Hey quarantine crew,

Victor Pham

If FFVII really is the last big game of 2020, will Ben finally have time to beat Persona 5?

Christopher Reardon

I'm so sorry that I confused Kyle's advice about journaling as Ben's. I'm genuinely embarrassed.

Brian Brown

Hey Ben and Crew, Due to the events of the world, I haven't gotten my physical copy of The FFVII remake yet. I'm so excited and waiting is killing me to the point that I've started just watching the trailers over and over again. So my question for you all is, what is the hardest wait that you've ever had to endure for a game that you were excited for?

with Bravado

Did you ever buy a game, quit for years, and then go back and finally complete it? For me, that was Dark Souls, the original Final Fantasy 5, and King’s Firld

David blessman

Do you guys press a button for pause or click the pause icon? Did you know you can press k to pause YouTube ?

Thom Blackburn

Hi Benji and the friendjis, What is your favorite time-saving feature of a platform? For me, steam has to be the ability to hide games or keywords from visibility in the storefront. I've hidden the evil within because I already played through it on PS4 and I don't like Mobas so I've added those to my banned tag list. Thanks, Thom from Redmond, WA

Should Intelligent Systems make an advanced wars for switch like FE3? Would Suriel give it a 11/10? Or should they keep the world of Three Houses for their next game? You have one choice my dudes!

Hey Ben, JeffM, Suriel, and Kyle, IT’S DLC OR SIMPSONS – ROUND 2! You know the drill. I give you a title. You tell me if it is the title of DLC or the title of a Simpsons episode. Also, on the episode two weeks ago, Ben bemoaned that the Simpsons episodes must have been later seasons as he didn’t recognize a few of the plotlines. All episodes were pulled from Seasons 1-11 (same case for this round). NO MORE EXCUSES, GENTLEMEN! HERE WE GO! Grift of the Magi – This is a Simpsons episode. In the episode, mafia boss Fat Tony successfully extorts a large sum of money from Springfield Elementary School, forcing Principal Skinner to close it down. Burial at Sea – This is DLC for Bioshock: Infinite The Cartridge Family: This is a Simpsons episode. In the episode, Homer purchases a gun to protect his family, of which Marge disapproves. Homer begins to show extremely careless gun usage causing Marge to leave him when she catches Bart using the gun without their permission. Girly Edition: This is a Simpson’s eepisode. In the episode, Lisa and Bart Simpson must co-anchor a new news program, though when Bart is seen as a more successful news anchor, Lisa becomes jealous and seeks revenge. Meanwhile, in the subplot, Homer Simpson gets a monkey helper because of his laziness. Cold, Cold Heart – This is DLC for Batman: Arkham Origins Day of the Jackanapes – This is a Simpsons episode. In the episode, Krusty announces his retirement due to interference from network executives and the growing popularity of the game show Me Wantee. The Doctor Who Cloned Me – This is DLC for Duke Nukem Forever The Curse of the Flying Hellfish: This is a Simpson’s episode. To be fair, the full episode title is, “"Raging Abe Simpson and His Grumbling Grandson in "The Curse of the Flying Hellfish" but that would have been too obvious. In the episode, one of Abraham Simpson's fellow World War II veterans, Asa Phelps, dies, leaving him and Mr. Burns as the only living members of Grampa's war squad, the Flying Hellfish Naked City – This is DLC for L.A Noire They Shall Not Pass – This is DLC for Battlefield 1

Hello fellow game lovers. I have to get this off my chest, Being from Kansas City, Missouri is absolutely not a southern state. Anyway What is the best grass in video games? I’m looking at you Crysis 3.

Hazal Mohammed

Quick question. How has everyone's gaming habits changed after a month or so of self-isolation? I'm genuinely curious if there is a difference given that one is usually inside to play console/PC games. Are people gaming more/less? Are choices in games changing due to being inside more? What say you all? Thanks.

