Hello Ben and the C.F.C.s, What’s your favorite classic level theme? Beach? Volcano? Swamp? Ancient Ruins? A battlefield for anthropomorphized explosives? Minecarts? Snow? Something else entirely? Why?

Jordan Edmond

Helloooooo people, Is there a game or franchise that you didn't like or couldn't get into but you ended up playing and really enjoying a sequel or spinoff? I tried playing Red Dead Redemption so many times and never really enjoyed it. I gave the sequel a try after seeing all of the praise and "game of the generation" talk and ended up really enjoying it. Thanks for all of the great podcasts guys!

So I'm not sure if anyone here was waiting with baited breath for the release of Fortnite: Save the World, but your wait may finally be over! Recently it was announced that the original mode for Fortnite was coming out of early access! However the news was also accompanied by the fact that Save the World was no longer going to be free to play. This comes as a bit of a bummer to me! I actually like the building system of Fortnite and I was looking forward to jumping into that mode, and maybe roping some of my friends in with me. Anyone share my sentiment, or is this just news that no one cares about? Have a good one, Jeeo

I tried Breath of the Wild and after around 5 hours I decided I wasn't sure how much I wanted to prioritize it. I didn't like the open world mechanics (stunning as the graphics were), nor the breakable weapons, or how climate effects you and how one-note combat felt. I'm still planning on going back so far (especially since parrying felt pretty good) but this made me wonder: what Critically Acclaimed game have y'all bounced off the fastest and why?

Ello-hay ohort-cays Unpopular opinion - I'm just not excited for Cyberpunk 2077. Am I alone in this? It seems like the world suddenly became overnight fans of the Cyberpunk franchise right after it got announced. This only doubled down when Keanu showed up at E3 (which, don't get me wrong, was still super cool) but doesnt change my overall anticipation for the game. I saw the big showcase for it last week and while it's quite pretty, nothing jumped out to me. It seems. .fine. I don't hate it, and I don't want to be the wet blanket bringing down other people's excitement, but it falls firmly into a category of "I'm sure that's good, but it just looks thoroughly uninteresting to me." Does anyone else feel this way about Cyberpunk or feel this way about any big upcoming releases? Thanks Bob

Okay, first of all, I have to share my "dumbest thing I believed as a kid" story. When I was a little--somewhere between 5 and 7 years old--I used to think that your pee was stored in your butt cheeks. So whenever I would go pee, after I was done, I would drop my pants past my butt, reach back and squeeze my own butt cheeks as hard as I could in order to make sure all of my pee was out. It wasn't until I learned what a bladder was and, more importantly, where it was located that I ceased this bathroom ritual. Anyway, hope you all enjoyed my ridiculous story. Here's my completely unrelated question for you all: What is the best use of a licensed song in a movie? (Two of my top picks are Gheto Boys' "Still" in Office Space's printer scene and "Rock and Roll Part 2" in Joker's stair dancing scene.) Thank you for all the amazing content and incredible community. ~Brady E. Edmond, OK

Hope you are all having a turbo week! Just rewatched Black Panther and it got me thinking...what studio would be best to make a Black Panther game? Insomniac and CDPR come to mind first. Insomniac’s experience with Spider-Man and Ratchet and Clank would seem to be a good fit. CD Projekt Red would be neat to combine what they learned from The Witcher and Cyberpunk and implement it into Wakanda. We might never see a Black Panther game but it never hurts to dream. Be curious what you gents think! Stay safe, Godspeed!

Dakota Salmeron

Hey everyone, I hope all is well. Considering the ps5 controller will come with a built in mic, what odd/unconventional ways are you guys expecting it to be implemented? Will games just continue to judge us for cursing? Or perhaps it could be a unique tool for some crazy easter eggs? Or am I kidding myself and it will just be used to make a million suggestions in the online store? Thanks everyone, keep on doin it.

DangerZone

What’s your guys SECOND least favorite game in a series? Thanks! Keep up the hard work

What are your thoughts on the Isle of Armor DLC for Pokémon? I found it to be fun and I’m excited for changes they made for competitive play including making it easier to get the “perfect” Pokémon. However, that game looks really rough especially in the over world areas.

