Hey MinnMax crew! Got a game for ya, not sure if you’ve done something similar or not. It’s called “Kirby Boss, or Biblical Entity?” I’ve listed a few pairs of names, and in each pair you will have to guess which one is a boss/villain from the Kirby series, and which one is a named angel or demon from Christian and Hebrew scripture. Good luck! Hanson, I’ve listed the correct answers next to each pairing in parentheses. 1) Metatron or Taranza (Angel/Kirby) 2) Magolor or Murmur (Kirby/Demon) 3) Goriath or Jegudial (Kirby/Angel) 4) Armaros or Necrodeus (Angel/Kirby) 5) Legion or Astral Birth (Demon/Kirby) 6) Dantalion or Daroach (Demon/Kirby)

Going off of the last podcast about favorite new IPs of the generation. Here's my top 5. 1. Stardew Valley 2. Yooka Layee (the second game is the best sidescroller of the generation and has my favorite soundtrack of the entire generation) 3. Horizon Zero Dawn 4. Undertale 5. Chuchel (please let there be a sequel) Anyway here's my question, what style of game would you like to come back in a big way with the next generation? For myself with the success of some indies, I hope the Monster Raising genre comes back across all platforms in a big way. Or maybe it's time for the raise of the Farm/life sim games and take center stage as opposed to being niche.

Simple question: When do you think we will get a release date and price for the new consoles? It's nuts that we don't have this info by now.

Tactical Dreamer

Hello friends, To the best of my knowledge Game Pass never gives access to DLC. Do you think that's a part of Microsoft's strategy in making Halo Infinite a platform for the next 10 years? Will future stories within Halo Infinite be paid DLC and thus excluded from the game pass lineup? This seems like a way Microsoft could have their cake and eat it too by selling people game pass for the base Halo Infinite experience while also selling paid expansions. Speculate with me please! Thanks, Tactical Dreamer

Hey there, CLCs! I thought up a little game over the weekend, and I hope you'll enjoy it. I call it "Is it a Kaiju or Medical Terminology?" The rules are simple: for each item, you will have to identify whether or not the given item is - you guessed it - a kaiju or just medical jargon. Nobody has to define any terms or say where the monster is from, but that would be insteresting if they could. As such, I've included a brief definition/movie of origin, just in case :) 1. Afebril (medical - "not feverish") 2. Ganimes (kaiju - "Space Amoeba") 3. Servum (kaiju - "Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters") 4. Emesis (medical - "process of vomitting") 5. Kwashiorkor (medical - "protein malnutrition") 6. Gamera (kaiju - "Gamera") Thanks, and hope y'all have a great day!

Hey Hi Hello, It's time to play "How Well Does OpenCritic Know that Critic?" Or "Do these Critics Know these Critics" I found the top 3 rated games on Open Critic by our three lovely game critics, Kyle, JeffM and Suriel, also the lowest 2. You get a point for each game named right and a bonus for the score. Probably easiest for everyone to guess one at a time and maybe play with a 5 strikes your out guideline. Kyle Hilliard Zelda Breath of the Wild : 10 Inside : 9.8 Hyper Light Drifter: 9.5 Skyrim VR : 5 Fe : 5.5 JeffM Until Dawn : 9 Horizon Zero Dawn : 8.8 Helldivers : 8.5 1-2-Switch : 4 Armikrog : 4 Suriel, my personal favorite Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 : 9.25 Monster Hunter World : 9.25 Dragon Ball FighterZ : 9.25 Albino Lullaby : 48/100 This Book is a Dungeon : 5

Howdy! What's the coolest thing you've won at an auction?