Jt

Hello everyone! What's a question that each of you get asked a lot, yet still enjoy answering? Regards, Jt

Howdy y’all! Hope you’re staying safe and taking care of yourselves. I am just about 15 or so hours into P5R (just finished up the first dungeon), and I played through the original game completely when it first came out. I am loving all of the changes that have been made for Royal, they’re making it a blast to play through the game again. What’s been your favorite change you’ve encountered thus far? For me, main game-wise it’s been the changes to the first major boss. Without spoiling anything, they really tied together other story arcs from that first segment into the battle that weren’t there the first time, and it made me hate that boss even more (which I didn’t think was possible!) Also, I have to ask: what’s bonkin’??

Kyle Silva

Hey Ben, Kyle H., Suriel and Jeff. Kyle S. from Mississauga writing in. For over a month now I've been wanting to submit a quick tip that would resolve an issue Kyle H. has had with swiping out of games when playing on his iPhone he mentioned weeks ago on the show. Go to your phones Settings, do the following: Accessibility > Guided Access > Turn Guided Access On Once its on, you can triple press the power button, to access a mode that allows you to not accidentally swipe out of apps, until you triple press again to jump out of the mode. I use this mode myself when playing Ghost Trick. Hope this makes the show better.

I think it was last week’s episode Kyle said he’d like sea of thieves more if it had an RPG system. Boi do I have news for Kyle. He can live his dreams in the sea of thieves pen and paper rpg game. Digging deeper I found out that Dishonored and the alien film franchise also has one. What video game or film franchise would you want to turn into a pen paper RPG. Would you guys ever consider playing the pen paper version of video games for MinnMax. Thanks for the show Adrian from Idaho.

Hey Jeff M, the Rob Schneider loving co-hort and the others. We all know the desert island question but since we are all in quarantine I had an interesting spin on it. Lets say that you no longer have power and all you have is your Nintendo Switch and a solar charger to keep it going. What games would you put onto your Nintendo Switch to keep you busy until the apocalypse takes you? To make it interesting you have to consider only using the internal storage of the system and the size of the games you put onto it.

Joelle

this is more of a comment but the fact that persona 5 royal and FF7 Remake came out two weeks apart is really criminal. Too many long RPGs to play!

Mike

Hey MinnMaxers! I was wondering what the thoughts of the crew are on chatting with friends while playing a single player game? I have a group of friends with whom I have played a lot of multiplayer games on PS4, mostly Destiny and Monster Hunter World. However, when I am playing a single player game, I tend to get a bit anxious when receiving a Party request. I don't mean to be asocial. But, when I am playing a single player, narrative-focused game I am concentrating on following the story, e.g. listening to cutscenes, etc., and I tend not to be able to carry a conversation nor do I want to miss something when someone else is talking at an inopportune time, e.g. a critical plot point or the next objective is being discussed. I hope that I don't come across as bad friend. But, I think it is for the best as I know that I won't be able to devote enough of my attention to the conversation anyways. Mike in the City of Lakes.

Gooooood evening MinnMaxers! I'm going to tell you some colors, and you're going to try and guess what game corresponds with them... 1) Red and Blue - Super Mario (any) 2) Orange and Blue - Portal/Portal 2 3) Green and Black - CoD4 (or Alien Isolation) 4) Purple and Orange - Spyro the Dragon 5) Brown and Yellow - Animal Crossing 6) Red, Black and Orange - Red Dead Redemption 2 7) Purple and Black - Saints Row: The Third 8) Green and Brown - Minecraft 9) Black, White and Pink - GTA: Vice City

Heya Minnmax! Last week, I had my first panic attack at 25 years old and since then I've been much more stressed than I have ever been. Always suspicious something could go wrong, but ultimately doesn't. So I've been trying to play FFVII Remake to relax and delve into my childhood for hours on end. It sorta works, but it doesn't really lower my stress all that much until jokes happen. So my question relates to that: What are the game(s) you play when you need to relax, to lower that anxiety level to the minnimum? Any suggestion is welcome except sport games :P

