With Fall Guys season 2's new medieval theme launching only 2 months after release and with Mediatonic expressing long-term commitment to the game in Hanson's interview, Fall Guys is likely to receive dozens of themes before all is said and done. What are some themes everyone would like to see in future seasons? (Personally I'd love to see them make the most out of their Twitter flirtations with CD Project Red by creating a Cyberpunk theme, whether officially branded or not. I think the juxtaposition between two such wildly differing aesthetics would be entertaining in its absurdity.)

Grizzled Gaming

Hey gang! What’s something you really resent paying for?

Nick from Atlanta

Hello CLCs! What game do you think has the best redemption story this generation? I don't mean the story within the game, I mean the game itself. I decided to jump back onto No Man's Sky a couple of days ago, and it's really hooked me with all the content it has now. Even things like Rainbow Six Siege have had launches that were fine, but really found their stride as time goes on. Thanks, Nick from Atlanta

Steven Lambson

I finished the Control AWE DLC recently and I really like the way Remedy designed the Service Weapon. Having a weapon be able to change forms for what ever play style you desire is awesome, plus it looks so cool. The Service Weapon in the codex entries has taken on more forms than just guns however. If you became the Director of the FBC what forms other than guns would you want your Service Weapon to take? Fork, back scratcher, skateboard?

Hello all! I have a little game for you guys called "List Off or Piss off!" (it's a working title). I'll give you a word and then you all have to list a game title that begins with that word. If you can't come up with a title, Piss Off (i.e. you're out). The round repeats until only one person is remaining. Use Metacritic as your source of checking if a title is legit or not. Here are the words: Sonic, Dead, Yoshi, Pokemon, Call.

Tactical Dreamer

Hello friends, Where do you all pick up your game news? My daily games news source recently shut down and I need my daily news fix. Thanks, Tactical Dreamer

Chris Lopez

Hello Ben and the Cohorts! What game have you rented multiple times, but never actually bought? When I was younger, I rented Wizards and Warriors for the NES every couple of months for a long time. I finished it every time, so I guess I never felt the need to buy it. Thanks!

Ben Shively

Hey everyone! Quick question, with moving being a recent topic in the MinnMax universe, does anyone have any crazy moving stories to share?

Bob Buel

I have an experiment for you CLCs, Close your eyes and imagine you are playing with little green army-man toys outside with a niece or a nephew. And you have to pretend like your toy is shooting, so you need to make pretend machine gun noises with your mouth. What mouth noises would you make? I ask this because there is a social theory that I firmly believe in that everyone's sound effect they would make for playing machine gun noises is unique to them. Whether a rat-a-tat-tat-tat or a deep dup-dup-dup-dup-dup or a brrrrrrzzzzzzzzzt noise, everyone does the noise differently. None of them right, none of them wrong. But totally unique. I find it so fascinating that this one sound has so many variations and all sound right.

Yo Cohorts! What's up! So, the other day, a song came on my phone from Far Cry 5, a game I've never even touched, but I really enjoy the cultist music from it. It's a weird sentence, I know, but the particular song is way more haunting and beautiful then it has any right to be. But it got me thinking. Has there ever been a piece of media that you have enjoyed aspects of without ever experiencing that media itself? Or are completely uninterested in outside of that one thing? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6RIoczZ9JQ Here's the song by the way if anyone wants to check it out for themselves!

Super_DAC

Hey MinnMaxers. If you had to experience life through a different POV like 3rd person, top down, side scrolling, etc which would it be and why?

Donnie

Hey friends! Have any of you ever entered any video game-related contests? Cyberpunk 2077 just started an art contest where the piece has to have the iconic jacket in the center and I’ve started working on something for it! There’s lots of great amateur concept artists out there so I know I won’t get one of the top three to win but it’s a great excuse to break out my Wacom tablet again

Adam Cohen

Hello MinnMaxers, First off, I'd like to just say, regarding my question last week, I am in fact, not a dog. I was looking at my dog recently, and the thought of "could I get a message to someone if I was turned into a dog" popped into my head. My question this week... A lot of attention gets put on XBOX Game Pass, and rightfully so, but no one seems to talk about PS now. I don't think they're quite at the same level, but PS Now is still a pretty good deal. Why isn't it talked about more, either by Sony or games media?

