Hello cohorts! Sometimes my favorite features of a game come as part of an update rather than a full expansion, such as the addition of a photo mode (shoutout to Photomode Snap!) or an overhaul to how loot/progression works. Currently, i am super excited for the psvr game Crisis Vrigade to add in co-op in an upcoming update. Have there been any instances where a single update has significantly changed the way you felt about a game, for better or worse? Thanks and take care of yourselves! ✌

Mark Ramirez

Hey Ben and the CLC’s, what is something that has made you laugh this week? You guys have definitely injected some happy into my week!

Brian W

Something you guys didn’t bring up about those Mario remasters.... art/engine! Are these just going to be ports? Are they remasters in odyssey engine? Have Updated art styles in the older engines? I would be way more interested if these had at least a visual update. What are your predictions? What would you want?

Tim Lorow

What do you think about the LEGO Mario starter set that was recently revealed? Is this going to be the hot new toy this Christmas, or will it be forgotten this time next year?

Shuffleguy

Dear Ben and his CLC's, have you heard that Yasunori Mitsuda is creating music for Sea of Stars? The game from the creators of the kick started game "the Messenger". Which brings me to my questions: which old composer would you like to see help with a new modern gaming title and which title? Hope you have a safe weekend!

DarkFishDays

I have an unusual breakfast suggestion: if you like oatmeal try cooking rolled oats in milk or almond milk with a mashed banana. It tastes so much better than adding slices of banana after cooking. Plus, add raisins and cinnamon and you practically got a dessert! Hope that helps brighten someone’s morning.

Auti

Hey Suriel and the gang, Is there any guest character in a video game franchise more unusual than Negan from the Walking Dead in Tekken 7? I personally love the walking dead but cannot justify why Bandai Namco would choose such an unrequested and obscure character? (This question is not necessarily limited to fighting games) Thanks for all the great content you guys make!

Nick from Atlanta

Hello Electronics Glorifying Guides - EGGs, if you will! I've been egg-citedly playing Animal Crossing since it released, but the Bunny Day event has a lot of people hopping mad. The eggheads at Nintendo must have been cracked when they decided on those spawn rates! What are some of your favorite and least favorite timed or themed events in games? In the words of Kanye, "Omelet" you finish, but despite not being a Fortnite fan, the Black Hole event was an amazing cultural moment. Thanks as always, Nick from Atlanta

Tyler Carver

Hey y’all, I recently started playing through Shadow of the Colossus for the first time, and I’m frankly just blown away at what the game does, especially when thinking about it being released almost 15 years ago. It made me think about other games that I’ve played, and getting older in general, and it made we wonder: What makes a game able to stand the test of time? Hope this finds you happy and healthy. Regards, Tyler

James Smith

I've run out of questions so I guess I'll just ask: what's your favourite dip?

Travis Manick

Hi Ben and the not-Bens, What are some aspects about the gaming industry that you feel are taken way too seriously? What are some aspects that you are surprised aren't taken MORE seriously? I don't mean along the lines of "people get mad at competitive games," I mean things like concerns or passion around crunch, company drama, microtransactions, game mechanics, etc. Thaaaaaaanks, Manick_T

Sincerly, Eric

Hello! Which Video Game character would you like to be Quarantined with. You can choose one from these three Categories -Personality. -Thier preparedness/chance of Survival. -Ability to protect you from Looters/Home Defense. Also, Dr. Mario is cheating. That's obvious to everyone Kyle! Stop using that as your answer!

Juan M

Hello from Seattle, my favorite Teriyaki spot recently closed it's doors after 30 years of operation, Have you ever had a favorite restaurant close down and how did you deal with it?

Brad C

Fun suggestion: At work we recently did a competition where everyone submitted their favorite covid meme and the office voted on the funniest one. I know your photo snap mode is brand new, but it might be fun to add a little extra bit of fun for one episode to have everyone submit their own “current events-related meme” but using only in-game screen shots that they took themselves! It would be fun for all and an awesome historic episode that will be looked back on for generations! Possibly even taught in history classes! Jk but for real I love that idea for a show! I was bursting out in fits of laughter in the bathroom watching that! Love the show, keep it up!

Geoff Enright

Hello, fellow Quarantinians! Hope you and yours are safe. CSG here (correctly spelled Geoff), thought I would ask this week if you have ever watched YouTube story gameplay edits of games you don't have time to play? I have begun watching gears of war to get ready to play gears 4 and 5.

Eric Reitz

Hellllloooo MinnMax crew! With COVID-19 pushing Sony's high profile releases to presumably late summer / fall, do you at all see the possibility of Sony delaying the PS5 till next year? Love the show, stay safe out there!