Travis Brinkley

Hey cohorts, I’ve been watching a lot of Bon Apetit during the quarantine and in their last video they said that their entire staff of pro chefs agrees that mayo is the only option for grilled cheese. I wasn’t sure if there was still a debate but there you have it

Derin

Hello MinnMax! If you were a Dragon Ball character, what track would play when you went the equivalent of going super saiyan? It doesn't have to be a track from DBZ, it can be any music that you would like to be playing in the background as your power up. P.S. I would love to see a spoiler discussion for the tournament of power arc in Dragon Ball Super at some point. Keep up the good work!

Lachie James

Hey Minnmax, I'm a perpetually positive person so my question for you is what has been a silver lining for you during all the quarantine, covid19 stuff? For me it's the fact my gf has started taking an interest in gaming. I started her with The Sims, a game she already kind of enjoyed, and she has now started exploring through my Steam library stopping on Goat Simulator, Banished and Kelvin and the Infamous Machine. Keep up the good work gang :)

Sam Morrow

Good day Ben and the quarantine quarellers. Quarantine has given many people time to go through backlogs and play games they may have missed out on which go me to thinking: What games do not get the respect that you think it deserves? For me personally, hearing your love and fondness Chrono Trigger made me that you do not often (ever?) bring up Chrono Cross. While it will never be the sequel to Chrono Trigger people wanted, may people are missing out by never playing this game. If you take it as a stand-alone game it’s got a fantastic group of characters, interesting battle system, and some of the best graphics of that time. Anyone with time who enjoyed Chrono Trigger but skipped this one should really seek it out. What are your favorite disrespected games?

Marshall Banana

Hey Ben, I’ve been playing and loving Final Fantasy VII Remake. My question is how do you think I’ll be able to transfer my save data when part 2 of the rest of series comes out? Has Square announced that answer and maybe I missed it? Thanks for all the content!

GreenMountainState

Hey MinnMax Panel, In light of sports being shutdown, this seems like the opportune time for esports to step up and step in. Do you think an esport could strike a deal right now with ESPN or another network for a broad coverage event? Seems like if not now then when? Thanks, Doug from Vermont

MusicAndStuff

Hello Everyone! In light of the recent "DualSense" reveal the discussion of Inline vs Offset Joysticks have started to rise again when comparing Sony's controller to Microsoft's. The argument for offset usually ends at "It's more comfortable since your thumbs naturally rest there". So with that argument, would switching the face buttons / right stick placement create the ultimate comfortable controller? There's tons of games where camera control is a must and the face buttons are secondary.

The_Smak

Hey Cohort Loving Computers, What would you consider to be the squishiest games? This would be based off of sound or gore or a combination of both that would involve something that goes squish or would identify as squishy. Some examples would be blasting locusts into chunk bits in Gears 5 or stomping necromorphs into paste in Deadspace.

Brayden Downes

Hey guys, I was working with my friend last night and we were chatting about our favourite albums of all time. We have different answers but similar taste, so we recommended music to each other but we both knew we are never going to really listen. So if you could force your friend to sit down and enjoy any piece of art you’d think they would like, which one/s would it be? The consequence of them disliking it or thinking’s it’s average is the loss of the respect a friend has in your taste. (Not really, but this question had to have some stakes to it)

Mike Vogt

Hello MinnMax! When all this is over with, what do you predict will be your Game of the Quarantine?

Jackson Arnold

Hello! I've recently just found my old PS3 in my closet, and I've been playing through my favorite series of all time, Ratchet and Clank. One thing I really love is the Insomniac Museum. For those who aren't aware, the Insomniac Museum was a secret bonus level in most of the games that features tons of cut content and special things to mess around with. For example, designing your own hacking puzzles, driving vehicles that never were implemented, and cool tech that they just couldn't fit into the game for whatever reason. All with developer commentary. (on the PS2!!!) My question is: is there anything like this in other games? It's such a staple of the Ratchet series and I think it is absolutely fascinating, but I can't think of any other examples of games that show off some of their cut content like this. Thanks for all you do!

