”. With Rainbow Six Quarantine set to release later this year, could you see this name negatively impacting sales, or might Ubisoft even consider changing the name of the game altogether?

Tim Lorow

Do you feel any pressure while under isolation to make the best of your time? I feel I have been fortunate so far, but there has been a nagging voice in my head that I should be using this time to exercise more, call my parents, read more books, learn a language... Should I give myself a break? I am still working from home

Ben Pilaczynski

Hey Minimus Maximizers! Hope everything is going well for everyone and everyone is staying safe and healthy. I’ve had the Chance recently to go back and play some backlogged games which brought me to Octopath Traveler and Chrono Trigger. That got me thinking, what are some games in your past that emotionally effected you? The part in Chrono where Robo gets beaten up by his own brother was so moving to me and pretty much everything from visuals and music to the story of Octopath has me in an emotional tailspin idk what I should be feeling! What are some games that have done that to you? Thanks and keep up the great work, Ben P.

Edgar Vazquez

What's the earliest you were sure of your GOTY and were right?

Scott Castro

Hey Ben, Kyle, Jeffum, and Suriel, Scott from Richmond, VA here! (WhiskyCokeNoIce on the Discord, and that’s “No Ice” not “Noice”) I’ve got a game for you! Based on your collective appreciation for both video games and The Simpsons, I give to you: “DLC / Expansion Pass Title or Simpsons Episode Name.” The game is simple, I’ll provide a title. You tell me if that is the title of a DLC or expansion content (such as “The City that Never Sleeps” from Insomniac’s “Spiderman” or “Black Arrow,” an expansion to Rainbow Six 3) OR the title of a Simpsons episode. EXTRA POINTS: If the title is a DLC or expansion, what was the base game? If it is the title of the Simpsons episode, what was the plot of said episode? Thank you all for creating such great content and cultivating such a positive and welcoming community in an otherwise bleak time! Ready? Ok! Title: “Old Money” – This is a Simpsons episode. In the episode, Grampa Simpson meets an old woman at the Retirement Castle, who passes away and leaves him with $106,000. He heads for a casino to try to make more money, but is stopped by Homer, so he decides to spend the inheritance money on renovating the retirement home instead. (Not to be confused with “Dead Money, which was DLC for Fallout: New Vegas.”) Title: “Island Thunder” – This is a DLC pack for the original Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon. Title: “Bonfire of the Vanities” – This is DLC for Assassin’s Creed II. There is a Simpson’s episode titled, “Bonfire of the Manatees.” Title: “Whacking Day” - This is a Simpsons episode. The episode revolves around the fictional holiday "Whacking Day", celebrated annually, in which the citizens of Springfield drive snakes into the town square, then fatally club them. Title, “Guns, Love, and Tentacles” – This is a very recent Borderlands 3 DLC release. Sounds like a Simpson’s episode though, doesn’t it? Title, “Mountain of Madness” – This is a Simpsons episode. In the episode, Mr. Burns forces the workers of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant to go for a team-building hike in the mountains. Burns and Homer are paired together and trapped in a cabin that gets buried by several avalanches. (There is apparently a DLC pack of the rouge-like game “Eldritch” called “Mountains of Madness.” Similar, but different.) Title, “The Trouble with Trillions” – This is a Simpsons episode. The episode sees Homer being sent by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to try to obtain a trillion dollar bill that Mr. Burns failed to deliver to Europe during the post-war era. Title, “The Path Home.” This is DLC for Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

DarkFishDays

Hey guys! Thanks for keeping the show going during these strange times. Your content has been an essential distraction. Anyway, you guys have mentioned that some times you play multiple games at the same time. Not literally of course...you know what I mean. What has been a memorable game combo? For example I just finished Celeste and when I needed a break I’d start up Ape Out. Both games have a similar die and repeat feel but are a good yin yang with one being chill and hard and the other being hyper violent and easier. Plus both had really memorable music and visual styles. Thanks again!

Brady Easter

Hey everyone! I hope your week is going well. (Hey Jeff, how's your week in particular going?) Anyway, a while back you asked for people to write in with weird coincidences and I've got one that involves YOU, Ben Hanson. 2 podcasts ago you mentioned "The Berenstein Bears." For those not familiar, the Berenstein Bears is a long running children's book series that has been around since 1962 and has been adapted into television shows, museum exhibits and even a live show. OR IS IT??? See, the thing is that "The Berenstein Bears" never existed. For some reason, this long running series that is loved by millions is incorrectly remembered as being "The BerenSTEIN Bears" when in reality it is "The BerenSTAIN Bears." People have been trying to figure out for years why such a high percentage of people distinctly remember the series name in the same incorrect way, even going so far as to use it as evidence for the existence of parallel universes. But the truth is that nobody really knows why so many people remember the series as "The Berenstein Bears" when it was never that. It has always and only been "The Berenstain Bears." Cue the eerie music. Anyway, love the show and greatly appreciate what you guys do. It's a highlight in my week. Be good. Have fun. Let's go! ~Brady E.

