Hello everyone! What is a game that you feel like you’ve completely mastered? I mean the point where you could walk someone through the entire game over the phone. I can say this about Bloodborne and several Resident Evil games. Love the show!

James Burkett

With a discless version of the PS5 and the Series X being a valid option for consumers and now a very practical strategy for both Sony and Microsoft, it's kinda crazy looking back in 2013 that one of the most effective videos out of E3 was the 22 second "How to Share Games on PS4" video where Yoshida just hands a game to Adam Boyes.

Christian Jimenez

Hi MinnMax, If we could have 10 absolute video game commandments, what would they be? Whether in games or the game industry. Here are some ideas to stir the pot. Thou shalt not borrow a game and never return it back (it's happened to me) Thou shalt not make a game with micro-transactions Thou shalt not make games with mandatory cut-scenes or those that cannot be paused Anyway, thanks.

James Pinto

Hello Cohortionists, If all of you were unable to work in the gaming industry anymore, what would you want to do and why?

Grizzled Gaming

Settle the debate once and for all. Is a hotdog a sandwich?

AnAttackCorgi

Hi TiniestUltimate Disciples: With everyone being online for work, then staying online for gaming and following the darker news of the day, we all need a break sometimes. What do you do to unplug from the grid?

Nick from Atlanta

Hello Cohorts! I have for you a game I'm calling Hunter Or Rancher? Below are 10 characters that appear in either Monster Hunter or Monster Rancher. How many can you correctly guess? Tumudillo - Rancher Ahtal-Ka - Hunter Yama Tsukami - Hunter Bethelgeus - Rancher, but I'm a jerk and picked this because there's a Bazelgeuse in Hunter Centauros - Rancher Ukanlos - Hunter Fukazukin - Rancher Tetsucabra - Hunter Gobul - Hunter Kirin - Both, actually! Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

Hey Benfield & Friends™ Game demos used to be more common in the PS1, 2, and 3 era, and I remember playing some weird ones on my 360, like Hour of Victory and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. I think the last 360 demo I ever downloaded was the one for RAGE. Anyway, what are some of the weirdest or most unique game demos you’ve ever played in any era? All the best,

Taylor Owens

For obvious reasons, ever since I played the Final Fantasy VII Remake, I can’t stop giving people the thumbs up. I do it to my boss, my dog, even the hot new guy in my environmental terrorist group when he says that his parents are dead. I just can’t stop! 👍 Have you ever picked up a habit or mannerism from a video game?

Donnie

Hey friends! What’s a genre you think would make for an interesting Battle Royale? I’m a bit tired of shooters and think a medieval twist on it would be refreshing for one idea.

Joe Stone

Hey Ben and the CLCs, Does the new consoles both being backwards compatible mean that the PS5 has already got a huge head start this gen – maybe enough to win it already? I had an Xbox 360 in the previous generation, and when the current gen came around I switched to PS4 because of how much Microsoft botched the Xbox One launch, but also because there was nothing that made me feel like I had to stay invested in the Xbox ecosystem at that point. This time around, I’ve got 300+ games in my PlayStation library which I’ll be able to carry over to the new consoles, so even if the Series X showcase later this month is mindblowing I’ve already invested so much into PlayStation both in terms of time and money that I’m going to get a PS5 to be able to access all my existing content. With PlayStation’s sales lead over Xbox this gen, do you think that will just carry on into the next gen as well? Stay safe, Joe

Whats the best and worst a game has managed to make you personally feel? Not a generic happy or sad moment but something that just so happened to resonate with your personal accomplishments or fears. Love the show.

RJ

Dear Ben and MinnMax Crew, How hard would it be for the MinnMax patrons with your guidance to publish a game in the Switch Store as a MinnMax game ? I feel that the switch store publishes any game and it would be great learning experience. Thanks and keep up the good work. P.S. yeah Leo yeah Vader

Marcus Ault

Do you ever get the "you are now the party owner" message on PS4 after your friends log off and suddenly remember you're a tiny organism on a rock that's hurdling through an infinite void? Because I sure do.