Andrew Burnes

We all have our favorite games of all time, but do any of you have a particular playthrough of a game that sticks out as your favorite or most memorable? For instance, I remember Kyle talking about how awesome his initial playthrough of Inside was because he couldn't look up puzzle solutions on the internet. If so, how do you think those individual experiences shaped your outlook on those games? I'll never forget my first playthrough of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. My cousin and I played it every day one summer until we got to the end. It was our first experience with any BioWare game and, as Star Wars fans, we were absolutely blown away. Although that game isn't my favorite game (or BioWare game, for that matter) anymore, it will always hold a special place in my heart because of that experience I shared with my cousin.

Hi Ben and the CLC’s I’m super excited for FFVII Remake and upcoming the Deepest Dive. I was reading on Reddit that Square has restructured their development teams with , to my understanding, Kitase at the head of a lot of studios. This makes me think of him in like a Kevin Feige type role in Square. How do you speculate that this will either help or hurt Square in terms of delivering high quality Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts games in the future? Love the show, stay safe and I look forward to the Deepest Dive P.S: My girlfriend and I just finished the Animal Crossing Deepest Dive and she asked if there were going to be more. I hope you and the gals come back when there’s big events further down the game’s lifetime.

Taylor Owens

Hey there sure are a lot of remakes of games from 20 years ago. Now imagine it’s 20 years from now. What games are getting remade and what are they like?

Fred Dinovo

Can we follow up the heated "Retro" debate? I see both Suriel's point and well everyone else's. I think the solution is a mid ground. As things progress everything slowly becomes "retrospective" but to JeffM's (?) point you wouldn't call 80's hair metal and Nirvana "Classic Rock" even though in terms of time they are both now Classic. Need to distinguish between the different eras of Retro gaming. "Retro" a term defines graphics from the 8 and 16 bit era. Then there could be something like "3D Retro" that defines the first iteration of 3D from PS1 and the N64. Feel free to ignore my suggestions above, but I think it would be cool for you all to take some time and decide "eras of retro" and names that reflect each one. XOXO Fred

Prodigal Horse

How about a game? Can you guess the game from the rare achievements? Title of achievement and what you need to do to get it is given. Dragon Rider - Tame and ride 5 dragons Skyrim elder scrolls Lambada Locator- locate all lambada symbols Half-life 2 Giant crown master- kill abnormally large monster of each type Monster hunter world Evil Nightmare - complete resurrection of evil in nightmare Doom 3 BFG Firefly - compete 12 weeks in game after joining group Last of Us Mini game Master - complete all mini games Yakuza 3

Hello quarantine loving cohorts, Suddenly a great crack in the sky opens and light shines down upon Hanson's basement giving minnmax the power and burden of choosing a new first party studio to develop a sequel to every first party game, however, every property has to go to another platform. 1. State of Decay 2. Mario Party 3. Spider-Man 4. Fable 5. Astrobot 6. Sea of Theives 7. Legend of Zelda Thom from Redmond, WA

Brady Easter

Hello hello everybody, I hope you're having a fantastic day. (Jeff, I hope your day specifically is extra fantastic.) So based off the MinnMax twitter account, I already know I like the look of the PS5 controller more than you all do, but we're all about positivity here in the MinnMax community, right? So I'd like to hear your FAVORITE uses of the PS4 controller's light bar--another thing I know I like a lot more than you all do! For me, it has to be how it flashes red, white and blue every time you finish a level in Bro Force. Thanks for all your content! You guys are always a bright spot of my week. Have a safe and happy week!

Morboxis

Hello Ben and the Computer Loves What was Jeff's favorite part of Red Dead Redemption 2's epilogue? Seriously, though, has any of you ever explored a place in a video game that you are familiar with? How was it? Could be a city or a museum or anything in between. The closest I ever got was going to Florence years after playing Assassin's Creed II and it left me wishing I had played it closer to going there. Thanks, keep up the good work and I hope Suriel feels better!

RickyWinterborn

whats the first game you ever beat? mine was ff7, as a 10 year old who had no idea prior it was THE GREATEST GAME EVRRr

RickyWinterborn

woof u see the new ps5 controller? not digging the two tone, looks like a mad cats lil brother controller...