What game would a game creator have to make to force you to ignore what they do next? For me it was Peter Molyneux with the Fable Kinect game

Hi folks, First time submitting a question - long time viewer from GI days and followed you to Patreon. Got a big broad question for you... was talking to a friend about MinnMax the other day, and using it as a good example of a much better experience for the viewer as well as (hopefully) the content creator. feels good to support a small operation that you have (some small) ownership in, and can be more actively involved in (even if in my case I don't ever really interact in the Dischord or minnFAQs) The Patreon model is fairly new but many prominent game journalists have moved to this model and this feels like it fixes a fundamental conflict with a creative quarter of the industry - creators want ownership and direct interaction with their consumers. Going into next-gen, can game companies change their model to fix some of their problems? Could employee-ownership of a game studio squash crunch, for example? more broadly, what business innovation are you hoping to see going into next-gen? Cheers, Eddy K from Sunny London

Hi MinnMax Crew. Thanks for all the great content. I always enjoy listening to you all and really love the positivity! Quick question: I was recently playing some older games with my kids and quickly came to realize that some games I loved as a kid don't exactly hold up in the fun factor when compared to newer games... my 12-year-old quickly became bored playing older NES games. With that in mind, if you could bring one game from your childhood forward to today, with new gameplay and control mechanics, which game would you choose? Obviously games like Mario, Tetris, Pac-Man, and the like, already have many iterations and probably wouldn't apply to this question. Elaborate with details if you have any! Can't wait until this COVID BS is over so we can have another meet-up. Stay cool. Stay healthy. -Mars

Hey Merrill and company! I’ve seen a lot of people saying Sony is being anti consumer with Spider-Man being an exclusive character on Marvels Avengers. Does this ring true to you? I know back on Soul Caliber two I believe you got an an exclusive character on whatever system you bought, link was for GameCube. (I’m not sure about the other systems characters) I don’t feel like this is any different, thoughts?

Sincerly, Eric

Hey guys! What's your favorite kind of bread?

Joe Stone

Hey Ben and the CLCs, Previous console generations have usually seen one of the manufacturers declared the ‘winner’ and one the ‘loser’ – mostly based on hardware sales and general fan sentiment. With Sony and Microsoft this gen seemingly having wildly different goals – Sony keeping their focus on selling hardware and first party exclusives, and Microsoft focusing more on getting Game Pass users across a range of platforms (Series X, Xbox One, PC and soon mobile devices via xCloud) – will it mean an end to the debate on who ‘wins’ the generation? You can’t win or lose if you’re not in the same race. And do you think that was a conscious decision by Microsoft to try and lessen the comparison between the two? Love you byeeeeeee, Joe

Evening cohorts - It's time once again to play America's fastest growing game show sensation - 'Colon, Nolan, Double or Trouble'. I will name a video game and you have to decide if it is Colon (has a colon in the title), Nolan (features the voice from Nolan North), Double (has both a colon in the title AND voice acting from Nolan North) or Trouble (none of the above, no colon and no Nolan North). For Hanson - answers are in [brackets] after the game title. Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale  [Nolan] Monster Hunter: World  [Colon] Injustice: Gods Among Us  [Double] Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege [Trouble] Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.  [Colon] Crash Tag Team Racing  [Nolan] Star Wars Battlefront II (2017) [Trouble] Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005)  [Colon] Destroy All Humans! Big Willy Unleashed  [Nolan] Lego Jurassic World  [Nolan] Skylanders: Giants  [Double] Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds  [Double] The Order: 1886  [Colon] Super Smash Bros Ultimate  [Trouble] Counter-Strike: Global Offensive  [Colon] Horizon Zero Dawn  [Trouble] Detroit: Become Human  [Colon] Disney Infinite 3.0  [Nolan] XCOM2: War of the Chosen  [Double] Red Dead Redemption II  [Trouble] Thanks Bob Buel

Hello Minnius Maximus crew! Have you ever played a game demo that really had you interested in a game, but never actually played the full game? On the other hand, have you played a demo that persuaded you to buy the game, then realized that the demo was the best part of the game?

t00thr0t

Hey console loving cohorts, I’ve never really played a Devil May Cry game but recently gave DMC 5 a shot on Game Pass and was blown away, thoroughly enjoyed it. Now I’m looking forward to digging through the other games! Do you have a game series that you tried out late and then retroactively fell in love with?

Doreen Ford

I've been watching a streamer fight a secret boss in Kingdom Hearts 3 DLC and it's impressively difficult and yet still feels rewarding when you're doing well. What's the most difficult but rewarding boss you've fought in video games?