Hello Ben Hanson and the mmmm-bops! I love the game industry, but find myself left out of some discussions because I chose not to play M rated games. I’m just curious about how this is handled at game publications? Are reviewers allowed to decline reviewing specific games for similar preferences? Keep up the amazing work. I was devastated when you left GI, but with Leo joining MinnMax it turns out most of the crew came with you! Glad to be a supporter. PS Secret Hitler and Don’t Mess with Cthulhu are the two best board games. They both have the deceit mechanic, and I think you would love them.

Adam_CW

Hey everyone, In quarantine I decided to replay through Uncharted 1-3. Now I'm playing Uncharted 4 for the first time. The transition going from the ps3 trilogy to the new uncharted has blown a hole in the back of my head. The controls, the little touches, the realistic look of the characters, and the massive detail of each environment in Uncharted 4 makes me feel like I don't deserve to be playing something so amazing. Like it's a dream and at any moment the game is going to crash and be gone forever. My question is, everything is always getting better to the point where it can feel like too much. What does it mean to play the game of the year every year while looking back at classics, knowing we've only gotten better and will only get better? Are video games fleeting? What is gaming? Thanks!

Rickfromatlanta

Hi everyone, With Matthew Kato's recent departure from GI I was wondering if you could share your favorite moment working with him over the years. I only remember him on the podcast from time to time. My favorite moment is that his name reminds me of Mankato where I used to work in MN for a few years and everytime his name was brought up I would think about Minnesota a little bit ya sure ya betcha. Uff Da. Thanks for everything you do.

Lucy Yearwood

If you could have any dissolved developer come back to life which one would it be?

Swiggity Swoo

Played the pilotwings level in smash Bros while on an airplane. Was like being on a plane! A friend of mine used to wear a white hood when he played assassin's Creed.. what if any dorky immersive thing have you done to better enjoy a game?? ( Doesn't have to be on purpose)

Leafeonn (Josh K)

Hello Benjaminnmax and the Cohorts, I have a very simple question for you this week that ive found a lot of divisiveness on. I got this question from a friend in Overblood: Which would you rather swim in? Snow Cone Ice with Syrup or Fettuccine Alfredo? Personally, snow cone ice with syrup.

Beau Bakken

Dearest MinnMax, So I’ve been playin Persona 5 recently, and I hit a moment in the story where Joker’s teacher was teaching the class about grapheme –color synesthesia. It’s essentially a mental thing where in one’s mind numbers and letters and even days of the week are given a distinct color. For example, for me the number 2 is tan, the letter B is yellow, Friday is purple, Duluth is dark green, and coffee tastes grey. The thing that blew my mind from the game and a later Wikipedia search is that I’m in a fairly small percentage of the population that mentally attaches colors to most everything. I’m damn near 40 and all this time I assumed everybody had a color for each day of the week and number, etc. This chalks up another example of a videogame teaching me something, more importantly something about myself! When’s the last time any of you learned something important or noteworthy from a game? -Beau

IanTClark

Hope I’m not stepping on MinnTracks’ toes here: What is your favorite video game soundtrack?

Cade Mead

You all and the GI guys have mentioned Kato flying under a lot of people's games media radar. Are there some other names that some of us out of the know should be aware of? Side note, I'm super stoked to have Leo contributing.

Sincerly, Eric

Hello Ben Hanson and the Fighting Cohorts. Simple question this week. Who do you all Main in Smash? And why do I feel like Hanson is a weird person who plays as Yoshi.

Jaketrix

Hello Ben Solo and the MinnMaxian Falcon crew, First of all, thank you for all that you do! I've been playing and collecting video games for quite sometime now. Recently, I was organizing my collection and shifting things around in my game room. More than a few of my games are a little fancy because they came in a box. Usually the game came with a small art book or maybe a collectible. These boxes are usually just a bit thicker than a normal game case but sometimes they are extra bulky. I rarely ever keep the game in the box when the game (with the case) goes on the shelf. It can take up a lot of shelf space and I'm afraid that it might get slightly crushed between the cases as my collection expands. What do you guys do with your game boxes/collector's editions? Do they hit the shelf with the rest of the games or do you store/display them elsewhere? Also, if any of you have a game room/collection, I would love to see it on the show! Thanks! - Jaketrix Decatur, IL.

Tim Lorow

I started watching the Persona 5 anime on Hulu. While I really enjoyed the game, I could’ve saved a lot of time by just watching the show. Do you have any interest in checking this out?