Spencer Botine

Cohorts! Do you focus on one game at a time to play, or do you rotate through two or more? I find I play a couple at a time of opposing styles: for instance, I’m currently juggling between Cuphead and Spiritfarer.

Sincerly, Eric

Hello Ben, Kyle, Jeff, and Mr. Suriel! The new Mini-Doc-Series on Netflix, (High Score I believe it is called) is it any good? I plan to set aside my three day weekend to watch it. My actual question revolves around it however. What is your favorite Video Game History Lore? Such as Final Fantasy carrying that name because it may have been the Companies last video game (there is a grain of truth to this I'm told.) Or Mario being named Mario because of the Warehouses Landlord. Any fun trivia to share? Thank you all, have a rad weekend!

Brady Easter

Hello hello MinnMaxers! I've got a new game for you that I hope you'll enjoy. It's called COSTLY CLOSE CALL! Here are the rules: I'll give you an item you can purchase in a game along with the game and in game cost. I'll then give you two real world countries. Your job is to pick which country's cost of that item is closest to the one in the game. (Try it out. I think you'll get it after the first round. We'll start with something you all talked about on the podcast a little while ago.) ITEM: Nintendo Switch GAME: Animal Crossing: New Horizon COST: 29,980 bells COUNTRY 1: Japan COUNTRY 2: South Korea CLOSEST: Japan, 31,788 yen (South Korea, 355,914 won) ITEM: Shotgun Shell GAME: Resident Evil 4 COST: 120 pesetas COUNTRY 1: Mexico COUNTRY 2: Honduras CLOSEST: Honduras, 20 lempira (Mexico, 17 pesos) ITEM: Green Apple GAME: Elder Srolls V: Skyrim COST: 3 gold COUNTRY 1: China COUNTRY 2: Egypt CLOSEST: China, 5 yuan (Egypt, 11 pounds) ITEM: Coconut Milk (carton) GAME: Pokemon: Sword/Shield COST: 950 Pokemon dollars COUNTRY 1: Jamaica COUNTRY 2: Australia CLOSEST: Jamaica, 440 dollars (Australia, 4 dollars) ITEM: Cup Noodles GAME: Final Fantasy XV COST: 220 gil COUNTRY 1: Russia COUNTRY 2: South Africa CLOSEST: Russia, 21 rubles (South Africa, 5 rand) ITEM: Milk (half gallon) GAME: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time COST: 10 rupees COUNTRY 1: India COUNTRY 2: Sri Lanka CLOSEST: India, 146 rupees (Sri Lanka, 372 rupees) ~ Hope you guys had fun. Thank you for all the content you create and the community you've built! Brady E Edmond, OK

Hi Cohorts, Please help me tackle my backlog! I realized that there are a number of game trilogies for which I have played only the first game in the series, but not the other two. Specifically, these are: Crash, Spyro, Darksiders, Ace Attorney, Zero Escape, Danganronpa, Batman Arkham, Halo, and Bioshock. I enjoyed all of these first games, and I intend to complete all of these trilogies. My question to you is; which game should I play next, and how should I go about finishing them? Should I play all of the second games in these series before moving on to any of the third entries, or should I go through the second and third games in a series before moving on to the next one - or something else? Thank you, love the show!

Sir Phobos

Salutations you magnificent MinnMaxamillions, While watching some Avengers gameplay a question popped in my head that I’d like you fine gents to weigh in on. Do the Avengers get paid or use a government credit card? They have to eat and buy other necessities. Does the government flip the bill, are they getting a paycheck or do they just get stuff “on the house” cause they’re the Avengers?

Jeremy C.

Helllllooooo Ben and the cohorts, In regard to the conversation about mascots, the only one I can think of as new and for this generation is Astro Bot for Playstation 4 and now the PS5. Outside of that my question is, why aren't there more games that have a section to re-watch in game cinematics? Nioh 2 is the most recent that comes to mind, but not much else. There are times when i want to rewatch the cinematics for different reasons, missed some dialouge, want to rewatch for a detail or to catch up after not playing for a while. You can't always find these cinematics on youtube, especially some of the non-popular games, and it would great to see this option more than we do. Keep up the great work!