Fizz

Here’s a question, with an Xcloud date set and Microsoft pushing gamepass as a pivotal part of their next-gen strategy, how do you see it evolving over time? Aside from the stable of developers they have working on gamepass games right now, do you think Microsoft is going after streaming rights for old IP to make available anywhere through the Xcloud/gamepass combo? Do I want a Netflix for games or will I end up scrolling for 90 minutes then just boot up red dead 2 again?

Jay Purrington

Hey d00ds, hope you're all well. Hanson, that interview with Mitcher Dyer was great! I remember seeing him on IGN vids and didn't even know he moved into the development side. This sparked a question for y'all. If you could work on the development side of games, what would be your dream position? What franchises/studios would you want to work for? Doesn't matter if you even know the name of the position, can be anything from Creative Director to the person who stocks the fridge. Thanks, love the show! PS: Got to cancelling some lingering subscriptions and up'd to the $20 tier! Who needs Audible when you got quality podcast content?

ImABiggyBoi

Miyamoto has done it! He's uncovered the secrets of the afterlife! When you pass on, you are born to two video game characters of your choosing. Idk man, concepts are weird. Let's just get into it! Who are your new parents?

Brad Grenz

Hey Minnimized Maximals, This week people got mad about PS5 controllers. This is strange as every new console generation in the history of the industry has required a new controller to play new games. It has literally always worked this way, so why is this now considered "controversial"? Apparently because Microsoft was too lazy or too cheap to do anything other than add a share button to the Series X controller. Microsoft wants to make it as easy as possible for anyone on any device to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass with xCloud. That's all well and good, but it is ultimately about minimizing the barrier of entry to their ecosystem in order to maximize revenue. By contrast Sony's goal was clearly to use advances in technology to improve and innovate what is possible in game design, in part through a new, feature-packed controller. In my mind, the dogged refusal by Xbox to include what otherwise would be industry standard controller features, like gyro sensors and included rechargeable batteries, without having the common courtesy to even pass those savings onto users, is far more "anti-consumer". The worst part is innovations like gyro aiming are long overdue, and ironically even MS knows this. They JUST recently released a video that explores how their touch control designs for xCloud incorporate gyro inputs for mobile devices to enhance precision. So how is it that Microsoft's strategy is being viewed as "progressive" when they are the ones actually holding back new experiences, while Sony is painted as "stuck in the past" for wanting to charge money for futuristic hardware?

Adam Cohen

Hey MinnMax crew. What's an existing fictional universe in another medium (movies, TV, books) that you think would translate well into a video game?

FlipTheUsbTwice

Hi. I wanted to hear your thoughts on the recent Avengers game controversy. I believe this game is a big middle finger to all Marvel fans that don't own a playstation, and it seems that SE just doesn't care. Having a playstation exclusive Spiderman ps4 skin would be a totally natural and okay thing to do. I don't think anyone would argue that. But locking an entire character that'll provide maybe 20hrs worth of content, is just disgusting. And to make it worse, playstation users will gain access to other things as well. - 30 day early access to a legendary outfit, emote, nameplate and takedown for each hero released. Base game and post launch. - a free bundle for all post launch characters which includes, a rare outfit, nameplate, 1000 credits (I'm guess is the MTX currency) so money, - Free exclusive outfit for Ms. Marvel. This game won't be out for another month and it already smells like pure greed. This is a sad and pathetic excuse of an Avengers game and one that I won't be buying.

KratosRager

Hey CHCs, Taking a question from an Omega Cops (Game Scoop) episode, what game developer and/or game series do you have full trust in and will always buy their games? One of mine is Platinum Games. I loved Nier Automata and Vanquish and I wanted Scalebound. Now I’m excited for Babylon’s Fall and Project G.G.

Merlin Price

Howdy, I've always been fascinated by karma systems in video games but never felt that the idea was fleshed out enough, particularly with games that let you re-incarnate when you die. How would you guys improve the systems or add things to make negative and positive interactions with game mechanics/environments more interesting/fleshed out?