Hey Howdy Hey Hanson and the 'horts, Last week on the pod, Brian shared with us his embarrassing childhood story of a broken blockbuster disc, a shoddy repair attempt, and a forgone allowance. In the spirit of one-upmanship, I’m going to share my more embarrassing childhood video game related story. When I was a wee lad of 6 or 7, one of my favorite games was Zelda: Link to the Past on SNES. Even back then, I knew that game was special and I loved it. Only thing I didn’t like about it, the text. Who wants to read in a video game?! As you can imagine, my aversion to reading got me stuck. Rather than going to my older brother for help, giving up and moving on to another game, or …. reading, I remained hard headed. In the manual for the game, I found a hotline where you could pay by the minute to get solutions to puzzles. After a large temper tantrum, I somehow convinced my mom to call this number and get me the help I needed. Being shy, I refused to talk to the other person directly. This forced my mom to basically translate my dilemma to the person and then repeat everything the other person said. After some lengthy back and forth it all worked out! I was able to get past that part and eventually go on to beat the game … without reading any text! I still don’t like reading text in games, but THANKS MOM! How about y’all? Any good embarrassing stories related to video games? Thanks, Queso

Donnie

Hey friends! So apparently the Xbox Series S that’s being talked about will be a cheaper less powerful version of the Series X. That made me wonder if the digital version of the PS5 will be the same way. If so, what’s the appeal of a next gen console that’s not as powerful as the marketed next gen consoles? Is there a reason that would convince you to get a somewhat next gen console instead of just keeping your current gen ones? Especially with several new games still coming to current gen?

BEEFCAKE

Hey there! What game do you suck at but love dearly? For me it’s hollow knight currently as it kicks my ass but I keep going back for more

Now that Last of Us Part II is out, what do you want to see next from Naughty Dog? TLOU III? Uncharted 5? A new Jak? I’m personally ready for something entirely new from them. I want to see a world designed by them with the PS5 in mind.

Taylor Owens

The general discourse around The Last of Us Part II really sucks. Everywhere I go on social media there are people on both sides of the debate, including respected figures in the industry, just being jerks to each other. I blame a lot of it on Twitter. It’s lack of context and nuance make it a terrible place to have a complex discussion about a subjective experience. How can the industry be better?

Hello. I was playing 50 Cent: Bulletproof the other night. SO MY QUESTION IS: what living person do you want to see adapted as a video game IP?

What are your thoughts on military organizations partnering with video games and content creators? Also known as Paid Patriotism with the goal being more recruitment? i tried hosting a discussion here [https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/hiw6f0/what_are_your_thoughts_on_military_organizations/] with my in-depth thoughts, but the TLDR of my opinion is: Paid Patriotism in the video game world, similar to the sports world, is bad. It diminishes service members, misleads young people, and the money could be better used imo.

Charles Bean

Hey people! I absolutely agree with Dan that KC Joe’s is the greatest BBQ on planet earth! Anyway I just finished Watchmen on HBO and i don’t think I’ve thought more about the events of how a show played out before. What show has just stuck with you long after you have finished it?

Claudi

Hey everyone! Just wondering if you guys have any opinions on the UN-release of Crucible, the game released by Amazon (I want to say about a month ago?). Thanks!

PhillyYeetSteak

Hey friends, You touched on this in a previous episode, but how do you think the response to the avengers game would be different if it was marketed as Ultimate Alliance 3? Obviously there are differences, but what if they just said "we are going in a bit of a new direction with the series"? Personally, i would have been satisfied with a repetitive janky beat em up for an avengers game like ultimate alliance 1 and 2, so what we are actually getting is way more than i was hoping for. Thanks and take care!

Israel Roque

Hello everyone! So, is there a game genre that years ago you used to suck completly at, but now you actually enjoy it and are somehow good at it? For me its first person shooters. Back in the COD 4: (Og) Modern Warfare, i would play split screen matches with my friends and i would always lose terribly, to the point where i started to almost hate the multiplayer elements of any shooter, (i did continued to play shooters buts solely single player). Until i tried Destiny 2, i started dabbling in Crucible and i noticed i progressively got higher on the leaderboards. Long story short, Bungie's tight shooter controls made me actually good at first person shooters multiplayer modes!