RickyWinterborn

yall think this past month has been the greatest string of games since the famous mass effect year or whatever? maybe it was metroid prime... anyways ive spent like 200 bucks already on games this quarantine cuz there all legendary releases. half life alyx was nutty, best vr to date, then doom eternal is a balls to the wall core PC shooter, animal crossing is stunningly good, already dumped prob 100 hours in and just getting started, now fuggin FF7 REMAKE!!! that doesnt even mention re 3 remake, but im good on spooky stuff after HL alyx

RickyWinterborn

any of you watch onward? felt like the first pixar move that was unquestionably worse then dreamworks/other studios. it had fun parts but just reeeally felt off, with really generic designs and lame core gimmick

RickyWinterborn

valorant seemed really half baked, but just did huge twitch numbers. i watched some gameplay it was so quiet and odd. i dont hate it, always loved CS so ill give it a go, but was surprised to see a massive interest imediately on twitch

Ben

ever since Twitter introduced the "topics" thing every time I mistakenly scroll to the "video games" section it's a very weird blast from the past of like straight up console war trolling and it seems like this dumb corner of Twitter is the only place I really see that xbox/Sony heated fan arguments happen anymore. do people care about console wars anymore or is it just another way to get clicks/profile views etc

GreenMountainState

Hey MinnMax Panel, I have a friend who's interested in getting back into playing games but he's not really up for the stress of competitive multiplayer. Any good suggestions for a two person co-op experience? In the past we had a good time with Gears and horde mode waves, something AI based... If it helps we're on Xbox. Thanks!

They call me mista Patreon

Hi minncrew, What is a game in that you played in childhood that seemed appropriate for your age group, but got really unsettling or intense for one section? I remember spider man for the PlayStation 1 was fine for 95% of the game, until the finale where a carnage/doc ock hybrid chased the player down a hallway. It didn’t help that the chase was towards the camera, so the controls were off kilter. Needless to say I had nightmares for weeks! Stay cool and stay safe crew! -Nick from Vancouver Island

Good day Ben and the isolationists! It's 2020, and I think it's time for some of our favorite video game characters to start dating around some more. I'll start. Kratos is in the market for a new lady friend, and Princess Peach seems like just the gal! She's royalty, would make a great step mom to Atreus, and Bowser seems unlikely to put up much of a fight against the God of War. Now it's your turn. If you were to build an unlikely couple across gaming, who would it be? Bonus points for cross species dating (looking at you Sonic).

James Burkett

Hey MinnMax crew, I'm going to be skipping the FF7 Remake Deepest Dive since this will be my first time playing any version of FF7 and I assume you all will be comparing old scenes with new ones, speculate about later events in future parts of the remake, etc. I'm not going to listen until I've played through EVERY part. So I'll listen in.............maybe 10-15 years? I like that I know almost nothing about this game except for some names and a character's death. I've been able to keep myself in the dark for so long because I can tune out anyone when they say the phrase "Final Fantasy". It just hasn't been a franchise I've ever cared about, but I'm looking forward to get into this one. Though it's been tougher to avoid info recently since everyone assumes everyone has played and loves this game. So my question: Is there a highly regarded game or series (TV show/Comics/Books/Films) out there that you have no real idea about but are interested in playing, watching, or reading? I know JeffM's answer is Red Dead 2 but what about the rest of the panel? Is your answer that you haven't seen the greatest work of art of all time: The Wire? Shoutout to the Animal Crossing channel in the discord!

Christopher Reardon

Hey Ben and Cohorts, A few weeks ago Ben mentioned journaling as a possible home activity/coping mechanism during this public health crisis. I've never been able to commit to a journal for more than a few days, but I'm proud to say I have done it every day for two weeks in a row now, and it has been a very rewarding experience. I don't have much to write about besides daily drama, news stories, and my progress in Stardew Valley and Ring Fit Adventure, but it still feels like I'm lifting a bit of a weight off my soul every time I put the words down. I also agree that there may come a time in the far future when I'd like to look back on what I and the world at large were going through during this time. Not a question so much as just a thank you for the great advice!

Shakenbake67

Hey MinnMax crew, with the largely positive reviews for FFVII it has surprised me. When was the last time a game came out and legitimately surprised you whether it was really good or really bad?

Brian Paradis

Hey CLCs, I just finished the final season of the Telltale Walking Dead game and I absolutely loved it. I delayed playing it for almost a year due to low review scores and all the news around the shutdown of the studio. Do you all have any games that you didn’t play right away due to news around the release of the game? Thanks, Brian from Oro Valley, AZ

With the Valorant closed beta starting today, Riot followed the recent trend of drops-enabled streams with a chance to win a closed beta invite if you link your twitch account with Riot and watch Valorant streams. What are your thoughts on these and can anyone in this community name a soul that has ever received a “drops-enabled” beta invite for anything? Maybe it's just me but I feel like the crapshoot promise of getting a key strapped on to what is essentially just an advertising campaign leaves a bad taste in my mouth and makes me want to stop watching these streams so I don’t encourage this strategy. Salt in the wound is the multiple emails I’ve received with language like “the closed beta is officially open and ready for you to join” but it's just a link with steps telling me to watch twitch streams and pray for an invite that realistically won’t happen. The language in their marketing really tends to make it sound like these are the steps to get in now or soon, rather than stating things as they really are. I would be fine watching these streams and waiting for the open beta if the drops weren’t even a thing but the way they dangle the prospect out there to get twitch viewers feels bad to me. Game looks cool though, I hope some average joe out there gets in to the beta.