Steven Lambson

Hey Ben and the crew, In high school, I was sent to the principal's office for organizing our senior prank. While the principal lectured me about how seniors need to be leaders and set examples for the younger students, I couldn't help but burst out laughing and couldn't stop. Seven years later, I still don't why I couldn't stop laughing. In your life, when was the most inappropriate time you burst out laughing? Best- Sean M.

Tim Lorow

Wow, Leo, great job on the bidding today. Spending $1 on a bunch of hidden gems is a winning strategy. Can you believe Ben spent so much on a game that might not even come out this year?

infinitesoup

Hello MinnMates! (on second thought that sounds too much like inmates) If you were to take any item or tool from a video game to use in everyday life, what would it be? Would you use a hookshot to help you clean your gutters or a Mario mushroom to intimidate your neighbors!? Thanks crew!

James Smith

Hello Ben Bridges and the Strand Crew, If you were in a Kojima game, what would your name be?

Geoff Enright

No question this week, just know you're the best, I appreciate all you do. Sending positivity everyone's way!

Shawn Mills

Hello computer loving clickers! My brother was playing through the last of us recently and got really frustrated with the combat. He ended up quitting early on but he watched the cutscenes on youtube to get the story which he really enjoyed. Are there any games you would prefer to watch the cutscenes for instead of playing? Thanks for all you do!

Chree McGee

Hey Bean Hanson and the Flatulent Four, If you had 20 Nintendo fans, 20 Sony fans, 20 Microsoft fans, and 20 PC fans locked in a cage match, which fanbase do you think would be left standing at the end of the fray, and why? Love, McGooch

Joe Dean

Hey baby boys, I've played a lot of Fall Guys today, and I wanted to ask what do you think the inside of the titular Fall Guys is like? Is it full to bursting with blood? Maybe it's exactly like a jelly bean? Or perhaps it's something darker... Thanks

Morne

Hello to the 4 Amigos What is your go-to, weapon combination in shooter games? For me, I always like to carry an assault rifle as my primary with usually a shotgun as my secondary.

Jason Wojnar

My question is for Kyle, Are you considered a cool dad because of your job? Are your daughter's friends impressed when they learn you play and write about video games, or do they just not care?

Donnie

Hey friends! What’s your take on PlayStation getting Spider Man as exclusive on the Avengers game? For clarity, Sony only owns the movie rights, and Spider-Man has appeared in games on other consoles like MvC. I have both Xbox and PS and never intended on getting this game. It still rubbed me wrong. I think it’s that it’s not just say the Insomniac skin that’s exclusive. That would’ve been neat. This is essentially an entire chunk of gameplay that others can’t have. Besides how you feel about it, what’s your take on the marketing side? I can’t imagine they didn’t expect the backlash. Ok thnx byyyyeeeee

Ryan Besadny

Well hello there! Playing through TLOU2 and Ghost back to back was a pretty big increase to my normal gaming time. My hands have gotten sore as a result. Have any of you suffered gaming related injuries? Repetitive motion? Flying wii-mote to the face? How have these impacted your gaming life?

Tyler Carver

Hey y’all Brandon Sanderson has a book series called Mistborn that utilizes a magic set called Allomancy. The magic requires the user to “burn metals” inside of their bodies like tin, copper, aluminum, and others to enhance ones physical attributes or even manipulate forms of “flight.” I feel like that’s something that would translate incredible well into a game format, using metals as consumables to enhance your physical abilities, and the gameplay loop would be wild. With that being said, are their any settings, story elements, or magic sets that you wish somebody could or would adopt into a game to change up the format and add a new type of system? Hope this finds you well, Tyler (Itsmajorpanda)

Fred Dinovo

Howdy crew, What do you think is more beloved: Star Wars movies or all other Star Wars media (TV Shows, books and Games)? If you want, feel free to break out TV shows into their own separate category. This is the question you're looking for, thanks! Fred