Sincerly, Eric

This news about Andy made me forget whatever question I was originally going to ask. What was you all first clear memory of him? I've always seen him as a rare breed of person who is extremely open, vulnerable, honest/direct. While also maintaining a pretty transparent Imposter Syndrome or Insecurity issue. Is that accurate without sounding mean? It's like the dude has everything going for him with a good personality and he is unaware.

Matthew Weatherley

Gday Minnmaxers Why do you think we don't see more documentaries or behind the scenes features for video games. It seems like it has become a common feature for blurays and watching the extra content always makes me appreciate the creative process much more. Besides the obvious language barrier can you think of any other reasons.

TommenDotGif

Hi gang. If you had the ability to strike a game from existence, removing its influence from all other games, would you do it and what game would it be? Or do you think all games have their place regardless of quality or negative impact?

Chree McGee

Hey there, everybody! In music, film, literature, etc. sometimes an artist/ group of artists will get pegged as not having a lot of range. What game company do you think is most guilty of this, and how would you like to see them branch out?

Brian W

Let’s talk Bacon! How do you like it? So crispy and dry it shatters with each bite or soft and chewy like it’s a piece of bacon flavored bubble gum? I say chewy all the way. Get that crispy stuff outta here!

omanzo7

Hey Minnmax crew, With rumors of Fable and Perfect Dark potentially in development which game would be more exciting for you all? What is your history with these franchises?

Woodman

There's only one question to be asked this week. When is the Andy McNamara interview releasing? Would everyone be willing to share a story about their time around/working for Andy?

TimeBombTom

Greetings Users, simple question, here we go, for the rest of your eating span you can choose to have only one of these as an option appetizers or desserts? Normal meals are still the same its just you can only ever have appetizers or desserts.

CalebMurray

Hey MinnMaxers with the news about Andy McNamara leaving GI for new horizons. I just wanted to throw my hat in with others here who would like to hear some stories from the old days about him if you're willing to share.

Grizzled Gaming

Hey Minnmaxers! It’s no secret that the Minnmax discord is like a little slice of heaven on the internet. But it’s also true that for some people jumping into an already established community can be a little intimidating. If you’ve been on the fence about engaging the community, there is another way to get your feet wet without diving head first into discord. In addition to the discord, there is also a MinnMax PlayStation Community, a MinnMax Xbox Club, and a MinnMax Steam Community all filled with great people to play games with. Just search “Minnmax”, two Ns of course, on any of the platforms. We’d love to have you join us!

With games like The Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, and now the second Last of Us, are we experiencing a Golden Age of video games that rivals the Golden Age of prestige television in terms of cerebral, mature storytelling?

Edgar Vazquez

Hey CLCs, Whats the home project you're most proud of? I recently cleaned out my parents garage which had decades worth of stuff and disorder. Took me a solid month to look through everything, sort it, and throw away anything I thought was trash. By the end, I ended up with like 30 philips and flat head screwdrivers each and so many pencils, pens, and markers. It was very satisfying finally park my car inside the garage! Remember, if they don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy!

Mark Ramirez

What did you all think of that Biomutant 9 minute trailer? (Sorry for double comment)

absurdziggy

Hey Ben, Kyle, Jeff and O'Dell: should we still interact with media that was created by negative people? I'm thinking Woody Allen and Polanski types. If it came out that Kojima was like that would you still re-vist games like Metal Gear Solid or play Death Stranding 2?

Cody U.

With both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 releasing “Holiday 2020” which system do you think we’ll be seeing on shelves first?

Steven Vella

What are some of your favourite games that critically, you would give an average rating to and wouldn't recommend to most people, but in your heart are special gems? Nothing beats the joy of a 7/10 game sometimes. The Saboteur jumps to mind for me.

Jason Wojnar

Since New Pokemon Snap got announced shortly after your show Photomode Snap, can you now please rename the show TimeSplitters Snap or Max Payne Snap? While we're on the topic of Max Payne, why don't you think Rockstar ever remasters games? GTA IV especially would sell gangbusters on PS4 or PS5, and Max Payne 3 would benefit so much from a current or next-gen upgrade, but unless its GTA V they don't seem interested in upgrading old games.