David blessman

Any of you guys playing mount and blade 2:bannerlord? It came into early release this week. Brief history: the game has taken years to develop since they started over twice!

Aaron Kuten

If you had the choice to live in an alternate universe based off of a videogame which videogame world would you choose to live in? You could take your family, friends, etc if they were willing to go as well. Which world would you feel comfortable starting a new life in? If you have a family/friends, do you think they would be up for your selection? I'd choose the world of Final Fantasy VIII. It always seemed like a nice place to live overall. Thanks!

Philip Sullivan

Hey Hanson and the Homo Sapiens Here’s a little game for you. Can you guess the game using only these short poems about them? Hope you enjoy! -Phil Sullivan from Melbourne, Australia Question 1: Build ‘em up, Break ‘em down Make a pick and go to town Find some gems of bluish hue And make more stuff for you to do. Though the world is awful square. I can’t resist my going there. Question 2: Out of bed and saddle up Drain the coffee from your cup Head off fishing or hunting then Or poker in a gambling den Its so relaxing, I can’t pretend “Hey there, mister!” “Hey there, friend!” Question 3: A little light will guide the way To save the forest from true dismay from evil acts of a big ol’ bird Which upon our hero, pain conferred. Jump and roll and fight and flee An order as tall as the Ginso tree. Question 4: Life destroyed by a blinding blast You’re a fossil from the past Find your son, quick as you can! Find some ammo in a garbage can Put on your armor, pull out your gun Post-apocalypse is actually kinda fun… Question 5: Welcome to your brand new home Feel free to stay or go and roam Through forests, beaches, mines or town While growing profits from the ground A little valley with massive heart Enjoying life is a cultivated art. Answers: Minecraft, Red Dead Redemption 2, Ori and the Blind Forest, Fallout 4, Stardew Valley (Don't read this) PS. Sorry if I reposted this multiple times, I couldn't find my comment the first time I posted it...

Guy Incognito

Hey CLCs. I think I don't like competitive multiplayer and tell people such, but I've got hundreds of hours in Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Titanfall 2, been playing Warzone and that got me into Modern Warfare's multiplayer and I've put a ton of hours into both modes now. And in a couple of weeks I'll tell myself it's not my thing again. What little gaming lie do you keep telling yourselves? Don't get sick, but stay sick ill!

Bdun912

I am officially at the point in my self-isolation where I am buying tons of things—movies, albums, video games, books, household items etc and not using any of it before buying something else. I am fortunate enough to have an essential job and to also be able to work from home but clearly I’m stressed out. Any of you done any shopping therapy? Any good purchases or examples of shoppers remorse?

Michael Moran

What is one thing you wish was more socially acceptable? Running places is my answer. All through college I remember wanting to run everywhere around campus without looking like a dork, just for efficiencies sake. Also, picking your nose should be acceptable as long as you wash your hands afterwards. We all do it.

Hans Kleinenberg

Hiya Minnmax folks, my question for you this week is: what should be Capcom's strategy moving forward? Numerous sources have already ruled out a Code Veronica remake or Dino Crisis (unfortunately) but should they look to other franchises? Or maybe do Resident Evil 4, which I would personally love. Maybe they should move away from remakes entirely, though rumor has it that the studio helping out with Resi 3 is in charge of the next, larger, remake. Would love to hear your thoughts as always.

Duderado

Hello there Minnisters, What is your moment from Replay or Super Replay? My favorite moment has to be the Bizarre Detective stories by the brilliant Benjamin Reeves. His delivery had me in tears and the animation at the end of the Legend of Zelda Super Replay was simply the best surprise! I'd love to hear about your memories as some of the fine folk that made the series something I looked forward to each week for years. Cheers, Nick Luedeman from Indy

Hans Kleinenberg

Hiya Minnmax folks, my second question of the week is: What do you make of the rumour - that's all it is - of Microsoft buying most if not all of Konami's IP? Silent Hills, Metal Gear, Castlevania? There's very little to back this rumour up, which is supposedly an E3 (rip) scoop, but it has been put up by various sites. It wouldn't surprise me personally, but I'm not sure if Castlevania and Silent Hills have much commercial value. Both IP would have to be reinvented for current tech and at that point wouldn't a new IP make more sense? And what of Metal Gear, assuming Kojima won't be involved? Again, very much a rumour, but interesting to think about nonetheless. Thanks much!