Taylor Whitt

Can we talk a minute about brevity? I have to be honest, here…as a $5 Patreon subscriber, I am overwhelmed by the amount of content MinnMax dishes out every week. I should be excited about Leo Vader joining the team (which, ultimately, I am), but instead I feel anxious about having to track with a whole new category of content. Am I the only one here who feels this way? Can someone tally up the hours of content to be consumed each week? 3+ hours alone on the MinnMax Show alone. Then, add several more hours from video content, MinnFaqs, Interviews, Max Spoilers, Deep Dives, GOTY Hunts, BetterQuest. How am I supposed to keep up and contribute to community discussion, or even engage in Discord!? I currently have 30 episodes in my MinnMax podcast library waiting to be listened to (after deleting many that were too old and irrelevant), and am about 8 weeks behind on content. This means that I completely missed out on contributing to the Last of Us 2 spoiler discussion, about which I would really have loved to post questions and comments. My hope in joining this community was for it to supplement and enhance my gaming experience, not replace it. I’d be curious if the MinnMax team has had discussions about being more concise with the content, and I’d also like to know if others in the community have similar feelings about the overwhelming content. Or, if not, I’d like to know how others are consuming the MinnMax content. Do you just keep episodes on play all day, while gaming, while working, etc? Please take this as a positive criticism, I still love you guys. And if you’ve entertained my comment thus far, you can tell that brevity isn’t my strong suit, either. Having too much content is arguably a good problem to have, and brings immense value to your paid subscribers. If I may propose a solution…In future shows, create a short segment for the latecomers, for those with less time to keep up with content each week, the MinnLaxers one might call us. This would allow someone like me to pose a question or comment on a 4 week old episode, and ultimately it keeps that part of the community engaged and relevant.] Thanks guys, Taylor Whitt Nashville, TN

DJ Tommy Pizza

Hi Hanson and the Minnesota Two-N’s, How bonkers is it that the Hitman twitter account gave Leo’s Watch Later a shoutout? Was happy to see this little bunch of computer-loving cohorts get recognition, keep up the good work! Thanks, Tommy

Bezlo

Hey guys! Quick question for you. What game do you absolutely love, but have never finished? Mine is Final Fantasy 9. I love everything about it, but have never been able to finish it. Thanks for being awesome and helping us all be better! Bezlo.

MisterNomer

Hey guys. Here is a potentially interesting question: Which game or games do you guys regret finishing? (in a positive or negative way) Games that wish you hadn’t finished for either being too good that didn’t want it to end OR that you wish you hadn’t have bothered with all the way to the end but couldn’t let it go? These can be games that you reviewed professionally or played in your own personal capacity. Thanks for the great show and constantly amazing content! Mirko

Noah D.

Hi minn of maxers, I’ve been thinking a lot about the Halo Infinite reveal and the controversy around the graphics. I personally could care less as long as the gameplay is fun to play. I realize it’s a work in progress and that many graphical assets are still being worked on. There’s no doubt that the game will look better than the demo when the it finally releases. My question to you is, what game do you think had the best graphical upgrade from demo/early trailers to final release? All the best, Noah D- Los Angeles

Chris Lytikainen

Hello MinnMaxers! I almost had that Photomode Snap!! One day... I remember hearing on last week's podcast that Kyle loved BTBAM (Between the Buried and Me), which is awesome cause that band shreds. It got me thinking of when I discovered them and found my path through a lot of different metal. As a huge metalhead, I thought I would be able to dive into some very different stuff without a huge hurdle of appreciation, and oh boy was I wrong when I hit Doom/Stoner metal. I couldn't understand it at first until someone at a SLEEP show looked at me blitzed out of his mind, held up metal horns, and said, "Tune low, and play slow." It put a huge grin on my face and I went full-on with the genre and now I'm even doing promo artwork for some local groups. My question for y'all is what music genre or band could you not get into until a comical moment made it click for you?

RJ

Hey MinnMax Crew, Star Wars Question : Ray Shields ? Why didn’t the Sith invest more in them ? They stopped Anakan and Obiwan in a “peaceful” way ? Thoughts ?