Sam Morrow

Good day MinnMaxers! What is the most mundane thing you have to do in a video game that is actually fun in real life? Can anything rival having to eat in a survival game vs the thrill of GETTING to eat in real life? Perhaps a bland crafting system in a game vs making something with your hands in real life?

Ben

Hey guys hope everyone is well. Whenever people debate about what makes a good open world the things often tossed around are side quests like Witcher or free form exploration like BOTW but I think there's an unsung factor: strangeness. after stalling in the third act of Ghost of Tsushima I went back to red dead redemption 2 and was struck by how unrelentingly strange the world was, filled with things sometimes heartbreaking and often inexplicable. Vampires stalking the city, aliens, burial grounds and metallic Frankenstein monsters lurking in the mountains, little vignettes of weirdness and loneliness permeate the vast frontier. i found all this to be far more compelling than the chirp of the Golden birds of tsushima leading me to a place Tha I can reasonably predict the contents of. maybe it's just a scope or budget thing but I didn't realize how tired I was of the exploration in Tsushima. Do you guys have any preferences for the weirdness of open world games? Thanks

Adam_CW

Hey fellas, Do you guys have any food/media rituals you participate in? Is there a certain day of the week you eat a special meal and watch the newest episode of your favorite program? Do you stock up on gamer fuel before an anticipated game comes out like a true gamer? For me, On Wednesday nights I like to make chicken shu-mai and chicken dumplings, pair it with dr.pepper, and watch the great GOTY hunt on youtube. It's one of my favorite ways to relax. Thanks!

Thom Blackburn

Hi Ben, CLCs, and mystery studio! What sort of future do you think episodic games have on the next gen? Without telltale, are these destined to to die off? Will gamepass/ps now save them? Thanks, Thom

GreenMountainState

Helllooooo MinnMax Panel, I've seen you all do a few live reactions videos and was wondering what game or type of announcement would have to be shown that would make you individually fall out of your chairs in excitement? Likewise, has there been a previous announcement that you can remember losing your mind over? Cheers!

Brian Paradis

Hey CLCs, With the recent Apple/ Epic Games fight over app store policy and the upcoming Xbox Series X and PS5 launches, I have been digging into the business of the games industry. I have been following the business of games as a pastime for a long time and there are times that I care more about the strategies behind product development and launches than actually playing the games themselves. It made me wonder, do any of you have elements of gaming or media that you care as much, if not more about than the products? Thanks, Brian Pair-a-dice (Paradis)

Aaron Hurd

Hello Maxers, What are your thoughts on numbering conventions for sequels? Personally, I hate it when a series skips a number. For instance, Dragon Age 4 has been announced when there was no Dragon Age 3. Since they called the previous installment dragon age inquisition, the next one should have been dragon age 3. I like it when subtitled entries are treated as separate from the numbered installments, like assassin creed 2, then brotherhood, then 3, etc. The Battlefield series also does it well, with tons of games but only 5 numbered installments. Do you guys care or am I just crazy??

Jared B

After playing the full game of Avengers for a couple hours I have been enjoying it quite a bit. Where as I REALLY dislikes the beta and found. So this made me think. What are some of the worst demos/betas when compared to the full game?

Tim O

hi everyone! I'm want to know if you all can think of games that deserve a remakes but not just beloved old games. what games had such a good theory or were just executed poorly that they deserve a second chance?

Jay Purrington

Hey y'all, I wanted to get your take on an Op-Ed written by Ethan Gach over at Kotaku. This article titled "Maybe Just Delay Next-Gen Already" was brought to my attention during Kinda Funny's PS I Love You Show. Basically, the article calls for a reality check on the demand/need for the new boxes in the midst of the S-Storm we all know 2020 has been. I know this is an opinion piece and I get where Ethan is coming from, but at the same time, I can't help but find it a bit offensive. On some level, it feels like a guilt trip directed at people excited to buy the consoles. There really doesn't seem to be any practical reason for his call to delay in my mind, other than "I'm too distracted to get one - so no one should get one. other things are more important" For me, the prospect of having next-gen in my hands has been one of the very few things to look forward to this year. Should I feel bad about that? I have the ability to participate in an economy that needs participation and while, yes, there are far more important things, I don't think that means there's no room to enjoy something. These things are selling out regardless. What do y'all think? Are you still excited? Hope everything's going well with the move! Hello hello hello, I hope all is well with everyone, including JeffM my nemesis 😉. I love Sony pushing their games and exclusives to apply photomode, but why do you think Microsoft hasn't been doing the same? It helps with marketing because people freely share their product only playable on their system, and is another selling point to some with the game like a gaming mechanic can be. Some nitche markets but still. - Geoff aka Groffles

ProcyonNumber6

Hey friends, quick question. What is your favorite cliche in media? My favorite is in car chases when someone needs to end the chase they decide to finally shift to a higher gear. Why not do that earlier?!?