Fred Dinovo

Howdy all, From the guy who brought you "what stale food is best?" (Graham Crackers) comes the next big question: What is the best soggy cereal? My money is on Frosted Mini Wheats, they embiggen from milk and still have the crunch from the frosting. Thanks!

Ben Shively

Hello everyone! What is a game (or games) that have helped you stay in touch with friends or family that you might’ve lost contact with? I have friends from high school that I probably wouldn’t have kept in touch with if it weren’t for games like PUBG and Apex.

Hazal Mohammed

Hey, Folks, I ended up replaying The Last of Us after finishing the sequel, and a question popped into my head at the climax. Was this sequel always planned given that you have no player agency regarding the first doctor? I mean, you have the option to spare the remaining two doctors. But for the game to progress, you have to perform that quick time action with the first doctor. Just a random thought, because when I first played The Last of Us, I always found this choice weird. But with how the sequel unfurls, maybe that choice in the first game actually had a meaning? Eh, just a thought. Hazal Mohammed

Cade Mead

Hi team! Do you have games you wouldn't recommend at full price, but would wholeheartedly recommend picking up on sale? Much love.

Daniel Dwiggins

Hey MinnMax crew! One simple question for you all this week: what game has the best skybox?

Rickfromatlanta

Hi all, after listening to minnfaqs I am wondering do you need to tell all your guests not to fart or curse or is that just for Dan? Is Suriel a notorious farter after all those minnsnacks? Is there anything you have heard in post that amazed you after reviewing the podcast? Thanks

Geoff Enright

Hello Maxxers and Nemesis! Wishing you all the best, and it is wonderful to see a new permanent addition with PokaChee Ana. Anyone here have a strong interest or hobby they try to keep up not revolving around gaming? I'm keeping it general here to include table top gaming. For instance, I try to keep music in my life since I've played instruments since I was a wee lad. I'm continuously trying to be better with playing guitar. - Geoff aka Groffles

Hi guys, just a follow up to a question a few weeks ago about Apple Arcade's success. I don't know how well it's doing from a commercial point of view but as a consumer, for me, it's one of the best deals in gaming. I've played so many excellent games on it like What the Golf? and Sayonara Wild Hearts and great titles are still being released on an almost weekly basis like Little Orpheus from The Chinese Room and Winding Worlds from KO-OP Mode as two recent examples. I'm loving the service!

Hello Cohort of Computer Lovers, My question for you guys is: what is the furthest you have taken or gotten away with with a lie? In my case it was at E3 2017 at Microsoft's press conference. We didn't have a badge for it, but we knew, from previous years, we could wait on the badge pick-up area on the side entrance of the Galen Center that they eventually let people in once show starts and there are seats empty. In 17 however, me - dressed up in a nice blazer to record footage - and my friend who was working the camera heard rumblings they wouldn't let anyone in and the crowd waiting was much bigger than previous years. That's when I saw two PR ladies opening a path for suited-up executives. I looked at my friend, he nodded and we simply attached ourselves to the end of the line, being guided to a backstage pathway, hi-fiving other devs and execs along the way for "our" upcoming announcement of Scorpio. When we found a moment to detach from the crew and go find a seat, the PR person spotted us and insisted we went with her through some curtains and up an elevator. Even when we tried to "go to the bathroom" she waited for us at the bathroom door. We ended-up on the Crackdown 3's dev room, a suite with food and drinks looking down into the crowd only realizing where we were when we heard the others in the room asking "wether it was a giant LCD screen or a projection and if they had optimized the colors of the trailer for it" to someone else. With fear of finding us out, we left the room just to run into a security guard, to whom we came up with a BS excuse of being lost. He called the head of security who was way nicer to us than I'd have expected and simply escorted us back to the waiting press area. Eventually they did let us in, like in previous years, but that short saga makes for one of my best E3 stories

Hey Ben boo and the nutter butter babies, I would just like to say, I agree with Jeff. Days Gone is really good. I played it on and off for over a year. The story and world and characters change so much over time that it felt like seasons to a television show every time I would stop and then jump back in. I think the acting performance from the main character is extremely underrated. I like that game a lot.