Jake Z

Hey guys, With the reveal of the PS5 DualSense controller, I noticed it doesn't have a prominent light bar on top of the controller like the DualShock 4. That light bar was integral to tracking the DualShock for PSVR. Do you think this change means next gen PSVR will switch to inside-out tracking, like the Oculus Quest? I sure hope so, because it's been frequently annoying having to make sure you're in the correct position relative to the Playstation camera. I've heard many say the Quest's inside-out tracking is the future of VR and it seems that Playstation may agree.

Waddup prudent spenders! What's the deepest buying hole you've gone on? I let my sister borrow my medium sized monitor, so I started looking at new monitors. I ended up with a four monitor VESA mount, two 27" monitors, and a smaller monitor on the side... :(

Dylan Drazek

Hello Social Distancing Delinquents! My question is a simple one but one that I think is fun to think about: What is one of or your absolute favorite sound effect or vocal exclamation from a video game?

Jaketrix

Hey Ben and the Max Minners! What movie would you like to see be adapted into a video game on an older platform? For example, I would have like any of the Star Wars movies after the original trilogy get the Super Star Wars treatment. Or maybe the Avengers saga be turned into a 2D sprite beat'em up. Thanks for all that you do and stay safe!

Moonsbro

First Time Caller, semi new watcher. With FF7 Remake being the biggest game releases of all time i decided to double dip and get the game from the Australian PSN to play the game THAT much sooner. Has there been any game where you bought a different version or ordered from 2 different stores in the hopes to receive a copy early? With Kingdom hearts 3 releasing 5 days earlier in Japan i spent 6 months learning japanese just so i could play it without having to wait. Thank you Minn Max crew !

TimeBombTom

New Supporter but long time fan, while most of us are stuck at home I guess what I would be curious in is while you are stuck in your house and you could pick one game system and 4 games to play on that system what would they be? Would you choose long gameplay over replayability? Inquiring minds want to know or maybe just me,

FlaminQueso

Hey Howdy Hey Ben and the 'horts, Ok, I know JeffM finishing RDR2 comes up every episode, and was hoping to do this on the MinnFAQS call-in, but let me give JeffM my best sales pitch. Don't worry! no spoilers at all, i promise. JeffM, I, like you, put down RDR2 about halfway into the game. In fact, I put that game down 3 different times and only pushed through to the end because of the MinnMax discord's encouragement. I am SO glad i did finish it. JeffM, I have heard your hesitancy and I don't think anyone is explaining it correctly. You got sucked into the open world aspect of the game and don't want to get lost in that aspect again on your way through the story if you pick it back up. Think of the game like a diamond shape on a deck of cards. It's narrow at the top, or beginning of the game, and slowly gets wider in scope as the game introduces you to the open world. When that game opened up all the way to the widest part, you, like many folks, explored all the aspects of open world. Now, you might be thinking the game is like a triangle and there is even more to do later in the game, so it's too intimidating to go back. In reality, there is that bottom half to the diamond. You hit a point in the story where it starts to narrow in scope again. The narrative in the game encourages you to focus on the story and the back half of the game becomes more and more linear. And for me, that was the VERY BEST part of the game. RDR2 is at its best when its diving into the characters and that's what the later story is all about. I'm not saying you should expect Uncharted in terms of linearity, but some of the narrative beats are in that vein and really make RDR2 the masterpiece it is. We have a mandatory quarantine and now is the time! Jump back in where you were in the game and follow the main story. I promise it's worth it! Thanks, Queso

Hello Ben. I have the most important question of the week to ask. How are you doing? I’m sorry the Patreon numbers went down because of COVID. But I want to know how you are doing mentally during this time, sincerely your friend, mark.

TheFenwickGhost

Hey Ben and MinnMaxers! I just joined the force here and was curious...do you all have trouble separating enjoying playing games on your own time and playing games for work? I know it sounds like a dream job to many people, but are there times when you know you are gonna have to invest a lot of time into something that is going to be really crappy? Thanks! Stephen Z

David blessman

Do any of you use K to pause YouTube or space bar? Why isn’t space bar universally a pause/play button for streaming??