Ryan

Hello everyone, after listening to last week’s episode with the game about historical figures in Assassin’s Creed it got me wondering who in our modern history is most likely to end up in a future game in the series? By modern, I mean the past thirty years or so, in case you need a cut off point.

The Diddler

What’s with all the hate regarding Avengers micro transactions? All the current cosmetics are optional and does absolutely nothing to impact the game. Avengers also announced actual story mission “dlc” , with cutscenes, during their War Table. Isn’t that awesome that it’s free? Remember Borderlands, Destiny, and other games announced paid dlc before launch? Were people angry? Destiny’s next expansion is what? $50? And don’t they still have a marketplace on top of that? And the people that are screaming “why isn’t all content free” are the same people with Patreon pages for exclusive “optional” content. Most of those people won’t touch Avengers once Cyperpunk, Assassins Creed, COD, and whatever other game comes out. The people that play Avengers everyday will get all the content for free anyway. People will argue “you can never get all the content in the game unless you go to a retailer, pay money, etc”. Well, I have over 300 hours logged into MK11. I still don’t have all skins. Oh well

MickManga

Hope all you Computer loving cohorts are doing well. I had an odd question. With video games having players jumping as part of their gameplay. It made me wonder if you could jump as well as one of the following 3 animals in real life which would you choose,a Frog, Rabbit or Grasshoper?

FlaminQueso

Howdy Hanson and the OG CLC’s, Huge congrats to Kyle and the new gig! I was bummed to hear that Gaming Ride Home came to an end, but it’s super great to hear more good things for Kyle, especially such a new direction in the games industry. This new job got me thinking, if each of you had to help lead the development of a game, what sort of game would you be most excited to developer first? Thanks, Greg FlaminQueso

skatestreets.game

When was the last time you guys became crazy string-on-a-wall detectives discovering the links between game developers? Were there any connections you found in people who worked on games you love that blew your mind? I've been deep-diving into the history of developer Love-de-Lic, made of ex-Square employees involved in Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, Romancing SaGa and more. These people made the incredible MOON (which just got it's first outside-Japan release in a Switch port) then two more games (UFO & L.O.L.) before disbanding into three different companies with insanely interesting portfolios: Vanpool - makers of Endonesia, the Zelda TINGLE spin-offs, 3DS' Dillon's Rolling Western series AND their founder Taro Kudo wrote Paper Mario Origami King! Skip Ltd - the Chibi-Robo games, Giftpia and Captain Rainbow (featuring Mario's Birdo and other Nintendo cameos). Punchline - PS2 horror Rule of Rose and kissing adventure Chulip (the director of which founded OnionGames who recently did DANDY DUNGEON and BLACK BIRD on Switch before the MOON port)! Furthermore, key Love-de-Lic alum were involved in Little King's Story, niche DS JRPG Contact and often worked with Grasshopper, ie Chulip's director produced No More Heroes 1 & 2. There are so many ideas, art-styles and bizarre charms that carry through all these games from Love-de-Lics not largely discussed legacy that are sooo much fun to discover and connect. Would love to know if you guys have played any of these games (think Kyle played Dandy Dungeon?) and hiiighly recommend Moon as a genius PS1 90s RPG parody full of heart.