Whatsup ‘Horts, My favorite game as a kid was Ghouls’n Ghosts in the Sega Genesis. I loved swapping the controller back and forth with my brothers for hours and dawning the golden armor remains one of the most satisfying feelings in games for me. It took me weeks to finally beat a game that can be speedran in minutes and when I finally reached the end I was told that to fight the real boss I have to do it all over again on hard mode. I was crushed. Have you guys had a surprise fast one pulled on you like this before the age of spoilers? I recently beat Super Ghouls’N Ghost on the switch with the rewind function and I’m convinced the only way to beat that game is if you can essentially tell the future. Fujiwara is definitely the greatest troll designer of all time.

Howdy Jeffm and the couple other fellas, Now that Hip Hop de Chocobo is taking the world by storm and topping all the charts, I humbly ask this query... What is the best song specifically made for a video game? P.S. can I get you all to wave to your respective cameras in unison so I can gif it for new Patron celebrations in the Discord? Thanks Bob

wittynicknamehere .

Hello, Hanson and the Electronics-Adoring Acolytes! You like to say that the patrons are your bosses in this endeavor. So here are your orders. When you launch the eventual interview show, I have a request for your first interview subject. A thousand cicadas. As a flexible boss, I'm willing to bend if you'd rather do a thousand episodes, each starring one cicada. Let me know when that's done, guys. Thanks!

aManNamedBabs

Hey there Kings of the Hilliard I am currently listening to the most recent episode of MinnTrax and I was excited to hear Kyle's experience with Blink 182's Enema of the State album was very similar to my own, decades ago. Hearing some of those tracks particularly brings me back to playing through Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x on the original xbox, creating a custom soundtrack and putting pretty much that whole album on there to listen to as I played that game for weeks and weeks. That brings me to my question, do you guys have any strong connections between particular artists or albums and video games? Is there any song or album that will remind of you playing a certain game back in the day? Thanks for all you do!

Edgar Vazquez

Hey Cohorts! This is more a suggestion/request for the overall streaming. Any chance you could give a little buffer time between the start of the stream and the start of the play session? This mostly for Kyle and Suriel, but also might help other live streams. Even when I get notification from Youtube or Twitch that the stream started and immediately start watching, I never get to watch the beginning of the session. TLDR; Ya'll start too quick.

Hello Ben and the CLC’s! I was thinking back on Halo and what I’d like to see in the next Halo game, even though it’s most likely not coming out this year... what made it so special for me in the beginning? I think the second level when you touch down on Halo for the first time sums it up. It was this giant mysterious, and dangerous, world that made me so excited to see more! And also I got such a thrill out of meeting up with the other marines that survived the wreck. I always tried so hard to keep them alive no matter what! It felt great fighting as part of a larger army! Other games have replicated that, including the beginning of Halo 2 on Earth, parts of Halo 3, the old cod modern warfare games, MW2 specifically battling through suburban neighborhoods, battlefield multiplayer, etc. Maybe it’s just the fact that I was raised on WW2 shooters and always felt like I was in the middle of a major battle? IDK but I think that’s the element missing in H4 and H5 for me. H4 you’re all alone and H5 you have 3 companions but it’s just not the same as being a part of a larger army and feeling like there’s a larger fight happening all around you. I feel like devs shy away from those experiences so that they can maximize performance due to pushing the graphics to the absolute limits. I like good graphics but feel like we need more games that don’t need to be the best graphically and focus on bringing those large scale experiences! The little we know about Infinite makes me think they are doubling down on Chief as a lone wolf. What do you think? And what kind of elements in games really “do it for you” as far as making you feel fully immersed and loving the experience?

betoq92 .