Woodman

Ben, Ana, Jeff, and Kyle, Let's play a game. You can control entertainment across licenses and corporate boundaries! Congratulations. Your first task: Make the first truly brilliant film adaptation of a video game of your choice. You must choose any living director and pair them to a game. But WAIT! There's a catch. One of your chosen directors films' will be developed into a video game by the same studio whose game they are adapting to film. For example: I'd love to see a Cyberpunk 2077 movie directed by Denis Villenueve (director of Arrival, BladeRunner 2077). The movie of his I'd choose to be adapted by CD Projekt Red would be Dune! An open world, character driven RPG set on Arrakis would be the cat's ass. Hope everyone is staying sane.

Deep Space Trace

I’ve been itching to replay Breath of the Wild, which is odd as I just finished the story about 6 or 7 months ago. Usually I wait at least a year or two to replay a game. I like to forget most, if not everything, before a replay. How long do y’all wait to replay a game? Or do you typically not revisit games at all?

James Smith

Hey Neb Nosnah and the Strohoc (I don't even know anymore), Quick, while Suriel isn't here tell us your favourite thing about Detroit Become Human!

Austin S

With all of the leaks that came with the Last of Us Part 2, it makes me think how I would of reacted to it if I went in with a clean empty slate instead of being spoiled. If you could play and experience any game for the first time again without any context, spoilers, or any background knowledge, what game what would you want to play?

Matt Landers

This isn't a question but I just need to acknowledge how crazy Animal Crossing is. When the game initially released, I picked it up and after a couple of hours, I realized that I do not like this game. So a couple of days later I talked to my sister and she kind of liked New Leaf, so I decided to send the game to her and hoped that maybe she will find some enjoyment with the game. For the past couple of months, I have checked in and she would say things like, "I'm kind of addicted, haha." I just kind of blew it off, as she's playing it a bit more than she normally plays games. Keep in mind, she probably played averaged less than 20 hours per year playing games in her life. So anyway to get to the point of my story, I met up with her on July 4th, and naturally, I brought up Animal Crossing at one point. So then she starts going off about the game and just started showing me her village. Eventually, I had to ask her how many hours she spent with the game and she's played the game for over 265 hours and I can't even fathom that. I was always the weird black sheep of the family who played video games but now in the last 3-4 months, she's probably spent more time playing video games than I have. Sorry about the long-winded story, I just had to tell someone because I still can't get over this.

Is there value in a User Score for games? It seems User Scores, like on MetaCritic, only serves as a way for gamers to punish developers unfairly. It happened most recently with The Last of Us Part 2. Regardless of these attempts, I don’t recall a time when a random gamer’s score influenced my purchase decision or opinion of a game. Do they influence you?

Dunder

Hey Ben and the CLCs, Simple question: Who do YOU want to buy Warner Bros.'s game studios and why?

Joe Dean

Hello Ben and cohorts, When the first Last of Us came out and everyone was raving about its story I decided to watch a commentary free playthrough on YouTube. I did the same thing with its DLC and The Last of Us Part II, and this is because I bounce off all of their games, except Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. I do appreciate a good story, and since that's what everyone raves about I don't feel like I missed out on too much. (Blasphemy, I know.) This made me wonder: are there any games or game series you have decided to watch instead of play and feel that's good enough? Thanks, Joe Dean P.S. Definitely enjoying the Game Club and was wondering if it would be gauche of me to comment on it since I'm not playing it?

Matthew Weatherley

Do you think Ben Reeves will be wearing pants or shorts while hosting the GI show.

Adam Cohen

Hey MinnMax crew! In an attempt at getting better, I've been trying to cut down on my social media time, to avoid so much of the negativity out there. The trouble is that I find myself mindless scrolling through it to fill down time. Do you have any suggestions for how to cut down?