Hello Cohorts! In the olden days of 2015, Game Informer had an awesome feature called “The Essentials” where every week a GI editor would contribute a game that they considered “required reading” for gamers. Below is that list of 14 games (or at least that is how many I believe there are from Google searches cause the GI website’s hub is broken) and the editors that made the contributions. Can the cohorts guess (or remember) the 14 games on the Essentials list? (Bonus points if you can say which editor added the game) • Zelda: A Link to the Past (Mike Futter) • Super Mario 64 (Shea) • Bioshock (Miller) • Metal Gear Solid (Kyle) • Half-Life (Kyle) • Left 4 Dead (JeffM) • Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (Kyle) • The Last of Us (Miller) • Resident Evil (Tim) • Final Fantasy 7 (Juba) • Chrono Trigger (Kim) • Shadow of the Colossus (Kyle) • Street Fighter 2 (Cork) • Doom (JeffM) Thanks for all you do! P.S. Why did Kyle get so many bites from this apple? Not that I mind cause I agree with all of his inclusions but I find it funny and interesting

oddishy

How many animals can JeffM name that have not been made into Pokemon?

Matthew Weatherley

G'day Minnmaxers I recently purchased and played A Short Hike after your glowing recommendation. I now have no pants on because that game charmed them right off me. I would have never bought this game without your recommendation as it didn't seem like anything special and the art style did not appeal to me. What was the last game you played purely on someone's reccomendation and it turned out to be great. Also have you considered a Minnmax selects segment every month where the minnmax hosts suggest a must play game that we may have overlooked otherwise.

Doreen Ford

OK, so I casually watch wrestling (as in WWE) Youtube videos with my partner sometimes and I still find it enjoyable and entertaining (if a bit mind-numbing, but hey it's comfort food!) . Thing is, she laughs because she sees the punches as so obviously fake which annoys me because I'm 1) nowhere near as perceptive and 2) everyone knows it's "fake" (real injuries but choreographed, etc.) so it doesn't seem funny to me. What's an interest of yours that you find fascinating but someone you showed it to thought was funny or reacted to it differently than you?

James Smith

Hey Ben Oddy and the Bird Watchers, Can any of you whistle?

Chuck Emmett

Hey Ben & CLCs, did any of you catch the Nvidia conference on Tuesday? I personally am much more excited about the next generation of Graphics cards than I am the next generation of consoles. Do you follow PC hardware at all or enjoy putting together gaming systems? If so, what gets you excited about a new generation of CPU or GPU? And finally, to RGB or not to RGB? Thanks!

Tadatoo

Guten Tag Minnmax, Is there a skill you once had that you do not have anymore? For example, I used to be able to whistle and I can no longer do so. Auf Wiedersehen!

Tanner Hoisington

Cohorts, can we put to bed the "Games are cheaper than ever before" justification for games rising to $70? It is true that in the 80's games costed way more, but back then gaming was more of a niche hobby. Now it is the largest money making entertainment industry in the world, and that is in part due to the dozens of ways games can earn revenue outside of the initial sale - microtransactions, battle passes, deluxe editions, exclusivity deals, DLC/expansions, remasters, etc. And what has those additions accomplished for Activision and 2K who are leading the price increase? Billions in revenue, tens of millions in CEO salary, and hundreds of devs overworked and underpaid. Don't think this $10 bucks is gonna help them. Lastly I don't think it can be stated enough that $60 per game on top of hundreds for the console is already a lot to ask of the consumer in this country where many lived paycheck to paycheck before coronavirus. I am no economist, but I can't help but feel that more people buying more games for a lower price is better for the industry as a whole than the way we are heading. Sorry this is more of a letter than a question. Wondering what your feelings on this are!

Hans Kleinenberg

Conundrum for y'all: what advice would you give someone who has roughly 14 years of experience in advertising, during which he worked his way up from intern to art director, but is tired of his job and his entire field and can't figure out what to do? Cheers

IanTClark

My daughter just recently moved off to college and took my copy of Breath of the Wild. I’ve almost done everything you can do in that game and have racked up over 400 hours play through both the normal and Master Mode. The other day I got the urge to play it again so I went to the eShop and bought a digital copy at FULL PRICE. What is the game that you’ve bought multiple times that you’ve already consumed most of its content?

Travis Manick

Hello Ben and the Not-Bens, With Kyle getting a job at a game publisher but still working with MinnMax as a cohort, is there any concern about bias when talking critically about games, either from GameMill or other studios, now that you'r working on "that side" of the industry? Thanks, Travis 'Manick_T' Manick

Crayter

Burning question the cohorts: what is the correct number of games to bring on vacation to balance your need for games, your fear of losing games, and overpacking?