MINNMAX TWO Ns This has been bugging me for 5 mins and I opened the Patreon app instead of chrome. Soo is the the phrase “got away scotch free” or “got away scott free”? Please help and stay safe.

Craig Hernandez

Hey guys what are your thoughts on Infinity Ward banning 70,000 cheaters? That number is staggering to me.

TimeBombTom

Greetings Programs! So if your podcast was animated looney toons style which character would portray each of you? And do your best to do your impressions of them.

Chaotik

Greetings, fellow earthlings My question is a bit of a two parter. What fictitious character do you loathe within reason and what character do you loathe regardless of reasoning? For example a character I loathe within reason is Ted Faro from Horizon Zero Dawn. *SPOILERS FOR HZD* Not only is this man responsible for the end of civilization as we know it, he's also responsible for the prevention of the next generation of humans to learn from our mistakes and avoid a similar fate. A character I loathe regardless of reason is Blackjack The Pegasus from the Percy Jackson series. I know he's supposed to be the hero's noble and comedic steed, but my mind could not waiver from giving him the most annoying voice imaginable when reading his dialogue. Also after him appearing in 3 books from the original series I only laughed at ONE of his MANY "jokes"

Michael Moran

Hey Minyu Force! I wrote in last week ragging on the drops-enabled stream method for the Valorant closed beta and wanted to clarify that I actually got access before the episode with my question even aired. A few others in the MinnMax discord got access as well. So it is possible! The game is fun and very well polished. Feels like a great, more accessible, progression for the CS:GO style shooter. A lot more CS than Overwatch.

Jason Kelley

When I was a kid I worked at an amusement park that shall remain nameless and one night when we were closing the arcade me and couple buddies were messing with one of those machines where the lights go around and you try to stop it on a prize, then it drops. We were feeding the same token in over and over again just seeing if anyone could actually stop it on a prize and on my first try I landed on a copy of the PS2 game based on Ang Lee’s Hulk movie. Needless to say I couldn’t put it back in the machine and we couldn’t tell anyone about it because we were slacking off when we were supposed to be working, so I kept it and eventually finished it even though it was horrible. Are there any games you only played because of weird/random circumstances?

Nicholas OConnor

With the stoppage of new DLC for Rocksmith 2014 reminds me that was a good game that helped me learn a few songs on guitar, now if I only kept playing since 2014 maybe I could've been the next Van Halen, Slash, or Buckethead. Are there any other games you played that you used to learn a new skill or refine a skill? Maybe writing, coding, typing, music etc.

Mark Garcia

Greetings Ben and Crew, If a TV exec were to kick down your basement door today and say, ”Shut up, and listen! I want to make a TV series based on the origins of Minn Max with two N’s!” what kind of TV show would you want it to be? Drama? Sitcom? Dramady? Also, which actors would you choose to play the role of your three cohorts? Thanks as always for the great content!

FlaminQueso

Hey howdy hey Ben and the ‘horts, We are about 33 days into it. What is the weirdest thing you have spent your time doing during the quarantine so far? Thanks, Queso

Leah Christensen

With not a lot of new games on the horizon, are there any games you would love to replay, but have not had the chance in a long time until now.

Zane Dukes

Hi there CLCs, On Minnfaqs Ben and Jeff were confused as which states constituted the American South. I was shouting in disgust when you did not know if Tennessee, Kentucky, or Virginia were "the south". You can reliably consider the 11 Confederate states "the south", which are of course Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Tennessee. Additionally states like Kentucky, West Virginia, and Maryland - despite not joining the Confederacy - are considered "the south" due to their shared heritage and culture of Slavery, Jim Crow, and Evangelical Christianity. Oklahoma is also often considered “the south” due to the influx of Appalachians and other southerners who moved there after the civil war. Also the south has the best college football. Go Big Orange Love, Zane from Knoxville TN