Morne

Hey Ben, Kyle, Jeff and Ana! My question is with regards to gaming apparel and t-shirts. What is your ideal piece of wearable gaming merchandise? Do you like shirts that straight up just have the games logo or do you prefer something different and more subtle. I personally love shirts that only those who have played the game will recognise (a fake company logo etc.) Also, what is your favourite videogame apparel or shirt that you own? - Morne (pronounced Mornay) from South Africa

Jason Wojnar

Hi Friends, Are there any stupid questions journalists should never ask game developers about their games when at events or in one on one interviews? Things that are either impossible to answer or potentially offensive to a studio or the game? From Ukraine With Love, Jason Wojnar

John Scovic

Dearest CLCs, In the age of twitter and internet hot takes, it's very easy for pieces of media to get reduced to two camps: 1/10 or 10/10. Things like The Last Jedi, where it's either your favorite Star Wars movie and you think Rian Johnson is brilliant, or it's an affront to the franchise that ruined your childhood. Similarly (no spoilers!) The Last of Us 2 criticism is being frustratingly boiled down into those two buckets. As an alternative to this simplification, what is a franchise or piece of media you are EXACTLY indifferent about? A popular piece of media that I'M exactly in the middle about is Hamilton. It was fine! Perfectly entertaining, once! Thanks for all the #content. John Scovic, nearish Chicago

Howdy minnisters . Short q from me . Who’s your favourite gaming composer #ripenniomorricone

Prodigal Horse

Hey Minnisters, Me and my son have been trying to get “gud” at Minecraft. A lot of YouTube help and a lot of failed Redstone and we’re doin ok. But damn that manual crop harvesting mechanic is one of the most all round satisfying game mechanics there is. My question is, what other game mechanics offer that much simple satisfaction?

Prodigal Horse

Sorry... another question. It’s been over 12 months and there’s still vitriol online about Game of Thrones, there’s still vitriol about Star Wars and now Last of Us will is the focus of the Hateful Minority. Can we have anything nice? I’m sure it’s easy to say that the creators will brush off the abuse, but it is relentless and poisonous. Is there going to be a lasting impact on the arts when any attempt by a creator to take risks (or be safe in the case of Star Wars) results in prolonged attacks?

FlaminQueso

Hey Howdy Hey Hanson and the 'horts, Last week on the podcast, you discussed what you want from Halo Infinite and it got me thinking, are the expectations for this game absolutely impossible to live up to? No matter what it does, will it be the success that MS needs it to be for the new Xbox? What does Halo Infinite need to do to be deemed a success? Thanks, Queso

Michael Strange

Hello, Hanson and MM Crew: Controllers everywhere and nowhere...analysis paralysis. Need help! In our house we have 2 gaming PCs and I want to consolidate on the same wireless controller to prevent the controller shuffle party as we move from various consoles, handhelds, and the PC. Currently, we have: 1) wired Xbox 360 controller (neither had nor will ever own an Xbox) 1) WiiU pro controller 1) Switch Pro Controller 2) PS3 controllers I know I can set up BlueTooth for the wireless controllers listed above, but then it becomes another level of pain pairing/unpairing as we move around. So, here's the question: Should I buy two PS4 DualShock 4 controllers now and dedicate these to the PCs, or wait until the PS5 launches and buy additional controllers? I believe the DualShock 4 will be compatible with PS5, but not sure that's been confirmed by Sony. Thoughts?

LaRay M. Hare

Hello MinnMax ( 2 Enns), I had a quick question about Game Studio Creation, with the current rumor being that Microsoft might by WB Interactive, what the panel’s consensus on the “best” (or most efficient) way to create good studios? Is it better to naturally build them from the ground up? Poach talent? Or just buy them? Thank you, LaRay M. Hare Aka BluMayhem

Cohorts. The prophecy must be fulfilled. Deadly Premonition 2 for Great GOTY Hunt. Pretty please. Sugar on top.

Tyler Carver

Hello everyone, Serious questions here. Is it possible to eat a taco without all the fixings falling out of the back? I feel like I can never eat a taco without it all just dropping out of the back end. Am I doing it wrong? What is proper taco etiquette? Regards, Tyler

Dan

Hello CLCs! Throughout my gaming life, I've owned at least one version of every major Nintendo platform (including the much-maligned Virtual boy), with one exception: I've never had a Wii U. With so many of the Wii U's best library selections being ported to the Switch, and more supposedly on they way, are there any Wii U exclusives left to justify picking one up on the cheap?

Doreen Ford

Since yall are talking about the Fighting Community and the recent allegations I'm gonna ask a tough question: Once these people are ousted what happens after that? Is there a place for redemption or do they simply go into other unknowing communities and keep being awful? I dont have definitive answers here either by the way, it's a mess and my heart goes out to the survivors and brave folks speaking up.
